David & Victoria Beckham Take A Caribbean Holiday

When last we saw David Beckham, the injured soccer stud was sitting last week in a VIP skybox at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA cheering on his LA Galaxy soccer team. We learned just a few days prior that his wife Victoria Beckham returned home from her world travels to finally spend time with her injured hubby. Today we learn that Les Beckhams have jetted off to enjoy some vacay-time together in the Caribbean so that Becks can rest his bum leg and so that Vicki B. can work on her tan:

There’s surely no better way to get over the disappointment of not playing in the World Cup than by enjoying a luxurious Caribbean holiday. But it’s going to take more than that to cheer up David Beckham, who was ruled out of playing in the tournament after snapping his Achilles tendon in a football match last month. The sportsman, who is currently on a relaxing break with wife Victoria on an exclusive Caribbean resort, failed to muster up a smile as he used his crutches to stroll along the beach. However, the couple are said to be planning to raise David’s spirits by adding another child to their brood. A source told the News of the World: ‘Victoria is looking curvier and healthier than she has in a long time and she thinks another baby could distract David from football. ‘They are clearly having a very romantic time together. They have been together the entire trip. They have been getting spa treatments and have also spent a lot of time just the two of them in the villa.’ Victoria, who has four sons with David, is said to have made a conscious effort to gain weight in a bid to conceive another child. A source told The Sun last week: ‘It’s no secret Victoria and David want a little girl.’ After Victoria’s sister Louise said she was having a daughter it has driven Victoria even more to prepare for pregnancy. ‘She’s been told by doctors her diet, though healthy, would not give her the best chance of conceiving, particularly in her 30s. Instead she has been advised to eat a lot more carbohydrates and fatten up. She has agreed and David is over the moon.’

Oh lord, here come the baby rumors again … and from News of the World, no less. Rumors of Les Beckhams trying for another baby tend to pop up every year or so … but, considering the state that Becks is in these days (ie. in no state at all to play professional soccer in any capacity, at least for a few months) it KINDA makes sense that the time may be right for another baby. The rumor was, a few years ago, that Les Beckhams wanted their next baby — hopefully a girl — to be born in the US (this story went around just as the family moved to the US so that Becks could play professional soccer with the LA Galaxy). They’ve been in the US for a few years now and … no baby. I, personally, would LOVE for the family to add another baby to the mix. A fourth child would be a great addition, I think. Whether another Beckham baby is being conceived on this particular Caribbean holiday or not, I surely hope that Becks is able to get some rest on this trip … but not too much rest ;) He may be out of commission on the soccer field but that don’t mean he needs to be out of commission between the sheets. Happy Holiday, Beckhams!

Jessica Alba & Honor Marie Get Ready For Easter

Mama Jessica Alba took her little chicklet Honor Marie out to pick up some Easter supplies for their holiday celebration this year. Jess and Honor were spied picking up some plastic Easter eggs, a few toys and a pre-packaged Easter basket from their local drug store … which I love!! I grew up with pre-packaged Easter baskets (none of those fancy schmancy homemade baskets) so I think it’s cute that Honor will grow up with them, too:

You gotta love a celebrity that keeps it real … and you generally don’t get more real than Jessica Alba. For Honor, the memories she will grow up remembering are the times spent with her family as they celebrate the holidays, not the price tag on the toys and gifts she receives. I bet that the entire Alba-Warren family will have themselves a fantastic Easter together! And I certainly hope that YOU, too, have a great Easter today as well :)

Celebs On A ‘Mission’ To Spread Easter Cheer

Here are a few photos of some of the celebs who made their way to the Los Angeles Mission yesterday to help serve Easter holiday dinners to the homeless people in the area. As you may recall, the LA Mission invites celebs to come help serve food on during the holidays (like last Xmas) and this weekend celebs like Haylie Duff, Gale Harold, Beverley Mitchell and Kate Linder (from The Young and the Restless) heeded the call:

