Ryan Phillippe & Friend Do Some Interesting Shopping

Over the weekend, just before the Easter celebrations got started on Sunday, Ryan Phillippe and his BFF/personal assistant did a bit of shopping together in West Hollywood, CA. Ryan drove his friend to a medical marijuana shop and waited in the car for his friend to make his purchase. A short while later, the friend came out of the shop with a paper bag and the BFFs drove off together … behold:


I would assume that the friend has a medical marijuana card that would allow him to make this legal purchase, I suppose Ryan was just being a bud by offering to drive. While it’s entirely possible that these two friends might share their goods with one another, I would never presume that Ryan Phillippe would be the kind of guy to be doing anything … untoward. That being said, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if this year Phillippe‘s Easter basket was filled with some pretty potent Easter grass ;)

Benji Madden Defeats Riki Rachtman In A Celebrity Boxing Match

Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden faced off against MTV VJ Riki Rachtman (Headbanger’s Ball) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend as the main event at Ellismania 5 (hosted by mixed martial arts fighter Jason Ellis). Before the fight, Rachtman was talkin’ all kinds of shizz about how he was going to beat Madden … but actions speak louder than words and after Madden beat the shizz out of Rachtman, Riki had to eat his words:

Rocker Benji Madden was crowned champion at a celebrity boxing match on Saturday night, April 3 after knocking out TV personality Riki Rachtman at the Las Vegas event. The Good Charlotte’s guitarist went head-to-head with MTV star Rachtman at mixed martial artist Jason Ellis’ Ellismania 5 fight at Sin City’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. TV host Rachtman was so confident he would knock Madden out, he offered to pay organizer Ellis $1,000 if he lost. But when the pair stepped into the ring in front of a 3,000 strong crowd, which included Madden’s bandmate and brother, Joel Madden, and Sum 41′s frontman Deryck Whibley, Rachtman was knocked down three times before the referee stopped the fight, ruling a technical knock-out less than two minutes into the first round. Rachtman told People after the match, “Benji Madden just kicked my ass. I got wasted by the guy in Good Charlotte.” Madden responded, “That was the best backhanded congratulations I’ve ever gotten, but thanks anyways.”

Never underestimate the Maddens. They are good guys but if push comes to shove, they will come out swinging and won’t stop swinging until they are the last person standing. Meet ‘True Blood’s New Werewolf

Because it is, apparently, impossible to have a vampire storyline that does not include a werewolf storyline, the third season of the vampire-centric TV series True Blood will introduce a new werewolf character to make the supernatural drama even more dramatic. Entertainment Weekly gives us our first look at this wolfly new character named Alcide (played by Joe Manganiello) in a just-released promo photo with TB protagonist Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin) … behold:

“There is definitely some [sexual] energy between the two of them,” says executive producer Alan Ball of the dynamic between his newest mane attraction, werewolf Alcide (One Tree Hill’s Joe Manganiello), and Sookie (Anna Paquin), who team up in season 3 (debuting June 12) to track down her kidnapped beau, Bill. “It’s not like either one of them is looking for romance, but they’re thrown into several intense situations [and] it’s hard not to bond on a deeper level.” It probably isn’t too tough for Sookie to bond with her animal sidekick on a superficial level, too. “The first shirtless scene [Joe] had I was like, “Who has those abs?” Ball recalls. “He’s in crazy peak physical condition. He’s eating nothing but pure protein. And of course, this being True Blood, he’s already shot his first naked scene. Hello, werewolves when they shift — no clothes!”

MMMMM … yes … I guess I now understand the appeal of throwing werewolves into any supernatural mix as much as possible. Considering how much True Blood likes to showcase nudity, I’m fully expecting that we will get to know this werewolf named Alcide very, very well. I doubt we’ll be seeing what Alcide looks like in wolf form before the show premieres in June but … I guess you never know what promo goodies might come our way in the next 2 1/2 months. Could the arrival of werewolves replace the vampires atop the hottness food-chain on True Blood? What do you think?

Sandra Bullock Prepares Divorce Papers, Jesse James Quits Rehab

RadarOnline is reporting today that there is a lot of movement on the Sandra Bullock/Jesse James front … movement that could mean the official end of the couple’s marriage. According to the site, Sandra has finally decided to initiate divorce proceedings and soon-to-be ex-hubby Jesse James is not happy about it:

Sandra Bullock has prepared divorce papers, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. The Oscar-winning star is ready to proceed against husband Jesse James in the wake of his cheating scandal. Jesse has recently been linked to four other women and as RadarOnline.com first reported, he confessed to Sandra that there were seven other women during their marriage. He checked into Sierra Tucson in Arizona to receive treatment for sex addiction, as reported exclusively by RadarOnline.com. But Sandra never asked him to get help, and she is still reeling from the fact that he habitually cheated on her throughout the marriage, sources tell RadarOnline.com. She’s been through stages of shock and anger and has been deliberating her next move according a source close to the situation. Things got worse in the last few days when Jesse left rehab after Sandra wouldn’t take one of his phone calls. She is surrounded by security and is concerned that he will try to get face to face with her. “Her attitude toward Jesse hasn’t softened since she found out he was cheating on her,” the source said. “She’s been betrayed and cheated on and she’s not getting over that.” Jesse’s lawyer described him as a “broken man” who desperately wants to put his marriage back together.

