Ben Stiller Confirms ‘Zoolander 2’ Is On The Way

So … who’s ready for another Zoolander movie? I hope YOU are because Ben Stiller is confirming that plans are in the works for a sequel film to the hugely successful (and, I might add, terribly funny) comedy Zoolander. As you may recall, Zoolander took the story of a witless ridiculously good-looking male model and the hijinks he encounters in the cutthroat world of male modeling. It would seem that, according to Stiller, the time is ripe for the return of Zoolander:

Last week brought the amazing news that finally, after almost a decade, Ben Stiller is thinking seriously about a “Zoolander” sequel. He’s currently writing it with “Iron Man 2″ scribe Justin Theroux, who will also direct. That’s the news as we had it last week. Well we chatted up Stiller over the weekend at the junket for “Greenberg,” the upcoming comedy he stars in for writer/director Noah Baumbach. He had quite a bit to say about the coming return of his iconic male model parody. Why it’s taken so long for a sequel, where the story will go, who we can expect to see return… maybe not everything you want to know, but lots of juicy info nonetheless. “Yes, it is true,” Stiller confirmed of the sequel plans. “We are in the process of getting a script written. It’s in the early stages, but it’s gonna happen. We’ve been trying for years to… figure it out. It’ll have input from all the… ‘Zoolander’ people. It’s just… taken awhile.” Stiller also confirmed that he’s working with Theroux on putting it all together, though he pulled up short of calling it a co-written collaboration. “Other people have worked on the script,” he explained. “There have been earlier scripts that ['Zoolander' writer John] Hamburg’s had input on, and Nick Stoller and people… we’re just going to take the best of what we have.” Most importantly: Stiller and his “‘Zoolander’ people” now have a starting point to work from. “We have a new story idea that we feel excited about and we’re going to try to go forward,” he said. “The beginning of the movie is [set]… 10 years later, and Derek & Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody even knows who they are, so they have to re-invent themselves.” Since this is a story about the world of fashion, whatever’s written will have to reflect how people who have been out of the loop would return to an industry that changes seasonally after 10 years. “Well I think it has to be [a 'Zoolander' for a new generation],” Stiller explained. “The fashion world, you know, you go away for a year and its changed. It just happens so quickly.” The biggest roadblock for Stiller’s return to the character has been the absence of its creator. “The tough thing over the years has just been that Drake Sather, who created the character, is not around anymore,” he explained. Sather, a former “Saturday Night Live” and “Dennis Miller Show” writer, died in 2004 in an apparent suicide. “For a long time that was, for me, that hardest thing to figure out how to move forward through.” Of course, one of the biggest questions that remains is whether or not Will Ferrell’s Malaysia-hating fashion designer Mugatu will return. “If Will says yes, he definitely has to be a part of it,” Stiller said. “To me, Mugatu is one of the classic screen villains of all time.”

Ack! I am so on the fence about this … on the one hand, I LOVED Zoolander … I still love Zoolander. On the other hand, I fear a sub-par sequel will just ruin it. I wanna trust Ben Stiller … I really do. He’s a funny guy. After the jump, watch video of Ben Stiller‘s interview with MTV about his plans for Zoolander 2More »

David Beckham & AC Milan Win A Game

While Victoria Beckham was bizzy parading around her bony breastplate here in SoCal, hubby David Beckham was hard at work winnin’ a game with AC Milan overseas. Here are a couple photos of Becks in action on the soccer pitch this weekend:

David Beckham was delighted with AC Milan’s victory over Atalanta. The on-loan LA Galaxy midfielder is convinced Milan can overhaul Serie A leaders Inter. Beckham said: “We won, it was important to get the three points. And everything is going well because we continue to create pressure for Inter.”