The Los Angeles Mission prepared meals, Easter baskets and more early Friday morning to serve thousands of people in need for Good Friday. The mission will be handing out 1,000 Easter baskets, donated by JAKKS Pacific, to children and 2,000 pairs of shoes, donated by Etnies, to homeless adults and children. “Although the economy some people say is recovering a little bit, we’re not seeing that in the day-to-day needs,” said Herb Smith of the Los Angeles Mission. A long line that wrapped around the block was proof of the continued hardship. The mission is expecting to feed at least 3,000 people, but they’re cooking for about 4,000 just in case more show up. “Our motto is, it’s hope in a meal, so we want to make sure we give them a nice healthy meal and tell them, ‘hey,we love you, keep coming, we’re here to help you get back on your feet,’” said Chef David Thomas. Thomas said they are cooking almost 2 tons of ham, 1,500 pounds of macaroni and vegetables. “It’s a lot of work right now. We’re running back and forth to make sure it’s all done,” Thomas said. Thomas said the mission has been seeing a lot more families in the past year. “We love (the needy) here at the Los Angeles Mission,” Thomas said. “We want to make sure it’s a really comfortable meal, just like a home setting.”

This is so wonderful. It’s so great that celebs choose to give of their time during the holidays but it should not be forgotten that the people who volunteer at the LA Mission all year long are the real heroes here. There is far too much need in this world … but places like the LA Mission help fulfill those needs as much as they can — and they should be applauded. Not everyone can volunteer but everyone CAN DONATE … so if you are feeling especially generous, you can make a donation to the LA Mission HERE so that free meals like these can continue to be served to the people who really need them :)

Back & Forth

At last … I made it successfully to Connecticut! As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve made my way East so that I can spend some time with David’s family for Passover/Easter and I’m happy to report that my travels were quite enjoyable. Despite the fact that my flight was not non-stop, I managed to make it thru the day with the help of a few travel tools:

I had a quick lay-over in Detroit so I was able to sup on a couple of Coney dogs and a pile of chili fries at National Coney Island during my stop. The plane was wifi enabled so I didn’t feel so disconnected to the world below and my beloved Kindle came thru to keep my mind off the flight. While reading another e-book, I was reminded of the amazing book The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I read it many years ago and LOVE it. While I was on the tarmac, about to leave the gate at the airport I was able to buy and download the book so I could read it on the final leg of my journey. Needless to say, I kept myself very entertained.

Tonight, I will enjoy Seder with the Hauslaibs and then tomorrow, we Easter egg hunt before David and I fly back to LA. Yes, it’s a quick trip but I’m glad to be home with David’s fam. Happy Easter Weekend, y’all!

Bradley Cooper Film Scenes For ‘The Dark Fields’

Yesterday we got to check out the second movie trailer for the upcoming big screen adaptation of The A-Team, starring (among others) Bradley Cooper, and today we get to see photos of the Coop filming scenes in NYC for his new film The Dark Fields. Here are a few photos of Bradley on the NYC street set of Fields filming a couple of action scenes earlier this week:

According to IMDB, The Dark Fields tells the tale of a guy named Eddie (played by Cooper) who stumbles upon an experimental miracle drug that gives him super intellect, super physical ability and eventually the ability to predict events based on patterns he is able to interpret in everyday life. Cooper is paired with Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish in this film due out in 2011. I have to say … the premise sounds very cool. It’s clear that Bradley is happy to move into the realm of action star by taking a role in The A-Team and it sounds like this new film might help cement that move. To be honest, I’d be very interested to see any movie that stars Mr. Bradley Cooper. I suspect there are still many weeks of production to be had on the NYC set of The Dark Fields … hopefully we’ll get to see more photos of the Coopman in action (or, you know … shirtless) on set :)

Rufus Wainwright Wants To Get Hitched

Musician Rufus Wainwright, a gay man who was previously against the notion of legalizing same-sex marriage, has changed his tune now that he finds himself in a predicament where he now wishes he could marry his foreign-born partner. Rufus has been in a relationship with German arts administrator Jörn WeisBrodt, who he describes as the “light of [his] life”, for about 5 years and now wishes the couple could marry … so now he’s speaking out about his new-found support for the legalization of same-sex marriage:

