In the wake of the tragic elementary school shooting that left 20 children and 7 adults dead early Friday morning, Saturday Night Live chose to open its holiday episode last night with a live performance of the Xmas song Silent Night by The Manhattan Children’s Chorus. No jokes, no skits … just a group of children singing a lovely holiday hymn. It was a powerful way to open the show and a poignant tribute to the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School. Well done, SNL. Very well done.

Homegirl Settled Both Cases
Back in September we learned that actress turned trainwreck Amanda Bynes was formally charged with two counts of hit and run after she allegedly struck two different vehicles while driving around here in LA. Later in the month, Amanda‘s attorney entered formal pleas of Not Guilty on both charges. Today we learn that both hit and run charges leveled against Bynes have been dismissed … because she successfully settled with both plaintiffs, despite disapproval by the LA City Attorney. She got off, y’all. More »

Suicide Notes Reveal New Details
When we first heard about Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who committed suicide after being the victim of the Kate Middleton hospital prank, a lot of us wondered about who (if anyone) was to blame for the tragedy. Fingers were pointed at the radio station DJs who made the prank call (they’ve since been taken off the air, and spoken out to voice their regret), but many of us assumed that the prank alone could not have been the reason for Saldanha‘s death. Hospital officials claimed to have been supportive of the nurse following the prank, but new details are emerging that might prove otherwise. Click inside for more.

Behold, The Heene Boyz
Remember back in October of 2009 when the world was captured by the so-called Balloon Boy who was believed to have flown away in a homemade weather balloon accident? As you may recall, it was later found out that the “accident” was actually a hoax and Balloon Boy‘s father Richard Heene was sent to jail to pay for the crime. A year later we learned that Balloon Boy Falcon Heene and his brothers Bradford and Ryo were starting a band. Well, today we learn that the band now has a name — The Heene Boyz — and they play metal music. Oh and their father Richard is still doing everything he can to promote his children for financial gain so … yeah. The Balloon Boyz are growing up … and rockin’ out, apparently. More »
Back in April of this year, Paramount Pictures released 2 action-packed trailers to promote the May release of the sequel film G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Then, just a few weeks later, the decision was made to delay the film’s release until next year. At the time, it was reported that the film delay was due to a decision to convert the film to 3D. While that is part of the reason why the film was delayed, it was also reported that the delay was due to reshoots that would allow Channing Tatum‘s character Duke to be featured more heavily in the film. Duke was originally going to be killed off early in the film but now that Tatum is a HOT actor (and People‘s Sexiest Man Alive), the decision was made to not kill him off. Today we get to see the first new trailer for the much-delayed Retaliation which is now set for a late March 2013 release. I, personally, am still looking forward to the release of this film. This trailer looks great. Do you agree? Are YOU at all interested in this G.I. Joe sequel?
So, for the past week or so Lindsay Lohan has been totally enamored of Max George of The Wanted. First she stalked the boy band here in the US, then she finally got her hands on Max himself … and his clothes. Then we learned that Lindsay decided to skip out on going to court so that she could follow Max and The Wanted on tour over seas. Today we learn that there may be trouble in paradise. After Max referred to Lindsay as a “groupie”, her lurve for him reportedly cooled off … to the point where she unfollowed him on Twitter! Gasp! Could this be the end of Lindsay‘s life as a boy band groupie? More »

The TV Guide
So, back in February Mattel announced that they would be manufacturing a real life hoverboard just like the one featured in the film Back to the Future II. The board, they said, would be an exact scale replica … tho, unfortunately, it wouldn’t actually hover. In March, the company started taking pre-orders for the hoverboard and, of course, I placed my order. After all, I already have the shoes to go with it. Yesterday, my hoverboard arrived and, well, it was only one of the funnest days ever. More »
A Storm of Sword
Back in September we got our first look at the first promo photo from the forthcoming sequel/prequel/whatever film The Wolverine, which stars Hugh Jackman as the titular X-Men character. In October, we got to check out the film’s first teaser poster. Today we get to check out a just-released motion poster that features a sword-wielding Wolverine crouched in a Batman-like pose high above Tokyo, Japan. As you can see below, the rain is falling all around and, well, as with all motion posters, it really needs to be seen to be fully enjoyed. Check it out. More »
