Sage Kotsenburg Wins The First US Gold Medal At The Sochi 2014 Olympic Games

The slopestyle snowboarder does America proud

Snowboarder Sage Kotsenberg became the first US athlete to win a Gold Medal at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games by busting out a move he had never done before in the slopestyle snowboarding competition. With Kotzenburg‘s gold, the US is off and running toward a hopeful domination of the Olympic medal count and, more specifically, the Gold Medal count. As you are likely well aware, the Olympic Winter Games got started Thursday ahead of the Opening Ceremonies that took place inside Fisht Olympic Stadium last night. Except for one fairly noticeable techinical glitch, the rest of the ceremonies seemed to go off without a hitch. Click below to learn about Sage winning the first US Gold Medal of these Sochi Games and see a few photos from the Opening Ceremonies spectacle that took place in Sochi last night. More »

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Are Underway And YES, I Am Very Excited To Support Team USA

The TV Guide

As a lifelong fan of the Olympic Games, I have been struggling with my feelings over the 2014 Winter Games which has just opened in Sochi, Russia. I remember being SO excited back in 2010 when the Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia passed the Olympic Flame to Russia for the 2014 Games. Since that time, tho, Russia has instituted the legalized mistreatment of gays and lesbians in their country … which has soured me considerably on being excited for the Olympic Games in Sochi. Even last night, I mentioned my struggles at being excited for the Games in Russia. But, after spending more time thinking about it and after hearing the opinion of others (including PITNB reader Bee), I’ve come to realize that I can still be excited about the Olympic Games and I can still support the athletes who are living their dreams by competing in the Sochi Games without endorsing in anyway Russia’s horrible mistreatment of its own people. After all, my dear friend Nicole has a brother who is competing in the Sochi Games and he *just* marched into the Olympic Stadium with the Team USA delegation. That is something I can be more than excited about … and excited I will be. More »

Google Lends Its Support To Gay Rights As The Winter Olympics Get Underway In Anti-Gay Russia

"The practice of sport is a human right"

The 2014 Winter Olympic Games got started in Sochi, Russia today (even tho the Opening Ceremonies won’t take place until Friday) and as you may be well aware, many protests are taking place all around the world, in various ways, to stand against the horrible state-sanctioned anti-gay laws in Russia. Many people are disgusted by the fact that Russia is hosting the Olympic Games, which celebrates fair play among all peoples, and have no problem enforcing laws that treat gays and lesbians as criminals. Google unveiled their latest Google Doodle today to mark the start of the Olympic Games. As you can see below, this new Doodle is meant to offer support to the gays in Russia, as well as the gays traveling to Russia to compete in the games. More »

David Beckham Is A New Owner Of A Miami Soccer Team

Becks is Back

It has been almost a year since David Beckham formally retired from playing professional soccer but today we learn that he is set to make a return to the world of professional soccer tomorrow … as an owner of a new soccer team in Miami, FL. Altho the new as-yet unnamed team doesn’t yet have a stadium to play in and likely won’t actually join Major League Soccer until 2016, the announcement tomorrow that Becks is an owner of the franchise should help pave the way for all of the pieces to fall into place so that this new team can become the 22nd team in the MLS league. Even tho David Beckham retired from professional play last year, I knew it wouldn’t be long until he make a return in some way to the sport that he loves so much. More »

Meryl Streep & 50 Cent Are The Cutest BFFs

Kobe Bryant wants in on the fun

While you and your friends were spending your weekend hanging out together, in the city or at home … maybe at a movie or concert event, 50 Cent spent part of his weekend chillin’ with a dear friend of his own. You see, Fitty decided to take in a New York Mets basketball game this weekend and ended up becoming super BFFs with Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep. I’m assuming the two were brought together by the happenstance that they were seated next to one another court-side at the Mets game … but all it took was close proximity for these two unlikely friends to become the best of buds :) Click below to see their adorable friendship as it bloomed on Fitty‘s official Instagram profile. Michelle Rodriguez & Cara Delevingne Have A Wasted Good Time At A Basketball Game

They enjoyed everything BUT the game itself

BFFs Michelle Rodriguez and Cara Delevingne decided to take in a New York Knicks basketball game together this week but not before they got loaded up on alcohol and very likely some sort of mind-altering thing that could be smoked in a vaporizer. The result was a whole lotta messy behavior, naturally caught on film. Click thru the gallery presented here to see what Michelle and Cara got up to together. It looks like they both had a lot of fun, not that they’d necessarily remember any of it the morning after.

Jet Lag Is A Drag

The TV Guide

Ugh. I have got jet lag bad, y’all. I fell asleep midday yesterday a couple of times but only for about 30 minutes each time so that the sleep wasn’t restful and left me wide away afterward. From around 10PM last night until well past 5AM this morning, I just could not sleep. I did manage to watch my beloved University of Oklahoma Sooners take on and defeat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl championship game last night. I also watched some recorded TV shows on my DVR, a movie on Netflix and played hours of my fave new mobile phone video game. Blah. I’m a little loopy right now but I’m hopeful today will be the day my sleep schedule will normalize. More »