Yeah, yeah, yeah … they won … now let’s get to the shirtless photo, shall we? Check it out after the jump … More »

Whitney Houston Silences Her Critics In Melbourne

After Whitney Houston faced tough criticism on her first few concert dates in Australia and after Whitney beat a hasty exit out of Sydney, homegirl performed a show in Melbourne which has — surprisingly — resulted in a RAVE review! Despite what some critics have been alleging, Whitney Houston proved in Melbourne that she’s still got what it takes to thrill an audience full of concert-goers:

REPORTS of Whitney Houston’s career-death have been greatly exaggerated. Given some of the post-show comments – by journalists and the public – after Houston’s Brisbane and Sydney shows you half expect her to collapse on stage or not sing a note. On the contrary – her sold out Rod Laver Arena show was – for the majority – pure superstar material. Houston is just a more human superstar in 2010, now with added flaws that give her character. She hits all the right notes in I Look to You, the new song about what she calls ”down times.” Indeed every time she hits a huge note her devoted audience break into applause. I have rarely seen an audience so behind an artist, willing her on. Before that note in I Will Always Love You the audience give her a standing ovation, someone even yells ”You can do it” – and she does, 90 minutes into the concert. Those saying Houston should not be on tour are misguided – these are her people and they are thrilled to see her back on stage. And Houston knows she’s in her element. Perhaps all the haters (Houston referenced her bad Australian press) have spurred her on – there was no hint of trainwreck. Sure she’s eccentric – at times looking in her own world – but who wants normal stars? At one point Houston did her own make up on stage and occasionally giggled to herself. However there were no signs of excessive sweating, minimal holding onto towels and hardly any coughing. Houston belted out hits like The Greatest Love of All, All at Once and Step by Step with that spine-tingling voice in full effect. She chatted and engaged with the crowd, performed a Michael Jackson tribute and got well and truly in the vocal zone during her gospel segment. The only niggles were the talk-singing of I Wanna Dance With Somebody and How Will I Know at the end of the show, with the audience singalong and her amazing backing vocalists saving the day. But they’re minor gripes – if she keeps up this quality Houston we do not have a problem. Houston returns to Melbourne to play at the Plenary on Saturday.

Now this is more like it. While I fully believe that Whitney may not have sounded her best at some of her earlier shows, I never believed her performances were as tragic as her critics would like us to believe. A review like this is enough to wash away all the previous criticism … and if Whitney is using the “haters” to spurn her on, then I hope they keep the criticism coming. Whitney Houston is a survivor but, more importantly, she is a performer … and I LOVE that she is able to silence her critics in one fell swoop. Now, if she can just keep on going with that same fire, she will be just fine. She’ll be fine anyways … but I’m really looking forward to hearing more good things about Whitney‘s show … and I’m really looking forward to seeing her in person myself. You go, Whitney!! You keep on goin’!!

Hangin’ At The Mouse’s House

Yesterday was a fantastically fun day for David and me … we met up with our friend who is also named David (visiting from NYC) and we 3 made our way down to Disneyland for the day. I have been DYING to see Captain EO (which began showing at Disney last Tuesday) and this was our weekend to do so:

We started our day at the California Adventure park but I have to advise any of y’all thinking of going … stay away for a while. Half the park is closed off for renovations and, except for the California Screamin’ rollercoaster, it’s not worth the hassle. We had a much better time at Disneyland. After the jump, check out some of our fun photos and find out who WE MET at Disneyland at the end of the night … More »

Has Jude Law FINALLY Deigned To Meet His Lovechild?

Can it be? At long last …? Has Jude Law finally met, in person, the child he fathered with babymama Samantha Burke 5 months ago? Apparently … he has. Jude Law was spotted in Miami, FL this weekend going in to a neutral office to meet with Samantha Burke, her mother and 5 month old Sophia Lee so that terms of child-support could be discussed. As far as we know, this was the first time that Jude laid eyes on his precious newborn baby girl:

Jude Law has met American model Samantha Burke for the first time since she gave birth to his love child. The 37-year-old actor sat down with Miss Burke, and his lawyer in Florida to draw up plans on how he should support baby Sophia. It is the first time they have come face-to-face following revelations that the 24-year-old Miss Burke was carrying his love child, now five months old, last summer. He initially met his lawyer Maurice Kutner for six hours last Thursday before the planned meeting with Miss Burke in Miami over the weekend. The actor, who has rekindled his relationship with Sienna Miller, looked harassed as he arrived at the city’s airport the previous day. Baby Sophia was born last September in Florida – Law was not present at the birth. She was conceived during a night Law he had shared with Miss Burke after they met in a nightclub in New York while he was filming Sherlock Holmes in December 2008. She is Law’s fourth child – he has three other children with ex-wife Sadie Frost – but it is Miss Burke’s first. They are believed to have met up on Saturday and were pictured entering an office block where plans for Sophia’s upbringing and maintenance were settled. Miss Burke, her mother Lea, and baby Sophia are staying at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental hotel in Miami. He faces the prospect of a substantial maintenance payout to cover baby Sophia’s living costs over the next 18 years. The total is estimated to be more than £2million, including £5,000-a-month living expenses with school fees and medical bills on top.

