A New Animated Version Of ‘ThunderCats’ Is On The Way

Last August we got to see the concept art for the proposed big screen animated movie based on the 80′s cartoon ThunderCats but since then, haven’t heard a peep about the project. Today, we learn exciting NEW ThunderCats news that is sure to excite fans of the original animated series. Warner Bros. Animation has announced that they will be releasing an entirely new animated TV series based on ThunderCats next year! The series will be the WB‘s first foray into anime, here is our first look at the new logo for the show as well as some deets about the series from the new press release:

Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) has begun production on “ThunderCats,” an all-new animated series for Cartoon Network, based upon the iconic 1980s action classic. “ThunderCats” is the newest series from WBA, joining “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” which was recently renewed for a third season, and the following forthcoming programs: “The Looney Tunes Show,” “MAD,” “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “Young Justice.” The announcement was made today by Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, Warner Bros. Animation. “In addition to being Warner Bros. Animation’s first anime series, ‘ThunderCats’ marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy,” said Register. “The realism and dynamic visual style we’ve achieved are sure to thrill viewers, and the cool weapons, vehicles and technology should help the show appeal to a diverse audience.” The 21st century reimagining of the series marks a creative collaboration between WBA and Studio4°C, one of the most vibrant animation studios in Japan, with credits including “The Animatrix,” “Gotham Knights” and “Halo Legends.” WBA is working closely with Studio4°C, utilizing the latter’s expertise to give the “ThunderCats” characters a new cutting-edge look while remaining true to the compelling storylines and mythology of the original series. “We at Studio4°C are excited to be in this creative partnership with Warner Bros. Animation to bring ‘ThunderCats’ to life,” said Eiko Tanaka, President and CEO, Studio4°C. “This collaboration combines the strengths of our two companies – high production values and great storytelling – toward reintroducing this classic fan-favorite to a new audience.” Roaring to life through WBA and Studio4°C’s use of the Japanese animated artistry of anime, “ThunderCats” characters Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Panthro, Cheetara and others will spring off the screen with realistic cat-like characteristics inconceivable in previous incarnations. The new “ThunderCats” will appeal to viewers who have loved the characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise. A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost – takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode.

OM-EFFFFFF-G!!! This is really exciting news! I can’t even tell you how big of a ThunderCats fan I am. When I was a Boy Scout, we named out little troop ThunderCats and based the patches we wore on our uniforms on the ThunderCats logo. When I was the Captain of the Safety Patrol in the 6th grade, I used to carry my Lion-O action figure around with me to help me adjudicate justice and ensure safety:

Britney Spears & Jason Trawick Take The Boys To Santa Monica Pier

Here are a few fun photos of Britney Spears and her beau Jason Trawick enjoying a fun afternoon with her children Sean Preston and Jayden James on Santa Monica Pier here in SoCal yesterday:


For those of you who aren’t aware, the Santa Monica Pier has a fun little amusement park section called Pacific Park which has a roller coaster, a carousel, little bumper cars and a huge Ferris Wheel. It’s a really fun place for kids of all ages … I’m sure Britwick and the boys had a fantastic time. Her little ones like they were really enjoying themselves. It’s nice to see Britney and her new family having so much fun together … I just love them as a family unit :D

Sonja Morgan Of ‘The Real Housewives Of NYC’ Busted!

Sonja Morgan, one of the new castmembers of the current 3rd season of Bravo TV‘s The Real Housewives of NYC, was busted for driving while intoxicated in the ritzy NYC ‘burb of Southampton Village, NY. Here is Sonja‘s mug shot and some deets of her arrest:

A cast member of the hit Bravo reality show “Real Housewives of New York City” was busted for DWI early Monday morning in Southampton Village. Sonja Morgan, 46, failed to halt at a stop sign on First Neck Lane at 2:16 a.m. and was pulled over by a Southampton Village officer, according to cops. Sources said she had been partying on the East End over the course of the Memorial Day weekend. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, the ex-wife of J.P. Morgan’s great-grandson John Adams Morgan refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was taken to local police headquarters and slapped with a DWI rap, according to cops. Morgan, who is in her first season on the show, will appear in court to face the charge at a later date.

While I love Sonja on Housewives and find her a welcome and refreshing addition to the series, I cannot help but be totally disgusted by her arrest for drunk driving. It’s just outrageous to me that folks still think they can get away with driving while drunk. It’s completely irresponsible to put other people’s lives in danger and I just wish people would use better judgment when they decide to drink. Trust me, I know that we are all flawed and no one is perfect … but busts like this can really remind us all that drinking and driving is no small matter. Sonja was very lucky that she didn’t injure herself or others due to her reckless behavior. Hopefully one DUI arrest will be enough for her to learn the lesson.

The Forecast Is For ‘Snow’

The weather has been kinda cool here in LA for the past couple of days but I understand things are going to heat up considerably by the weekend. But, before temps get into the high 90s this weekend, the forecast tonight is for Snow … Miike Snow, that is:


I’ve been a fan of the band Miike Snow (a 3-piece band made up of Andrew Wyatt and producing team Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, better known as Bloodshy & Avant). ever since my friend David Russell suggested I check them out. Their album is really fantastic … as is evident by their hot new single The Rabbit, which has just been released:


I’ve been looking forward to this show for WEEKS! Miike Snow is playing at The Henry Fonda Theater (which is my fave, small venue here in LA) and I’ll be going to the show with my BFF Jordan. I hope to snap a fun fun pics to share tomorrow. Wee!!

