Watch: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Hurricane’

Edited For Broadcast Version

Yesterday it was reported that the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their new single Hurricane had been banned from being broadcast on TV … but, that band has no bearing on the video being shown online so today we get to see the full, 13 minute music video in its full and uncensored form. Leto gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly about the banning of Hurricane and revealed that he was surprised the video didn’t pass muster with the network censors, particularly because the version they submitted was not as explicit as the original version they created:

Jared Leto wasn’t completely surprised when TV networks refused to air his band’s racy “Hurricane” video. “We always knew there would be some images that would have a tough time getting through,” says the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer, who called the Music Mix while driving to the band’s next gig in Brighton, England today. “But we didn’t expect this kind of pushback that we’re getting now.” In fact, the “Hurricane” clip that 30STM submitted for TV had already been edited down from the original. “I had always planned on having an explicit version and then a version that was not so explicit,” Leto says. “The version that we were trying to get on broadcast is not the explicit version, and that’s still having a really difficult time.” Leto wonders just why the networks were so offended by the video’s sexual images. “I’m not interested in provocation for provocation’s sake,” he says. “I just think it’s interesting that when you turn on the news or whatever else catches your interest, how much violence and negativity is available out there. As soon as it comes time for sexuality, it’s a big shock that people are sexual beings. It’s an interesting double standard to me.” Now he is debating how whether to edit “Hurricane” further to meet TV standards. “You know, at another time I would say, ‘Absolutely not.’ I would refuse 1,000 percent to change what I felt was important. But with this film, I’m not so sure I would cut off the nose to spite its face, so to speak…There are creative solutions to every problem. Certainly it would be difficult for people to air a 13-minute-long music video slash short film, regardless of the content. I think people have dealt with this in different ways in the past. People have made cuts.

Yes, people do make cuts … in fact, 30 Seconds to Mars made cuts to Hurricane so that it could be broadcast on MTV. The video, clocking in at 13 minutes long, has already aired on MTV in its censored version a few times. After the jump, check out the video in its edited for broadcast, NSFW form. While the video isn’t all that explicit, there is female nudity and there are many scenes that are deffo not suitable for watching at work … More »

Watch: Teddy Kisses Ian On ‘90210’

At last

After learning earlier in the year that 90210 would be introducing a gay storyline on the show, we learned back in August that actor Trevor Donovan (Teddy) would be the character gifted with the gay storyline. Actor/singer Kyle Riabko (Ian) was added to the cast as Teddy‘s love interest but, as those of you who have been watching the show all season know, Teddy‘s coming out has been a very long, very slow process. Last night, finally, Teddy came to his senses and realized that he has feelings for Ian … and the two shared their first kiss together:

Finally! After spending the last three months slow-burning the “Teddy likes boys” storyline, we finally got the goods on 90210. And it was kind of hot, right? And, better yet, the big moment wasn’t hyped to death, so we also got a bit of a surprise when Teddy grabbed Ian — the classmate he hooked-up with (off-screen) during a blackout at the start of the season — and planted a big ol’ sloppy on the kid while they were cleaning up after a West Bev luau. How’s that for putting the “man” in manual labor? The build-up, of course, has been the fun of Season 3 … Proving to be more than a human Ken doll, Trevor Donovan’s doing a solid job playing golden-boy Teddy’s confusion, denial and fear. Not that he should be too worried about his friends’ reactions. Ade was gay for a hot minute last season and this isn’t 1950. Or the military. Anyway, it looks like blondie’s gonna have to deal with all of that sooner rather than later now that he’s gone and cracked the lock on his closet door. Those kinds of secrets tend to come out faster than, well, Teddy has, around these parts. Plus, February sweeps is just around the bend. So really, the only question is who might have a problem with Teddy’s true identity? Liam could use a better plot. Or maybe we’ll see the ugly side of some of the grownups.

For the most part, I’ve been very happy with the way 90210 has handled Teddy‘s coming out story. I’ve been watching all season long and while his coming out has taken some time, I honestly feel the show is trying to give the viewer a realistic view of someone coming to terms with their homosexuality. No one ever just comes out as gay overnight. The feelings that come along with the realization and acceptance of one’s sexuality can be a very long, confusing and sometimes painful process. For some, it can take years to come out as gay … for others, it can take a lifetime. 90210 has done a great job with Teddy‘s storyline thus far, I am really looking forward to seeing how it continues to play out. So … in case you missed it or just want to see it in action again, you can check out Teddy and Ian‘s first kiss, after the jump … More »

Our first look at new footage from the film

The new Darren Aronofsky film Black Swan will open in select cities this Friday December 3 before it opens wider in theaters around the country but today we get our first look at some footage from the film as featured in a very cool new promo music video:

A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City ballet, Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company (Mila Kunis). From visionary director Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler), Black Swan takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect.

