The ignorance is real
So, I did not watch the MTV VMAs last night, although I did have a blast following much of the shenanigans on Twitter. One of the biggest issues people had with the show was host Miley Cyrus. I think I expected she would wear… exactly what she wore. And I knew she’d probably, like, show her boobs or something. But I was really surprised about her using the word “mammy” in some apparently not-very-funny skit with Snoop Dogg. Why was I surprised? I dunno… because I’m ridiculous and I expect that, even if it was her idea, MTV would have been like, “Nah. We can’t let you invoke that dangerous racial stereotype, especially while you’re culturally appropriating the hell out of dreadlocks.” But that’s not what happened. Click inside for more.
"It's a wrap folks!"
Earlier this week we learned that filming production has wrapped on the set of the Marvel Studios sequel film Captain America: Civil War. Today we learn from director David Ayer that filming production has also wrapped on his DC Comics superhero film Suicide Squad. For months now, we’ve been seeing photos from the set of Suicide Squad and today we learn that the party is over, the film is in the can and the post production is now underway. Ayer gathered together the cast and the crew of Suicide Squad for a massive family photo and shared it on his official Twitter profile as a It’s a Wrap send-off. Click below to see the photos he shared online. More »
Earlier this week, we got our first listen of Demi Lovato‘s new song Confident, which is the follow-up to her summer smash hit single Cool For the Summer and, we now know, is the title track of her new album. Demi confirmed that the title of her new album is, indeed, Confident with the release of the cover artwork for the release on her official Twitter profile. As you can see below, Demi‘s album cover is pretty damn sexy, if I do say so myself. I am in love with both singles Cool For the Summer and Confident and, as such, am extremely excited for the release of Demi‘s new album. Check out the artwork below and get excited with me. More »

Ever since the all-female cast reboot of Ghostbusters was announced, the film has attracted more than its fair share of haters and naysayers. Earlier today, actress Melissa McCarthy shared a photo on her official Twitter profile snapped on the set of Ghostbusters that features the women who make up the cast and the crew of the reboot film in a proud display of Girl Power! As you can see below, the Ghostbusters cast are front and center holding up a a banner and they are surrounded by many (if not all) of the women who are working behind the scenes on this new Ghostbusters movie. It’s a really remarkable photo, check it out below. More »

"Don't worry though"
Yesterday we learned of a horribly tragic report that made the bold claim that the members of the British boyband One Direction are planning to “separate” in order to take on individual solo projects after they release their next album next year. At the time of the reporting, the PR team for 1D offered suspicious “no comments” in response to the break-up claim. Today we are hearing from 2 members of One Direction who insist that the group is NOT breaking up for good and clarify that the group is merely “taking a break” from boybanding … which, I’m sure may agree, sounds an awful lot like a prelude to a break-up. BUT, a promise is a promise and Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson SWEAR that we shouldn’t “worry” because One Direction isn’t “going anywhere”. More »
Last week, we got to hear a tiny portion of Ryan Adams‘s cover of Taylor Swift‘s song Shake It Off, as featured Adams‘s version of Swift‘s album 1989 — which he has been recording for a few weeks now. Today we get the “update people have been asking for” regarding the progress of Ryan‘s version of 1989 … and it’s a good one. Ryan tells us that the album will be fully completed this week and he suggests (without coming right out and saying so) that the album may be released “very soon”. As you can read below, Ryan says there is only one step left for the album to be completely finished and … ready for release? HMMMMM. Read on. More »
"I was not planning on announcing this, but ..."
Last night my friend Austin and I went to the Staples Center to see Kelly Clarkson live in concert as her Piece By Piece Tour rolled into town. We were present when Kelly announced, mid-song, that she is pregnant with her second child! Kelly began her performance of her new album title track Piece By Piece and she started crying and had to stop the song … she started laughing and apologized to the audience, telling them that she was OK … and then she blurted out the news that she is pregnant for the second time. The audience erupted in cheers, Kelly laughed and cried some more … then she apologized to her husband Brandon Blackstock from the stage because she told us she wasn’t supposed to announce her pregnancy in this way. Everyone was so happy at hearing the news that I don’t think anyone blamed her one bit for the happy slip up. Click below to watch video of Kelly making her impromptu pregnancy announcement last night. More »
CAN THIS ALBUM COME OUT ALREADY?!
Thus far, in the recording process of his version of Taylor Swift‘s 1989 album, Ryan Adams has given us previews of his renditions of Out of the Woods, Bad Blood, Style and Blank Space. Today, because he just LOVES to tease us, Ryan shares a clip of his rendition of Taylor‘s song Shake It Off, just about one year after she released the song herself. Altho we know that Ryan has recorded and produces a rough mix of his version of 1989, we still don’t know when (or if) we will ever get to hear the finished product. This clip of Shake It Off only makes my desire for the album’s release even stronger. Have a listen below. More »
After we learned earlier this month that Ryan Adams is recording his own version of Taylor Swift‘s album 1989, he shared with the world clips of his renditions of her songs Out Of The Woods and Bad Blood. Today we get to hear clips from his covers of the songs Style and Blank Space from his 1989 recording sessions. We also learn today that his recording of 1989 has a “rough mix” now, which means that once mastered … the album SHOULD be ready for release … I hope. At this point, we still don’t know what will come of Ryan‘s recordings of Taylor‘s songs but OMG, he better release them all in full. For now, let’s enjoy the clips below of Ryan Adams‘s version of Taylor Swift‘s songs Style and Blank Space. More »
