"See u at the Marbella Hotel soon"
Last weekend we learned that our dear Britney Spears is back in Las Vegas, NV hard at work entertaining audiences with her concert residency Britney: Piece of Me at the Axis Theater inside the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Today we learn that Britney‘s hard work will continue this fall with a guest appearance on the hit CW series Jane the Virgin. The CW announced yesterday that Britney will be making an appearance on Jane the Virgin, a fact that Britney confirmed via Twitter after the initial announcement was made. Click below to read what was said about Britney‘s upcoming guest appearance on Jane the Virgin and see a really cute photo of Britney and her mom Lynne at brunch yesterday, right around the time news of her guest spot was announced. Power in Social Media
Last night I was up late and was saddened to see that after an entire day of peaceful marching and gathering (which I’m sure received little news coverage), the Mike Brown one-year memorial protest ended with an 18 year-old boy getting shot by the police. He’s now in critical condition and has been accused of shooting at the police (you can understand why I’m not ready to report this as truth). Black Twitter has been my go-to for so many of these stories—Sandra Bland, Sam DuBose, Christian Taylor—all stories I learned about first online. The New York Times asked [social] activists DeRay McKesson, Johnetta Elzie and Zellie Imani to read some of their tweets and reflect back on the year since Ferguson.
And this: “Everybody want me to be calm—do you know how them bullets hit my son? What they did to his body as they entered his body?”
"Love love love this song. Heartbreaker sounding version."
Earlier this week, we learned that singer/songwriter Ryan Adams started recording his version of Taylor Swift‘s album 1989 as if it were performed by the members of The Smiths. A day later, we got to hear a snippet of his rendition of her song Out of the Woods. Today we get another update from Ryan on the recording process of his version of 1989 and we get to hear samples of his rendition of her song Bad Blood. As you can read below, Ryan‘s final mastered version of Bad Blood appears to be completed and based on what we can hear from his preview, he is certainly on track for creating a stunning piece of musical mastery. The recording of '1989' continues in earnest
Yesterday we learned the truly amazing news that Ryan Adams has decided to record Taylor Swift‘s album as if it were played by the members of The Smiths and today we get to hear preview samples of what his version of her song Out of the Woods sounds like. Ryan shared two short videos on his official Twitter profile of his new version of Out of the Woods and as you can hear below, he has truly transformed the song into something else entirely … something truly wonderful. I’m still not sure what Ryan plans to do with his version of 1989 once he is finished recording it but based on the samples he’s shared thus far, I am now in desperate need for this album to be released in its entirety. BUT, nothing official has been announced just yet
Early last year, we started hearing new rumors that the Spice Girls were planning to get back together or either a new concert tour OR a concert residency in Las Vegas but nothing really came from any of those rumors. It was suggested that the Girls were planning to reunite without Victoria Beckham and she gave them their blessing … but, again, nothing came from those particular rumors. Today we have a NEW rumor making the rounds that the Spices are ready to reunite for a new tour sans Beckham next year to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Altho nothing has been officially announced, a report from The Sun claims that an official announcement will come by year’s end and on Twitter, some of the Spices are having fun with this new reunion talk. There has been a lot of talk about a Spice Girls reunion in recent years but with their 20th anniversary year looming, I have a feeling that their much-rumored reunion will become a reality. More »
Caitlyn wants to be your #SocialMediaQueen
Cailyn Jenner, the person who holds the record for the fastest Twitter follower count to 1 million, has been nominated for the Social Media Queen award at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards against some stiff competition (Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift). As a result, Caitlyn felt compelled to snap and share her first selfie photo on her official Twitter profile because, as she says, a person cannot be crowned social media queen without sharing a selfie. Click below to see Caitlyn Jenner‘s first selfie and see if YOU think it is a photo worthy of someone who might be named the Social Media Queen at the Teen Choice Awards this year. More »
He *literally* rocked his pants off O_O
So, um, Lenny Kravitz performed a concert at the Gröna Lund theme park in Stockholm, Sweden yesterday and suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction of EPIC proportions. During the FIRST SONG of his set, Lenny squatted down in a rocker pose and spread his legs so wide that he split open his leather (pleather?) pants so that ALL of his goods spilled out in the faces of the hapless audience members in the front row of his show. It should come as no surprise that Lenny likes to wear his skin tight pants without any underwear underneath, which I’m sure usually works out pretty well for him. But when his pants split wide open at the crotch, well, as you can see below, his decision to go commando didn’t work out well for him at all. Whoops! More »

His 'Grand Finale' will be released on August 7
For 15 years, we’ve been hearing about Dr. Dre‘s “new album” in one form or another. We would hear rumors and reports, then nothing … then more rumors … then delays … it was supposed to be titled The Chronic II, then it was supposed to be titled Detox and it was meant to be his career masterpiece and, yet … nothing ever came. Today, tho, at LONG last … we learn that Dr. Dre will finally release his next album next week … on Friday August 7. The Detox album has been scrapped … this new album is titled Compton: A Soundtrack and it will feature artists like Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Snoop Dogg. The songs on this 16-track album, which Dre himself calls his “grand finale”, were inspired by the making of the forthcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Wow. Click below to see the tracklisting for Compton and watch a short video of Dre announcing the release of his NEW album. More »
Family infighting haunts Bobbi Kristina to the very end
As we learned earlier this week, Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s funeral is taking place today at St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA and, very sadly, it’s not the mournful, respectful, loving affair that it should be. As you may recall, we learned previously that the two sides of BK‘s family — the Houstons and the Browns — couldn’t agree on how best to memorialize Bobbi Kristina, which got the family feuding into full swing before the funeral even took place. Today we learn that the funeral invite that was sent to family members caused strife between BK‘s aunts Pat Houston and Leolah Brown … and the infighting has reached a point where the two sides of the family are distrustful of one another … which is absolutely the worst way to memorialize Bobbi Kristina but, sadly, is par for the course for the family drama that she endured her entire life :( UPDATE: Bobbi Kristina‘s funeral service turned ugly, unfortunately. Earlier this month we learned that former One Direction member Zayn Malik possibly “broke up” with his new producer BFF Naughty Boy after the two got into a very public Twitter feud (you may know that Zayn and Naughty had been inseparable since Malik left 1D earlier this year). Today we learn that Zayn‘s aspirations to become a solo artist are moving forward, even without Naughty Boy at his side. Zayn signed a record deal with RCA Records in an attempt to show the world who he “really is”. Zayn happily shared a photo and his new record deal news on his official Twitter profile, all of which you can see below. More »
