Emma Watson Will Play Belle In Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Beauty And The Beast’

In the wake of all the news about the 2 live action adaptation films based on Snow White comes news that plans are in the works for visionary director Guillermo del Toro to bring the classic Beauty and the Beast tale to the live-action big screen. It is being reported today that Emma Watson, who rose to fame in the Harry Potter films, has secured the lead role as Belle (ie. the Beauty). Considering del Toro is directing, I don’t expect that this new version of Beauty and the Beast will be at all similar to the animated film produced by Disney in the early 90′s. More »

Movie Review: ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’

As I mentioned earlier, I was able to attend an early screening of Captain America: The First Avenger — which doesn’t hit theaters until this Friday. From the very start, I have voiced my concern for this film because I was worried that the movie (albeit a comic book movie) would not look believable. After seeing and falling in love with Thor this past Spring, I was certain that it would be my fave superhero film of the year (considering how disappointing Green Lantern was, Thor really was the frontrunner with X-Men: First Class as a close 2nd). But, I now stand corrected. IMHO, Captain America is THE best superhero movie of 2011. More »

‘Avenger’ Sevenfold

Last night David and I were invited to an early screening of Captain America: The First Avenger at The Grove here in LA and, as you can see from the photo below, I really got into the spirit of the evening. David and I met up with our friends Gillian and Tim who also attended the screening. My full review of the film is forthcoming but I can tell you right now … I loved Captain America entirely! For some reason, I thought it would be fun to wear a Captain America mask to the screening … in retrospect, I’m not sure it was the best idea. More »
