The James Bond Films Will Live Again

Back in 2009, it was reported that the MGM film studio was going bankrupt and in an attempt to pay back their debt they were close to losing the movie rights to the James Bond film franchise (which is already 20+ films long). Because of the studio’s financial woes, there was no chance that a new film (a follow-up to the last Bond film, 2008′s Quantum of Solace) would be made … until now. The LA Times reports this week that MGM struck up a deal with Sony Pictures to move forward with the 23rd and 24th James Bond films … the first of which is now scheduled to hit theaters in late 2012. Bond lives, y’all! More »

First Look: Lady Gaga Reveals The Album Artwork For ‘Born This Way’

Lady Gaga unveiled the official artwork for her upcoming new album Born This Way late last night on her official Twitter profile just hours after her new single Judas first leaked to the Internets and then was officially released on iTunes for sale. Gaga teased the cover artwork by tweeting, “Get your hot rods ready to rumble, cause’ we’re gonna drink until we die.”- HIGHWAY UNICORN (ROAD TO LOVE), which I presume is a lyric from a new song. It turns out the “hot rods” part was meant to clue folks in that the cover artwork for Born This Way would have a motorcycle theme. Check it out below. More »

‘Glee’s Darren Criss Does ‘Billboard’ Magazine

Glee break-out star Darren Criss, who plays Kurt‘s boyfriend Blaine Anderson, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Billboard magazine. In his coverstory interview, Criss talks about his introduction to musical theater (Disney animated films), the recording of a Warbler’s album, this Summer’s upcoming Glee Live! concert tour and the prospect of his own solo album. While I don’t really love the coverphoto (Darren‘s wide open mouth, again?), the accompanying interview is a cute read. More »

A ‘Revelation’

Last night, David and I attended a performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown LA and I am happy to report that the show was utterly and powerfully incredible. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ailey‘s masterpiece Revelations, that particular piece was performed last night … along with new and older pieces. It was truly a night to remember. More »
