"We are fighting a bigger fight"
In early March, we learned that actress Sarah Michelle Gellar joined her husband Freddie Prinze, Jr. in the cast of the forthcoming second season of the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels which, like the forthcoming Star Wars stand-along sequel/prequel film Star Wars: Rogue One, is set in the time period between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Today we get to check out the first trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 2 which, as you can see above, prominently features Darth Vader. It’s unknown how much of Darth Vader we will see throughout the second season of the show but this trailer makes it appear that he will be the big bad of the entire season (much like The Inquisitor was the big bad during Rebels season 1). If Darth Vader (voiced by James Earl Jones) is really a main character this time around, then I predict the second season of Star Wars Rebels is going to RULE ALL! There has been a LOT of great Star Wars news lately, I’m really loving it all so much.
If you saw last night’s incredible, amazing Mad Men episode, you are likely still reeling from that amazingness that is this final season. So many great things happened last night, but there was one particular storyline that felt like a really special treat for those of us who can still quote lines from Season One by heart. If you didn’t catch “The Forecast” last night, THE SPOILER OF YOUR LIFE is inside, but if you did watch it, click inside for more because OMFG GLENNNNNNNN!
Another big reveal from the Sony hack
I heard about this last night and thought it was a really fascinating story. I haven’t watched Henry Louis Gates, Jr.‘s new PBS show Finding Your Roots, but I’m a big fan of his academic work (one of my favorite books of all time is his collection, Reading Black, Reading Feminist). And—fun fact—my parents used to run in the same circle as he does so I met him a few times when I was a kid. He also did great work on the PBS miniseries The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross. So it’s kind of interesting to see his name mixed up in this Ben Affleck scandal of sorts. Apparently, Affleck appeared on the show, but demanded that Gates go against PBS policy and hide the truth about his ancestors—that they were slave owners. Click inside for more.
The Netflix response to Amazon's 'Transparent'?
If you know anything about my feelings on Amazon‘s Transparent (and by now, you should), you’ll know that I won’t stand for just any show being compared to it. Sure, Grace and Frankie takes on the theme of a late-age LGBT coming out narrative—and uses comedy to do so—but other than that, it doesn’t appear to remind me of my favorite show from 2014. There’s something, well, cheap about the laughs that this first Grace and Frankie trailer seems to encourage—as in, it’s funny because they’re older and gay… and that’s basically it. But there are some heavy hitters in the cast—Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterson and Martin Sheen are starring. I’m not sold yet, but I’m interested in seeing where this goes. Hopefully, there’s more to the series than this trailer suggests. Peep the video for more!
P.S. I just saw Nine to Five for the first time ever the other day. Life-changing. Just wanted you all to know.
This show is kind of... awesome
I hadn’t made plans to watch the new FOX post-apocalyptic comedy The Last Man On Earth, and then I started reading all of this buzz about it. One of our editors at Paste Magazine wrote an essay about it when the show first premiered, and finally one day I decided to watch the first few episodes. Totally fell in love, totally can’t stop watching. It’s a nice, light-hearted (but still really funny and fascinating) alternative to my top special shows (The Good Wife, Scandal, Mad Men, etc.). All of that to say, why aren’t you watching this show with me?! Click inside for more (also, if you’re really not watching, SPOILERS AHEAD)!
Season 4, Episode 19
I’m not sure if any other moms out there can relate to this, but I used to be a WAY less emotional human being, pre-babies. I only cried during the REALLY good movies, and almost never during TV shows, and just not a lot of crying in general. I’m going to blame my [increasingly adorable] third child for this new version of me that is embarrassingly emotional and at least 32% crazier than I was before. So yeah. I CRIED. I EFFING CRIED LAST NIGHT, and if you watched Scandal‘s “I’m Just a Bill,” you know why. WHATEVER. Click inside for more.

So much 'OITNB' to come
Netflix announced earlier today that they have renewed their original series Orange is the new Black for a 4th season, just about 2 months before the 3rd season of the show premieres in June. To mark this happy news, the video streaming service also released today a new clip of footage from the forthcoming new season. Click the embed above to watch Crazy Eyes flip out on Poussey over the possible (?) return (?) of Vee, who escaped the prison at the end of last season. It’s a happy day, y’all. We have so much great OITNB goodness headed our way.
Friday April 24
Last week, ABC released the first video promo for Diane Sawyer‘s upcoming 2-hour interview with Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner where he is expected to reveal his gender transition. Today we get to see a new promo for Bruce Jenner – The Interview that features Jenner speaking on this topic for the first time. As you can see above, ABC is playing it real coy with the subject matter of the interview in order to hype up the anticipation but it is an effective way to get viewers interested in hearing more. Check out this promo and save Friday April 24 to watch this interview in full. IMHO, this television event has the potential to be the most important interview in terms of transgender visibility here in the US. I’ll deff be watching.
Prepare for the Xtina takeover
Yesterday we got to hear one of the songs that Christina Aguilera will sing when she makes her guest appearance on the ABC drama Nashville starting this week and today, we get to hear more of Xtina‘s singing on Nashville. Not content to sing only her own songs, Xtina also puts her spin on the theme song for Nashville titled The Real Thing. Click the embed above to hear the Xtina-ized version of the Nashville theme song and get ready for her to completely take over the show when she makes her first appearance this Wednesday night.
Avengers Family Feud
Last night, the principle cast of The Avengers: Age of Ultron made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live (after they attended the massive Hollywood premiere of their film at The Dolby Theater) to do a bit of promo and the 6 of them participated in a friendly game of Avengers Family Feud on the show. It was Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jeremy Renner vs. Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo in a fight to the finish! And seriously, this is pretty much the best thing ever. Click the embed above to watch and love and get your FIRST look at how Captain America: Civil War will actually get its start ;D
