"Cover your ears because you're about to hear a woman just scream"
Back in May, Prince and his new band 3rd Eye Girl released a song titled Baltimore that was written and released in support of racial tension that erupted on their streets due to police brutality and abuse of power. Today we get to hear a new song from Prince and 3rd Eye Girl that has been released for an entirely different reason … a very sexy reason. The new song featured below is titled HardRockLover and it sounds very much like the sexier Prince that used to reign supreme in the ’80s and early ’90s. It’s unknown if this song, as well as the other new music (HERE and HERE) that Prince has been performing on tour lately, will be released on a new album but any new music is good news to me. And it's the best new song yet!
Thus far this year, Veruca Salt has released 2 new songs (HERE and HERE) from their new album Ghost Notes (due out next month) and today we get to hear the latest offering from the band’s new album. In the past year, the band has released 4 songs (the two from Ghost Notes and the Record Store Day single 2014 tracks Museum of Broken Relationships and It’s Holy) but after listening to the new song below, I must admit that Empty Bottle is their best new song yet. When I say that I have been aching for YEARS for the return of Veruca Salt, it is because when they work together on music they give us amazing songs like Empty Bottle. Slow and sweeping, then loud and powerful — Empty Bottle has it all. Have a listen below and fall in love. More »
I am one of maybe four people you know who hasn’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron yet. I know that means that I basically don’t exist or something, but yeah. That’s what’s going on with me. At any rate, I figure those of you who have seen it will be excited to learn that the Blu-Ray release is going to feature an alternate ending. Joss Whedon was a guest on the Empire Film podcast and he shared the big news. Obviously, there are SPOILERS AHEAD so back out now while you have the chance. Otherwise, click inside for more!
"We wanted to do a cover that was a bit under the radar"
Back in 2011, Ryan Gosling starred in a film titled Drive that, to this day, remains one of my fave movies of all time (in fact, I just rewatched Drive over the weekend, randomly) and gave us one of the more memorable soundtracks in recent years. The LA band Small Pools, who just released their debut album Lovetap! last month, decided to record and release a cover of the song A Real Hero by College & Electric Youth as featured on the Drive soundrack … which you can listen to in full below. A Real Hero is such a great song, it plays in heavy rotation in my running mix. Click below to hear Small Pools put their spin on this really great track. More »
"I am a pop artist ... the world is my canvas."
Earlier today, we saw video of Kanye West doing a quick performance of his song All Day during a time-out at a Chicago Bulls basketball game over the weekend. Not only was Kanye in town to see a basketball game but he was also on hand to receive an honorary doctorate from the School of Art Institute of Chicago today. That’s right, folks … Kanye West is now officially Dr. West. Kanye‘s wife shared a photo of Dr. West wearing his cap and gown during this weekend’s graduation ceremony at SAIC and the school has shared audio of Kanye, sorry, Dr. West delivering his remarks during commencement. "I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up, a little bit of Elektra maybe"
Now that we know that Netflix has picked up Marvel’s Daredevil for a second season, we learn from star Charlie Cox which Daredevil characters he would like see join the cast next season. Charlie mentions classic DD characters like Punisher, Black Widow and Bullseye … and, of course, Elektra. Charlie also dishes on when filming production for season 2 of DD will start, giving us a better sense of when we might expect Netflix to release the second season in 2016. Charlie makes clear that his comments are his personal thoughts and wishes because, at this stage of production, he has yet to be made privy to actual plans for the show. More »

"I never said I was Joan Rivers ... I’m just trying to be me"
Kathy Griffin only quit as co-host of Fashion Police on E! just a few days ago but today she went on the interview circuit to talk about her reasons for quitting. As you may recall, Kathy posted a lengthy message on her Twitter profile announcing some of the reasons for quitting Fashion Police (saying she didn’t want “her comedy to be used to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference“) but today paid a visit to The Howard Stern Show and The View to discuss the matter further. In her chat with Stern, Kathy confesses that she probably shouldn’t have taken the FP gig in the first place. In her chat with ladies on The View, Kathy flat out calls Fashion Police an “anti-feminist … dog pile”. Click below to hear and read Kathy‘s scathing comments about Fashion Police. More »
This is truly one of Madonna's greatest interviews of all time
Madonna paid a visit to The Howard Stern Show today today chat about things in support of the release of her new album Rebel Heart, which was officially released yesterday. Over the course of her 1 1/2 hour chat with Stern, Madonna candidly and very honestly talks about a wide range of things. Among other topics discussed, Madonna confirmed that she dated Tupac Shakur in the early ’90s, she revealed she went on a double date with then husband Sean Penn and then married Mike Tyson & Robin Givens, she talked a bit about her “casual friendship” with Michael Jackson and much, much more. In case you missed hearing it live earlier today or just want to hear it all over again, you can listen to Madonna‘s full interview with Howard Stern below. More »
