Back in April of 2009, Robert Zemeckis broke the news that he was planning a sequel film to the hit 1988 animated film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Since then, there has been no word at all on sequel plans and it was starting to feel as if Roger Rabbit 2 had been canceled. But today we learn from Zemeckis himself that a script by original Roger Rabbit screenwriters Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman is still being written and that Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 is still deffo on the way:
MTV News caught up with Zemeckis this week at a red-carpet event celebrating the 25th anniversary of “Back to the Future” … [and] we asked the director whether Price and Seaman were still typing away at that script, to which he replied: “That is correct, that is true. They’re slow,” he laughed. So the screenplay isn’t finished yet… but has Zemeckis read any of it? “It’s great,” he said, nodding his head enthusiastically. “Oh, it’s going to be great. I think it’s going to be great.”
HMMMM … news of this planned sequel definitely falls into the “it could be really awesome or it could be really terrible” category. Who Framed Roger Rabbit blew people’s minds when it was released back in 1988 because of the seamless way it integrated animation and live action. Considering the huge advancements in animation made since then, a sequel could be really cool. Then again, as with any sequel based on a hugely successful classic film, if they don’t do it right … it could be a horrible cinematic travesty. After the jump, check out video of Zemeckis confirming for MTV News that yes, indeed, a script for Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 is on the way … More »
Earlier today we saw video of Willow Smith‘s appearance on today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and right now we get to see video from Ellen‘s other guest on today’s show. Mariah Carey not only appears on today’s ep of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her new album in stores today, Merry Christmas II You, but also to talk about her new pregnancy! As you may recall, the last time Mimi was on Ellen, she boldly drank champagne on the air to prove that she wasn’t pregnant then … this time, Ellen offered her another bubbly non-alcoholic drink to toast her happy news:
In this interview clip, Mariah reiterates to Ellen that she does NOT want to know the gender of her baby … and even if the did, she would not impose strict gender standards (pink if it’s a girl, blue if it’s a boy) on her baby … which is very surprising, actually. We all know what a girly girl Mariah Carey is … so I find it very interesting that she is planning not to impose her girliness on her baby if it turns out to be a girl. After the jump, check out a short preview clip of Mimi‘s interview which will air today in full on The Ellen DeGeneres Show … More »
Last night I met up with Tamar, Ollie, Caleb and Rob at Olvera Street in downtown LA so that we could all partake of the annual Day of the Dead celebration together. Altho today is the actual Day of the Dead (El Dia de los Muertos), participants march in the parade and dance in the celebration on the nights leading up to and including November 2. Last year I got my face painted in fun skull make-up, this year I decided to go the paper mask route:
After we ate a sumptuous meal at El Paseo, we watched as the parade marched by and marveled at the beautiful pageantry, amazing costumes and very cool make-up. After the jump, check out some of the photos that me and my friends snapped last night at the Olvera Street Dia De Los Muertos Celebration … More »
Last month we got our first look at Oprah Winfrey with the Jackson family in their Encino, CA home as she interviewed them for an upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. A few days later, it was reported that Oprah would also be interviewing Michael Jackson‘s children — Prince Michael Joseph, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael Joseph, II aka Blanket — for her show. Today we get our first look a promo photo of Oprah with MJ‘s children as she interviewed them for next Monday November 8′s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show:
Relaxed, smiling and playful – that’s the image of Michael Jackson’s three children captured in a candid photo taken during Oprah Winfrey’s visit to the Jacksons’ Encino, Calif., home last month. Prince, 13, and Paris, 12, are seen smiling as Paris reaches out to Blanket, 8, who is curled up in a lawn chair in the backyard of the home, while Winfrey and the children’s grandparents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, are seated across the table. The talk-show host was there to interview Katherine about Michael’s childhood, his career, his children and his legacy a year and a half after the pop legend’s untimely death at age 50.
