As I feared, the news out of Aurora, CO — where 12 people were killed and 59 others were injured in a mass shooting at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises last night/this morning — continues to get worse and scarier. The gunman, James Holmes, armed himself with 4 weapons and numerous gas and/or explosive devices for his siege on the movie theater but FBI agents are now revealing that the gunman’s home is filled with more explosives. Apparently, his apartment has been booby-trapped and it could take some time for the area to be secured. Wow. More »
I was so pumped to see that Ms. LDR had a new video! And then I was a little disheartened to see that it looked an awful lot like her last couple of videos. You know what I mean. Vintage, instagrammy and totally beautiful… if we hadn’t seen so much of it from her already. But still! It’s Lana Del Rey and I love seeing her through just about any lens, so I’ll take it. Plus actress/model Jaime King co-stars, playing her lesbian lover in this tragic tale of summertime sadness. Check out the video inside!
Here’s some very happy news to cheer up your day … according to a new report, Sarah Michelle Gellar and husband Freddie Prince, Jr. are reportedly expecting the birth of a baby boy! As you may recall, we learned back in April that SMG is pregs with her second child and today we are hearing that the bun she is baking in her oven is going to be a boy! The SMG and FPJ already have a daughter, Charlotte Grace, so a baby boy would round out their growing family perfectly. More »
First off, yes. JoJo is still making music! And thanks to PITNBr Miguel I get to share some of it with you (shouts-out, Miguel). The singer (well-known for that time she kinda kiiillled Drake with her rendition of Marvin’s Room) recently debuted the new single Demonstrate, which is off of an album now somewhere in sight, titled Jumping Trains. The song is about all of the yummy, naughty things you can’t really talk about doing… always better to demonstrate. Some serious for-real R&B music is going down inside!

What could have been an exciting weekend for the summer’s most-anticipated movie has taken a tragic turn. As many of you already know (and as Trent reported here), a gunman killed 12 people and injured 38 more at a midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado. In light of the horrific events Warner Bros. has decided to cancel the film’s red carpet premiere in Paris today, pulling directors and actors from media interviews as well. Details inside.
So, this is awesome news! In an interview with Carson Daly, P!nk opened up about her personal and professional life, revealing interesting and intimate details about her baby girl and her upcoming album. When I got to the part about Lily Allen, I kind of lost it for a minute. I can’t even imagine what the two of them would come up with in a studio, but I guarantee it’s gonna be fun. Two cheeky, crazy talented new Moms known for inducing good times via good music and a healthy dose of bad ass quasi-bitchery? Yes, please.
Ya’ll will have to excuse my behavior for the day; there may be very few non-movie-related stories from my end. I’ve just seen (ahem) The Dark Knight Rises and can think of nothing better than a day filled with movie news. Movie clips, movie trailers, movies that make me think about the relationship between capitalism and freedom as we understand it in our society… what? Yeah. More very good movies please! And The Bourne Legacy might fall into that category, although the studios were probably right to push their premiere date back. Releasing the film a week after the madness that will be The Dark Knight Rises is a much better look, methinks. Still, we have something to get excited about with Jeremy Renner, who certainly has the chops to carry on but also redefine the Bourne series. Check out two new clips inside!

Really terrible and very scary breaking news to share … a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater in Aurora, CO early this morning at one of the first showings of The Dark Knight Rises. According to reports, a heavily armed 24 year old male — wearing a gas mask and bullet proof vest — stormed a packed movie theater and first released gas canisters (possibly tear gas) and or an explosive device before he indiscriminately fired upon people in the audience with 4 weapons. As it stands now,
14 people are reported killed with 50 more people injured UPDATE: the number of dead has been lowered to 12, number of injured has been raised to 59. CNN is reporting that 10 of the dead were killed on the scene, in the theater and the 2 others died later at the hospital. This post was almost titled: “Please Don’t Let Frank Ocean Be Gay, And Other Prayers I Uttered During My Channel Orange Listening Session.” I changed my mind about calling it that, but I thought ya’ll should know how I’m feelin over here. I nearly passed out when I saw that Channel Orange was live-streaming for free last week, for no apparent reason. I’ve been spending a lot of time on Hypetrak listening to my new favorite album, and now that it’s been released I’m ready to physically walk into a store and purchase Frank Ocean‘s debut album (yes, walk into a store… because it’s that good). Check out my track-by-track review of/love affair with Channel Orange inside. And Trent got to see him live earlier this week. It’s fine. I’m fine with that. Fine.
