"We will now pay artists during the trial period."
So apparently, if you want something done, get Taylor Swift to do the job. Yesterday we read an open letter that Swifty wrote to Apple Music, in which she explained why her latest album will not be offered on the new streaming service. She politely attacked Apple for their 3-month free trial policy, during which time artists, writers and producers will not be paid. I certainly didn’t expect to wake up and see that Apple was like, “Okay, Taylor. Done.” But that’s exactly what happened. Click inside for more!

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum
Every week we gather round the YATNB proverbial table and open up about various things—like who we’d want to play us in the movie of our lives, and enviable celebrity Twitter interactions. One of my favorite YATNB discussions is probably the one where everyone shared their most memorable concert-going experiences. You all know that I love the PITNB community, and we’ve had some really fun discussions here. Lately, I admit that it’s been difficult for me to understand some reactions to certain stories in the news and on this blog. And while I still want to talk about what happened in Charleston, South Carolina, I want to open up the conversation to a bigger question of forgiveness (which might even be more appropriate, given today’s holiday). These pics = everything
Oh, I just love when dope people who do dope things hang out together! So, look. I’m not gonna make you writhe with anticipation. This is not, exactly, the Kanye West/Outkast collaboration we’ve maybe been waiting for. I know—totally disappointing. But Kanye West and André 3000 and Big Boi were all hanging out in Atlanta last night/early this morning and that’s plenty to get excited about. Click inside for more!
This Judge is a disgusting racist, so this should all go well
Here is what I recommend to anyone seeking happiness in this world. Do not read, ever. Do not make yourself aware of anything happening, ever. Don’t read the comments, don’t read the articles, and don’t follow the reporting of the Charleston terrorist attack. Because if you do, you’ll learn stuff about the Confederate flag and why it and all that it represents is still a part of the Southern culture/mentality. You’ll see headlines like THIS, to help you connect with and understand the white man and proud racist who killed nine people in a historically black church. And then you’ll find out that the judge appointed to bring justice to those nine people and their families, is the kind of guy who uses the word “nigger” in a courtroom, when he deems it appropriate. So I’m glad to see Mia Farrow and Nicki Minaj bringing attention to this horrifying news (on top of horrifying news) to their followers. Click inside for more. Or, if you want to be happy today, go back to sleep.

On Your Knees
On Tuesday we learned officially that Starz will produce a TV series adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s novel American Gods with producer Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) at the helm. Today we get to see a couple of pieces of concept art that Bryan and Neil have released for the show. It’s unclear how early in the process production of American Gods the TV series is but if we are seeing concept art already, then some bit of work has been done on the show. Click below to see this American Gods concept art and read the official plot synopsis released for the forthcoming series. More »
Earlier this week, Janet Jackson shared a behind the scenes video from the back up dancer auditions she held here in LA for her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour. A couple of days later, she released a short video clip that features a snippet of NEW MUSIC from her new, as-yet untitled album (due out this fall). Today, Janet does us one better … she has just released a new back up dancer audition video that features NEW MUSIC. The clip shows a few of the dancers who were selected to go on tour with her and the music, sigh, the music is 100% purely Janet Jackson. Have a look/listen below. More »

Prepare to get slimed
Last week, we learned the happy news that actor Chris Hemsworth has been added to the cast of the all-female led remake of Ghostbusters where he will play the receptionist (Gene?). Today we learn from director Paul Feig that this new incarnation of Ghostbusters will begin filming production today. Feig posted a fun photo on his official Twitter profile yesterday announcing the start of filming production today and as you can see below, he used a bit of green ectoplasm slime to make the announcement. I am so freaking happy that this movie is being made, I cannot wait to see how it all turns out. More »

While I’ve been distracted by the almost release of Madonna‘s (messy) music video for Bitch, I’m Madonna, Janet Jackson quietly released a short snippet of NEW MUSIC on her official Twitter profile. The song title isn’t revealed in the tweet below but this clip of music starts out with the lyric, “I lived through my mistakes / It’s just a part of growing“. Handwritten lyrics to the song are featured in the 43 second song clip, which you can watch below. It’s a slower song but I have a feeling it will be like the calm before the storm. Stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and have a listen of this first new piece of Janet Jackson music in an ice age. Woot! More »

A new box office KING is crowned
In the wake of the news that Jurassic World set a new opening weekend box office record, besting the old record held by 2013′s The Avengers, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has offered his public congratulations to Universal Pictures (and the producers and actors) on their box office accomplishment. Feige shared a fun photo below that shows KING Chris Pratt riding atop a Tyrannosaurs Rex (who wields Thor‘s hammer Mjolnir in one of his tiny hands) as the assembled Avengers look up in questioning awe of his theatrical might. It’s not often that this kind of sportsmanship is made public in Hollywood so I think it’s something that is worth sharing far and wide. Have a look below. More »
Princess Sara Beth, actually
Altho it has been many, many, many years since we’ve seen or heard about Britney Spears‘s pet chihuahua Bit Bit, I always assumed that the little pooch was passed on to another loving family and continues to live a life of happy dog bliss. Today we learn that Britney has brought another pet dog into her life, a dog she has named Princess Sara Beth (tho it’s possible the Princess part is merely a title and not part of her actual name). Britney shared a photo of her new little princess on her official Twitter profile and as you can see below, the little miss is literally sitting in the lap of luxury as the newest member of Britney‘s family. Meet Princess Sara Beth below. More »
