He's Also Been Banned For Life
Back in August we got word that the USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) was preparing to strip Lance Armstrong of his Tour de France titles and impose a lifetime ban on him, following an investigation into the famed cyclist’s use of performance-enhancing drugs. Lance had discontinued his fight against the USADA but also maintained his innocence and claimed that they could not strip him of his wins. However, as of today, the International Cycling Union has confirmed that Lance is, indeed, being stripped of his titles. Click inside to learn more.

The TV Guide
Last night the Detroit Tigers defeated the NY Yankees by a score of 8-1 in a clean sweep of the 2012 American League Championship Series, clearing the way for the team to go straight to the World Series Championship. My BFF Sarah (who is the BIGGEST Tigers fan alive) and I were able to watch the Tigers cream the Yankees in person last night. Because of the rain delay, the game that was supposed to be played on Wednesday night was pushed back to last night … giving me an opportunity to see the game in person. I’m not a big sports fan but last night’s win felt pretty fantastic to me. More »

Worth a Thousand Words
Yesterday we heard an exciting report that claimed that Beyoncé has been selected to perform the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII next February. Altho not an official announcement, it seemed like pretty much everyone believed the verity of the report. The official confirmation from the folks who handle the Super Bowl is supposedly due out today but Bey took it upon herself to confirm that she will be performing at the Super Bowl by posting a photo on her official website. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and with a single photo, Beyoncé lets us all know that she will play the Super Bowl gig … check it out below. More »
Rumor Has It ...
Last year around this time we first heard that Madonna would be performing the half time show at Super Bowl XLVI … today we are hearing that Beyoncé will be the performer during the half time show of next year’s Super Bowl XLVII. Now, at this point the news of Bey‘s Super Bowl performance is only a rumor (one that is spreading like wildfire today) but it seems likely that she might be the perfect performer to take the stage next year. This Girl Is On Fire!
It’s a really good time to be Gabby Douglas. The 16 year-old Olympic gold medalist is everywhere now and she absolutely deserves it. Gabby wowed everyone (including Beyoncé) when she won the gold medal for the all-around event at this year’s London Olympic Games and now she’s getting a chance to try out her acting chops on her favorite television show, The Vampire Diaries. It sounds like another dream come true for this hard-working girl, which is awesome! Click inside fore more.
A Mash-Up Of Stars
Earlier today we saw pics of Rihanna and Jay-Z leaving The Art Club in London, following performances at the London Paralympics. Now we get a look at the two stars closing out the games with Coldplay. The performance is cool and fun (although, not especially riveting), but I’ve really been enjoying reading about the games. HuffPost published an article wrapping up the whole event beautifully, and you can also watch the entire closing ceremony (which some are saying was better than the closing ceremony of the Olympics), here on the London Paralympics YouTube page. The actual events are also on YouTube, and they’re amazing. Click the above video to see Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Coldplay Run This Town tonight.

E! Network, Holla Back!
A while back we heard that Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte was interested in being on a reality show, and it looks like those wheels are already in motion. Lochte recently revealed to Celebuzz that he’s currently in talks with E! Network (reality show home to Kevin Jonas, Mrs. Eastwood, and The Kardashians), but has been getting proposals from a few places. Don’t front like you’re not kinda, sorta interested in where all this is going, lol! Deets inside!

This Is How We Do ...?
Kid Rock has teamed up with the NFL and Pepsi to create an anthem for the Detroit Lions and right here, right now we get to hear the song IN FULL. Now, before y’all get too excited … I have to confess … as much as I LOVE Detroit and I LOVE Kid Rock for his constant support of the city we both love … I really don’t love this new song (and I’m not alone). In Detroit attempts to tell the world “how things are done” in Detroit … and for the most part, the song is a great attempt but … well, why don’t you take a listen and see what you think. More »

Lance Maintains His Innocence
This is kind of a big deal. Wait, no. It is a big deal. Seven-time Tour de France winning cyclist Lance Armstrong has officially stopped fighting the condemning charges that he used performance-enhancing drugs from 1999-2005. The USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) says this is as good as any admission of guilt and they plan to ban Armstrong for life and strip him of his unprecedented seven titles. However, Armstrong maintains that he is innocent, but has had enough of the fighting. He also believes that the USADA cannot actually take his titles away from him. Either way, it’s a pretty sad day for sports-lovers. Get the deets inside.

A few weeks ago I saw this trailer for Hermano and it somehow slipped away from me. Today I re-discovered it and got excited all over again. Hermano (or Brother) comes from Venezuelan director Marcel Rasquin and it’s a foreign language sports drama that received major hype and critical acclaim when it was first released back in 2010. It’s finally coming to US theatres this Friday and I cannot wait to see it! It’s got the good brother/bad brother plot that we saw in films like City Of God and Slumdog Millionaire (and that crazy good 2009 drama Brothers, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman). The two young men in this movie have been raised as brothers and ‘struggle to become professional soccer players amidst slum life and tragedy.’
Any film that reminds me of City Of God in the slightest, is a must-see, so I’m definitely looking forward to August 24. Anybody else into it?
