Watch: Anne Hathaway Says She’s Open To Starring In A ‘Catwoman’ Spin-Off Movie

We’ve got a big juicy discussion going on in the comments section of Trent‘s The Dark Knight Rises review about lots of the movie’s aspects, but especially Anne Hathaway‘s performance of Catwoman. Some of us loved her, some of us meh‘d her, and some of us said she’s best when not compared to Michelle Pfeiffer. Well, the lovely Ms. Hathaway sat down with Digital Spy and talked about her experience on the set of the summer’s most anticipated movie, and maybe… perhaps… hinted at a possible Catwoman spin-off. Don’t worry, she’d play the lead, not Halle (although, if you ask Trent, Halle wasn’t so bad). Check out the interview inside.

Following The Sandusky Sex Abuse Scandal, Penn State Is Fined $60 Million By The NCAA

When the Jerry Sandusky guilty verdict was reached back in June the story was far from over. Once evidence was brought forth proving the involvement of other top Penn State officials (like Joe Paterno) further actions were taken. Yesterday, the now infamous Joe Paterno statue was taken down from its place outside the university stadium, while students and onlookers chanted “We Are Penn State!” Today we learn that the NCAA has announced sanctions against the university’s once-famed football program, including a massive $60 million fine, all of which will help fund child sex abuse awareness programs. More details inside.

First Listen: Sweet Valley’s ‘Total Carnage’ Is The New Summer Jam

While buzzing around MTV‘s Buzzworthy blog I stumbled across a band named Sweet Valley. Yes, I too was hoping that they had some connection to the incomparable YA series Sweet Valley High (shouts-out to Francine Pascal), but alas the affinity in name is merely coincidental. Still, the name drew me in and now I’m completely digging their sound so, despite the let down, I’m happy I pressed “play” on their new song, Total Carnage. Of the song, frontman Nathan Williams (formerly of the Wayves) told Spin magazine “I wanted to make a soundtrack to getting drunk this summer, and this is what I thought it should sound like.” IMO, this short, sweet, heavily-instrumental track pretty much nails it. My kinda summer drinking song inside!

Can You Guess The Flavor Of Snooki’s New Soda?

Jersey Shore may be coming to an end, but you haven’t heard the last of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. Even if her biggest reality show gig is almost a wrap, Snooki‘s here to stay… in one way or another. Snooki & JWOWW is one way, and Rocket Fizz is another. The soda chain has given Snooki her very own soda which means 1.) she’s living the American Dream, and 2.) we get to make a game out of guessing the flavor. Why? Because it’s Monday morning, and it’s the best I got right now guys.

UPDATE: Michael Jackson’s Mother Is No Longer Missing

Yesterday we learned that Katherine Jackson (the late Michael Jackson‘s mother and caretaker of his two children) was missing, according to reports from the LA County Sherriff’s department and buzzings around twitter. Katherine‘s lawyer has now come forward and said that the matriarch of the Jackson family is fine. Other Jacksons confirmed that she had been with family the whole time, and Katherine Jackson herself has now come forward and spoken with police, confirming the same. However, none of this seems to explain the fact that her grandchildren seemed completely unaware of their guardian’s whereabouts. Deets inside.

Madness: Alicia Keys Cut Off Her Hair

Ok, it’s not really “madness” that Alicia Keys cut off her hair. Especially since she still looks all kinds of amazing. Still, I’m one of those people who has always secretly (and not-so-secretly) obsessed over the beautiful locks of Alicia; especially back in the day. Throwback Alicia? I Keep On Fallin Alicia? Oh my god, my poor friend in high school was forced to braid my hair like that every month. And now, all we have are the memories. Sigh. Check out the new ‘do inside, and mourn with me over the great loss that is Alicia Keys‘s hair.

The Jim Henson Company Cuts Ties With Chick-Fil-A Due To Their Flagrant Homophobia

This past week, Chick-Fil-A present Dan Carthy made it plainly and offensively clear that his company is grossly homophobic … “guilty as charged” he flippantly confessed. As a result, many people have finally come to realize that Chick-Fil-A is a hateful business that should not supported by those of us who understand that their brand of bigotry cannot be tolerated. The Jim Henson Company has published an official statement on their official Facebook profile making it clear that they will no longer be associating with Chick-Fil-A. Bill Corgan Laments That The Next Trent Reznor Or Kurt Cobain ‘Won’t Succeed’

Billy Corgan, frontman and sole original member of Smashing Pumpkins, believes that it will be impossible for the next Trent Reznor or Kurt Cobain to find success in the music business as it exists today and, sadly, I think he is 100% correct. According to Corgan, the music biz is set up now where young artists have no chance of achieving long-lasting success because of the structure of the way music is marketed these days. Where young artists like Reznor, Cobain, Corgan, etc. were allowed to rebel and were given the time to flesh out their artistry, young artists today are forced to conform … and unless they find immediate success, they are discarded (and even immediate success can be fleeting). Click below to read Corgan‘s comments and see what you think about what he says. More »

A Pen Pal Letter Written By 21 Year Old Morrissey Is Revealed

Back in the day — way before the world had Facebook, Twitter, the INTERNET — folks had to connect and communicate with friends by mail or telephone. Back in the day, people used to have pen pals. Steven Patrick Morrissey, at 21 years old, was looking for a pen pal when he reached out to a young man named Robert Mackie back in 1980. Morrissey found Mackie‘s address in the personals section of Sounds magazine (which was kind of like the personals section of Craigslist) and sent him a letter. That letter has been revealed and, of course, shared on the Internets. Click below to see and read Morrissey‘s pen pal letter that was written on the back of a photo of James Dean. More »
