"I don't need another gift, I just have one wish this year ..."
Last month we got to hear Ariana Grande‘s cover of the Wham! Xmas classic Last Christmas and today we get to hear another track off her upcoming Xmas album/EP. This time around, Ariana is singing about what she wants for Xmas this year … and instead of gifts or chocolates, she just wants to have Snow In California. Now, as a person who grew up with snowy winters for most of my life, I can assure you … it’s best to be careful what you wish for. But, this is what Ariana wants so … let it snow, I suppose. Back in September we got our first listen of Christina Aguilera‘s new song We Remain as featured on the upcoming soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (a song that, IMHO, works very well for the film). Today we get to hear a portion of Lorde‘s contribution to the Catching Fire soundtrack. A 90-second clip of Lorde‘s cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears has been released and as you can hear below, her take on the song is quite a departure from the original version of the song (which was a HUGE hit in the 80′s). Have A Listen!
A couple of years ago, our dear Britney Spears did Rihanna a solid by appearing on a remix of her song S&M. It looks like Ri Ri is returning the favor because a snippet of a NEW remix of Work Bitch has hit the Internets that is attributed to Rihanna on vocals. Supposedly titled Work Bitch (Twerk Remix), this short snippet from the song reminds us how hot it can been when Britney and Rihanna work on a collab together. And it's pretty good, actually
Last week Lady Gaga teased a small portion of her new song with R. Kelly titled Do What U Want which is featured in a new commercial for Beats headphones and today the song has been released in full. Since I’m not a huge Gaga fan, I must admit that I was suspicious of early song reviews that label the song a hit (the fact that the track features a guest vocal performance by R. Kelly did little to make me a believer). Having listened to the song (a few times now, actually), I must concur … the song is really good. The track has an R&B flavor but in that really good funky, 80′s way. Click below and have a listen, see what you think of this Gaga and R. Kelly collab. More »
Two Amazing Interviews
Tori Amos‘s much-anticipated musical production The Light Princess is well underway at The National Theater in London, England and to promote the show, she and playwright Samuel Adamson made themselves available for a couple of extremely interesting interviews both in person and on the radio. First, as you can see in the video embedded above, Tori and Samuel participated in an in-person interview on the National Theater stage before a performance of The Light Princess took place this week. You can watch part 2 of the interview below. You can also listen to Tori and Samuel‘s entire interview on the radio program Front Row on BBC Radio 4 (which aired earlier this week as well). Both of these interviews provide lots of insight into the creation of The Light Princess and, for me, they make me DESPERATE to see the show for myself. Please enjoy. More »
Azealia Banks, like pretty much everyone else on Earth with ears, is a BIG fan of Britney Spears‘s new single Work Bitch and as such was inspired to work up her own remix of the track for our listening pleasure. To be honest, this new track is less like a remix and more like a total reworking of the song … but she titled it the Work Bitch (Azealia Banks Remix) all the same. Banks spits her own rhymes over the instrumental music of the song, essentially taking control of the track. Click below to have a listen and see what you think. More »
"Despite of all the imperfections of who I am I still wanna be your man"
Last week we learned from Justin Bieber himself that he would be releasing a new song every Sunday night for the next 10 weeks leading up to the release of his new album in December and last night the world was blessed with the arrival of the first of the coming 10 weeks of music. Heartbreaker, the song that was teased in the commercial for JB‘s newest fragrance The Key (which was released over the Summer), was released for sale at midnight last night … and you can click below to give it a listen on this fine #MusicMondays morning. 'Make It Pop Like Pink Champagne'
Ariana Grande has a helluva lot to celebrate. Her duet with Jimmy Fallon is still one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. And after suffering from severe damage to her vocal chords, she soon started making a full recovery. Her debut album Yours Truly went No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last month, selling 138,000 copies in its first week, and she just hit 10 million followers on Twitter. To celebrate, she’s giving us a new song, which I greatly appreciate. Click inside for your first listen of Pink Champagne!
From the soundtrack to 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'
Last week we learned that Christina Aguilera recorded a song titled We Remain for the forthcoming soundtrack to the sequel film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. As you may recall, we got to sample a very short snippet of the song but today, we get to hear the song IN FULL. The first single from the Catching Fire soundtrack is Atlas, recorded by Coldplay but now that we know that Xtina‘s single has its own cover art, it’s likely it will be released officially as the second single. Chvrches are Down for Whitnay
The BRILLIANT band Chvrches paid a visit to Zane Lowe‘s radio program on BBC Radio 1 (the very same radio show where Kanye West talked for an hour about any and everything … which resulted in a spoof by Jimmy Kimmel which then resulted in a ridiculous Twitter rant by West) to promote the release this week of their debut album The Bones of What You Believe. In addition to performing live versions of their new songs, Chvrches also performed a cover of Whitney Houston‘s classic breakup song It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay. And what, pray tell, does this Whitney cover sound like? Click below and have a listen. More »
