First Look: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘This Is War’

Last month we got to see a few photos from the set of the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their new single This is War (the title track from their latest album) and today we get our first look at a teaser video that has been released for the music video … here are a few screencaps:

As we’ve come to expect from 30sTM, the video for This is War looks pretty expensive. It’s not totally clear what the story is for the video but this teaser clip does give us a taste for what’s to come. Check it out after the jump …

Jared Leto Brings The Pink Mohawk Hotness To NYC

Jared Leto and his band 30 Seconds to Mars are currently on tour here in the US and this past Wednesday night, they played a sold out show at Webster Hall in NYC, NY. As you may recall, Leto recently dyed his newish mohawk bright pink and put it on display on stage this week … unfortch, I don’t think that many people were paying much attention to his mohawk at all:

The shirtlessness underneath the tiny leather jacket paired with the tight skinny jeans SURELY got more attention than Jared‘s colorful hair’do. A couple songs into the set, Leto ditched the jacket and played the rest of show topless — check out those photos, after the jump …

30 Seconds to Mars Film A Music Video For ‘This Is War’

Jared Leto and his 30 Seconds to Mars bandmates recently filmed a new music video for the title track of their new album This is War and right here, right now we get to check out a few promo photos that were shot on location recently. Jared, Shannon Leto and Tomo Miličević will portray US military soldiers in the video … behold:

30 Seconds to Mars are the United States soldiers in the video shoot of their single “This Is War”. In three pictures taken during the filming, the band are seen donning army combat uniform and body armor. They have M4 rifles in their hands and ride an armored Humvee. In order to accurately capture the conflict in the war field, the band hire director Edouard Salier who has been in Iraq for several times. “The song is really about conflict, and the album ['This Is War'] really is about it too: the inevitability of conflict, the blessing of conflict and what we can all learn from it. We’ve certainly had our fair share of it,” frontman Jared Leto told MTV. “So for the ‘This Is War’ video, we wanted to explore another side of it. So we decided to portray soldiers in conflict.” “The video made us realize that underneath the uniforms, these men and women out there in conflict are just like you and I. When we put them on, I looked at my brother, looked at [guitarist] Tomo [Milicevic], and they looked like soldiers,” he continued. “You start to walk like a soldier, feel like a soldier, when you’re wearing body armor and carrying a working M4 … it’s an impactful experience. It was definitely provocative for us. It made us think, and that’s the point of the whole thing.”

Last November, we got to see the 30StM video for Kings + Queens and now the boys are on to video #2. Considering how elaborate the props are for this vid, I’m gonna guess this one might be a bit fancier … besides, you gotta love a man in uniform ;) I can’t wait to see how this video turns out.

Jared Leto Rocks The Mohawk In Nottingham

Earlier this week we learned that Jared Leto, almost unthinkably, decided to shave off his gorgeous hair so that he could rock a new mohawk hair’do … today we get to see Leto, as frontman of his band 30 Seconds to Mars, rockin’ the ‘hawk on stage in Nottingham, England last night like the true rock star he is:

Ugh … it’s almost gross how perfect Jared Leto looks all the time. As I suggested previously, the man knows how to rock any look right … this mohawk works perfectly on him. Sure, I’d prolly advise against the red leather Janet Jackson gloves but, over all, he looks like a great rock star. I have to admit, I’m loving this look on him … aren’t you?

"We were the kings and queens of promise"
First Look: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Kings + Queens’

Last month Jared Leto‘s band 30 Seconds to Mars asked fans to be a part of their new music video, Kings + Queens, and managed to cull together a good number of eager folks willing to be in their view. On a Sunday and Monday night last month, 30StM and their gaggle of fans rode bikes all over the metropolitan Los Angeles area … at last, the video has been finished and is ready for viewing:

Before this music video/short film made its debut online, it was screened at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre here in Hollywood, CA Monday night. My guess is that invited guests of 30StM including those who are featured in the video itself were all on hand to celebrate the premiere of the video … but now it’s our turn to see the final product. After the jump, check out the 30 Seconds to Mars video for Kings + Queens

30 Seconds To Mars Continue Filming Their New Music Video

Yesterday we saw photos of night one of a music video shoot for the new 30 Seconds to Mars single Kings + Queens (from their new album This Is War due out on December 8) which took place in downtown LA Sunday night and today we get to see photos from night two of the shoot which took place on Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, CA last night:

I kinda love Jared Leto‘s white bike … and I really love that 30StM invited their fans to come out and be a part of their new music video. I can’t say that I even know any of the bands songs but I am well aware that they are very committed to their very loyal fans and do their best to include them whenever possible. I understand the album artwork for their new release will feature the faces of some of their lucky fans and will be released with 2000 different covers. That’s really freakin’ cool. I have to admit … I’m curious to see how this video turns out. The fact that it will feature hottie Jared Leto is another plus :)

Jared Leto and his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, were joined by a gaggle of compatriots on the 6th Street Bridge in Los Angeles, CA yesterday to film a music video for the first single (Kings + Queens) off their new album (This Is War). The band posted a message on their official website urging fans with bikes to come out and be a part of their music video. It’s unclear if fans who were not part of last night’s shoot can still participate on the second day of shooting tonight but it might be worth sending an email to address listed above if you are interested. It sounds like a fun way to interact with your fave band (if, indeed, any of y’all are fans of 30 Seconds to Mars) or a great way to get up -close and mebbe personal with Jared Leto himself. I like that the band has made this opportunity open to fans, I’m very curious to see the final result.

