'All we wanted was a chance to talk/'stead we only got outlined in chalk'
D’Angelo took to the Saturday Night Live stage last night, and delivered a powerful performance of his song The Charade. Backed up by the Vanguard band, the singer and musician donned a hoodie while band members wore “I Can’t Breathe” and “Black Lives Matter” shirts. Peep the video above to see the The Charade performance, and click inside for their performance of Really Love. Aside for the political message, invoking the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, and Eric Garner, these performances just sound so beautiful. We see a lot of pop stars perform live, but there’s just nothing like seeing an incredible talent like D’Angelo take the stage.
Last weekend we got our first listen of Rihanna‘s new single FourFiveSeconds, which features Kanye West and Paul McCartney, and today we get our first look at the music video for the track. Ri Ri, Yeezy and Pauly Mac are sharing today a behind the scenes video that was shot on the set of the FourFiveSeconds video shoot and as you can see, they appear to be going for a very stripped down music video to go with the stripped down sound of the song. We don’t yet know when the finished video will be released for FourFiveSeconds but my guess is that the video’s release is imminent. Stay tuned.
Please tell me I'm not the only one watching this.
If you’re like me, you’ve given up on MTV‘s The Real World many times over. But, dammit, they got me back this season and I have to confess to being a loyal viewer of this show, which has been running since the beginning of time. I rolled my eyes when I saw the commercials for The Real World: Skeletons because it was just painfully obvious that the producers were reaching into their bag of tricks to figure out how to make the show more dramatic. It worked. It’s dramatic, and incredibly interesting. Click inside for more!
This is our country, these are our schools
Are any of you following the Humans of New York series? It’s incredible, and I’m going to go back and read some more entries after I write this, because I just need to keep hope alive. What you are about to see is a video of a police officer—wait, let’s just pause for a minute there. We have police officers in schools. Still not over that fact. And, come to think of it, I went to a school with security guards on the main floor (a performing arts school, believe it or not), so I guess I shouldn’t be that flabbergasted. So, yes, police in middle schools—great job, America. And this police officer took it upon herself to beat a 13 year-old girl with her baton, because the girl pushed her in the hallway. The girl had to be taken to the ER, where she received 10 stitches for the gash in her head. Would you believe me if I told you that THE GIRL (along with her two family members who tried to help her) WAS CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER? Click inside for more.
Plus, today's her birthday!!!!
Guys. Today is Kerry Washington’s birthday, and I am using it as an excuse to watch Django Unchained all day. So, Happy Birthday to our Scandal queen! She delivered a fantastic performance on Thursday night’s winter premiere, and then gave an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live after. I rarely watch these interviews, but I loved this clip because she opened up briefly about a lot of things. She talks baby Isabelle, her experiences as only child, and what it was like having a mom hell-bent on buying her mostly brown and black dolls (I can relate). Click inside for more!
The Voice returns with its 8th season on February 23 and, as you may know, will mark the return of Christina Aguilera in the coaches chair. Joined by her fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and newcomer Pharrell, Xtina is promising the new season will be one of epic proportions … or, at least, that’s what this first commercial for the new season is trying to convey. Click the embed above to see the Voice season 8 coaches battling it out in the Thunderdome for competitive reality TV show glory. The commercial is really over the top, I have to say. Enjoy.

"I have to make sure it's right"
Just a few days ago we learned that Christina Aguilera will be performing as the opening act at the NBA All-Star Game next month and today we learn that she has got some other things up her sleeve as well. Xtina gave an interview to Extra! TV to talk about her kids (son Max Liron and new baby Summer Rain), her return to The Voice for season 8 and she even teases a bit about the new music she is making … including a possible song with her Voice coach cohort Pharrell. Click the embed above to hear Aguilera talk about all of these topics and prepare yourselves … Xtina is coming back, y’all.
The Leaked IMAX Trailer
In December we got to see two, painfully short teaser clips for the forthcoming 5th season of Game of Thrones that will premiere on HBO in April. Today we get to feast our eyes on the first full-length trailer for GoT season 5 and it looks pretty damn epic. For the next week, the final two episodes of Game of Thrones season 4 will be shown in an cinematic re-cut on IMAX screens across the country and paired with those episodes is the first trailer for Game of Thrones season 5. An industrious fan managed to film the new GoT trailer and uploaded it to You Tube, which you can watch in full above. I suspect this trailer will be released officially online soon but, for now, this leaked IMAX trailer is good enough. The coming season looks INSANE! Have a look above and see for yourselves. Game of Thrones season 5 premieres on HBO on April 12.

He actually ran over 2 men but only killed 1
Hip Hop mogul Marion Suge Knight was arrested a short time ago after he turned himself in to police on murder charges after he fatally struck two men with his car yesterday, killing one. The video clip above features Suge arriving at the police station earlier this morning to be arrested, booked and charged for his latest crime … bail has been set at $2 million dollars. The hit and run incident was no accident, authorities say, and Knight has been charged with murder because altho he didn’t intend to kill the man he ran over, he DID try to run over another man he intended to injure and that alone is enough to charge him with murder. Check out the video above of Suge Knight calmly turning himself in to police and then click below for more details about what apparently went down yesterday. More »
Season 4, Episode 10
I don’t know if there’s anything more fun than watching Scandal with someone who has never watched Scandal before. It is an intoxicatingly hilarious experience. Last night I was live-tweeting Run, the Season Four winter premiere, and our TV Editor at Paste joined me—having only watched about three episodes of the show in her life. It was incredible, but especially because I was really just as confused as she was. AMAZING. And I have to admit, I was prepared to be kinda, sorta, not that into the episode but dammit. Shonda Rhimes knows I like when ish gets weird, and boy, oh boy. Did ish get weird. Click inside for more!
