"The word that I would like to eradicate today is 'Unspeakable'"
Viola Davis, the star of the new ABC drama How To Get Away With Murder, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Variety and this week was given special recognition at the magazine’s Power of Women luncheon here in Hollywood. Viola delivered a powerful speech in support of the Hunger Is initiative where she opened up about her own impoverished childhood. Click the video embed above to hear Viola‘s speech in full (trust me, it is worth your time) and then click below to see Davis on the cover of this week’s issue of Variety and learn a bit more about the Hunger Is initiative. The future is almost here
After the stunning success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies which Disney based on the ride of the same name in Disneyland, the company has decided to produce a new film based on another part of Disneyland — the area known as Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is described as a sci-fi fantasy film that … well, is all futuristic and stuff. The teaser above doesn’t really inform us much about the film’s plot but it sure does look interesting. As you can see in the embed above, a young girl is transported to a new place (presumably Tomorrowland) when she touches a special pin (which I have no doubt will be sold in pin stores at the Disney parks) … oh and the movie stars the newlywedded George Clooney. Have a look, see what you think. I’m intrigued by this teaser, are you?

Amanda is now on the run
New video has surfaced today of Amanda Bynes exhibiting more odd behavior. Today we see surveillance video of Bynes dancing by herself in a clothing store in NYC while security tries to step in and make her stop. This video comes along with a TMZ report that claims that Amanda‘s parents, Rick and Lynn, are now looking to get their daughter the mental help that she obviously needs. According to TMZ, Amanda‘s parents have already contacted a facility for her to check in to for treatment but ONLY if she agrees to get help. Apparently, Amanda is NOT interested in getting help from anyone, especially not her parents and, therefore, she is now trying to run away. Click below for more reported deets. UPDATE: Lynn Bynes, Amanda‘s mother, has issued a statement via her attorney regarding Amanda‘s recent behavior. More »
"It's all love"
Nick Cannon made an appearance at the NYC premiere of the new movie Addicted last night and he stopped to chat with Extra! TV on the red carpet about pretty much everything that is going on in his life. He explains that we weren’t supposed to see his new back tattoo yet because it’s not finished yet. He also goes on the record about media reports about Mariah Carey‘s vocal problems on her current tour and he also talks a bit about his children Monroe and Moroccan Scott (aka Dem Babies), who are currently on tour with Mimi in Asia. Truth be told, Nick Cannon comes off very well in this short interview with Extra! It might be something you want to check out.
'Sharing the World'
Way back in July of 2011, I was lucky enough to see the world’s first hologram pop star, Hatsune Miku, live in concert in her first performance in the US. Last night, Hatsune Miku made her US television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman. Miku is a completely digital performer and as you can see above, she does pretty well on TV. But, having seen her live in concert with my own eyes, I can assure you that video does NOT do her justice. She is an actual hologram and she is cool as Hell. Click above to watch video of Hatsune Miku performing her song Sharing the World on Letterman last night and behold the pop star of the future.

The new season of American Horror Story: Freak Show premiered on FX last night and it did NOT disappoint, not one bit. The premiere episode did a really good job of introducing most of the main characters and it provided us with a fun musical performance by Jessica Lange. Lange plays the freak show boss lady Elsa Mars and on last night’s ep, she performed a cover of the David Bowie song Life On Mars?. In case you missed it or just NEED to see it again, you can watch Elsa‘s performance in full above. I really enjoyed last night’s episode and am very anxious to watch the rest of the season unfold. On October 17, the film Dear White People will open in select cities and as you can see in this red band trailer (the NSFWness comes in the form of language, btw) the movie will very likely get people talking … which is the intent. What happens when a group of Caucasian students host a party that is African American-themed? Well, this movie will show you. I’ve been hearing about this movie but this trailer is the first I’ve seen of it. I can’t tell if I’m genuinely interested in the story or if I’m just curious to see how these racial stereotypes will be handled in this feature film. Have a look above and see what you think about Dear White People. Does this look like a movie that you would like to see in theaters?

This is TOO much awesome
The brilliant folks at CineFix have put together a short video that shows what Disney‘s animated feature film Frozen would look like as an 8-bit video game and as you can see above, the video is nothing short of perfection. Even if you’re sick and tired of Frozen by this point, you have to watch this video to see how cleverly it’s been adapted into a fictional video game — that I really wish existed! If for nothing else, you have to hear the music from Frozen in glorious 8-bit form and just really respect all the inventive hard work that went into the creation of this video. Ugh, it’s soooo good.

J. Law Makes a Splash for 'VF'
Yesterday we read excerpts from Jennifer Lawrence‘s new interview with Vanity Fair magazine and, as you may recall, she had many powerful things to say about the leak of her personal nude photos. Today, on a lighter note, we get to see really neat behind the scenes video from Jen‘s VF photoshoot, which was shot by famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier. This new issue of Vanity Fair will be a must see/read for many reasons, including the full set of J. Law‘s photospread. Check out the video above to preview what’s in store when this issue of VF hits newsstands this week.