Rufus Wainwright is supporting the fight to legalize same-sex unions in the U.S. because he’d love to marry his longterm partner Jorn WeisBrodt. The singer has credited German theater producer Jorn with inspiring him to speak out for gay rights, insisting he never wanted to settle down before meeting his partner. But Wainwright is frustrated by laws that keep the couple from sealing their union. He says, “I have been with Jorn for five years and he’s the light of my life. He’s my inspiration, support and he’s good in the sack, too! But I am very aware of living in the U.S., of the conundrum that you can’t marry your gay partner and give him citizenship. He has to apply for a green card and he may or may not get accepted, which is annoying when you’re in a committed relationship. If we were straight, we could get married and he’d get his American passport and it would make a lot of sense. I wasn’t a huge gay marriage supporter before I met Jorn because I love the whole old-school promiscuous Oscar Wilde freak show of what ‘being gay’ once was. But since meeting Jorn that all changed.”

First and foremost, I am thrilled that Rufus has finally seen the light (of his life) and is now on board with the push to legalize same-sex marriage in this country. While I’m a bit disappointed that Rufus didn’t decide to lend his support to marriage equality until he felt the need to marry, I am very pleased that he is now actively speaking out on the issue. I am 100% utterly convinced that same-sex marriage will be legal in the US and I hope to see it become a reality in my lifetime. The more people speak out (whether they fully identify or not) on the issue, the better chance we have to make it become a reality. I’m actually very happy that Rufus found someone to make an honest man out of him. I wish him and Jörn all the happiness in the world … and hopefully a happy wedding day soon.

Ellen DeGeneres Visits The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

A few weeks ago we learned the happy news that Universal Studios in Orlando, FL will open their new attraction – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – on June 18 … but this week, Ellen DeGeneres got to visit the World of Harry Potter to bring us a sneak preview of the attraction. But, before we get to Ellen … let’s check out a new promo photo released by Universal Studios that shows us what Hogwart’s groundskeeper Hagrid‘s hut looks like at this new theme park attraction:

Universal Orlando has launched a brand-new feature on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter website that will regularly roll out new information and updates about the area. Click HERE to check it out, and to see a first-look photograph of Hagrid’s Hut within The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. An authentic replica from the Harry Potter films, guests will pass by Hagrid’s Hut on their way to the Flight of the Hippogriff family-friendly roller coaster.

Oh man … this looks and SOUNDS so cool. I am so dying to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter myself. Unfortch, tho, the attraction is still a couple months away from being ready for the public … unless you happen to be Ellen Degeneres. For her talk show this week, Ellen visited the Universal theme park to bring us our first in-person look at this magical new attraction — which you can see, after the jump … More »

Christian Bale Is Reportedly Ready To Become A US Citizen

After living in the US of A for about 20 years, it is being reported that Welsh actor Christian Bale (American Psycho, The Dark Knight, Public Enemies) is ready to legally become a US citizen. I have to say that if this report is true, then I would LOVE to be the first person to officially welcome Christian to the USA:

British actor Christian Bale has applied to become a U.S. citizen, according to tabloid reports. The “American Psycho” star has lived stateside for nearly 20 years and is married to an American, former model Sibi Blazic. The actor left his native Wales in 1976, lived in Europe and settled in the U.S. And according to U.S. magazine Star, he has decided to officially make the country his home. Bale and Blazic currently reside in Los Angeles with the couple’s daughter, Emmeline. A spokesperson for the actor had not responded to requests for comment as WENN went to press … He will … be seen playing Dick Eklund in upcoming movie “The Fighter”, along with Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Jack McGee.

While I’m sure some of you are thinking, Great, just what we need is another actor … but it’s Christian Bale, y’all. Not only is he our (current) Batman but he consistently plays some of the most interesting characters on the big screen. Considering how long he’s lived here in the States, I can’t say I’m very surprised that he may be ready to take the plunge and become a naturalized citizen. I can’t say that I understand what it must feel like to want to claim citizenship of a foreign country but the US has been good to Bale and his family … and we’d be happy to have him. Very soon, he will be able to enjoy all of our country’s benefits … like taxes and jury duty … so let’s send him all our welcoming love and our warmest congrats!!
