"How is he fitting in with his Rams teammates?"
Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the NFL, is currently hard at work training with his team the St. Louis Rams as they prepare for the forthcoming new football season and was the subject of a “news report” on ESPN‘s SportsCenter yesterday. For some reason, the folks at ESPN thought it would make a good “news report” to focus on Michael Sam‘s locker room showering habits. You see, as an openly gay man, it is important — ESPN believed — to let the world know if/how/when/etc. Michael Sam (a gay man) showers or doesn’t shower with his fellow teammates (presumably straight men). Click the embed above to watch the “news report” in full.
After the segment aired, ESPN was inundated with complaints over the “news report” to the point where ESPN decided to apologize today for airing the segment. You can read their apology below. More »
Sorry, Weird Al fans
Last week we learned that a petition had been created to try and get the National Football League to get Weird Al Yankovic, buoyed by his newfound success on the music charts, to perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl next year. Today we are hearing that it’s not Weird Al but American Idol winner Carrie Underwood has reportedly been selected to play the Super Bowl halftime show. As fun as it would be to get Weird Al to play the Super Bowl, I just don’t think he would ever be a serious contender for the gig. Country music star Carrie Underwood does sound like the way the NFL will go. More »
"Just do it, baby"
Our dear Britney Spears took some time away from her busy schedule of posing for HAWT photos as she prepares for her return to Las Vegas so that she could support her sons at the local skatepark. Britney shared a really cute video of one of her sons, I’m assuming Sean Preston, skateboarding at the skatepark that you have to see below. In the video, you can hear Britney cheering for her little boy as he skates on his own two feet like a boss. Watch and love below. More »
PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum
“Shannon, one of these guys is gonna f— you up.” Okay, we’ll get to that quote (from one of my friends, circa 2003) shortly. I don’t know how much you all have heard about this story, or whether or not any of you watch First Take (I do, and I love it) but Stephen A. Smith of ESPN got himself in some serious trouble over comments about women and men in domestic violence cases. The specific subject of his discussion with Skip Bayless was Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice (who knocked his wife out and dragged her unconscious body out of an Atlantic City casino elevator… and was suspended from a whole two NFL games as a result), but I want to open things up a bit and talk about some of the greater questions about domestic violence that this raised.

Last night Sarah, Mark, Adriana and I got all dolled up in our Detroit Tigers gear and made our way down to Anaheim, CA to root for the Tigers against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Before we got down to the business of baseball, we grabbed a fun dinner in Downtown Disney beforehand. We just couldn’t fit in a visit to Disneyland during Sarah and Mark’s visit (which is why I missed running into Britney Spears at Disneyland yesterday) so I figured dinner in Downtown Disney was a nice consolation prize. We had a blast at the game, even if we didn’t win (boo). Click below to see some of our fun photos. More »

That Ish Cray Of-The-Day
Hilarious news to wake up to this morning. Apparently. Some people reeeealllly aren’t feeling today’s biggest pop stars, and they’ve decided to make that crystal clear to the rest of the world. The minor league baseball team Charleston Riverdogs hosted a very special event the other day, in which they lit’rally burned Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber music to the ground. I don’t know about you, but I find this to be incredibly funny. Click inside for more!
These photos are everything.
Yesterday we celebrated the World Cup Final with a gallery of hottie McFutbol hotties put together by PITNBr Iris and myself. I thought I was having all of the fun “editing” that piece, but Rihanna was actually having more fun than anybody else in life. Ever. Please enjoy her gallery of amazing photos from the World Cup (she hung out with members of the German team and Adriana Lima). And yes, of course, she got excited and flashed the crowd at a certain point. RiRi would also like us to know that she got up close and personal with a very important member of Germany’s team: I touched the cup, held the cup, kissed the cup, took a selfie wit the cup!!! I meeeaan…… what is YO bucket list looking like bruh?
PITNBr Iris Totally Did This
Listen, this gallery does not discriminate against winners or losers in the 2014 World Cup. Mainly because I’m not entirely sure of who the winners or losers are… although I do know that something truly horrifying happened to Brazil. At any rate, today is the last day, and it’s going down betwixt Germany and Argentina. Again, this information is irrelevant as this gallery is entirely focused on PITNBr Iris‘ preference in soccer players (mostly Brazilian, apparently). Oh, and I had to include some shots of Cristiano Ronaldo because he has an incredible underwear line… and the bulge to go with.
#PraiseYeezus and peep the gallery for more!
The name Redskins is “disparaging to Native Americans”
A few weeks ago Shannon posted excerpts from a powerful essay about the racist offensiveness of the The Washington Redskins‘ football team name and today we learn that the US Patents and Trademark Office agrees … because they have just stripped the team of the trademark to the name “Washington Redskins” because, they have determined, the name is “disparaging to Native Americans”. Um, duh. It has always been so, IMHO, but — at last — a major ruling on the name has been handed down. Now that the Redskins have lost their trademark, it is all but certain that the football team will have to come up with another, less racistly offensive name. More »
The entire 2014 Rams Rookie Class got signed!
Last month we learned that football player Michael Sam became the first openly gay player in the NFL when he was drafted to play for the St. Louis Rams. Since that time, Sam has been training with the Rams in the hopes of signing on officially to play for the Rams when the new football season begins later this year. Today we learn, happily, that Michael and the rest of the rookie class that was drafted by the Rams last month have all signed contracts to play for the team. It’s officially official … Michael Sam is an NFLer now! More »