Mariah Carey Sells Her Wares On The Home Shopping Network

The pregnant diva does HSN

Back in September we learned that Mariah Carey had teamed up with the Home Shopping Network to create a line of products for her to sell to her loyal fans on HSN and at midnight last night (technically this morning), Mimi appeared live on air to peddle her wares. Here are a few screencaps and some deets from Mariah‘s appearance on HSN today:

Everybody loves a bargain especially at this time of year. And now the general public can adorn themselves with jewels just like pop queen Mariah Carey. The 40-year-old songstress and expectant mother appeared on the Home Shopping Network yesterday to promote her new line of costume jewellery and shoes, all of which is listed at affordable prices. During the live, late night TV slot, the chart-topping diva was surprised by husband Nick Cannon who called in while she was on air. The couple, who are expecting their first baby in the spring, told viewers the romantic story behind a $59.95 pink crystal ‘Ring Pop’ necklace that Mariah has designed for her collection. They then exchanged I love you’s and as well as their secret code ‘KKLB’, which a giggling Mariah left unexplained. Carey’s collection features items like pendants, crystal butterfly earrings, fur-trimmed suede boots, rhinestone sandals and chain-wrapped nylon boots. She tells ABC News Radio, ‘There’s gorgeous stuff. I’m not even kidding. I would definitely wear this stuff myself.’ Carey also insisted that she ‘really did design things myself and work closely with the team over at HSN…it wasn’t like, “Oh, just throw my name on things.’”

To be honest, I can believe that Mariah did some actual design work for this new line of products. Do I believe that she drew up detailed sketches for each piece? No. But I can see how she might’ve collaborated with artisans more talented in clothing and jewelry design to create these affordable pieces for her collection. After the jump, check out video of Mariah on HSN las night and hear hubby Nick Cannon‘s surprise call on air … More »

Watch: Kylie Minogue Performs At The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Duck Hunt

A couple of weeks ago we learned the happy news that Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue would be performing at The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC, NY and earlier today Kylie did just that. Riding atop a toy duck float, Kylie performed her hit song Get Outta My Way:

Today’s performance was the first time Kylie performed at The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and was very likely her introduction to many Americans who had yet to bear witness to her musical majesty. Altho Kylie‘s performance was just a short snippet of her song, I think it was well executed and fun. In case you missed it or just want to watch it again, you can watch Kylie‘s performance of Get Outta My Way at The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after the jump … More »

‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark’ Releases New Promo Photos

"It has rock and roll, it has drama and it has circus"

Previews for Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark are scheduled to begin this Friday but, if you can believe it, the big budget Broadway musical was *still* dealing with safety issues just last weekend! The official opening night of the show has already been pushed back to January but, ready or not, the show will go on this week … or so they say. The New York Times brings us our first real look at the show with the release of new photos from the production. We may have gotten our real first look at the show back in August but today we get to see some of the players, Spider-Man included, on the actual stage:

Nine years in the making, the moment came on Saturday to try running through the first act of the new musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” without stopping … In the last week, the nervous creators of the show, the most expensive in Broadway history, have begun to see the hand-drawn sketches, the digitally animated videos, the comic-book-inspired costumes come to life — to see “Spider-Man” finally, literally, take flight. “Creating art that has never been done before is the reason I get out of bed in the morning,” said Bono, leaning forward in Row A on the aisle, as Reeve Carney, playing Spidey, rehearsed onstage. “This feels like it.” Yet time is running out. At the creators’ last dinner on Friday night before Bono and the Edge left for a U2 tour in Australia, Bono said bluntly that the show “won’t get out of the gate” and have a chance to catch on with audiences if technical problems persist, as they have in rehearsals … Every week’s delay eats up to $2 million in lost revenue and, especially, higher expenses for technical rehearsals that require additional crew members. But Ms. Taymor said she hoped that those who bought tickets to preview performances, many of which have been offered at reduced prices, will “get to enjoy the art of making theater, as well as the magic of it.” Ms. Taymor has shielded that magic, as well as most other details of the show, from public view for years now … “What I really wanted to do, and what the ‘Spider-Man’ movies and comics haven’t done, is go to this absolutely fantastical, mythic place that is out of time, somewhere between reality and the dream world,” she said. And where the fits and the starts have occurred. At the Act I run-through, as Ms. Mendoza’s Arachne began descending, her spider-legged costume came undone because of a malfunction. Ms. Mendoza was hoisted back aloft; about 20 minutes later, the scene unfolded without incident.

