The Gods are Good
Ryan Adams performed a concert at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, England last week and for his encore, he brought out actor and sometimes musician Johnny Depp to perform. The pair delivered a brilliant cover of the Danzig song Mother, which you can watch in full above. I can’t even tell you the jealousy I feel at the crowd who got to experience this performance live but … at least we get to enjoy this fanshot video. I’m seeing Ryan Adams in concert in Santa Barbara in a couple of weeks and I can only hope he’ll have something special planned for the SoCal crowd. Ryan + Johnny + Danzig = <3
In English, Spanish and French
Um. So. Ricky Martin has just released a new single titled Adiós that has been recorded in English, Spanish and English & French and as you can hear for yourself, the song is pretty horrendous in any language. Of the 3 versions, I guess the song sounds best in Spanish … but that is not saying much. I listened to the song a few times and, yeah, I just do not love it at all. Click the embed above to hear Adiós in English and see what you think. Am I being too harsh? You can click below to hear the song in Spanish and French to compare … or further torture yourself. Eek. 'The Way He Looks At Me'
Back in July we learned that Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor was still very hard at work, with collaborator Atticus Ross, on the soundtrack for the upcoming David Fincher film Gone Girl. Today we get our first listen of music from the soundtrack. Reznor has released a song titled The Way He Looks At Me for our listening pleasure. As you may recall, TR described the sound of the Gone Girl score as “the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors … The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.” I’d say this song fits that bill perfectly.

Um, HELLO?! Channing released a video explaining how you can apply to be an extra, which you can watch in full below. More »
This would have been incredible.
Seth Rogen and James Franco have some seriously hilarious Kanye West stories under their belt. This one is hilarious. Apparently, Kanye lit’rally called Seth Rogen up one day, and pitched him an idea that was probably the worst idea, but also would have been incredible. I’m so, so, sad that this didn’t happen. Remember the Bound 2 video? Yeah, no, me too. I’ve also deleted that from my memory for all time. But, remember Seth and James‘s Bound 2 parody, Bound 3? Of course you do. Well, Kanye loved that video so much, he made a special request to see it live… at his wedding. LMAO… please click inside for more!
"You might think, 'Who is this Harry Potter girl? What is she doing at the U.N.?'"
It’s Monday morning, so you know what that means—Shannon’s got feminism on the brain. Over the weekend, I’d been seeing this story about Emma Watson‘s speech on gender equality at the U.N., and finally got a chance to check it out. It is pretty awesome, and if I wasn’t already into Watson, I certainly am a fan now. I think what makes this speech different from other things I’ve heard or read about feminism, is that the actor pays special attention to the negative effects of gender inequality on men—as in, the emotional toll ideals of masculinity have on a person. PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum
I recently announced on Instagram that I’m trying a new thing called “going out,” (which means, specifically, leaving my house for non-work-related social events) and it’s been going really well. My favorite part of going out, so far, has probably been the return of alcohol in my life. Now that
tyrant King Josev (who has OMG been making me crazy with all his new advancements in getting around/knocking over/spilling/destroying everything in sight) is no longer nursing at night, I get to get my drink and my two-step on, and it’s been glorious. Last night, I drank. Sort of a lot. So much so that this post is going up about 3 hours later than I planned. But more important than the drinks was the Source 360 Wu-Tang Reunion Concert I went to. My partna-in-babymaking showed me the lineup earlier in the week, and we realized it was basically the concert we would design. Three of his faves (Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and Dipset—who we saw last year), plus two of my faves (Lil’ Kim and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), plus the guys who invented C.R.E.A.M.? It was honestly one of the best nights ever. And, once again, I was reminded that concerts are awesome, and I need to go to all of them. I’m going to start today by living vicariously through all of your concert experiences, so click inside for more!
It's going down tonight!
Okay, Good Wife fans. I’m not going to spoil you, but I will say that one of my writers at Paste just sent me her review of tonight’s season premiere and she gave a 10/10. She’s a tough critic, and the ONLY time she has given that score before was for the season finale of The Americans back in May. Check out the preview above for tonight’s Season Six premiere and GET READY/YOU’RE NOT READY!
