A Final Farewell To Heavy D

Last week we learned the very sad news that rapper Heavy D (née Dwight Arrington Myers) passed away suddenly at the young age of 44. Today we learn that Heavy was memorialized and laid to final rest yesterday in NYC, NY in front of family and famous friends — even President Barack Obama sent along his condolences. Reverend Al Sharpton presided over yesterday’s funeral service and friends like User, P. Diddy, Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith and others were in attendance to give their final goodbyes. Altho it was very obviously a sad day, I understand Heavy D‘s amazing life was celebrated and lauded for what he offered the world. More »

Movie Review: ‘The Ides Of March’

Altho the George Clooney and Ryan Gosling film The Ides of March came out months ago, I never got around to seeing it and sadly totally forgot all about it. Thankfully, theaters in LA play these sorts of movies longer than most cities and David and I got the chance to see it at the posh Landmark Theater in West LA, last night. To be honest, I had heard not great things about the film so I wasn’t too excited. The only reason I agreed to go, I must confess, was because it was showing in a movie theater with couch seating. I am SO glad I decided to go because, man, this film is really fantastic! More »
