"Had to dig deep and really play with some acting chops for this one!"
A few days ago, our dear Britney Spears released a short teaser clip for the upcoming music video for her current single Perfume. Today we get to see two new short snippets from the video ahead of its big premiere tomorrow. Britney posted the Perfume clips on her official Instagram profile and altho they are PAINFULLY short, they do give us a tiny taste of what’s to come. In the caption for the first video, Britney reveals that she had to “dig deep” and play with some “acting chops” for this video … which means we’re in for a CINEMATIC masterpiece, I’m sure. 'I Can Do WHATEVER I Want!'
Get ready for new visuals from the Queen Bey! Over the weekend a teaser for Beyoncé‘s Grown Woman video leaked and we all get a sneak peek at what’s to come. The fuzzy clip features Beyoncé doing a whole lotta booty-shakin’ to the Caribbean beat, and there’s a regal/Grown Woman/Bow Down Bitches-esque vibe to the whole thing. I also peeped Mama Knowles and my girl Kelly Rowland. Peep the video above for more!
Based On A True War Story
A star-studded cast has come together for the new movie from director George Clooney. Clooney is starring alongside Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, Bill Murray, and Jean Dujardin (The Artist) in The Monuments Men. The movie is based on the true story of a special World War II platoon who rescued famous art pieces from the Nazis. The trailer looks pretty good and I’m excited to see how Clooney does behind the camera again (this is his latest directorial feature since The Ides Of March). Peep the video for more!
Plus, The 'Anchorman' Cast Joins Paul Rudd For 'Afternoon Delight'
Last night Saturday Night Live did what people everywhere did the other night– clowned the ish out of the Sound of Music television special. I’m still making my way through some of the videos but I friggen love Paul Rudd and watching him go cray over One Direction was hilarious. Apparently, some folks are pissed off about the White Christmas skit, where Paul Rudd played a white Madea. Ummm, I loved it. Curious to hear what other people think. That-Ish-Cray Of The Day
Ummm, yespleasemorethankyou. The gods of video games have finally answered my call and have created a product that I’m totally okay with my boys playing. Folks, the Franz Kafka video game you didn’t know you’d been waiting for is finally here. I don’t play video games, but I am weirdly psyched about this, as it reminds me of the good ol’ days, studying literary theory at Sarah Lawrence and getting introduced to Kafka via great works like The Metamorphosis and A Hunger Artist. A Medley of Spears
Last week we got our first look at the newly released music video for Jamie Lynn Spears‘s new Country single How Could I Want More. Today, JL treats us all with a live performance of another of her new Country songs. Jamie Lynn has embarked on a short, intimate run of live concert performances to promote the upcoming release of her debut album and last night she performed the song Ms. Mississippi for a lucky group of fans. Midway thru the song, JL busted out a rendition of big sister Britney Spears‘s massive hit song Oops!… I Did It Again. She even managed to work in the hand-to-heart-pump dance move as she performed. And you MUST watch to the very end … JL gives our dear Britney a very sweet shoutout. Check out the video embedded above to watch the performance in full … or FFWD to the 2:05 mark for the start of JL‘s cover of Oops! I am in LOVE with this performance, are you?
Last month our dear Britney Spears shared a photo from the set of the music video of her new single Perfume and today she brings us a quick preview of the finished video. The full music video for the song will be released next week but in the meantime, we get a tiny taste of what’s to come with the just-released :36 second preview clip embedded above. While I can’t say that I’m really diggin’ on the way the video scenes are presented in this preview clip, I am excited to see how the final product turned out. Oh and as for all of that retirement talk we heard yesterday, I’m just going to pretend that IT NEVER HAPPENED. Nope, never happened at all.

Here's A Video Mash-Up To Prove The Point
It’s that time of the year, and we are about to be bombarded with all of those really cool mash-ups recapping all of the important going-ons. The other day we saw DJ Earworm‘s United State of Pop mash-up of the biggest pop hits of the year, but today we have something different. We’ve had plenty of great conversations on this blog about the portrayal of women in media– Miley Cyrus, Amanda Bynes and many others have given us plenty to talk about. While I don’t agree with every idea expressed in the video (for example, I loved Seth MacFarlane‘s boob song), some great points were definitely made. And I’m looking forward to another year of pop culture/feminist critique with all of you!
The FULL 80-minute Concert Performance
Last month I had the extreme pleasure of attending the Nine Inch Nails concert performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. At the time, I noted that the performance was being filmed … for something. Today, Trent Reznor has released that entire concert performance — in full, in HD — for free online. As I understand it, an expanded Blu-Ray/DVD version of this concert film will be released next Spring that will include extra bonus content in full 5.1 surround sound … but a quick look at the video presented here confirms that TR did not skimp on this free release. Nothing will be able to compare to seeing this show live in person … but this concert film is pretty damn close. I’m telling you, if you have yet to see any of the NIN Tension 2013 concert performances, you’re gonna wanna watch this LA performance in full. Please enjoy.
Saints & Sinners, Gods & Idols
Lana Del Rey has finally unleashed upon the world her much talked about/ballyhooed/anticipated short film Tropico online after she premiered the film at an event in Los Angeles, CA last night. The film has a run time of just over 27 minutes and is … well, interesting. The scenes look like they were shot using Instagram filters and opens with cameo appearances by Jesus Christ, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Lana in the guise of the Virgin Mary (which isn’t the only religious figure she portrays in this film) … then the really weird (artsy) stuff begins to unfold. If you have the time, it’s worth watching I think. I mean, Hello, we’ve been hearing about this damn Tropico thing for what seems like an eternity so now that it’s out, we might as well see what all the hoopla is about. Along with the premiere of this short film, Lana has announced that she is readying the release of her next album. Click below to find out more about her new music to come. More »
