Peace the Spork Out
Just before the start of the discussion panel for the HBO series Game of Thrones here at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, an In Memoriam video was shown to fans that pays homage to all of the characters who have died over the course of the first 3 seasons of the show. And, I’m serious … ALL of the characters who have died. The video also features the song It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday by Boyz II Men and, I have to say, it’s f*cking flawless. Check out the video above and be reminded of all the folks who got Peace the Sporked Out on Game of Thrones … thus far.
Spoiler Alert Warning, if you’ve yet to watch the show, obvs.
Super Friends, Together At Last
San Diego Comic-Con is the place where pretty amazing news breaks … and yesterday, some pretty effing amazing news was announced that will change the lives of comic book fans FOREVER! After a series of very successful movies based on Batman and a series of successful movies based on Superman, the decision has finally been made to made a movie where Batman and Superman will appear in the same film. For a while now, we’ve been hearing that DC Comics is looking for a way to make a Justice League movie (much like Marvel Comics did with their superhero group movie The Avengers) and it looks like this planned Superman/Batman movie will be the first step in that direction. No title has been announced and no plot details have yet been revealed but it was suggested that the movie was inspired by Frank Miller‘s graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. AHHH. It’s a lot to take in, click below to learn more. More »
All Kinds Of EPIC!
Awwww shiiizzzz! It’s here! We’ve seen previews, posters and promo images galore. But now we have our first look at the official full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire– and y’all are not ready! The trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con (where Trent is currently having the best time of OUR lives, lol), and now it’s available to the rest of us. This was especially exciting for me, since I haven’t even read Catching Fire yet (I know, I know), and some majorly epic plot details get revealed in this trailer. Like about 98% of moviegoers out there, I cannot wait for this to drop. Peep the video for more!
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theatres November 22nd.
Everyone's Screaming 'Oscar' For Idris Elba!
Earlier in the week we got our first look at the teaser trailer for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, the biopic starring Idris Elba as a young Nelson Mandela. The teaser alone had me excited for the film and today the full-length trailer is here! In just a few seconds, I realized that I legitimately know very little about Nelson Mandela and the revolutionary work he did prior to being imprisoned. Much of my knowledge– and perhaps the general public knowledge– pertains to his monumental release from prison after serving nearly 30 years, and his being elected the first black South African President of South Africa. But so much happened before that, and I think this movie is really going to bring that important story to life. Idris Elba looks like he really embodied the role, and everyone is screaming ‘Oscar,’ which would be amazing to see. Peep the video for more!
Robert de Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglass & Kevin Kline
Okay, so yes. It’s basically Hangover for the super-grown crowd but it looks so funny! Last Vegas stars Robert de Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglass, and Kevin Kline as four friends who head to Vegas for one last party. Kline‘s character is marrying a 32 year-old (Freeman‘s character notes that he’s got a hemorrhoid about the same age, so that’s awesome), and ish gets cray as the old gang starts running through sin city. The trailer is hilarious, and you have to see Freeman get all bad ass when he jumps out of this window to get to Vegas– total madness. LMAO. Peep the video for more!
Last Vegas hits theaters on Nov. 1.
Xtina Continues to Find Success with the Help of Others
Christina Aguilera‘s most recent album Lotus may have bombed like a mothereffer but that’s not stopping Xtina from going as hard as she can with the release of new music … the only problem is that the new music that is coming out from her belongs to other people and she just provides guest vocals. Nonetheless, the successful release of new music is a good thing no matter whose song it is. You may recall that Xtina was able to enjoy a hit song with her collaboration with Pitbull earlier this year on their single Feel This Moment and today we learn that she is trying to enjoy another hit with another collab. This time around, Xtina has teamed up with Latin artist Alejandro Fernández on his new single Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti. I’m ashamed to admit that I have no idea what a “ganas” are but from my terrible translation of the song title, it sounds like Alejando has a lot of them for Xtina today … or something like that. WHATEVER THE SONG IS ABOUT, Xtina is bringing it hard in the music video for this song … exposed bra, garish red lips, recycled hand thru hair dance moves and all. Check out the video for Hoy Tengo Ganas De It by Alejandro and Xtina and see what you think. Does Xtina have another hit on her manos?
SOLD OUT ALREADY
LA dj superstar DJ Vice has teamed up with Tumi luggage to release his very own DJ backpack and he did so with a little help from our girl Hustle Roses. For the past few months, Hustle Roses has been collaborating with Vice on some new music … new music that was used in a promo video that Tumi released to announce the Tumi X Vice DJ Backpack. Unfortunately, the bag was in such high demand that it sold out almost as soon as it was made available for sale online … but a second batch of backpacks is reportedly on the way. The MOST IMPORTANT THING TO NOTE, tho, is that music that Hustle Roses created for Vice is featured in the promo video embedded above. Check out the video above to hear Hustle Roses‘s music and see how sweet the Tumi X Vice DJ Backpack is. You can sign up HERE to be notified when the backpack will be made available for sale again. Here’s hoping this first collaboration between Hustle Roses and DJ Vice is the start of more beautiful music to come :)
Selena Gomez‘s new album Stars Dance hasn’t been released yet but the music video for the album’s second single has already made its way online (you may recall the first single was for the just-OK single Come and Get It). The video for her new single Slow Down kinda leaked its way to the Internets ahead of the release of Stars Dance this coming Tuesday and as you can see in the embedded video above, the video is HOT HOT HOT. Selena really goes for the sexy in this video which compliments the song very much, I think. Slow Down is a great track, deffo one of my fave singles of the Summer … and now we have the music video to go along with it. Click above to watch Selena‘s video for Slow Down and see what you think. It’s hot, right?

Green Day, Lady Gaga, Dead Prez, And More
In the past week, artists everywhere have been speaking out about George Zimmerman‘s acquittal in the Trayvon Martin case (and some are even creating new songs about the case). Zimmerman was found innocent of murder and manslaughter, although he killed a 17 year-old, unarmed boy who was walking home from the store. There is, sometimes, a belief that our generation is more complacent and less interested in political going-ons than past generations. This may be true– and may be a reflection of many things including the progress our parents made, technology, and a certain luxury these things have afforded us. But we are definitely not without our political concerns and many great songs over the past few years reflect those concerns. Some of the political messages are veiled with a pop sound or a sick beat (like Jay Z‘s 99 Problems), while others are anything but subtle (Green Day‘s Minority). Y’all know I’m a hip-hop head, so many of these songs reflect my personal taste. As always, feel free to add your own personal favorites in the comments. And click inside for more!
