Earlier this summer, many readers weighed in when, following the horrific child sex abuse scandal, Penn State was fined $60 million and the statue of Joe Paterno was removed from the campus. A new movie is now in the works and it’s based on Joe Posnanski‘s best-selling biography of the late Joe Paterno, the once-beloved Penn State coach who participated in– and orchestrated– the molestation cover-up. Actor Al Pacino has recently been cast in the movie (which is still in the early stages) and we have a few more details about the plot inside.

The good news is that this movie is going straight to DVD/Blu-Ray. The bad news is that it actually exists! The ‘official’ sequel to our beloved classic A Christmas Story (which many of us watch repeatedly every year on December 25, thanks to the good folks at TBS) is coming out… but will be banned from my home and from the homes of all those who call themselves friends of mine. I mean, seriously? Who. Does. This? And why am I posting the video? So you know what to be morally outraged about today, that’s why. And because we needed a moral outrage piece and I didn’t want to post another bullsh*t quote from One Million Moms, lol. Peep the trailer and join me in this unofficial boycott against the abomination that is A Christmas Story 2.
P.S. Okay, that slinky joke was kind of funny. Still. Boycott!

Last month, actress Leighton Meester was featured in Vogue China and somehow I totally missed the pictures that were floating about. However– having forged a newfound relationship with Fashion Gone Rogue– I stumbled across these and absolutely had to share. The Gossip Girls star was photographed by Stockton Johnson (who recently did that amazing beauty shoot for Elle Vietnam) and she’s looking all kinds of gorgeous rocking Chanel, Gucci, Harry Winston, and Shiatzy Chen. Sounds like Leighton‘s been all up in my closet recently… ’cause, you know, those are the brands I wear. Totally. Peep the pics inside!

Recently, we’ve gotten to see some pretty cool clips from Selena Gomez‘s new indie flick (directed by the amazingness that is Harmony Korine) and Spring Breakers is about to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Apparently, the film got a powerful response from the audience at The Venice Film Festival, so I’m still expecting good things. At a photo call in Toronto, Selena rocked a sexy lil’ leopard print dress and Vanessa Hudgens went for a black and nude lace one-piece. Co-stars Rachel Korine, Ashley Benson, and James Franco were also in the building. James totally looks like he just got out of class, lmao! But it’s James Franco; what’re you gonna do? Peep the gallery for more!

Awesome news for DMB fans! Their new album, Away From The World, is live streaming on iTunes right now. I’m totally listening to the first track and, when I get my hands on that bottle of Moscato that’s been patiently waiting for me in the fridge, I’m going to be listening and sipping, and probably crying to this first track… a little. Peep the track list inside and go here now! You have until September 11 (the official release date of Away From The World) to get your free listen on.
Nothing says classy like a bottle of French rosé… with Prince Harry‘s bum on the label. Apparently, people are seriously looking to cash in on that wild night Prince Harry had up in Vegas. Not too long ago we heard from the girl who was (allegedly) partying with him in his hotel and some people thought it was a cry for attention/money on her part. Now Sheldon Wines is releasing a new bottle of rosé with a fantastic illustration on the label. Click inside for more That-Ish-Cray Of The Day.
Lana Del Rey is official The Woman Of The Year, according to British GQ magazine. Gentleman’s Quarterly thought it appropriate to shoot Ms. LDR totally nude (and totally getting felt up in one of the pictures… and totally feeling herself up in another, lol), but not everyone’s loving it. Lana and GQ are catching some flack for what could be interpreted as an overly sexualized (even offensive) photo shoot. Peep the pics inside and tell me if you think these photos are a bit much.
Remember back in March of 2011 when we first learned that NBC was planning a new TV series based on the DC Comics superhero Wonder Woman? Remember all the bad press the show got before the pilot was even picked up by NBC? The buzz was so bad that the network decided to kill the project before it even made it to air. At that point, I assumed that it would be a very, very long time before anyone else tried to bring Wonder Woman to the small screen. It turns out, I was wrong. The CW is now taking a crack at bringing Wonder Woman back to TV but their plan is tell her story in much the same way that they very successfully told the Superman story in Smallville. The show is tentatively titled Amazon and it will focus on Diana of Themyscira as a young woman … before she takes on the superhero mantle of Wonder Woman. More »
We’ve all heard plenty about the Anna Karenina adaptation, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. But another major adaptation is coming our way and I am extremely interested in this new film. Wuthering Heights brings us another adaptation (there have been many) of the classic novel by Emily Brontë and the Oscar-winning director (Andrea Arnold, who directed Fish Tank) has made some fascinating decisions with the story. Peep the beautiful first trailer above; the casting choice for Heathcliff will surely make waves.
Vulture also has an exclusive new trailer with a bit more dialogue– checkie out here.
Wuthering Heights premiered during the Toronto Film Festival in 2011 (thanks Nicole!) but will be released in New York on October 5.

Last night was a very gastronomically fun night here at home in Detroit. Sarah, Mark and I went out to indulge in a few of my fave places and we had a blast eating and drinking our way down the list. First up, we went to Royal Oak, MI for a sumptuous sushi dinner at Little Tree. Then we walked over to the Astoria pastry shop on Main St. to indulge in dessert. Then we drove to Berkley, MI for drinks at the Living Room. By night’s end, I was having a great time … as I’m sure you can well imagine. More »