RuPaul Introduces ‘RuPaul’s Drag U’

The second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race may already be dunzo but that doesn’t mean we have to wait an entire year to enjoy some drag fun on TV. RuPaul and LOGO TV are launching a new series called RuPaul’s Drag U this Summer and today we get to watch a new video interview with RuPaul himself explaining what the show is all about:


Listen up, class! Don’t think that just because the RuPaul’s Drag Race finale is over that your drag-tastic TV-watching days are coming to an end. You’re just getting a little vacation, because come this summer, it’s back to school-time … RuPaul’s Drag U [is] coming in July, and I’m thinking it’s like Charm School meets The Swan meets a weepy, self-empowering Extreme Makeover meets TRANSform Me meets Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar. Which basically means this could be the best things ever in the world. Anyways… From what I hear, the show will feature drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race giving real biological ladies makeovers and crash courses in self-esteem. Overworked moms will get glamourized. Drab housefraus will get draggified! And there’s gonna be attention paid to inner beauty and sassy confidence-building, too! Plus, lip-synching and pageant realness. Make of all of this what you will…

Oh man … this is going to be amazing. Just like the name Drag Race is a perfect name for a beauty pageant for drag queens, so too is Drag U a great name for a show about teaching the art of drag. Lance Bass Goes Glam, Again, For Mike Ruiz

Back in January we saw a few photos of a very glammed-up Lance Bass that were posted to photographer Mike Ruiz‘s official Facebook profile … and today we learn that the pair have teamed up for a new photoshoot. Because Ruiz shot photos of last year’s American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert back in February, some people are saying that Lance is “trying to look like” Glambert in these new photos. I disagree, I think the look of these new photos, posted to Lance‘s official Facebook page, hearken back to TRUE glam rock icons like David Bowie and Gary Numan:


I, personally, am not a fan of so much make-up but it is a striking look for Mr. Bass. Considering how squeaky clean he was back in the hey day of *NSync, I’m loving the departures he is taking these days with his image. These photoshoots seem like a lot of fun for both Lance and Mike … which is why they both seem to love sharing the fruits of their labor with their Facebook friends. Bethenny Frankel Shows Off Her Post-Baby Bod

Real Housewives of NYC star Bethenny Frankel may have just given birth about 3 weeks ago but she’s already back in bathing suit shape ready to take on the coming Summer months. US Weekly magazine is featuring new photos of Bethenny showing off her post-baby bod in the new issue of their mag, on newsstands this week … here’s a first look:

What baby weight? Just three weeks after giving birth to daughter Bryn, Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel is back to a size-4 swimsuit! In the new issue of Us Weekly, Frankel, 39, reveals how she’s already lost 29 of the 35 pounds she gained while pregnant with Bryn, born May 8. “I don’t believe in diets,” says the chef and author of Naturally Thin, who wed Bryn’s dad Jason Hoppy March 28. Frankel stayed active while carrying Bryn, alternating yoga with 45-minute walks three times a week, and practiced portion control with a vegetarian diet. Still healing since Bryn’s C-section birth, the 122-pound star has decreased her walks to 30 minutes and continues to eat low-fat fare. A sample day’s menu: a muffin and fruit for breakfast, a veggie sandwich and soup at lunch and BBQ chicken and a half a sweet potato for dinner. Frankel admits to Us, “I’m still wearing maternity clothes, because they’re comfortable.” Still, she says, “I”m excited to get into my Louboutins again. No more swollen feet!”

Dang, she looks good, don’t she? I am so happy for Bethenny … she truly is on top of the world. With a new hubby, a beautiful new baby and a bright successful future ahead, she finally has all of the things she’s been looking for for so long. It’s really cool to see how far she’s come in just the past year. She’s always been my fave NYC housewife and I think it’s about time she’s come into her own. You’re lookin’ good, girl … own it!!

Unretouched photos from the photoshoot that Madonna did for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 09/10 ad campaign have made their way to the Internets … and they are quite a sight to see. In the photos, Maddy is wearing make-up but her imperfections had yet to be Photoshopped away … behold:


You may recall that we first got to see the retouched photos from the campaign last Summer … those photos had an effect overlaid on the photos to give them a colorful look. Lindsay Lohan Gets Her Wisdom Teeth Extracted

Geeze, some people will do anything to get access to pain medication when they are legally restricted from taking any sort of prescription medication due to a court-ordered probation order that requires random drug testing. Lindsay Lohan, who last week was legally barred from ingesting any alcohol or medication until her next court hearing in July, underwent dental surgery here in SoCal yesterday to have her wisdom teeth extracted. According to TMZ, she has been given the OK to take pain medication as a result of her dental surgery … which strikes me as a pretty ingeniously suspicious way to get access to meds when one is not really allowed to:

It might seem like bad timing — that Lindsay Lohan was ordered last week to submit to random drug testing, just days before she had her wisdom teeth pulled … but we’ve learned Lindsay got a pass from probation. Lindsay’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, tells TMZ, “We advised the Probation Department of the dental appointment, which was made well in advance of last week’s court hearing.” Chapman says she assured the probation officer she would provide “documentation about any medications that Lindsay would be taking, which would be administered or prescribed as part of the procedure.” So whatever sedative Lindsay got in the oral surgeon’s office, and whatever she’s taking for the pain … won’t count on the drug test.

I mean … maybe I’m just being overly suspicious but … this just sounds way too convenient. I’m not saying that Lindsay Lohan would actually decide to get her wisdom teeth pulled just to get her hands on pain meds but … the timing … the timing seems really suspicious. In any event, Lindsay Lohan is now wisdom toothless and free to get hopped up on pain meds … it sounds like a win/win for her, yes?