While there are many people (me included) who are horribly curious to see the Jackson children interviewed, at least one person is NOT pleased that Oprah sat down to interview the kids in the first place. Randy Jackson has spoken out publicly to voice his displeasure with the interview, stating that MJ would NEVER have allowed his children to be interviewed on TV … not even by Oprah. While that claim is debatable, it is very true that MJ fiercely guarded his children’s privacy and it is unlikely that he would be totally cool with putting his kids on TV like this. Still, the interview has been filmed and is scheduled to air next Monday. Will you be tuning in?
Willow Smith, the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith who is burnin’ up the airwaves with her hot debut single Whip My Hair, makes her national television debut today on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Willow sat down to chat with Ellen about her new single and showed off her cute exuberance all the while:
Willow explains to Ellen what Whip My Hair means as a statement of independence and shows exactly why she was born to be in showbiz. Out of a sheer desire for her safety, Ellen presented Willow with a gift that is meant to keep her safe from all that hair whipping. After the jump, check out a short preview video of Willow‘s appearance on Ellen AND WATCH VIDEO of Willow performing her hit song Whip My Hair LIVE! … More »
Last month got to check out a cool poster for Tron: Legacy which pays homage to the original poster artwork released back in 1980 for the first Tron film. Today we get to check out a new poster for the sequel film which features Jeff Bridges reprising the role of Kevin Flynn — 30 years later:
This latest poster is the first in a 3-part series of posters for Tron: Legacy which are all set to be released this week. I have to say, I’m very impressed with how great Bridges looks not only in this poster (hi, booty) but also in the promo trailers that have been released thus far. I’m really looking forward to seeing the other posters in this series but I’m DYING to see the film itself. Tron: Legacy won’t open in theaters until next month … but considering how fast the year has been flying by thus far, it won’t be long until we’ll all be able to see Tron 2 on the big screen.

In early October a photo of comedienne and late night talk show host Chelsea Handler and rapper 50 Cent surfaced that made it appear that the pair were creepin’ together romantically. The following day, Chelsea went on the Twitter record to say that she and Mr. Cent are “just friends” and that the cozy photo of the pair (which was snapped in a loud jazz club in New Orleans, LA) were merely talking “business”. Today we get to see a new photo of Chelsea and 50 out and about together in Malibu, CA yesterday doing whatever it is that they are doing together:
Whether yesterday’s outing was another “business” meeting or not, it’s plainly obvious that Chelsea and 50 Cent enjoy one another’s company. Whether or not these hang out sessions will flourish into something more substantial, I would not be surprised if we end up seeing a lot more of this new couple out and about in public together. What do y’all think … are these two really just friends or are they bumpin’ uglies?

Last month we got our first look at the allegedly “banned” album artwork for Kanye West‘s new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and today we learn that that artwork has been replaced! Yes, folks, it would appear that Kanye was “banned” after all. As you may recall, the original art featured a painting of a naked Kanye with a naked female winged creature straddling his leg … that art has been replaced with this new artwork:
According to Amazon, the listing for Kanye‘s album, due out on November 22, has been updated with this new album art and the following tracklisting:
01. Dark Fantasy
02. Gorgeous feat. KiD CuDi & Raekwon
04. All Of The Lights (Interlude)
05. All Of The Lights
06. Monster feat. JAY-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver
07. So Appalled feat. JAY-Z, Pusha T, Prynce Cy Hi, Swizz Beatz & The RZA
08. Devil In A New Dress feat. Rick Ross
09. Runaway feat. Pusha T
10. Hell Of A Life
11. Blame Game feat. John Legend
12. Lost In The World
13. Who Will Survive In America
But … never fear ye fans of the original album artwork, the previous artwork has not been ditched altogether. There will be a DELUXE version of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and that version of the album will feature the original controversial album art. And that, my friends, is how Kanye West can have his cake and eat it too.
Mariah Carey, who announced to the world last week that she is PREGS with her first child, has released her second Xmas album Merry Christmas II You TODAY and in conjunction will be releasing the music video for her first single Oh Santa! later in the day. Last night, Access Hollywood previewed the video ahead of the full clip release due out later today:
While the full video for hasn’t been officially released just yet, you can check out a short clip of Oh Santa!, after the jump … More »
