Will he bring The Rock Obama back?
Last week I read a really smart takedown of one of Saturday Night Live‘s most ridiculously un-funny sketches, the parody of Empire. The whole premise of the joke was that white people aren’t watching the show, which is honestly just stupid when the show has been breaking ratings records all over the place. I get that the idea of Chris Hemsworth on Empire was funny, but the joke didn’t work for a lot of us. Suffice it to say, I haven’t been especially pressed to watch SNL lately. But maybe The Rock will change that. He’s hosting soon, and I might have to tune in for this one. Click inside for more!
A history-making ad campaign
Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with the many celebrity Christian Dior campaigns. I’m not ashamed to admit that there may or may not be a Marion Cotillard Dior handbag ad hanging on my wall… because that is how much I adore those campaigns… but mainly Marion. Anyway, we now have some more gorgeous ads to get excited about, and Rihanna is also making history. She’s just been announced as the first black woman to be named the face of a Christian Dior campaign. Click inside for more!

Word is, it's about her ex-fiancé, Future
Not every artist can get me excited about a new video, but Ciara is definitely one of them. I practically fell over myself getting to the computer to watch I Bet. Because, CIARA. And her videos always make me strongly consider getting up and working out. Like, strongly consider it. Her latest visuals are as stunning as many of her older ones (though I have to admit, Ride is still my favorite). But even with Ballerina Ciara twirling around, everyone’s talking about the lyrics… and how much they sound like direct references to her ex-fiancé/IDIOT. Sorry, I know I don’t know them personally, but YOU DO NOT HURT THE CIARA! Anyway, check out the breakup anthem and tell me what you think! Me likey!

"I have nothing to hide”
Earlier this week, we saw the first photo of actor Charlie Hunnam on the UK set of Knights of the Roundtable, in which he stars as King Arthur, and today we learn a bit of exciting new Charlie Hunnam news. In a recent interview with Canadian Elle magazine, Charlie says that he would have no problem going full frontal in a project if asked. Charlie shares that he once filmed a full frontal scene back when he appeared on Queer as Folk in the UK but his manhood was censored and he was never allowed to show off what his mama gave him. Because he has got “nothing to hide”, Charlie says he’d be up for going full frontal again if need be … WHICH IS ONLY THE BEST NEWS IN THE WORLD. More »

So I just finished reading this article on TIME and it sent out a great message about International Women’s Day 2015: Awareness is not enough. This year’s theme is “Make It Happen,” and it’s a very specific call to action for all of us. Twenty years ago in 1995 at the Beijing Platform for Action Hillary Clinton declared “women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are women’s rights,” and that was a HUGE deal. Sadly, it’s still a powerful declaration, because we are still living in a world where people do not understand how much that seemingly simple concept is undermined on the personal, political, social, and economical scales. So I’ve been thinking about what I can do to celebrate International Women’s Day (today, and every day this year), and I want to hear about what small or grand thing you plan to do as well. Superheroes, all around
This was such a sweet story to wake up to this morning. A group of young patients at the Seattle Children’s Hospital got an incredible surprise from a couple of pretty cool superheroes yesterday, and they deserved every minute of it. Chris Evans and Chris Pratt had this silly little Super Bowl bet going, but in the end, they both decided to donate some of their time to a charitable organization. These pictures of the two of them at this hospital are really sweet. They also made posters for the kids, so yeah. Click inside for more!
Last night Beyoncé took to Instagram to remind us that 1.) she exists and 2.) her footwear is on fleek. I have to confess… I’m not even a member of the Beyhive and I kind of want these in my life. Not even, necessarily, to wear… but maybe just to look at because they’re pretty and fun and wait, no. They probably cost a bajillion dollars so they’re probably not the decorative item I’ve been looking for. Anyway, I assume every Beyoncé fan is now googling “Beyoncé Beyhive Shoes” right now. Smart, Hilarious, and NSFW
Yesterday I took a much-needed afternoon off and decided to stream Aziz Ansari‘s latest Netflix special, Live At Madison Square Garden. Oh. My. Gawd. I SO wish they had a clip of my favorite bit, in which Ansari brilliantly and hilariously describes some of the major differences between the experiences of men and women in this country. It was so awesome, and so feminist. I’ve been re-watching a bunch of the Louis C.K. standup specials that are also on Netflix (because yes, I’ve been in need of some serious laughs lately), and it’s always so great to see how my favorite comedians take on these issues. Ansari also addresses relationships and opens up (as only he can) about his life before and after his current relationship with Courtney McBroom. Peep the NSFW video above to hear him thank his parents for struggling, so he didn’t have to. Then please rearrange your life to watch this show today.
This could be awesome
Last year, I fell in love with FX in a big way. Fargo, and The Americans are two of the big shows that I haven’t even tackled yet, but I found myself falling madly in love with You’re the Worst and Married. Both shows dealt with relationships in a really fun and honest way—it’s something we’re also seeing on the new HBO series Togetherness. So I was psyched to hear that Jenny Slate, who had a role on Married, is getting a pilot on FX. Click inside for more!

We are not worthy/ready
I’m not even proud to admit this, but I basically never buy music anymore. Why haven’t I bought Azealia Banks‘ Broke with Expensive Taste yet? Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Print? What am I doing with my life?! Watching a lot of movies… and The Gilmore Girls, apparently. But there are a few albums that I know I will purchase, automatically, without even thinking—Kendrick Lamar‘s is definitely one of them. For many reasons. So I’m SO EFFING EXCITED to learn that his sophomore effort is mere DAYS away! Click inside for more!
