As you are prolly well aware, yesterday was a so-called Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day where thousands of people rallied around the fast food chain in a show of, IMHO, misguided support. True, many people did line up to support the company’s hateful practices but many others did so for the wrong reasons … but I’ll get to that in a minute. In opposition to CFA Appreciation Day, businesses here in LA offered an alternative. The Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood, CA has introduced a Chick-Fil-Gay sandwich that will benefit the fight for marriage equality. Hamburger Mary’s, also in WeHo, is offering a chicken sandwich of their own. While others gave their money to CFA that will, in turn, be donated to anti-gay hate groups, David and I dined at The Abbey last night happy in the knowledge that our money was being put to good use. May people claim that this CFA boycott is meant to stifle the company owner’s First Amendment right to free speech … but, on the contrary, I welcome his use of this right … because now more people know what the company stands for and why it’s imperative to stop giving them money. Now I don’t know how I feel about calling any film– no matter how poignantly gangster it might be– ‘this year’s Drive.’ But, I am excited to hear that this is what critics are saying about Killing Them Softly. Brad Pitt plays Jackie Cogan, a seasoned enforcer who comes to Boston (hells yeah!) to set some small-time crooks straight. The movie is directed by Andrew Dominick who also directed Pitt in his 2007 Oscar-nominated hit The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Between the two of them, Ray Liotta, and James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), I think it makes sense for mob movie-lovers to get excited.

So apparently, pink is the new black. And blog. Jessica Biel showed up at the Total Recall premiere in Hollywood and kinda did it on ‘em! Dior Couture dress? Check. Louis Vuitton shoes? Check. Jimmy Choo bag? Check. Tommy Binns (whoever that is) jewels? Check. So yeah, that’s how she rolls. Other celebs were at the premiere as well– Colin Farrell, Michael Ealy and Kate Beckinsale were all looking quite good– but soon-to-be-Mrs.-Timberlake‘s look was my personal fave. Check out the gallery so you can get your oohs and aaahs on.
Miley Cyrus‘s friend Vijat Mohindra recently posted some very steamy pics of the newly-engaged singer/actress on his photography website, and there is some talk that this was not the agreement. Allegedly, the photos– especially one in particular which showcases a nude Miley in the bathtub– were meant for Miley‘s fiancé Liam Hemsworth, and no one else was to see them. Well, they’re online now, so here’s hoping this is just a rumor. I’m not trying to break up a happy home, if ya know what I mean :) Check out the pics inside!

Julian Farino has been changing our lives for many years, although most of us wouldn’t recognize his name. He directed many episodes of HBO‘s Entourage (Emmy-nominated four times), and also brought us a few episodes of The Office. Now he’s making his feature film directorial debut with The Oranges, and I just had a grand ol’ time watching the trailer. I’d have to say that I’m most excited about the cast for this film: Hugh Laurie (House!) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girls!) play an extremely unlikely (and barely legal) couple who combat the response (and disapproval) of respective family members, played by Catherine Keener (who I luuuurve!), Allison Janney, Oliver Platt, and Adam Brody. I haven’t seen a lot of Brody‘s work but if you watched The O.C. or Gilmore Girls, you know the name. The other actors are insanely brilliant and I expect very good, very hilarious things. Peep the trailer and tell me what you think. Can Laurie and Meester pull off the odd couple to end all odd couples?
And shouts-out to Jersey! The film is set in West Orange– right next door to Orange, New Jersey, where I lived for about a year. Good times, good time.
