MTV News managed to sit down with Britney Spears after the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards last night and they asked her to reveal which song off her latest album Femme Fatale will be released as her next single. As you can see in the video below, it sounds a bit like Britney wasn’t supposed to spill the beans but she clearly couldn’t help herself. The mid-tempo balled Criminal, according to Britney, has been chosen as her next single. More »

As I mentioned yesterday, most of my Sunday was all about the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Altho I chose not to work the red carpet this year, the folks at MTV (and the lovely Tamika in particular, love and thanks to her) still hooked me up with a ticket to attend the show. I had to pick up my ticket pretty early in the day so as soon as I got my work done, I made my way downtown to procure my VMA ticket. I had some time to kill before the actual show so I met up with Ollie for a brunch hang session. By 5pm, I had to get back to the Nokia Theater for the MTV VMA show … and, well, you know how that played out. I did manage to snap some fun photos from my seat inside the theater … which you can check out below. More »
As you should be well aware by now, MTV hosted it’s annual Video Music Awards celebration last night at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA and by pretty much all accounts, the show wasn’t the best one ever. Because there was no host, the entire show felt messy and disjointed. Some of the performances were stellar (Adele and Beyoncé, I’m lookin’ at you), others were less than stellar (take your pick of the rest) and the show overall just didn’t mesh for me. I was happy for some of the award winners (Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj, lookin’ at you) and very disappointed and offended by others (in particular I’m referring to the blatant and unabashed homophobe that I cannot bring myself to even mention by name who won Best New Artist), which left me with an overall feeling of …. malaise over the whole thing. One of the cuter moments of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards last night was when pre-show co-host Selena Gomez interviewed her pop star boyfriend Justin Bieber on the red carpet before the show. Let’s forget for a second that Justin looked like … well … a lesbian … and focus on the cute interplay between the little lovebirds. Selena tried to keep her interview professional and, for the most part, Justin obliged … but he couldn’t resist ambushing his girl with a big smooch on camera at the end of their chat. Check out the video below. More »
Last night, MTV paid “tribute” to our dear Britney Spears at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards by presenting her with the coveted Video Vanguard Award, which honors artists for outstanding lifetime video music achievement. When it was announced that Britney would be receiving the Video Vanguard Award this year, there was much discussion about how MTV would pay tribute to her contributions to pop music, pop culture and MTV in general. The tribute she actually received was partly cute, VERY SHORT and mostly overshadowed by others. I must confess … I was extremely disappointed and very letdown by the “tribute” that Britney got last night … but, in the end, am generally happy that she was honored at all with the Video Vanguard Award. Last week leading up to last night’s 2011 MTV Video Music Awards the network teased us with two quick glimpses (HERE and HERE) from the first full length clip from the much-anticipated film adaptaion of The Hunger Games. Last night, MTV aired the clip in full during the VMAs … clocking in at 30+ seconds! In case you missed seeing it last night or just want another look, check out the first footage from The Hunger Games below. More »
Beyoncé took to the red carpet of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night and needed to get a little something off her chest … and she did so by showing off her burgeoning baby bump. That’s right, Bey announced to the world that she and hubby Jay-Z are pregnant with their first child! And, as if that wasn’t enough, Beyoncé decided to take things one step further by putting on a pretty spectacular performance with baby bump on board! Click below to see one of the first photos of Beyoncé showing off her baby bump and watch video of her stellar live performance of Love on Top at the MTV VMAs just hours ago. More »
Last night, one day before the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards airs live on MTV tonight, Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice judge Adam Levine took to his official Twitter profile to publicly denounce the VMAs. In an effort to release some “angsty teenager … raw honesty”, Levine blasted MTV for not genuinely caring about music telling the VMAs that they can “fuck” off. This rant seems a bit odd considering that Maroon 5 won an MTV Video Music Award back in 2004, a fact that MTV cheekily reminded Levine of in response to his Twitter rant yesterday. More »
