The Last Race Of 2014 (I Think)

The TV Guide

A few days ago, I was reminded that I had signed up a few weeks ago for the Holiday Half Marathon 5K race and when my alarm went off this morning, I was really reminded that the time had come to run the race. I was hoping to squeeze in at least one more race before the year was over and thankfully, this 5K race fit the bill. I was originally planning to run the full half marathon but in the ended, I decided a 5K was good enough so … earlier today, I ran one of my fastest 5Ks to round out a year of races for 2014. More »

The Avengers Half Marathon: Age Of Ultrent

The TV Guide

Welp, I did it … another half marathon in the books. Earlier this morning (WAY earlier) I woke up to run the inaugural Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon at Disneyland and I had a really fun time … well, mostly a really fun time. The Santa Ana winds were so intense this morning tho that the race was much more challenging than I was expecting. I probably inhaled about 5 pounds of blowing dirt and I surely got wind debris in all of my exposed orifices but the wind did keep the temps very cool and that helped make the run not hot and miserable so … it all evened out. Guess what … I have photos to share below, if you’re interested ;) More »

Avengers Assemble . . . For The Inaugural Avengers 5K At Disneyland

The TV Guide

So, yeah, I had myself quite a busy past 24 hours … in that time, I made my way down to Anaheim, CA to pick up my race materials for the inaugural Avengers Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland, I checked into my cheapie hotel, I met up and hung out with my BFFs Darion and Courtney at Disneyland and I ran the inaugural Avengers Super Heroes 5K Race … and it ain’t even noon yet. All of these things were very fun — especially the 5K which was the funnest 5K race I’ve run to date. I have a lot of photos to share, I hope you like :D More »

Going Out On A High Note

The TV Guide

And so … my 10th and very likely final marathon is in the books. Yesterday, I ran the NYC Marathon and had a mostly amazing, oftentimes freezing, mostly windy time running the streets of NYC. My day started at 4:20 AM when I had to get ready and make my way to the bus that would take me to Staten Island where I would wait in the bitter, windy cold for 4 hours before I got to start the race. Once I was off and running, I really took my time to savor the experience. I saw beloved friends along the route, met PITNB readers and basked in cheers, love and high fives from the New Yorkers lining the streets who came out to support the runners. It was an experience I won’t ever, ever forget. More »

Miler Mornings, Horror Nights

The TV Guide

With one week left to go before I run the New York Marathon next weekend, I had one last race to run here in SoCal ahead of my big race. I made my way down to Huntington Beach, CA for the Surf City 10 Miler race early yesterday morning for one last long run along the Pacific Ocean. The rest of my day was spent recovering on the couch … and it was glorious. Last night, I was invited by a group of friends to attend Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and even tho I hate hate HATE haunted houses, I bit the bullet for last night’s event and had a super fun, thankfully not-too-scary night with some great friends. Nailed It

The TV Guide

Yesterday morning, after only a few hours of sleep, I made my way to San Dimas, CA to run the annual Spooktacular Half Marathon as part of my training for the upcoming New York Marathon in a couple of weeks. I wanted to test the theory that I could run the half marathon without having to do much training beforehand. I know it sounds like a terribly unwise idea but I wanted to see if I was up to the task of running a half marathon a month and a half after I ran my last half marathon. Thankfully I was successful and I didn’t, you know, die in the process. More »

Disneyland Half Marathon: Accomplished!

The TV Guide

I did it! I survived my weekend of races at Disneyland with the completion of the 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon yesterday and altho I was feeling horribly ill the day before, I woke up feeing better yesterday and managed to complete my race with no problems at all. The race was fun but it was even more fun to meet up with some friends who met me at the finish line with a great sign they made in support of my run <3 I ended up spending the rest of the day in the parks before I came home to rest up, change and then head out to dance the night away at the Echoplex for their Smiths/Morrissey dance night. It was a long, very tiring day but I lived to tell the tale. More »

Barely Survived The Disneyland 10K

The TV Guide

Today I ran my second of three races this weekend at Disneyland and altho it was mostly a fun race, it was far from a fun morning for me. I’ve been feeling a bit queasy for the past few days and all of that queasiness came to a head this morning when I woke up totally nauseous. I figured it would pass but thruout my entire 6 mile run, I felt moments away from puking my guts out in the nearest trash bin (I wouldn’t ever puke on the ground at Disneyland). Thankfully, I managed to make it thru the race without incident but the experience has me really worried for tomorrow’s 13.1 half marathon race :( More »

Aloha From The Disneyland 5K

The TV Guide

So, today has been a pretty productive day thus far. Before I even started writing today, I ran my very first Disneyland 5K race here in Anaheim, CA. I got to town yesterday evening to pick up my race materials for this weekend and then picked up a few provisions at Target before I grabbed a very unhealthy dinner at Outback (MMMMMM, Aussie Chayze Froys). Then I checked in to my hotel and passed out. The race this morning was fun and, thankfully, not terribly hot so … my Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is off to a great start! More »