The rest of this excellent NYT article can be read HERE. For the most part, the show sounds amazing … but if they cannot get the technical aspects down pat AND ensure the safety of the players and the audience, then the show is DOOMED. I suspect once the show opens to previews, there will undoubtedly be some technical problems (after all, all Broadway shows have technical problems). But Spider-Man‘s problems will sound even more severe because of all the hype … which could, eventually, sink the show. I want to see it. I’m hoping they manage to keep the show going long enough for me to be able to see it for myself. After the jump, check out a newly released preview video that shows behind the scenes footage from Spider-Man: Turn Off the DarkMore »

Sue Sylvester Marries Herself On ‘Glee’

Also, WATCH: Darren Criss and The Warblers perform 'Hey, Soul Sister'

Earlier this month Glee actress Jane Lynch spilled the beans that her character Sue Sylvester would be gettin’ hitched on the extremely popular FOX TV series. Last night, we got to see Sue Sylvester get married to … Sue Sylvester:

I had erroneously guessed that Sue would walk down the aisle in a white track suit wedding dress but she actually wore a blue one. Pink reader cmc correctly guessed that Sue would be marrying herself. Last night’s episode was pretty damn good but not because of Sue‘s wedding to herself but because of the other wedding that took place … that of Kurt‘s dad and Finn‘s mother. Finn‘s declaration and show of love for his new brother Kurt was so damn sweet, Glee damn near made me cry last night!

The ep ended with a bit of a surprise. In order to keep that ending unspoiled for those of you who have yet to watch the ep, you’ll have to go behind the cut to find out what happened and to watch a video preview of next week’s Glee performance of the Train song Hey, Soul Sister by actor Darren Criss (Blaine) and The WarblersMore »

First Look: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Hurricane’

The first footage from the 20 minute opus

Earlier this month we got our first look at Jared Leto stripped to the waist on the set of the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their new single Hurricane and today we get our first look at footage from the soon-to-be-released video, behold:

I understand the video for Hurricane will be a 20 minute long short film, which means that 30StM frontman Jared Leto has been taking advice from Kanye West (who just released a 30 minute music video of his own in support of his new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and who collaborates with 30StM on Hurricane). After the jump, check out 2 short preview videos that give us a taste of what’s in store when the Hurricane music video drops any day now … More »

Jake Gyllenhaal Busts A Move On ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

Jakey poo raps about Sarah Palin with Jimmy Fallon

In case you missed it, our dear Jake Gyllenhaal appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday to promote his upcoming new film Love and Other Drugs. But, before Jake sat down to chat with Jimmy about his film, he surprised the audience by coming on stage to perform a rap song about Sarah Palin with Jimmy Fallon. Here are a few screencaps and deets from this BRILLIANT performance of the song Gonna Eat That Talkin’ Sandwich: The Sarah Palin Song:

After setting female pulses racing with his recent nude magazine covers, Jake Gyllenhaal turned his talents to rapping last night. The actor in a appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with a boyband called The Banana Boyz. He then showed off his impressive dance moves as he joined the host in a very bizarre rap called Gonna Eat That Talkin’ Sandwich: The Sarah Palin Song. The … number was inspired by Jimmy’s rather odd claim that Sarah Palin reminds him of a BLT sandwich. And in his head-to-toe yellow outfit with a yellow bandana, Jake showed that when it comes to talent, he’s no one trick pony. But as Jake says, it all comes down to rhythm.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why Jake Gyllenhaal rules so hardcore. Fun stunts like this aren’t new for our dear Jakey poo, he is very happy to show off his fun and funny side as much as possible. This performance with Jimmy Fallon is just the latest reason why so many people heart him so. Check out video of Jake and Jimmy performing Gonna Eat That Talkin’ Sandwich: The Sarah Palin SongMore »
