'Sharing the World'
Way back in July of 2011, I was lucky enough to see the world’s first hologram pop star, Hatsune Miku, live in concert in her first performance in the US. Last night, Hatsune Miku made her US television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman. Miku is a completely digital performer and as you can see above, she does pretty well on TV. But, having seen her live in concert with my own eyes, I can assure you that video does NOT do her justice. She is an actual hologram and she is cool as Hell. Click above to watch video of Hatsune Miku performing her song Sharing the World on Letterman last night and behold the pop star of the future.

The new season of American Horror Story: Freak Show premiered on FX last night and it did NOT disappoint, not one bit. The premiere episode did a really good job of introducing most of the main characters and it provided us with a fun musical performance by Jessica Lange. Lange plays the freak show boss lady Elsa Mars and on last night’s ep, she performed a cover of the David Bowie song Life On Mars?. In case you missed it or just NEED to see it again, you can watch Elsa‘s performance in full above. I really enjoyed last night’s episode and am very anxious to watch the rest of the season unfold. On October 17, the film Dear White People will open in select cities and as you can see in this red band trailer (the NSFWness comes in the form of language, btw) the movie will very likely get people talking … which is the intent. What happens when a group of Caucasian students host a party that is African American-themed? Well, this movie will show you. I’ve been hearing about this movie but this trailer is the first I’ve seen of it. I can’t tell if I’m genuinely interested in the story or if I’m just curious to see how these racial stereotypes will be handled in this feature film. Have a look above and see what you think about Dear White People. Does this look like a movie that you would like to see in theaters?

This is TOO much awesome
The brilliant folks at CineFix have put together a short video that shows what Disney‘s animated feature film Frozen would look like as an 8-bit video game and as you can see above, the video is nothing short of perfection. Even if you’re sick and tired of Frozen by this point, you have to watch this video to see how cleverly it’s been adapted into a fictional video game — that I really wish existed! If for nothing else, you have to hear the music from Frozen in glorious 8-bit form and just really respect all the inventive hard work that went into the creation of this video. Ugh, it’s soooo good.

J. Law Makes a Splash for 'VF'
Yesterday we read excerpts from Jennifer Lawrence‘s new interview with Vanity Fair magazine and, as you may recall, she had many powerful things to say about the leak of her personal nude photos. Today, on a lighter note, we get to see really neat behind the scenes video from Jen‘s VF photoshoot, which was shot by famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier. This new issue of Vanity Fair will be a must see/read for many reasons, including the full set of J. Law‘s photospread. Check out the video above to preview what’s in store when this issue of VF hits newsstands this week.
Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader returns to SNL this week as host of the show and today we get to see his just-released promo videos. Honestly, it sometimes feels like SNL is cheating when they bring back former castmembers to host the show but then I think about all the great old skits they can do again and I’m happy to forgive the “cheating”. It’s funny how I never seem to appreciate certain castmembers when they’re on the show and then I realize what I’ve been missing since they’ve been gone. This weekend’s ep with Bill as host will be fun, I can’t wait.
No vocal problems here
A few days ago, we watched painful video of pop star Mariah Carey struggling a few times to stay on key and hit her trademark high notes on the opening night of her new concert tour The Elusive Chanteuse Show. Today we get to see newer video of Mimi sounding back to her usual, flawless self in new live performance video shot by fans. The embed above features Mariah‘s performance of Fantasy in Yokohama, Japan and as you can hear, she sounded great! Yes, Mimi had vocal problems on the opening night of her tour in Tokyo but clearly, she suffered no such problems at her show in Yokohama. Click below to hear Mimi successfully hit her trademark HIGH notes during her performance of Emotions during her Yokohama show. More »
And it's called 'Christian Mingle'
PITNB reader Rachel gave me the head’s up that Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert is starring in a new movie called Christian Mingle which is based on the dating website Christian Mingle and my head almost exploded from all the weird awesomeness. First, I’m really quite impressed that someone came up with the idea to make a movie based on Christian Mingle. Second, I’m thrilled that Lacey won the lead role in this awesome-sounding movie. Honestly, the premise sounds more like a movie you’d see on the Hallmark Channel but still, I’m intrigued. Lacey‘s character is NOT a Christian but she’s so thirsty to find a man that she pretends to be a Christian on Christian Mingle and then meets and falls in love with a Christian guy named Christian (OK, I made that part up but wouldn’t this movie be better if his name was Christian?!) and she has to keep pretending to be a Christian to keep him until his suspicious mother ferrets out the LIE that she is NOT a Christian. My guess is that the guy, being the good Christian that he is, decides to love her anyways and Lacey‘s character becomes a Christian in the end and the couple proceed to mingle … in the Biblical way (but only after marriage). DOESN’T THAT SOUND LIKE A MOVIE YOU’D LIKE TO SEE? I’m not even kidding, I deffo plan to see this movie. It hits theaters this month so … who wants to come with?
Yeah, I dunno ... just go with it
So, I guess Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys has a new VH1 reality TV series called I Heart Nick Carter and on the show, he was trying to figure out a way to lose weight … or something (honestly, I haven’t watched VH1 programming since the Flavor of Love days so I may get the details of the show a bit wrong in my description). THE POINT of this post is that in this particular episode, Nick entertains the idea of having the fat zapped off his body and for his consultation, he had to strip down to a tiny blue thong … which, of course, was the highlight of the episode. Have a look below and see what the self-avowed “Fatstreet Boy” looks like in a pair of thong underwear. More »