Blah! I have to say, while I am personally still totally disgusted that Jude has waited this long to meet the child he fathered, I am happy to see that the first meeting has finally taken place. I highly doubt, if the last 5 months are any indication, that Jude plans to have a close relationship with his newest child (at least, for the foreseeable future) but at least he is stepping up to provide for his newest child. At least little Sophia Lee is still too small to know what is going on … I sincerely hope for everyone concerned that Jude decides to have a loving and personal relationship with his daughter by the time she is old enough to understand who her father is. I suppose this is a step in the right direction.

Julie Benz Heats Things Up On ‘Desperate Housewives’

In early February we heard from Julie Benz herself about the on-screen romance she would be participating in on the ABC drama Desperate Housewives … as you may recall, Benz revealed that she would be sparking a love affair with Dana Delany‘s character on the show. Last night, Benz and Delany got down to biz on DH and really heated things up on Wisteria Lane:

Desperate Housewives is set to have its first lesbian relationship. Katherine Mayfair is seduced by former stripper Robin Gallagher in the U.S. show’s new series. The scenes come after a dream sequence in which Katherine, played by actress Dana Delany, is left stunned when new housemate Robin strips off after spilling maple syrup on her bra. Robin, played by Julie Benz, wipes it off with her finger, after which Katherine steps forward and goes to unhook her bra. On this occasion the steamy scenes are simply a dream and Katherine wakes up with a start. But later in the episode the dreams become reality when the pair end up naked together in bed. Benz, who recently joined the show, said filming the scenes was fun. ‘Dana’s a great kisser,’ she said. ‘Joining the cast of Desperate Housewives has been nothing short of amazing. ‘The girls are all so fun to work with and have welcomed me with open arms. I’m so thrilled that there is such a buzz about my character’s relationship with Dana’s. ‘It’s really beautiful and was so fun to shoot.’

I have to admit, I did not watch last night’s ep but I’m SO thrilled that Julie Benz has been given such a prominent guest spot on Desperate Housewives. I’m not sure I believe her role will stand the test of time on the series but thus far, it’s been a pretty meaty role. After the jump, check out a few screencaps from last night’s ep featuring Benz and Delany gettin’ all cozy together — the caps may be spoilery if you’ve not yet watched the ep so be warned … More »

Britney Spears Loses Her Bra, Grabs A Starbucks

Britney Spears continued to show off her blonde ambition yesterday afternoon as she ventured out in SoCal to run a few errands — which included a stop at Starbucks — to soak up some sun. Britney‘s lovely (new) blonde hair was up, tho, and her boobs were out … and totally unrestrained:

Now this is how our dear Britney Spears spends her Sunday afternoons, y’all … footloose and bra-free. Meh … I’m sure other folks will have something nasty to say about Brit Brit but I love the chick SFM, I can’t help it. You let those boobs swing fast and loose, Brit … you’ve earned that right ;)

Who’s Got A Protruding, Bony Breastplate?

Yikes!! Can you guess which celeb was spotted showing off their very bony, very evident breastplate as they made their way around the streets of SoCal this weekend?

I will say that this is NOT the first time that this particular celeb has shown off their protruding bones but, in all honestly, it looks just as disconcerting each and every time I see it. Blech! Any guesses? After the jump, find out if you are right … More »

Johnny Depp Is A ‘Tourist’ In Venice

Last week we got our first look at Angelina Jolie on the Parisian set of her new film The Tourist and today we get our first look at her co-star Johnny Depp on set in Venice, Italy. As you may recall, Angelina and the Brangelina brood have temporarily relocated to Venice for filming of this movie and with the arrival of Johnny, it looks like they are ready to get down to biz:

Johnny Depp appears to be deep in thought, perhaps collecting himself before he gets into character as … The Tourist. It will be very interesting to see Johnny and Angelina together on the big screen … they are both such larger than life figures, I wonder what their on-screen chemistry will be like. But … we have a long time to wait before we see anything from this film. Still … I’m sure we’ll be seeing more photos from the set of The Tourist in the coming weeks. I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more Johnny Depp around here :)
