As you may recall, we saw a cute video over the Xmas holiday that showed Jack Bauer interrogating Santa Claus over “The List” but I can assure you, there will be NO cuteness in this new season of 24. The action takes place in NYC, where all hell breaks loose … and Jack is forced to come out of retirement to clean up the mess and save the world. The 2-part 4-hour season premiere of 24 starts on Sunday January 17. Are you as ready as I am?! Woot!!

My Top Movies & TV Shows Of 2009

Yesterday I posted lists of my Fave Music of ’09 and today I present lists of my Fave Movies and TV shows of 2009. I had a hard time narrowing down my lists for both movies and TV but, in the end, I think I got the list right … at least for me :) Here are my Top 10 Fave Movies of 2009:

At #10 is Avatar:

This movie, in IMAX 3D, was an amazingly beautiful sight to see. I’ll admit that the story (not at all unique) wasn’t the best ever but the storytelling coupled with the amazing special effects makes this movie worthy of inclusion on any Top 10 List for 2009. It was said that Avatar would change the way we watch movies in theaters FOREVER … and while I wouldn’t exactly agree, I will say that James Cameron‘s 15 years devoted to the making of this film were well spent. Avatar may not be a game changer but it very well may be a movie that we look back in years to come as a masterful modern fairytale.

At #9 is Moon:

This movie was all story. While it was cool to look at, the real draw here was the story and acting performance by Sam Rockwell. For most of the film, he acted opposite himself … and he did so very, very well. This movie was not really seen by a lot of people but I think those that did see did really enjoy it … I know I did.

At #8 is The September Issue:

This movie may have been called the “real-life Devil Wears Prada” but it was so much more than that. It was a really intriguing look into what it takes to publish the singly most important magazine issue in the world of Fashion. I loved seeing Vogue Editor In Chief Anna Wintour in action in this film but the real star of The September Issue is Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington. This film prolly wasn’t very interesting to folks not interested in Fashion but I loved it immensely.

At #7 is Taken:

Taken was prolly the biggest surprise for me this year. The film was released in France early in 2008 and then in the UK in Fall 2008. It wasn’t released in the US until January of 2009 and without much fanfare. I think I went to see it on a fluke and I was totally blown away by how fun the film was. Liam Neeson, action star. It was kind of like a Bourne Identity film but with an older, more mature hero. When I sat down to compile this list, I knew Taken would be on it because it’s one of the films that I really remember enjoying this year.

At #6 is Drag Me to Hell:

Okay, I take it back … Taken was not the biggest surprise for me this year, Drag Me to Hell was — for sure! I distinctly remember laughing out loud the first time I saw the trailer for Hell. It looked stupid and I had no plans to waste my time … then word of mouth started going around and people I trusted said that they loved it. I checked it out and, wouldn’t you know it, I loved it too! The movie wasn’t trying to be anything other than what it is … a jump in your seat, fun, horror flick. It’s a lot of fun.

A New Day Arrives

Yesterday started off like a regular, run of the mill sort of day … and then something magical happened … a press package for 24 season 8 arrived in my mailbox containing, among other goodies, a DVD with the first 4 eps of the new season of 24! Altho the new season will not premiere on Fox until January 17, 2010 (in a 4-hour season premiere spread out over 2 nights), I will be lucky enough to preview the new eps at my leisure!!

After I screamed my head off with glee, David and I stepped out for dinner at Century City and I also found myself an amazing pair of leather Converse All-Star shoes designed by John Varvatos. Yes, folks, it was a great day, indeed.

Today, David flies back East to attend a friend’s wedding so I’ll be dropping him off at the airport in a few hours. Tonight, I’ll be seeing The Lovely Bones at a screening at the ArcLight. That’s my Thursday, how’s your’s lookin’?

