A new 'Empire' soundtrack cometh
In early August, we got to see the first trailer for the forthcoming second season of Empire on Fox and today we get something even better. Fox has released two new original songs that will be featured on the show when Empire returns on September 23. The first song, No Doubt About It, was written by Ne-Yo and features Empire actor Jussie Smollet and rapper Pitbull on vocals. The second song, Ain’t About The Money, features Empire co-stars Smollett and Bryshere Yazz Gray. Click the embed above to hear No Doubt About It and below to hear Ain’t About the Money. Additionally, read on to learn more about these songs and their availability on the forthcoming soundtrack album Empire: Original Soundtrack from Season 2 Volume 1. More »
Coming September 22
The debut season of Scream Queens will premiere on Fox on September 22 and today, courtesy of show creator Ryan Murphy, we get our first look at the “super-sized” main title sequence to the show. As you can see above, this opening title sequence is really stylized and, honestly, is very cool looking. Each of the main actors are introduces in between scenes of the show’s characters screaming alongside the villainous devil character who will torment them on the show. I still have my doubts about Scream Queens overall but I must admit that I do like this opening main title sequence for the show. Scream Queens premieres on September 22.

With special guest stars Justin Bieber, Katy Perry & Beyoncé
LOL! Remember back in July when we saw that hilarious parody video that a fan put together that imagined a conversation between Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and others about their silly Twitter beef stemming from the MTV Video Music Awards nominations? Well, the same genius fan put together a new parody video that features Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and others conversing about their new beef from the VMAs itself. With special guest appearances by Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and — of course — Beyoncé, this new parody video is must see … as it will surely make your life better. Please enjoy.
'Sleepwalk' / 'Towhead' / 'Jeepers Peepers'
Just over a week ago, we got to see the first 2 promo videos for the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Hotel premiering on FX in October. Today we get to see 3 more promo videos, courtesy of show creator Ryan Murphy. The first of these 3 promos is embedded above and it is titled Sleepwalk. The other 2 promos are embedded below, Towhead and Jeepers Peepers. As you can see, each of these new promos is creepy as f*ck … as we’ve come to expect from AHS promo videos. We still have a few weeks to go before AHS: Hotel premieres on October 7 so we will likely get more promos in the near future. The lead up to new seasons of AHS is always fun … I just hope the pay off is worth it once the new season gets underway.
"I think Lily's thoughts, I dream her dreams"
Way back in February we got our first look at Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne in character in his new film The Danish Girl, which is the big screen adaptation of the novel written by David Ebershoff. Today we get our first look at Eddie in action as Lili Ebe in the just-released first trailer for The Danish Girl which, absolutely, will secure another Oscar nomination for Redmayne. I was lucky enough to attend an early screening of the biopic Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender this summer and I’m pretty convinced he will be nominated for the Best Actor award for his portrayal of the late Apple CEO. I am also completely convinced that Eddie Redmayne will be nominated and will likely be Fassbender‘s main competition for the award. Just as the trailer’s for Redmayne‘s film last year, The Theory of Everything, completely wowed me, I am equally impressed with this trailer for The Danish Girl. The film opens in select theaters on November 27 and will open wider in December. Have a look above at Eddie in The Danish Girl and get your first look at one of the films that will be in heavy awards contention come awards season next year.
"All hail Macbeth who shall be king hereafter"
Back in June we got to see the first, international trailer for the forthcoming new film adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s Macbeth — starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard — and today we get to see the just-released second, US trailer for the film. As you can see above, this second trailer for Macbeth is as dark and moody as the first trailer but it features quite a few different scenes from the film. As I made very clear before, I love Macbeth so much that the thought of our getting a feature film that stars Fassy and Marion in the lead roles is almost too much for me to handle. I am really impressed by what I’ve seen thus far and I am DYING to see the film in full. Macbeth opens in theaters on December 4 — just in time for the holidays! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Xmas than with the release of Shakesepeare‘s masterpiece Scottish play. Can’t. Wait.

'Burn It Up'
After many years away from the music scene, we learned earlier this year that Janet Jackson was not only releasing a new album in 2015 (titled Unbreakable) but that she would also be embarking on a world tour in support of the new music she has been working on in recent years. We are still waiting for the album (due out in “the fall” — no release date has yet been announced) to drop but last night, Janet kicked off her Unbreakable World Tour in Vancouver, British Columbia … much to the ecstatic glee of her fans. We’ve also been hearing that Missy Misdemeanor Elliott has been working on new music after many years away and last night, fans got to hear new music from both Missy and Janet during Jackson‘s tour opening performance (reportedly titled Burn It Up, tho that remains unconfirmed). Watch the fan-shot video above to see how Janet Jackson opened her new tour with a performance of a new song that features Missy Elliott and see, with your own eyes, how the new era of Janet Jackson music got underway. There are LOTS of great photos and videos that are making the rounds from Janet‘s Unbreakable Tour kick-off performance last night so stay tuned for more … but right now, please enjoy this video of Janet Jackson LIVE in concert again. She is coming to your neck of the woods in concert, are you ready?
Back in mid-July, we learned the very exciting news that Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees was asked to compose a piece of music for the series finale episode of Hannibal. Over the weekend, that episode of Hannibal — The Wrath of the Lamb — aired here in the US and we finally got to hear this new piece of music. Siouxsie collaborated with Brian Reitzell on the song Love Crime and as you can hear above, it is a hauntingly beautiful song that not only speaks to the dark beauty of the show but also reminds us of Siouxsie‘s immeasurable talent. Click the embed above to hear the song in full and then click below to read the lyrics. More »
