If you’re like me, you don’t watch the Super Bowl for the game. You’re more focused on the halftime show and, of course, the ads! In recent years I always think I’ve seen all the good ads because companies have started releasing everything prior to the big game. But I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and amused by everything I hadn’t already seen. Except for Mountain Dew’s PuppyMonkeyBaby. That will haunt me for the rest of my days. And apparently that song will never leave my head. So turn your sound up, grab something to snack on, and let’s watch (or re-watch) some of the craziest commercials Super Bowl 50 had to offer. More »

The commercials might be the only reason why I care to watch the Super Bowl (sorry football fans). That and the halftime show. Well, this year, Drake did a SUPER silly commercial for T-Mobile, a sort of meta, behind-the-scenes thing, if you will. Basically a bunch of execs ask him to change the lyrics to “Hotline Bling,” to include, you know, all the phrases a normal cell phone commercial would include. Like, “…Just add ‘device eligible for upgrade after 24 months.’” Oh lawd. Drake looks super cheesy rocking out to his own song in the video and wears a big shit eating grin. Probably because he made tonnnnnns of money making the commercial. What do you think? Is it funny or just terrible?
It was a Monday night. The Alabama Crimson Tide were playing the Clemson Tigers in the College Football championships. Ciara was singing the National Anthem. The lady is talented, and by talented I mean she is an amazing dancer. And hey, I’m not saying she can’t sing either, but the National Anthem just isn’t the song for her.
Ciara’s voice aside, the real issue is that her cleavage bearing dress, which I actually found rather modest, has been under fire since the game. Sports fans have been tweeting things like “She should cover up for the children!” Proving that we do, in fact, still live in age that hasn’t shed its puritan skin. More »
"I am going to step away from the game at this time"
Michael Sam made sports history back in February of 2014 when he came out publicly as a gay man right before he was to be drafted to play professional football in the NFL here in the US … and a lot has happened since that time. In June of 2014, he signed a 4-year contract to play football for the St. Louis Rams … 2 months later, he was released from his contract and was cut from the team. In September of 2014, he was signed to play football for the Dallas Cowboys … 1 month later, he was cut from that team as well. In spite of all of this, Sam got engaged to his longtime boyfriend Vito Cammisano in January of this year and joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in March (he lost). In May it was announced that Michael Sam signed to play professional football in Canada and then in June, he ended his engagement/relationship with Vito. Today we learn from Sam himself that he has decided to quit playing football altogether due to mental health concerns. Without question, he has been through a lot in the past year and it looks like it has all caught up with him. More »

Earlier today we saw video of Caitlyn Jenner‘s inspirational and moving acceptance speech the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY Awards last night but did you know that our dear Britney Spears was in attendance at the awards show as well? She presented the Best Female Athlete award with footballer JJ Watt to SPOILER ALERT Ronda Rousey … and just in case you missed it, you can watch video of the whole thing above. The Baby One More Time-inspired bit that Britney and JJ did was meant to be cute and I guess it was … kinda. Britney looked awkward (but fabulous) and JJ looked meaty and, um, I guess that’s about it. Check out the video above and then click below to see a cute photo that Britney snapped with JJ backstage at the ESPYs last night. More »
"This transition has been harder on me than anything I can imagine."
Early last month, we first learned that Caitlyn Jenner was named the honoree for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY Awards. Last night, Caitlyn stepped onto the stage and in front of the world’s cameras to formally accept this award with a powerful speech that acted as Jenner‘s first public statement since she made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine on June 1. In addition to thanking the ESPY Awards for this honor, Caitlyn used her 10+ minute speech to discuss trans issues and share with the world her intent moving forward “to tell my story the right way, for me; to keep learning; to do whatever I can to reshape the landscape of how trans issues are viewed, how trans people are treated; and then more broadly, to promote a very simple idea — accepting people for who they are.” Click the embed above to watch video of Caitlyn Jenner‘s speech and/or click below for more insight/details about her appearance at the ESPYs last night. Even J. K. Rowling had to bow down!!!
For whatever reason I woke up this morning craving some throwback tracks from The Game. I started with Dreams, which is a song dedicated to the slain sister of Venus and Serena Williams. Yetunde Price was killed in a Compton shootout in 2003, and I only mention it here to stress the fact that the Williams sisters do not come from a life of privilege and have, therefore, overcome odds that most people simply cannot. To hail from Compton and become a famous rapper is one thing—but to hail from Compton and to become the greatest tennis player and one of the greatest athletes of all time? Bow down, bitches. Bow down. (And please watch the documentary Venus & Serena.) This past weekend Serena Jameka Williams won her sixth Wimbledon title and 21st major championship, and then took it upon herself to show up at the Wimbledon Champions’ Dinner in this gorgeous gown, looking like a god among men. Even J.K. Rowling had to get on Twitter and shut the haters down, because she knows this is Serena Williams‘ world, and we’re all lucky to be living in it.

"gotta work on them layups"
Back in April, our dear Britney Spears very proudly shared some footage of her son Sean Preston shredding like a boss on his skateboard (HERE and HERE). Today, we see that Sean P‘s father Kevin Federline is getting in on the proud parent footage sharing. K-Fed shared video this week of Sean Preston playing basketball and as you can see below, the kid is a wiz at playing defense … it’s just that he needs to work a bit on actually getting the basketball in the hoop. Additionally, Britney shared a couple new photos of her little skater boy and, well, it’s very clear that Spederline are both very proud of their son’s athletic prowess. More »
Before he was a stripper/model/dancer/actor
Earlier today we saw a bunch of promo photos for the upcoming male stripper sequel film Magic Mike XXL (due in theaters next week) and right now, we get to see another photo of MMXL star Channing Tatum wearing very little clothing … but this photo goes back aways. Tatum used to compete as a bodybuilder back in high school well before he became an exotic male dancer, then model, then professional dancer, then acting movie star. A photo of Channing during one of his competitions has come to light and as you can see below, he appears to have always been very comfortable wearing very little clothing (tho, as a professional model, he oftentimes wore absolutely no clothing at all). Check out Channing the young bodybuilder below. More »

Surf's up, Pants down
Actor Liam Hemsworth did a bit of surfing here in SoCal last weekend (before he appeared on stage with his Independence Day 2 co-stars to reveal the title of the movie yesterday) and as you can see below, it was a sight to behold. Paparazzi managed to get video of Liam surfing the tasty waves in Malibu, CA — which is fun to watch — but they also managed to get photos of Liam accidentally flashing his bum after he stripped off his wet suit while dressing near his car after his surfing excursion. Click below to see what Liam got up to at the beach last weekend and see how much fun surfing can be … for spectators ;) More »
