Yeezus declared himself "the greatest living Rock Star on the planet"
Kanye West was the headline performer at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK last night (after many weeks of controversy, including a petition that sought to bar him from performing at Glastonbury altogether) and as part of his set, he delivered his own version of the Queen classic song Bohemian Rhapsody. His performance of this song was, I think, a bit of a love letter to the Glastonbury audience as a way to show respect for England‘s storied musical history. But Kanye couldn’t help being Kanye throughout his show stopping set, where at one point he declared from the Glastonbury stage — for all the world to hear — that he is “the greatest living Rock Star on the planet“. Oh, Kanye. Click the embed above to hear Yeezy‘s rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody and then click below to learn more about his headline set at Glastonbury. More »
At the start of this week, we got to hear and then preview the music video for Selena Gomez‘s new single Good For You (Featuring A$AP Rocky). Today we get to see the finished product. The music video for Good For You is fairly minimalistic with scenes of Selena laying on a couch, taking a shower, sitting in front of a wall, laying on the floor … you know, minimalistic. The vid is so minimal that A$AP Rocky doesn’t feature in it at all. HMMM. Have a look, see what you think. Does this video make you like the song any more or nah?
"I am telling my story"
At the start of this month, we got to see the first video promo for Caitlyn Jenner‘s upcoming docuseries I Am Cait, which will debut on E! next month. Today we get to see the just-released second trailer for the series and as you can see, it is packed full of heart and familial love. The promo is centered around Caitlyn explanation why she decided to do this docuseries. As you can hear from Caitlyn herself, her reasons for doing the series are very personal, sound and hopeful. And I have to say, she looks really great in this promo … primarily because she looks so damn happy. Click below to get a new look at I Am Cait. More »
"This ruling will strengthen all of our communities by offering to all loving same-sex couples the dignity of marriage across this great land."
Not long after the US Supreme Court handed down their landmark decision earlier today legalizing same-sex marriage here in the US, President Barack Obama delivered a speech applauding the decision and giving his remarks on the momentous occasion. For years, President Obama has advocated for the advancement of equal rights for all US citizens and this speech is a culmination of the remarks he has delivered as our nation’s leader. The new Ghostface killer takes his first victims
Back in April we got our first look at the new Scream TV series coming to MTV this year and earlier this month, we got our first look at the new mask that will be worn by the new Ghostface killer. Today we get to see the first 8 minutes of this new series based on the Scream horror movie franchise. After hearing about this series and then watching the first trailer, I have to admit that I wasn’t really all that excited by this new show. I must admit that I am charmed by this look at how the series will start when it premieres on MTV. It deff has that Scream feel … and we get to see the first murders of the series … AND we get to see the Ghostface killer rocking the new mask. I dunno. I may end up watching this series after all. Check out the first 8 minutes of Scream: The TV Series and see what you think.
"Earth doesn't have just one hero anymore"
Last month, CBS released the first trailer for their upcoming Supergirl TV series which will debut on the network this fall. Today we get to see a second, shorter international trailer for the series that is far superior to the first trailer, IMHO. This second trailer is shorter and more concise than the first trailer and as you can hear in the embed above, it features much more exciting and non-sappy romcom music. Many people were turned off by the first trailer’s use of schmaltzy music which they felt made Supergirl seem weak or not serious. The music featured in this second trailer is very exciting and much better suited to a superhero series. Have a look above and see what you think. I think you’re really gonna love what you see here.

The best video you'll see all day
During a performance of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles last week, a magical and entirely wonderful thing occurred … the group busted out one of the most inventive live performances of Britney Spears‘s hit song Work Bitch EVER! It is being reported that our dear Britney Spears was in the audience at this June 20 performance by the GMCLA when they performed her song and as you can hear in the video embedded above, they only only thoroughly entertained the audience (Britney included, I’m sure) but they also delivered an excellent rendition of her song. I have a feeling that this video will be the best thing you’ll see all day, possibly all week. Please enjoy.
"Rap music has always been about storytelling"
Drake has teamed up with Fader magazine and Sprite on a new short film titled Obey Your Thirst that is meant to be an inspirational look at the rapper’s work. Filmed earlier this year, the short film embedded above features live concert footage from his show in February at Irving Plaza in NYC. Additionally, the short film features interview footage of Drake talking about his musical inspiration to become a better rapper. He doesn’t fear other established rappers, he says, instead … he’s more “worried” by the “kid sitting in his house that wants to be better than me and all those guys. That’s who I’m competing with.” To be honest, I think I’d be able to enjoy this inspirational film about Drake much better if it wasn’t titled after the Sprite advertising tagline Obey Your Thirst, mostly because it just sounds like a commercial. I do get that as a sponsor, Sprite wants people to know about their collaboration … I just wish it wasn’t so heavy-handed. Still, I think Drake fans will be able to appreciate this short film. It has been titled Obey Your Thirst, Episode 1 so the suggestion is that there will be more short films to come. Have a looksee and see what you think. Is this short film the kind of thing you want more of from Drake?
Ahead of the US Supreme Court's ruling to come this month
As the US waits with bated breath on the ruling from the US Supreme Court that will determine the legality of same-sex marriage in all 50 states, we see today that former First Lady/Senator/US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has released a new campaign video for her presidential run that is focused entirely on equality and specifically on the celebration of same-sex marriage. Titled simply Equal, this new campaign video seems to make plainly evident that Clinton believes that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of same-sex marriage when they hand down their decision this month. I am not going to jinx anything by saying anything other than the Court will issue its next ruling tomorrow and their final rulings for this term next week. Their decision on same-sex marriage will be among the rulings handed down either tomorrow or (more likely) next week. For now, I hope you will enjoy the beautiful message in this Clinton campaign video and I hope it bodes well for the news to come from the Supreme Court shortly.
