An Amy Winehouse Play Will Premiere In January

Brought To You By The Danish Royal Theatre

For fans of Amy Winehouse this may or may not be good news. A theatre company in Copenhagen is working on a play on the life, times, and music of the late Amy Winehouse. Posthumous works can be tricky, depending on who is (and who is not involved). So far, Amy Winehouse‘s family is not involved in this production and we know they’ve voiced concerns in the past over tributes to Amy, like that Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show back in January. Getting ‘Delusion’al

The TV Guide

Last night I met up with a group of friends to pay a visit to a haunted mansion here in LA for the express purpose of having the BEJESUS scared out of us. We attended a performance of Delusion: The Blood Rite. The experience is a bit theater, a bit haunted house, wholly terrifying and lots of fun. Much like the immersive theater experience of Sleep No More in NYC, Delusion pulls YOU into the storyline … in varying horrifying yet very fun ways. You aren’t allowed to take photos inside the house but I did snap some photos outside before we got the crap scared out of us :) Check out some of the fun below. More »

Theater Review: ‘Streep Tease’

The TV Guide

Last night I met up with Darion, Loy, Sebastian and some of their friends for a night of theater, laughter and merriment in Hollywood and I am pleased to report that we enjoyed a very full night of the aforementioned. Darion suggested that we see a production titled Streep Tease, which is a show that features monologues from Meryl Streep films all performed by men. Obvs, I was very interested in seeing this brilliant show. Afterward, we made our way to St. Felix in Hollywood for some aftershow food and drink. Read on to hear what I think of Streep Tease. Watch: These Chicago Artists Are Using Hip-Hop And Theatre To Change The Game

Hip-Hop For Change!
Chi-Town Stand Up!

Forget about that Luv Dem Strippers video we just saw the other day– some Hip-Hop can actually change the world. Now y’all know I love me some trap music, but I also love, love, love when people actually use their art for something other than a stack of singles at King Of Diamonds! LuvyaWeezy. My roommate from Sarah Lawrence just put me on to GOOD Maker, a site that’s kind of like Kickstarter, but community members vote on different art projects that are designed to meet a specific challenge. Turning Points is an absolutely brilliant challenge that encourages people to come up with art-based projects that will positively affect their community. My vote is going to these guys in the video; The Stone Soup Theatre Project and Animate Objects are collaborating on an ensemble performance about local heroes who transformed their lives and became community leaders. The $5,000 grant would fund the project and allow them to do crazy, sexy, hip-hop, artsy things for da kids. Ummm I went to art school and it changed my life so yeah, please give them this money, lol! Shouts-out to Animate Objects; you can learn more about them here and check out their GOOD Maker campaign here!

Theater Review: ‘Potted Potter’

The TV Guide

Potted Potter is described as the Unauthorized Harry Experience that gives the audience a very fun, very clever, somewhat interactive overview of all 7 Harry Potter books in just 70 minutes. In addition to a fun run thru the books is the inclusion of a full game of Quidditch midway thru the show. This news alone made it essential that I see this off Broadway show. I’m very glad that I managed to sneak in a chance to see the show because it’s a really great experience for any and ALL Harry Potter fans. More »