"I wish I could tell you what I'm doing in ctu today"
Mary Lynn Rajskub Tweets From The Set Of ‘24’

Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays the amazing Chloe O’Brien on 24, posted a few tweets on her official Twitter profile from the set of 24 where she is filming new eps today. Altho Mary Lynn teased that she “wish[es] [she] could tell [us] what [she] is doing … today” she did share a couple of fun photos from the set to appease her Twitter followers (like me). Here are a couple of her pics and a few of her tweets:

I wish I could tell you what I’m doing in ctu today / Photo from ctu / Ok a real pic from ctu. Me, mykelti and our director of photography Rodney / Hi from us at 24

I love it! Twitter is so fun … I love that folks like Mary Lynn can share cute pics like this from the sets of our fave TV shows. I am so excited for the new season of 24 … like, whoa! We’ve seen the trailer, we’ve seen the promo pics and now we’re gettin’ the tweets. It won’t be long until we get to watch the show itself. Cannot wait!!!

‘24’ Releases A New Set Of NYC-Themed Promo Pics

Last Wednesday we got our first look at new 24 season 8 promo pics of Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Freddie Prinze, Jr. (husband of Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) after getting our first look at the trailer for the new season last month. Today we get to check out a few more promo pics with a decidedly New York City theme:

Now that CTU has opened an office in NYC (near the United Nations building, apparently), it works out to be the PERFECT time for 24 to move to the Big Apple. As much as I love watching 24 set in LA, I guess I’m kinda looking forward to having all the action in the new season take place on Manhattan island. I didn’t mind so much all the action taking place in Washington DC last season so … I’m excited. I really love the gritty, action-hero look of these promo pics … I also love that we are just about a month away from the premiere of the new season :)

New day, New castmembers
First Look: Katee Sackhoff & Freddie Prinze, Jr. On ‘24’

Back in May we learned that Freddie Prinze, Jr. (who just became a new dad to baby girl Charlotte Grace with wifey and Buffyverse alum Sarah Michelle Gellar) would be joining the cast of 24 for their upcoming 8th season and in June we learned that Battlestar Gallatica album Katee Sackhoff would also be joining the cast. Last month we got our first look at a new trailer promoting season 8 of 24 which featured both FPJ and Katee along with another new castmember, Anil Kapoor (who starred as the douchey gameshow host in Slumdog Millionaire). Today, we get to check out 3 new promo photos of these new 24 castmembers in their roles on the show:

The first look of Katee Sackhoff on “24″ has been shared as some promotional photos that expose individual characters are released by FOX. The actress is a new addition to the CTU team, being placed as an analyst named Dana Walsh. The role is not only recurring but regular. Dana will work side by side with Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer. The character is described as “a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU.” She reportedly will be entangled in a romantic relationship with field agent Davis Cole who is played by another new regular, Freddie Prinze Jr. The eighth season of “24″ will premiere on January 17, 2010. It will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho Brian Hastings.

I am SO loving these new castmembers … I cannot wait for 24 to debut next year. 24 remains one of my fave shows ever and I’ve been counting down the days ’til it hits the air again. After the jump, check out 2 other new promo photos that feature our beloved 24 characters Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Chloe O’Brien (Mary Lynn Rajskub) …

A video trailer leaks to the Internets
First Look: ‘24’ Season 8

A couple of early, unfinished video trailers for the upcoming 8th season of 24 have been leaked online and they give us our first look at the next hectic and exciting day of Jack Bauer‘s life. Here are a few screencaps from one of these new leaked trailers … as you can see, we also get our first look at new 24 castmember Freddie Prinze, Jr. as well as new castmember Kate Sackhoff in this new clip:

Now, as y’all are well aware when it comes to videos like these … they don’t tend to stay online for very long. After the jump, check out the two clips in full — while you still can …

The 'Battlestar Galactica' comes back down to Earth for new role
Katee Sackhoff Joins The Cast Of ‘24’

Amazing news for fans of both Battlestar Galactica and 24Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly is reporting exclusively that BG‘s Katee Sackhoff has just signed a deal to join the cast of 24! According to Ausiello, Sackhoff‘s character will be going head-to-head with Mary Lynn Rajkub‘s Chloe O’Brien in the newly revamped NYC office of the show’s Counter Terrorist Unit. Um … OM-Frakking-G!!!