Because Sandra would not reportedly have any contact with Jesse while he was in rehab, he decided to quit and leave the facility. Radar also reports that because of the couple’s ironclad prenuptial agreement, Jesse will walk away from his marriage to Sandra with NOTHING … as it should be. Here’s a run down of all of these developments:

Jesse James bolted from Sierra Tucson rehab after Sandra Bullock refused to take his phone call, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. Jesse desperately wants to put the marriage back together and his lawyer recently described him as a “broken man.” He went into rehab for sex addiction treatment on his own, without Sandra requesting he get help. But when she refused to take his call, he took off, a source familiar with the situation told RadarOnline.com exclusively. And that has Bullock worried – because she doesn’t want to see him and she doesn’t want him trying to get face-to-face. But Bullock has a top security company, the source said, and it would be very difficult for James to get near her if she doesn’t want him around … Star Magazine first reported Jesse left rehab and was staying with a friend. RadarOnline.com learned the trigger that caused Jesse to go AWOL was his inability to get Sandra to do what he wants.

Regarding the prenup:

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James have a prenuptial agreement that specifies he gets no money in a divorce if he cheats during the marriage, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. While James is financially successful on his own, Bullock is Hollywood’s top actress after her Oscar victory and commands top paychecks. Her fortune is far bigger than his, sources tell RadarOnline.com. “If she divorces Jesse and proves he was cheating, which won’t be hard, Sandra won’t have to pay Jesse anything,” a source familiar with the situation told RadarOnline.com. As RadarOnline.com was first to report, Jesse has already privately confessed his infidelity to Sandra. He has been linked to four women and told his wife that there are seven women in total.

While we should deffo take all of this information with a huge grain of salt, I suspect there is some truth in all of this. I cannot imagine a scenario where Sandra would take Jesse back. He doesn’t strike me as the sort of person who would stay committed to a rehab program so it also makes sense that he would quit treatment as soon as he realized it wasn’t scoring him any points with his estranged wife. As difficult as this whole mess is, I know that Sandra Bullock will be fine. She just needs to take the first steps to take control of her future. I really feel for her in all of this. But, again, I know she will be just fine.

Watch: 2 Minutes Of ‘Iron Man 2’

Perhaps to celebrate the fun geekfest WonderCon in San Francisco, CA this weekend or mebbe in celebration of the much-hyped release of the Apple iPad, a new 2 minute clip from the heavily-anticipated sequel film Iron Man 2 has been released for our viewing pleasure. Which you can watch HERE:


Woot!! The more footage I see from IM2, the more convinced I become that this sequel is going to be just as fun as Iron Man was. The effects, the music, the humor … director Jon Favreau and actor Robert Downey, Jr. have really outdone themselves by bringing Iron Man to life on the big screen. While there are many movies I am really looking forward to seeing this year, I have to admit that Iron Man 2 is the one I’m most looking forward to seeing. This short 2 minute clip just further enhances that belief. May 7 can’t get here soon enough for me!!

Earlier today we saw photos of Milla Jovovich and Ali Later promoting their new film Resident Evil: Afterlife at WonderCon in San Francisco, CA yesterday and right now we get to see a few photos of Hottie McHotster Jake Gyllenhaal doing a bit of promo work at WonderCon for his new film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time … behold:


Le sigh. I feel bad for anyone (like Jerry Bruckheimer, here) who has to stand next to Jakey poo for a photo … they are always completely overshadowed by his beauteous brilliance. It’s a shame that WonderCon had to take place over Easter weekend because I would’ve been more than happy to fly up to San Fran to attend the convention and possibly run into Jake Gyllenhaal. Ah well … mebbe next time. Jake and his Persia compatriots did more than just promote their film at the convention, they also did a bit of partying afterwards. Happy Passover/Easter

Yesterday was a very full day here in Connecticut … because it was my only full day here, David and I wanted to really make the most of it. After I got my work done in the morning, I asked David to take me out into the woods behind his house so he can show me the places he and his brother Aram used to play when they were little … cut to David leading me thru thorn bushes, skunk cabbage and leech-filled streams. Honestly tho, it was really fun:


I feel I must call your attention to the fact that David is wearing Crocs … which is, apparently, the shoe to wear in the wilderness. David showed me where he and his brother erected a “real” tee-pee when they were kids and also showed me where they tortured their G.I. Joes. ‘Twas fun, ’twas fun.

After our little adventure, we had to return to the homestead so that we could dye Easter eggs before we sat down for Passover Seder dinner. Yes, folks, David’s family gets to enjoy both holidays ;) Check out some fun photos after the jump … More »

Mo’Nique Gets Back On The Comedy Trail

Mo’Nique may be a newly crowed Academy Award-winning actress (among the many acting awards she collected this past awards season) but that doesn’t mean that she is ready to give up her day job. Mo is currently on a new comedy tour called Spread the Love which has her heading around the country. Last night, Mo’Nique performed at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, CA … here are a few photos (along with a write up about the Spead the Love Comedy Tour):

Not only is Mo’Nique riding high on winning the Washington, DC, Boston, Los Angeles and New York Film Critics’ Awards, a SAG Award and a Golden Globe Award, having a top-rated late night talk show on BET and most recently an Academy Award nomination, but she is also readying herself to embark upon a highly anticipated comedy tour—Spread the Love Tour 2010.
