San Francisco Marathon: Accomplished!

The TV Guide

Welp, I did it. I ran my 4th marathon yesterday in San Francisco and altho it was one of the more difficult races of my running career, I can honestly say that it was also one of the most fun. When I signed up to run the San Francisco Marathon I honestly didn’t think about the challenge that I was taking on. SF is a very, very, EXTREMELY hilly city and unsurprisingly, there are a lot of hills over the coarse of the race. The hills were endless and really tough to run but I managed to push thru and get ‘er done. I always feel great when the race is over but my sense of accomplishment yesterday was thru the roof. If I can run a marathon in San Francisco, I think I can run a marathon anywhere else in the world. More »

San Francisco Marathon, Here I Come

The TV Guide

Today’s the day! Today’s the day that I take on the San Francisco Marathon, my 4th marathon overall in just the last 6 months. By the time this post goes live, I should be running at around the 5 or 6th mile of the 26.2 mile course. I can tell you right now, I’m excited and anxious but I’m also kinda terrified of all of the hills that SF has to offer. Because I’ll be otherwise occupied with the race all morning long, then my flight back to LA in the afternoon, I won’t be able to blog again until tomorrow — but our amazing girl Shannon will take good care of all y’all today :D My only full day here in SF yesterday was fun but really laid back and relaxed … just the way I wanted it to be. Chvrches Rock LA

The TV Guide

For the first time in far too many weeks, I’m very ashamed to admit, I finally got my butt outside to go for a run. With the San Francisco Marathon looming in a couple of weeks (YIKES!) I realized that time was running out for me to remind my body that it needs to run for a very long distance for a very long time. OY. After my run, I rested up a bit before I met up with some friends at the Fonda Theater to see Chvrches live in concert. I’m a newer fan of the band but man, I am so glad I saw them live last night … they were really great. I snapped some photos and video of the show, check it out below. More »

The London Marathon Pays Tribute To The Victims Of The Boston Marathon Bombing

The Perfect Day

The 2013 London Marathon took place earlier today in jolly old England and, thankfully, the event went off without a hitch. Today’s marathon was the first major race to take place in the world following the events of the deadly Boston Marathon bombing that took place last Monday. While security was beefed up for today’s race, it sounds like the event ran about as smoothly as possible. Ethiopian Tsegeye Kebede won the men’s elite race by finishing the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours and 6 minutes (!!!) while Priscah Jeptoo of Kenya won the women’s elite race. Before anything got underway today, a poignant and respectful moment of silence was observed for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Click below to see a few photos from today’s exciting event. More »

Dopey Challenge Accepted

The TV Guide

OK, y’all … I went and OFFICIALLY lost my mind. As you may recall, back in January I decided to run the 2013 Goofy Race and a Half Challenge at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL which was made up of the WDW Half Marathon on Saturday and the WDW Full Marathon on Sunday … back to back days — a total of 39.3 miles. Next year, WDW is taking things to the next level by introducing the inaugural Dopey Challenge … which is made up of a 5K race on Thursday, a 10K race on Friday, the half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday … on BACK TO BACK DAYS for a total of 48.6 miles. Registration for the race opened up today and, well, I’m an idiot. More »

My Anniversary Race

The TV Guide

Yesterday morning I ran the 2nd annual Hollywood Half Marathon and I am happy to report that it was a much better run than I was expecting. Because of my crazy schedule lately coupled with my infamous laziness, I did absolutely no training for yesterday’s run. The last time I ran at all was the LA Marathon last month. I haven’t been eating properly and I had a hard time getting to sleep on Friday night so I woke up Saturday morning feeling REALLY UNPREPARED to run 13.1 miles. I somehow found the strength within to get the job done and I finished with a pretty decent time. The 5K portion of the Hollywood Half Marathon was the first race I ever ran last year so I was very proud of myself that I was able to upgrade and run the complete half marathon this year. More »

From The Stadium To The Sea

The TV Guide

Yesterday I successfully ran the 2013 LA Marathon that took me and 24,000 others on a 26.2 mile excursion thru the streets of Los Angeles. To say it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done would be an understatement. To say that it was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done would also be an understatement. The day was a mixture of pain and pleasure, the likes of which I never thought I’d experience. As you may know, yesterday’s run was my third marathon since December and let me tell you right now … I’m SO HAPPY that I survived :D My day started really, really early Sunday morning which meant it ended fairly early as well. Click below to see some photos and hear about my pretty excellent day. More »

One Day Away

The TV Guide

Tomorrow morning I will be running the LA Marathon for the first time ever and to prepare for the big day, I made my way downtown to the LA Convention Center to pick up my race bib and other race essentials. Tomorrow’s marathon will be my third marathon and, hopefully, it’ll be the most fun. Except for my excursion downtown, I kept things nice and quiet yesterday … I even fell asleep before 10PM. Crazy, I know. I’ve been doing everything I can to conserve energy for tomorrow’s race … today, I will eat and eat and eat as much as I can ahead of the big day tomorrow. Needless to say, I think today will be another quiet one for me. More »

The Cork Town 5K

The TV Guide

Yesterday morning my friends and I made our way to Cork Town in Downtown Detroit, MI to run the 31st annual Cork Town Race. Yesterday’s race was the main reason for my quick trip home to Detroit so, needless to say, we were all very excited to get ‘er done. Each year, Detroit holds their St. Patrick’s Parade on the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day so that the Irish bars and pubs around town get to celebrate (and make big money) twice a year. At the conclusion of the race, the parade took part … but because my travel plans interfered, I had to miss out on the parade and get my buns to the airport for my return home to LA. Even still, we had a lot of fun yesterday morning at the race … click below to see some photos. More »

The ‘Ultimate’ 10K

The TV Guide

Earlier today I participated in the Live Ultimate Run 10K race in Santa Monica, CA as a kinda last minute thing. I was supposed to be in Aspen, CO this weekend for a surprise birthday party celebration for my friend Josh’s 40th … but, because he broke his collarbone, we weren’t sure if he’d be up for making the trip. It turns out he wasn’t so, we decided to postpone the trip. Because my weekend freed up, I was able to run this 10K. It was the first run since the Surf City Half Marathon last weekend so I treated the 6 miles as a recovery run :) The weather was perfect, the scenery was amazing … it was a really fun run. More »