Suddenly, I find myself counting the minutes until 24′s new season. Perhaps this is why: Katee Sackhoff is joining the cast! Sources confirm to me exclusively that the Battlestar Galactica heroine has been tapped to play the series regular role of Dana Walsh, a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU. Translation: Chloe-Starbuck catfight alert! This fraktastic casting coup hit a road block last week when Sackhoff abruptly took herself out of the running, prompting me to post this blind item. But late Friday, word surfaced that the BSG badass was once again in the mix. Here’s more scoop on Sackhoff’s character… She’s in a relationship with fellow agent Davis Cole (played by the just-cast Freddie Prinze. Jr.), and she apparently has a skeleton in her closet she’s trying desperately to keep hidden. As I previously reported, 24′s eighth season — which premieres Jan. 17, 2010 — will be set in the Big Apple and center on an assassination plot against a visiting foreign leader (Slumdog Millionaire’s Anil Kapoor). In addition to Sackhoff and Prinze, new Day 8 blood includes Forrest Gump’s Mykelti Williamson, Kissing Jessica Stein’s Jennifer Westfeldt (as a journalist with ties to Kapoor’s diplomat), and The Starter Wife’s Chris Diamantopoulos (as President Taylor’s Chief of Staff).

While I am not at all happy that Anil Kapoor will be on the show (he bugs me to no end), I’m thrilled that Katee Sackhoff has joined the cast … that she will be paired up with Freddie Prinze, Jr.‘s character only makes the whole thing even more awesome! 24 remains my fave TV drama and from what we’re hearing about the new season, it looks like that will still be the case. Ugh … I hate that we have to wait until January to see our first ep of the series but at least we know we have much to look forward to! Excited much??

Ready Freddie
Freddie Prinze, Jr. Joins The Cast Of ‘24’

More TV casting news from Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello … who is reporting that 24 has signed up a new castmember to join the show. Freddie Prinze, Jr. (hubby to the amazing Sarah Michelle Gellar) is joining the cast next season as a member of the newly reinstated Counter Terrorist Unit on the show:

Question: Got anything on 24? –Chris

Ausiello: Big casting scoop: Freddie Prinze Jr. has been tapped to play CTU’s head of Field Ops.

Altho this news is light on deets, allow me to wildly speculate for a minute. Kiefer Sutherland has said many times that there will come a time when Jack Bauer will have to die on the show. It is my understanding that producers are planning on introducing a young character to take the “Jack Bauer” position on the show if/when his death eventually comes. Could it be that FPJ is that character? A CTU Field Ops agent sounds like the perfect character to step into Bauer‘s shoes. Again, this is mere speculation on my part but … you never know. I am very happy that Freddie got this role … what, with a first baby on the way, any money coming in can only be a boon. I love me some 24 … I can’t wait to see FPJ‘s contribution to the show.

The Cast Of ‘24’ Previews The Season 7 Finale, Launches The DVD

Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard and more were on hand at the Wadsworth Theater here in LA last night for a preview screening of the season finale of 24 (which airs on FOX next Monday night) and a launch event for the DVD release of Season 7 (which hits stores next Tuesday). Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s event:

It PAINS me to reveal that I was graciously invited to attend this event last night but due to my previous engagement in Anaheim, I was unable to attend. I’m so happy to see that most of the cast came out for the event … including Glenn Morshower who plays the amazing Secret Serviceman Aaron Pierce on the show. He is my fave non-main character on the show. It’s really cool that the entire season of the show will be released on DVD the day after the finale airs … I really hate waiting months to get the DVDs after the season ends. This season started out a bit slow, IMHO, but it really picked up about 4 eps in … it’s been a great ride and it all ends next week. I’m still trying to get over the fact that Tony Almeida was a bad guy gone good gone bad. He is such a great character … I’m sure there will be a showdown with Jack Bauer soon (next week??). 24 remains one of my fave shows and I’m bummed that it’s ending next week … but it is of great comfort that the show has been renewed for at least 2 more seasons to come.