Leatherheads
Jared Leto & The Martians Take Manhattan

Jared Leto, sometimes actor/sometimes frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars who has been popping up here on the blog in the past couple of weeks (HERE and HERE), was spotted roaming the streets of NYC yesterday with his leather-clad band of compatriots lookin’ like they were lookin’ for trouble:

Could it be that Leto and his unruly band of thugs were lookin’ to mug a few old ladies? Might they have been lookin’ to crack some unwitting skulls? Is it possible they were lookin’ to cause a commotion? After the jump, check out a few more photos that reveal what Jared and his gang were really up to …

Britney Spears a big winner again
The 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards

Last night the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards were handed out in Liverpool, England to some very deserving folks … many of whom weren’t European at all. American music acts had a very good night at the MTV EMAs last night, including our dear Britney Spears who won two awards at the awards show — Best Act and one of the biggest prizes of the night, Best Album. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals and the show itself:

American pop artists dominated the MTV Europe Music Awards last night (Oct. 6) at Liverpool Echo Arena, and the performers and winners were also keen to bask in President-elect Barack Obama’s election victory. Britney Spears sent a video acceptance for her two awards: best album for “Blackout” (Jive/Sony BMG) and best act of 2008. Host Katy Perry, whose costumes included an Obama-print dress, won the new act gong. “I want a recount,” she said. “The host can’t win.” Perry also opened the show sitting astride a giant chapstick during a performance of “I Kissed a Girl.” Pink collected the first award of the night, taking most addictive track for “So What” (LaFace/Sony BMG). California rock act 30 Seconds To Mars won the rock out award and the video star award for “A Beautiful Lie” (Virgin). The awards were voted for online by fans across Europe. “This has been a really exciting week for us Americans,” said frontman Jared Leto, who got the crowd to chant “Congrats Barack.” There was also recognition for a Liverpool’s most famous musician, with Bono presenting the ultimate legend award to Sir Paul McCartney. “This is the man who invented my job,” said the U2 singer. Bono was also jeered when he said the Beatles would have been Irish, if the Irish potato famine hadn’t driven their ancestors to Britain. “I’ve got to thank my mates Ringo, George and John,” said McCartney. “Many years ago, four little boys born here in Liverpool — and we went on to do quite well.” McCartney also thanked people in the U.S. for “voting in Mr. Obama.” The Liverpool crowd gave a warm reception to U.K. acts who performed, including Take That, the Ting Tings and Duffy. U.K. urban artist Estelle joined Kanye West for their first major awards show collaboration on “American Boy,” featuring a ticker-tape finale with an image of Obama on the giant screen. Eighties pop act Rick Astley was the unlikely winner of the best act ever, following a viral Internet campaign that raised his profile in the past year. Other performers included the Killers, Kid Rock, Beyonce, Pink and local indie rock act the Wombats, who covered Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love.” Perry closed the show with a performance of “Hot N Cold.”

Um, Rick Astley? Seriously? Can I just say … FREAKIN’ AWESOME! I can’t even front, I was a huge Rick Astley fan back in the day. His debut album came out right around the time Kylie Minogue‘s debut album was released here in the States and I was in love with them both. Obvs, Kylie ended up with the more stellar career but I’m very happy to see that Rick Astley can still inspire so much lurve from the World to win the Best Act of All Time award :) Congrats, Ricky!!

Because Britney was here in LA performing with Madonna on stage at Dodger Stadium last night, she was not able to be on hand in person to collect her awards in Liverpool last night … she did manage to offer a pre-taped thank you speech that was filmed on the set of her new music video for her song Circus. Here is a screencap of Britney‘s acceptance speech:

After the jump, check out video of Britney‘s pre-taped acceptance speech as well as Beyoncé‘s live performance of If I Was A Boy

30 Seconds to save the world
Oh, The ‘Humanity’

It’s not only royal brothers who have the philanthropic spirit to help their fellow man but also electro/emo rocker brothers as well. Here are a few pics of Jared and Shannon Leto, of the band 30 Seconds to Mars, lending a helping hand to the folks at Habitat for Humanity a couple of weeks ago:

Fans of 30STM participated in an auction to win the rights to work alongside the band on this project and managed to raise $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity. I don’t always agree with everything that Jared Leto says about certain things, nor am I a huge fan of his music but I am a fan of his movies and I really respect that he and his bandmates choose to take the time to help out with charitable organizations like this. It says a lot about a person who gives so willing of their time in order to help positively affect the lives of others. Click HERE for more information on the efforts made by 30STM to help build homes for people. It’s deffo worth your time to check out the link.
