Last week we learned that Rihanna met up with Eminem in Detroit, MI so that the pair could film the music video for his song The Monster but that video ain’t quite ready for release yet … BECAUSE, Em just released his video for his current single Rap God. You may recall that we got our first listen of Rap God in October and now we get to see the visuals that Eminem created for the song. As you can see in the video embedded above, Em is channeling the 80′s character Max Hedroom as he spits his rapid-fire (and controversial) lyrics. Em fans should be impressed. His critics? Yeah, probably not so much. Pick a side and enjoy … or not.

"I'm like Marina Abramović"
Last week Kanye West released a silly music video for his new single Bound 2 that he wants us to believe was made intentionally silly for the sake of “art”. In the wake of the release of that music video, James Franco and Seth Rogan created their own (brilliantly superior) homage to the Bound 2 music video and PITNB readers had a LOT to say about the clip. Today we hear from Kanye himself about the inspiration behind the Bound 2 music video in a new interview he gave to The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM and according to him, the cheesiness of the video is intentional. The video grew from his desire to take the idea behind those “white trash t-shirts and make it into a video” (ie. t-shirts like THIS). You see, like performance artist Marina Abramović, Kanye West is an avant garde artiste. More »
On Monday, Britney Spears‘s little sister Jamie Lynn Spears surprised us all by dropping a new Country song on us titled How Could I Want More. Altho I do not consider myself a Country music fan, I had to admit that I was impressed with the song at first listen. A day later, JL went one step further and released the music video for the track — which you can watch in full above. The more I listen to the song, the more I like it. While I do not listen to Country music at all these days, I was surrounded by Country music the entire time I lived in Oklahoma City, OK while in collage at the University of Oklahoma. I learned an appreciation for the genre and can admit when I hear a Country song that I like (even to this day, I still enjoy songs by Alison Krauss, Tracey Lawrence and Alan Jackson). There is something about the slide guitar that just gets me … I feel the pain, I feel the hurt and longing … I FEEL THE FEELS. I love the simplicity of this music video. Just Jamie Lynn in the recording studio singing her song behind a big microphone. This is a strong first effort by the young Ms. Spears. I’m really looking forward to what she throws at us next. I suspect a full album is on the way shortly. Are you a fan?
All the Stuff you Hate in One Music Video
What do you get when you take a producer/performer who has a penchant for annoying people and you put that person in a music video with another performer with an even BIGGER penchant for annoying even MORE people? Well, you get the new will.i.am music video for his song Feelin’ Myself that features Miley Cyrus on guest vocals/twerking. Yes, folks, all the things that you kinda really hate all balled up in one music video. It KILLS me to admit that I kinda love the beat of this track (so, yes, I may have bopped along to the song as this video played) but I really do think the world has had quite enough of these two individually, let alone in collaboration. EVEN STILL, I suggest you check out the video above and see what you think. Do you actually enjoy this song (even a little bit like I kinda do)? Or, are you just SO OVER every single thing that this video represents?
The guys in One Direction spend an awful lot of time together when they are on the road and on stage so it’s only natural that they would also so spend so much time together when they are not performing for their fans. In order to stay in tip top shape, the 1D guys have to workout … so, they workout together. Would YOU like to see what it’s like when the 1D guys get all sweaty together in the gym? Well, you’re in luck. Check out the video above and see how the band that works out together, stays together.

50 Million Albums Sold = Iconic
Rihanna was selected as the first ever recipient of the inaugural Icon Award at the American Music Awards last night and while I would agree that her accomplishments have been hugely impressive considering the short length of her career, it seems a bit silly for an awards show that continually attempts to distinguish itself as a “serious awards show” to give the first award of this magnitude to a 25 year old. The video embedded above features Rihanna‘s performance and award presentation at the AMAs last night … give it a look and then click below because I have a few thoughts about this portion of the American Music Awards. Miley Cyrus closed out the 2013 American Music Awards last night with a performance of her hugely successful ballad Wrecking Ball. As such, fans and critics were anxiously awaiting Miley‘s appearance on stage to cheer on/critique whatever performance she had cooked up for the event. Very smartly, Miley decided not to go for an over-the-top performance, choosing instead to deliver a rendition of the song that was fairly straightforward (even down to the 1000% completely fake attempt at crying near the end of the song). There was no twerking, Miley‘s tongue stayed in her mouth, all was good. The highlight of Miley‘s performance, tho, was the projection of a huge, extremely cute animated cat lip-syncing the lyrics along with her while she performed. Cats = the Internet … and Miley understands her target audience. Click the embed above to watch Miley (and her kitteh) perform Wrecking Ball at the AMAs last night and see what the influence of animated cat gifs on the Internets has brought to bear. Then click below to see a really supercute animated gif of Miley‘s cat looking so adorable that you will cry. More »
Jessica Rabbit in the Flesh
The 2013 American Music Awards is Ariana Grande‘s first AMAs appearance and she managed to, Oh I dunno, ONLY SLAY THE ENTIRE PLACE IN THE SPAN OF JUST A FEW MINUTES OF HER ANGELIC SINGING. In a sequined figure-hugging red dress very reminiscent of the sexy number that Jessica Rabbit wore in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Ariana blessed us with a live performance of her song Tattooed Heart and immediately made people weep with tears of joy all around the globe. I’m really taken with how much I love Ariana the more I hear her. Click below to watch Ariana perform Tattooed Heart on the AMAs tonight and TRY to keep from crying your eyeballs out. Be warned, the video below autoplays. More »
