While the heads of some corporations have decided to channel funds in support of anti-gay hate groups here in the US, other business leaders have decided to channel funds in support of marriage equality in a show of support for the GLBT community. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.com, and his wife MacKenzie have donated $2.5 million dollars in support of same-sex marriage in the state of Washington. With this donation, the Bezos are now among the largest financial backers of marriage equality in the US … which is simply, amazing! More »
Oh my gosh. Haven’t you always wanted to go scuba diving and enjoy brilliant photography at the same time? Of course you have; because you’re all artsy and weird and wonderful just like me. And you think an underwater photography exhibit is the most brilliant idea since… well, probably ever. Andreas Franke is an Austrian photographer. He lives in Vienna with his family, and he recently created his own parallel universe on Vandenberg, where a shipwrecked boat was sunken to create an artificial Reef off Key West. In his exhibit (titled Life Below The Surface), art collides with nature, and ballerinas dance on the ocean floor. It’s fancy, and fantasy, and it’s all in the gallery. Because we have photo galleries now. Because we’re Pink Is The Newer Blog.
J. Cole…. is…. hot. I hate to objectify him; it is so wrong because he’s so talented! And it goes against everything I believe in as a feminist. Either that, or it supports everything I believe as a feminist. I’ll work that out later. J. Cole has a new song called The Cure (because, apparently, that’s what he is), and he is spitting hot fire all over that awesome beat from Jay-Z and Kanye‘s Watch The Throne (Lift Off!) Unfortunately, there’s no video so we’ll just have to imagine what
J.Cole would look like if he took his shirt off more often the exciting accompanying visuals would like. Still, a pretty sweet listening session going down.

So … you guys really like the new site, eh? I cannot even tell you how happy I have been to read all the positive feedback from all y’all. It’s been almost 24 hours since the new redesign went live and, except for a few technical things that can be fixed, everyone seems to really like the new look here on Pink is the new Blog. I cannot even tell you the exhaustive work that has gone on behind the scenes so the credit is not all mine. Still, I am happy to see that the planning and behind-the-scenes tinkering seems to have paid off :) More »
A couple of weeks ago we got our first listen of Runaways, the new single from The Killers from their forthcoming new album Battle Born. Today we get to check out the just-released music video. Like many music videos from The Killers, this music video is very performance oriented. All members of the band are featured and the song is the focal point of the vid. The more I hear this song, the more I like it. The Killers deffo have a sound that is uniquely their own, which I can appreciate. I dig the video, I dig the song … I suspect I will dig the band’s new album, too. What do y’all think? Do you like?

Yesterday we learned that Madonna would be live streaming her intimate club performance at the Olympia Theater in Paris, France for fans online but today we are hearing about the experience for fans inside the venue in Paris. Those of us who watched the live stream know that the show lasted only 8 songs long and was over in about 45 minutes. I assumed that the rest of the concert would proceed in person for fans at the Olympia Theater in Paris … I was wrong. 45 minutes is all the fans got in person as well … and many of them were angry because of how expensive the concert tickets were for such a short show. Yikes! UPDATE: Madonna‘s publicist has issued an official statement about this controversy, read it in full below. More »
