Living For The 'Applause'
I know for some people Lady Gaga is a polarizing figure– you love her or loathe her and there’s no in-between. But I’m in-between with this chick! I was totally not impressed with her Applause single when I first heard it, and wasn’t sure about her performance art movement, but I actually dug her performance when she opened up the 2013 MTV VMAs last night. It wasn’t over-the-top shocking and it wasn’t underwhelming either– at least not for me. I loved seeing Gaga dress up as various Gagas, ending with that ginormous hair from the V Magazine shoot and a friggen bikini, LOL. I really got the sense that she was sort of poking fun at herself, and those kind of performances always win me over. Can’t wait to hear what everyone thought of her act, and for those of you who might’ve missed– peep the video for more!
No. I don't think you understand. JT. SLAYYYYEeeeedddd.
So apparently. I was not ready for Justin Timberlake last night! On some real, for real shizz I just became a bigger fan of his than I ever thought I could be, and I’ll tell you why. He. Put. On. A. Show. Like, for reals. JT was the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and he did exactly what you’re supposed to do when you receive any award named after Michael Jackson– he entertained the living bejeezus out of us. Loved his performance, loved his medley of hits, and of course, there was the short but sweet, highly-anticipated *NSync reunion. Everyone was losing their shizz on Facebook when JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick hit the stage with Justin (hai PITNBr Dezden), and I felt like I could lit’rally hear the screams from Brooklyn, LOL. Peep the video for more!
What did you guys think of the performance? Were you disappointed by the reunion performance? Or too psyched to care that it only lasted, like 67 seconds?

Tay. Lo from the Block
A few days ago we got to see video of Taylor Swift dueting here in LA with indie darlings Tegan and Sara on their track Closer which was performed live in front of a sold out audience at the Staples Center. Last night, Taylor performed the last of a STRING of sold out shows at the Staples Center and this time brought out none other than Jennifer Lopez to duet with. The ladies performed a raucous (if a bit messy) duet of J. Lo‘s song Jenny From The Block. Check out the performance in full in the video embedded above then click below to see a few behind the scenes photos that were taken last night of Taylor and J. Lo hanging out backstage. More »
Mt. Vesuvius Is About To Get Turnt Up
I wasn’t especially excited about the new movie Pompeii… but then I saw this trailer and I was all like, ‘Oh! Abs!‘ Call me shallow, but the abs of Kit Harrington (Game Of Thrones’ Jon Snow) are doing it for me right about now. Paul W.S. Anderson‘s 3D disaster epic has just released a first look, and while we all know the story of the Roman city frozen (or burned, rather) in time after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, I bet you didn’t know that there was an epic love story going on all the while! The trailer gives off a 300 kinda vibe, which is fine by me. And again, abs. Peep the video for more!

'Blurred Lines' Le Deux?
A little while back we got to hear a new Robin Thicke track, Give It 2 U, featuring the new King Of New York (ahem), Kendrick Lamar. As we all know Robin pretty much had the best summer ever with the success of Blurred Lines, although now he’s in the middle of a serious legal battle with Marvin Gaye‘s family over a possible sampling issue. But Robin‘s pressing on, with new visuals to Give It 2 U, which now also features 2 Chainz. The video is very Blurred Lines with a little less nudity and a helluva lot more booty. Seriously. There’s even an Ass Float… LMAO. What?! Anyway, I love this song and I love, love, love that his son Julian Fuego makes an appearance and even shouts-out 2 Chainz at one point: hilarious. Peep the video for more and go to DirectLyrics to get lyrics to the song!
Thus far we’ve seen a teaser trailer for the forthcoming third season of the Showtime drama Homeland, as well as a full-length trailer for the series … today, we get to see the just-released third trailer for Homeland … and it’s a goody. As you can see in the video embedded above, love will be at the heart of the coming season. By using a cover of the Cure song Love Song, this teaser trailer sets the mood for the complicated relationship between Carrie (Claire Danes) and Brody (Damian Lewis) as it will unfold when the third season of Homeland debuts on Showtime on September 29. I can’t wait.

Last month, when Nine Inch Nails made their worldwide live return at the Fuji Rocks Festival in Japan, the new song Find My Way was debuted live for the first time anywhere. Today we get to hear the studio version of that song as it will appear on the album Hesitation Marks which is out next month. The studio version of Find My Way was debuted on Zane Lowe‘s show on BBC Radio 1 show last night and, naturally, has since been making the rounds online. Unlike Everything, the last new song that we got to hear from NIN, Find My Way sounds very much like a classic Nails track (while Everything sounds like a more interesting departure from the usual NIN fare). Click the embed above to hear the studio version of Find My Way (which you can compare to the live version HERE) and get excited! We are just about a month away from the release of the new NIN album Hesitation Marks!!!
The Full Trailer WIll Air During The MTV Video Music Awards
Fans of the Young Adult book series will be excited to know that Divergent the movie is fast-approaching. Shailene Woodley stars alongside Theo James, Kate Winslet, and– OMG! How did I miss the news about Tony Goldwyn (AKA President Fitz from Scandal) joining the cast?! Gahhh! So psyched! He doesn’t make it into this first teaser trailer (very little does) but I’m guessing this is just a little taste to get viewers geared up for the full trailer, which will premiere this Sunday during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. Peep the video for more!

HBIC 'N Out
Back before he met and married Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon hosted a little comedy show on MTV called Wild ‘N Out. Truth be told, I always liked that show so you can imagine my glee at learning that Nick brought new episodes of Wild ‘N Out back to MTV2. During a little skit called Let Me Holla, Nick and his co-star got a little surprise when Mimi herself showed up on set. Click the video above to see what went down. Wild ‘N Out may be Nick‘s show but this video goes to show that MC is always the one in complete control.
