Here come the creepies
Last month, we got to see the first teaser video for the forthcoming new season of American Horror Story: Hotel. Today we get to see two new video trailers that have just been released for our viewing pleasure. As they did in previous years, the promo team for AHS: Hotel have concocted a series of creepy-ass video teasers that are meant to entice viewers to watch the new season of the show … while foregoing restful sleep due to the nightmares induced by the imagery featured in these video clips. The post-Zayn era is officially here
It has been a few months now since Zayn Malik left the pop group One Direction and while he is busy figuring out what his post-1D life will be about, his former groupmates are moving forward — full steam ahead — with their pop music dominance. One Direction has released the music video for their new single Drag Me Down (their first song released without Zayn Malik as a member of the group) and as you can see above, the British boys play US astronauts in the video. Casual attention to the song’s lyrics show that they bare no association whatsoever to the storyline of the music video, which doesn’t really matter to be honest. Click the embed above to get your first look at the new Zaynless incarnation of One Direction as they blast forward into space (and elsewhere) as a newly configured pop music foursome.
Evil Takes Many Forms
An indie horror movie titled The Witch made waves at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, causing quite a bit of conversation about how scary it was. Today we get our first look at The Witch in the just-released movie trailer embedded above. Set in colonial New England, The Witch seemingly tells a tale that we are already familiar with … but, as the first trailer above shows, in a very disturbing way. I’ve heard really great things about the movie, yes, but must admit that this first trailer is creepily unsettling but not nearly as terrifying as I’ve heard. My guess is that the filmmakers don’t want to give anything away before people can see the film. Check out the trailer above to get your first look at The Witch then click below to see the film’s poster artwork … More »

"I'm still alive"
Back in June we got our first look at the first movie trailer for Ridley Scott‘s new film, The Martian, which stars Matt Damon as a NASA astronaut stranded on Mars after a space mission goes awry. Today we get to see the just-released second trailer for the film which hits theaters in November. Based on the novel by Andy Weir, The Martian promises high drama in the most extreme circumstances. As you may recall, the film’s first trailer had a very tense, dramatic feel to it. This second trailer feels a bit more light-hearted, thanks to the inclusion of music. I am very much looking forward to the release of this movie. The Martian opens in theaters on November 25.

"You were looking at me in a way that I recognize."
Sir Patrick Stewart, one of the greatest living actors of our time, paid a visit to Conan O’Brien‘s late night talk show last night to promote his latest project (The Blunt Talk) and was queried by Conan about a recent kiss that Stewart shared with his longtime BFF Sir Ian McKellan on the red carpet of a recent premiere event. Stewart explained where the inspriation for the same-sex kiss came from and then offered to kiss Conan in much the same way. Conan, obviously couldn’t pass up the chance to share a smooch with Patrick Stewart and BAM! … the magic happened right before our eyes. Click below to watch video of Conan O’Brien kissing Patrick Stewart and have your entire day made. More »
The glorious return of Chvrches
Last month we learned officially that the electronic/synth band Chvrches is releasing their sophomore album Every Open Eye in September and we’ve, thus far, gotten to hear two songs from the album — Leave A Trace and Never Ending Circles (both EXCELLENT songs, I have to say). Today we get to see the just-released, official music video for the first single from the new album and as you can see in the embed above, Chvrches have revealed a beautifully simple visual representation for Leave A Trace. I’m a big fan of the Chvrches visual aesthetic which compliments their music very well. Their new album Every Open Eye will be released on September 25 and I’ll just be watching and listening to Leave A Trace non-stop on repeat until that glorious day.

"You're So Beautiful..."
You know, it’s like I really want to be one of the cool kids who doesn’t watch Empire and isn’t foaming at the mouth thinking about Season Two, but I am just not that cool. My body is ready for Empire and you can’t stop me from singing “You’re So Beautiful” to myself, my kids and the cookies I’m going to make later this afternoon. DEAL WITH IT. Jussie Smollett and Yazz the Greatest performed the hit track at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, but IMO, it was the god Gabby Sidibe (AKA Becky) who stole the show when she popped up on stage. Peep the video for more!
Up down, up down, UP. Down.

Last weekend, we got to hear Lana Del Rey‘s new song High By The Beach, the second from her upcoming new album Honeymoon, which leaked online a couple of days before it was officially released. Today we get to see LDR‘s official music video for the song which has just been unleashed upon the world. As you can see in the embed above, Lana is being harangued by an ambitious paparazzi photographer who won’t go away until Lana makes him go away. The video is pretty straightforward but it but be watched from beginning to end in full. I love this song, I dig the video and I want to hear the rest of LDR‘s Honeymoon immediately. Please enjoy.
The second song from their new album 'Every Open Eye'
Last month we learned that the band Chvrches is readying the release of their sophomore album Every Open Eye, due out in September, and we got our first listen of the first song from the album … a track titled Leave A Trace. Today we get to hear the second song from their new album and it is as gloriously perfect as the song we heard last month. The lyric video for Never Ending Circles is embedded above for your listening pleasure and as you can hear, it is so perfectly Chvrches, I can’t even. The music, the lyrics, Lauren‘s voice … perfect, perfect, perfect. This is the music I want to hear from Chvrches and I’m so glad they are giving us what we want. I know I am going to be obsessed with Every Open Eye when it is released. Until then, I’ll just gush and fawn over Never Ending Circles. Ugh, it is so good. Please enjoy.
At last, we get to see an actual hologram
Back in May we got to see the first trailer for the upcoming live-action Jem and the Holograms movie and, as you may recall, that first trailer confirmed all of our fears that the beloved cartoon that we remember from the ’80s has been bastardized and made into a tween, coming-of-age movie that looks nothing like the original source material. Today we get to see the just-released second trailer for Jem and the Holograms and, as you can see above, we finally get to see an actual hologram in this new trailer. It *looks* like the producers are trying to present this movie in a much more favorable way this time around, probably because of the onslaught of negativity that was generated by the release of the first trailer back in the spring. It looks like Syngergy will be featured in the movie after all but not in the way that we know her. Check out the trailer above and get your second look at Jem and the Holograms and see what you think. Do the story tweaks that we see in this trailer make you feel better about the movie overall? This version of Jem will open in theaters on October 23.
