Watch: Sebastien De La Cruz Performs The National Anthem, Does America Proud

Earlier this week, a young San Antonio, TX native named Sebastien De La Cruz performed The Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem, ahead of a NBA Finals basketball game. After De La Cruz‘s performance aired live on TV, a flood of horribly racist and ignorant comments started making the rounds online due to his Mexican-American heritage. In light of the disgusting backlash voiced by some of the more ignorant people in this country, the decision was made to let Sebastien perform the national anthem AGAIN in front of another NBA Finals basketball game last night. President Obama even tweeted his support for the little dude’s performance. Movie Review: ‘The Purge’

Yesterday was a very relaxing day here at home in Detroit Rock City. I spent much of the day chilling with my friends Sarah and Mark in their home (one of my favorite places on Earth) and then spent my evening beaming with pride of my BFF Sarah’s kickboxing skills. We finished out the night at the movies and, for the most part, had a really fun time out. I’ll get to the amazing kickboxing stuff in a bit but let’s talk a bit about my movie selection of the night — The Purge. Reactions to the film are a bit of a mixed bag among my friends but I can say that I liked the movie, for the most part. More »

After flying all day yesterday, I arrived here in Detroit safe and sound late yesterday afternoon. From the airport, Sarah and I met up with Mark and the 3 of us made our way to Comerica Park to meet up with a bunch of other friends to watch the Detroit Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians. As I mentioned earlier in the week, I decided to take this impromptu last minute trip home so that I could spend some quality time with my BFF. I managed to rack up enough frequent flyer miles to fly home for free so … I just had to take the opportunity. I’m glad that I did because I have been having the best time since I landed yesterday. Justin Bieber Rocks A Big Hat, A Leather Shirt & Sunglasses To The Miami Heat Basketball Game

Oh, Biebs … sometimes you just make it so easy. Justin Bieber, self-proclaimed crowned prince of pop, was in attendance at the Miami Heat basketball game in Miami, FL last night and homie brought along SO MUCH SWAG that he was pretty much the main attraction in the building … despite the fact that a professional basketball game was taking place at the very same time. Clad in an oversized Heat snapback cap, a leather shirt & pants outfit, a neck wrapped in gold chains AND sunglasses that never left his face, The Biebs was sittin’ pretty courtside as he was surrounded by his entourage. Folks who were blessed to be in his close proximity included his BFF Lil’ Twist, a Selena Gomez-lookin’ young lady and a tank-sized bodyguard. The End Of A Great Season

Alas … the season ended for my beloved Detroit Red Wings last night when they fell in overtime to the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2013 Stanley Cup playoff finals. I have to admit that I am very bummed that the Wings lost their series against Chicago because had they won, they’d next face the LA Kings for the Western Conference Championship and I would get more opportunities to see them play hockey here in LA. But … it wasn’t meant to be. Even tho my night turned out to be a bummer, I’m happy to share that my day prior turned out to be much better than I expected. My very good friend Josh Z cajoled me out of the house mid-day for lunch (which I never do due to work constraints) and we had a very nice time together. More »

OH MY GOD CUTE!

David Beckham and his entire family are back in LA right now on summer vacation and he took the entire fam to the Staples Center on Monday night to cheer on the LA Kings hockey team. During the game, Becks and his adorable daughter Harper Seven were featured on the Kiss Cam and he smooched all up on his precious little girl. Altho Kiss Cam footage is immdiately availble inside the arena, it takes a few days for the footage to be released online. The Kings have made the Kiss Cam footage from Monday night’s game available and you can see the whole video clip above. Becks and Harper show up at the 1:10 mark of the clip … and they are cute as all heck. Check out the embed and enjoy.

Robbie Rogers Becomes The First Out Gay Male Athlete In North American Team Sports

Back in April NBA player Jason Collins became the first openly gay male athlete in any major American professional sports team … technically. At the time of his coming out, Collins was in between basketball seasons so he has yet to actually play on a team as the first out gay male athlete. Last night, Robbie Rogers became the actual first openly gay male athlete in American professional sports team history as a member of the LA Galaxy. Rogers came out as gay earlier this year when he “retired” from professional soccer. Apparently, the retirement didn’t stick and the out Rogers was signed by the Galaxy … and he made history last night on the professional soccer field. More »

Yesterday was a pretty bizzy day for me … I spent part of my evening watching the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Chicago Blackhawks, then I “ran into” the very same metal sign that Kanye West bashed his head on earlier this month, then I got my haircut, then I made my way out to Glendale, CA to see Hanzel und Gretyl live in concert. David Beckham Breaks Down In Tears At The End Of His Last Professional Soccer Game Ever

Earlier this week David Beckham formally announced that he was planning to retire from professional soccer at the end of the current season with his new team Paris Saint-Germain FC and yesterday, that season came to an end. Becks played professional soccer for the last time ever yesterday and then broken down in emotional tears when it was all said and done. With is family cheering for him in the stands and his teammates ready to pounce on him in celebration, Becks let the tears flow as he said goodbye to his 22 year career in soccer.
