Sometimes it seems like Rihanna is not of this world. If she’s not an icon yet, she’s certainly on her way, having recently become the first black woman to be the face of a Christian Dior campaign, and also having worn this dress that we shall never forget. Throw in the Leonardo DiCaprio hook-up rumors and you have a woman who we just cannot make sense of. But in this new Instragram photo, she’s letting us know that she’s just like the rest of us—and she shaves her armpits one at a time. Click inside for more!

It’s always fun to discover new fashion favorites, and it looks like Lily James is gonna be my new jam! The Cinderella star hit up allll of the red carpets this week and wore some really gorgeous pieces. This Balenciaga gown is one of my favorites. And Kerry Washington (who delivered this crazy amazing speech that you must watch) and Shonda Rhimes also looked gorgeous at the GLAAD Media Awards. Peep the gallery for more!

Folks, I don’t know what you’ve got planned for April 20 but I know what you SHOULD be planning to do … you need to be at the movies to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1995 comedic hit Friday. Yes, on 4/20, Friday will be back in theaters for ONE DAY ONLY when the Director’s Cut of the movie will be shown (for the first time ever in theaters). Y’all know that I love seeing old movies in theaters again and Friday is absolutely one of my all time fave movies so … you know where I’ll be come 4/20 next month :) More »

Last month we got to see the first trailer for the upcoming remake of Poltergeist, opening in theaters in August. Today we get to see the just-released new TV spot for Poltergeist that features lots of new footage not previously seen in the first movie trailer. I’ve already decided that I need to see this movie because based on what I’ve seen thus far, this new version of Poltergeist looks like a lot of fun. Believe me, they will never be able to top the original film … but this new version looks close enough to the original to be a fun time at the movies. I love the trailer, I love this TV spot, I can’t wait to see this movie when it opens on May 22 (moved up from the original July 24 date).

On Friday night, I traveled back to 1987 to see Dokken in concert. Last night, I traveled back to 1997 to see Orgy. I used to love Orgy back in the day when I was still really into industrial music but kinda dabbling a bit into more electronic, EDM music in the late ’90s. Orgy was the perfect mix of industrial dance music and their hit cover of Blue Monday (by New Order) really made me a fan. I saw that they were playing a small show at the Whisky A Go Go on Sunset so I decided to check ‘em out. I’m happy to report that the show was much better than I thought it would be. The place was packed, the band was pretty on point and I got to enjoy a night of music that I had forgotten I used to really love once upon a time. More »
After 6 seasons, Glee came to an end on Friday night when the series finale episode aired on Fox and while I don’t really have much love lost for this show that lost my interest years ago, I think it’s worth saying goodbye to the once truly revolutionary TV show. I can’t even get into the all the crazy stuff that went down on the series finale ep (way too many time jumps, TBH) but I do want to share video of the final song performance … One Republic‘s I Lived. Click the embed above to watch the cast of Glee perform the swan-song that caps off their 6 season run. I also want to note that the finale episode did much to pay homage to the late Cory Monteith, who was memorialized one more time with the Glee performance of Journey‘s Don’t Stop Believin’ from the season premiere episode. Click below to watch the performance again, remember how amazing Glee used to be and try not to bawl your eyes out. More »
Scandal star Kerry Washington was awarded the Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards here in Los Angeles, CA last night and she delivered a stirring and very powerful acceptance speech on the support of same-sex marriage in this country. At one point, in particular, she spoke directly to “Black people today [that tell her] that they don’t ‘believe’ in gay marriage” to make a poignant point about “legislating love” … she said:
So when black people today tell me that they don’t ‘believe’ in gay marriage (pause), the first thing that I say is please don’t let anybody try to get you to vote against your own best interests by feeding you messages of hate. And then I say, you know people used to say stuff like that about you and your love. And if we let the government start to legislate love in our lifetime, who do you think is next? We can’t say that we believe in each others’ fundamental humanity and then turn a blind eye to the reality of each others existence and the truth of each others hearts. We must be allies. And we must be allies in this business because to be represented is to be humanized. And as long as anyone, anywhere is being made to feel less human, our very definition of humanity is at stake and we are all vulnerable.
Thank you, Kerry. Very well said. After you click through the gallery presented here to see photos from last night’s GLAAD event, click below to watch Kerry Washington deliver her Vanguard Award acceptance speech in full and be inspired. More »
It’s official. Shannon needs to buy a new LBD and it’s probably going to be leather or faux leather or something. Between the freakum dress Olivia Pope was rocking on Thursday night’s Scandal, and this teeny, tiny, strapless freak-fest Ciara is wearing, it’s clear that I’m obsessed. Click inside for more!
