CAN THIS ALBUM COME OUT ALREADY?!
Thus far, in the recording process of his version of Taylor Swift‘s 1989 album, Ryan Adams has given us previews of his renditions of Out of the Woods, Bad Blood, Style and Blank Space. Today, because he just LOVES to tease us, Ryan shares a clip of his rendition of Taylor‘s song Shake It Off, just about one year after she released the song herself. Altho we know that Ryan has recorded and produces a rough mix of his version of 1989, we still don’t know when (or if) we will ever get to hear the finished product. This clip of Shake It Off only makes my desire for the album’s release even stronger. Have a listen below. More »
After we learned earlier this month that Ryan Adams is recording his own version of Taylor Swift‘s album 1989, he shared with the world clips of his renditions of her songs Out Of The Woods and Bad Blood. Today we get to hear clips from his covers of the songs Style and Blank Space from his 1989 recording sessions. We also learn today that his recording of 1989 has a “rough mix” now, which means that once mastered … the album SHOULD be ready for release … I hope. At this point, we still don’t know what will come of Ryan‘s recordings of Taylor‘s songs but OMG, he better release them all in full. For now, let’s enjoy the clips below of Ryan Adams‘s version of Taylor Swift‘s songs Style and Blank Space. More »
"calm your knickers before them dentures fall out"
A few weeks ago, Taylor Swift got into a short Twitter feud with Nicki Minaj after she took mistaken umbrage to a few tweets that Nicki posted about how unsatisfied she was over the MTV Video Music Awards nominations. Today, Taylor‘s boyfriend Calvin Harris got into a Twitter feud of his own with ex-One Direction member Zayn Malik … over Taylor Swift‘s honor. Zayn retweeted and commented positively on a tweet that questioned Taylor‘s motives when she stood up to Apple Music and won. Calvin didn’t like what Zayn had to say and he tweeted in response … and, of course, Zayn responded to his response. It was a back and forth of he tweeted / he tweeted, which you can see for yourselves below. More »
Meet the Receptionist
Back in June we learned that actor Chris Hemsworth has been cast in the role of the receptionist in the forthcoming female reboot of Ghostbusters and today we get to see Chris in action, in costume, on set. As you may recall, we’ve previously seen the main cast of Ghostbusters in costume but at last, we get to see Hemsworth all gussied up for his role in the movie. As you can see below, Chris is wearing a Ghostbusters uniform but my guess is that it’s not an outfit that he will wear for very long in the movie (he is, after all, just the receptionist). Click below to see this first photo of Chris Hemsworth in Ghostbusters looking all ghostbustery. More »
"Don't you dare let their laughter extinguish your ambition"
As you all know by now, there have been many times when J.K. Rowling has taken to Twitter, and won the whole damn thing. My personal favorite “J.K. Rowling wins Twitter” story is the one where someone thought they could come at Serena Williams on her timeline, and she destroyed them in 140 characters or less: .@diegtristan8 “she is built like a man”. Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You’re an idiot. It felt good to read that burn, and it feels good reading her advice to aspiring writers. Yesterday, a young woman in Egypt opened up about gender bias in Egypt and the author shared some words of wisdom. Click inside for more!

"I am going to step away from the game at this time"
Michael Sam made sports history back in February of 2014 when he came out publicly as a gay man right before he was to be drafted to play professional football in the NFL here in the US … and a lot has happened since that time. In June of 2014, he signed a 4-year contract to play football for the St. Louis Rams … 2 months later, he was released from his contract and was cut from the team. In September of 2014, he was signed to play football for the Dallas Cowboys … 1 month later, he was cut from that team as well. In spite of all of this, Sam got engaged to his longtime boyfriend Vito Cammisano in January of this year and joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in March (he lost). In May it was announced that Michael Sam signed to play professional football in Canada and then in June, he ended his engagement/relationship with Vito. Today we learn from Sam himself that he has decided to quit playing football altogether due to mental health concerns. Without question, he has been through a lot in the past year and it looks like it has all caught up with him. More »

Power in Social Media
Last night I was up late and was saddened to see that after an entire day of peaceful marching and gathering (which I’m sure received little news coverage), the Mike Brown one-year memorial protest ended with an 18 year-old boy getting shot by the police. He’s now in critical condition and has been accused of shooting at the police (you can understand why I’m not ready to report this as truth). Black Twitter has been my go-to for so many of these stories—Sandra Bland, Sam DuBose, Christian Taylor—all stories I learned about first online. The New York Times asked [social] activists DeRay McKesson, Johnetta Elzie and Zellie Imani to read some of their tweets and reflect back on the year since Ferguson.
And this: “Everybody want me to be calm—do you know how them bullets hit my son? What they did to his body as they entered his body?”
"Love love love this song. Heartbreaker sounding version."
Earlier this week, we learned that singer/songwriter Ryan Adams started recording his version of Taylor Swift‘s album 1989 as if it were performed by the members of The Smiths. A day later, we got to hear a snippet of his rendition of her song Out of the Woods. Today we get another update from Ryan on the recording process of his version of 1989 and we get to hear samples of his rendition of her song Bad Blood. As you can read below, Ryan‘s final mastered version of Bad Blood appears to be completed and based on what we can hear from his preview, he is certainly on track for creating a stunning piece of musical mastery.
