On Monday we got our first look at the cover art for Mariah Carey‘s new single Triumphant (Get ‘Em), today we get our first listen of the track in full. As you can hear, her guest collaborators Rick Ross and Meek Mills are very prominently featured on the song. While I wouldn’t say that this song is the best thing Mimi has ever released, I can’t say that I hate it. It’ll take me a few listens to form a proper opinion but … what do y’all think?
Haley Reinhart may have been a much-loved contestant on American Idol‘s tenth season (she made it into the top three). And she may be the first A.I. alum to play at the renowned music festival Lollapalooza, which is also kind of a big deal. But these aren’t the most important things about her. And, while she’s got a crazy voice (her bluesy/R&B/country/pop sound is reminiscent is unique, and also slightly reminiscent of Joss Stone) even this isn’t the most exciting thing about her. What surprised me most during our interview was that this young starlet on the rise is deeply involved in all aspects of her music-making, and so intent on building her own name outside of American Idol. We got to chat last week about her new album Listen Up!, upcoming projects, and what it was like growing up in a family of musicians. It was so refreshing to hear a young artist speak with such passion, excitement, and intelligence about her craft. Suffice it to say, this girl’s going places, and she’s not waiting for anyone to take her there. Check out our exclusive interview with Haley Reinhart, inside.

Okay folks … deep breaths … take DEEP breaths. According to reports out of London today, the Spice Girls are currently REHEARSING for their long-rumored reunion performance! Now, take it easy … this news has not been confirmed but, as you may recall, it is widely believed that the Spices have been planning to reunite one more time in order to perform during the Closing Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games. A tweet from Victoria Beckham earlier today lends credence to the rumors … as well as another tweet from a British reporter. Click below to learn more. More »
Yesterday, all across the US, hateful and misguided people rallied against love … but here in LA, well, we got struck with a Love Bomb. While out and about yesterday afternoon, I came upon a new piece of 3D street art that went up on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, CA. As you may know, street art takes many forms … from spray paint graffiti to vinyl stickers to stencil paintings and more. On occasion, a 3D sculpture will show up on a street somewhere. Yesterday, a new piece by a street artist named Plastic Jesus showed up on Melrose … click below to take a look. More »

As you are prolly well aware, yesterday was a so-called Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day where thousands of people rallied around the fast food chain in a show of, IMHO, misguided support. True, many people did line up to support the company’s hateful practices but many others did so for the wrong reasons … but I’ll get to that in a minute. In opposition to CFA Appreciation Day, businesses here in LA offered an alternative. The Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood, CA has introduced a Chick-Fil-Gay sandwich that will benefit the fight for marriage equality. Hamburger Mary’s, also in WeHo, is offering a chicken sandwich of their own. While others gave their money to CFA that will, in turn, be donated to anti-gay hate groups, David and I dined at The Abbey last night happy in the knowledge that our money was being put to good use. May people claim that this CFA boycott is meant to stifle the company owner’s First Amendment right to free speech … but, on the contrary, I welcome his use of this right … because now more people know what the company stands for and why it’s imperative to stop giving them money. Now I don’t know how I feel about calling any film– no matter how poignantly gangster it might be– ‘this year’s Drive.’ But, I am excited to hear that this is what critics are saying about Killing Them Softly. Brad Pitt plays Jackie Cogan, a seasoned enforcer who comes to Boston (hells yeah!) to set some small-time crooks straight. The movie is directed by Andrew Dominick who also directed Pitt in his 2007 Oscar-nominated hit The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Between the two of them, Ray Liotta, and James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), I think it makes sense for mob movie-lovers to get excited.

So apparently, pink is the new black. And blog. Jessica Biel showed up at the Total Recall premiere in Hollywood and kinda did it on ‘em! Dior Couture dress? Check. Louis Vuitton shoes? Check. Jimmy Choo bag? Check. Tommy Binns (whoever that is) jewels? Check. So yeah, that’s how she rolls. Other celebs were at the premiere as well– Colin Farrell, Michael Ealy and Kate Beckinsale were all looking quite good– but soon-to-be-Mrs.-Timberlake‘s look was my personal fave. Check out the gallery so you can get your oohs and aaahs on.
