Alicia Keys recently promised fans in a YouTube message that she would have some new music for them and sure enough– here it is! New Day is the first track from the next album, Alicia‘s first since 2009′s The Element of Freedom. It’s also her first record since becoming wife to Swizz Beatz and mother to baby Egypt. According to Alicia, the album has been 8 months in-the-making and it’s almost complete. I think we can expect very good things. It is Alicia Keys. Listening session popping off inside!

Yesterday morning I made my way to Griffith Park for week 3 of marathon training with Team 2 End AIDS. Our pace group, the 10 minute mile folks, had to come up with a name so we decided to call ourselves Hang 10 … which is apt considering we are training to run the Honolulu Marathon :) Much of the rest of my day was pretty relaxing and last night, David and I finally got to hang out with dear friends we haven’t seen in ages! Ahhh, there’s nothing like a good diss record. But sadly, this isn’t a good diss record. Still, it’s relevant to our ongoing Chris Brown/Drake/W.i.P nightclub ridiculousness coverage. And now we have confirmation (at least from Chris) that the beef is real. Chris Brown hopped on the remix to Chief Keef’s I Don’t Like (the remix is by Kanye and friends, and now Chris and Cali rapper Game have their version), and said some really mean things about Drake‘s eyebrows. Sub-par lyrics and excessive use of the word ninja inside. Except not ninja. The NSFW and NSF for the NAACP version of ninja.
Electro/R&B chanteuse Kelis has released a new song this weekend for our listening pleasure, her first new track since the release of her most recent album Flesh Tone. This new track is titled Distance and it was produced by Skream (from Magnetic Man). I understand Distance will be included on Kelis‘s as-yet-untitled/un-announced new album. Click below to hear this new track in full and get a taste of what’s to come from Kelis. More »

It sounded like a complete joke but seeing as how the ring costs $550
I’m going to assume that this is kind of the real deal. TheCheeky.com
is here to help you solve one of the biggest issues (supposedly) that married couples face: infidelity. The titanium wedding band appears traditional on the outside but is engraved on the inside with the words I’M MARRIED
, sure to leave an imprint on the fingers of any man with wandering eyes… and various other body parts. If I could, I would make this the second That-Ish-Cray Of The Day
, but we already have one
and it’s against PITNB
policy to have two. So for now this is just pure, unadulterated (pun intended), ridiculousness.
OK, 80′s kids/fans, I’ve got some pretty spectacular news to share today … a new line of high end dolls is being introduced at San Diego Comic-Con this month based on the beloved 80′s cartoon Jem and the Holograms. As you may know, Jem and the Holograms was an animated series that featured an all girl rock group. Each week, Jem and the Holograms (the good girls) would, in a nutshell, battle The Misfits (the bad girls) for music supremacy … and each episode featured music videos from each of the bands (which was a revolutionary convention back in the hey day of MTV). A line of dolls was produced to conicide with the cartoon but when the series ended, so did the Jem doll line … until now. Hasbro has teamed up with Integrity Toys to create a NEW collection of Jem and the Holograms dolls. The first doll in the line, Hollywood Jem, will be released at Comic-Con. Click below to get your first look at the doll and learn more deets about this collection of dolls. More »
Based on this trailer, and the critical reception of The Sessions (formerly titled Six Sessions) at the Sundance Film Festival, there is some serious Oscar buzz for John Hawkes. And I’m buzzing too, because he is crazy, scary good. After last year’s Martha Marcy May Marlene and 2005′s Me And You And Everyone We Know (one of my absolute faves), I leap at the name ‘John Hawkes.’ He was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in Winter’s Bone, where he starred alongside The Hunger Games‘s Jennifer Lawrence. This time around he’s playing a severely disabled young man with polio who would like to lose his virginity. He goes to his priest (William H. Macy) for help and you may or may not have the greatest loss-of-virginity story ever told. Sorry American Pie/Superbad/teen movies the world over. It’s time for an Indie film to show you how it’s done.
