Written by Aaron Sorkin
The Wrap is reporting exclusively that Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett has been tapped to star in an authorized biopic film about the life of Lucille Ball that will be written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. The film will feature involvement by Ball‘s children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., and will focus on her 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz. Altho not an original story, per se, I am completely in love with the idea of telling Lucille Ball‘s story in a serious biopic film. She remains, undoubtedly, one of the greatest comic actors of the past century and remains an absolute inspiration to fans of her work. Cate as Lucy just sounds so perfect, I’m shocked that no one thought of the casting before now. More »
Yesterday we saw video and photos from the opening night of Janet Jackson‘s Unbreakable World Tour kick-off in Vancouver, British Columbia on Monday night and, as you know, we have yet to hear anything official about the release of her new album Unbreakable. At this point, we only know officially that the album will be released in “the fall” on her own record label — but that’s it. No release date, no nothing. Today we do get to see the rumored cover art for JJ‘s Unbreakable album which may or may not be the real thing. Because it has not yet been confirmed as official, we can’t be 100% sure it’s genuine. That said, the photo of Janet is a new photo so there is a good chance that the album art is the real deal. Click below to see the possible album cover art for Unbreakable and see what you think. "The break was planned 'with or without Zayn' Malik"
A new report out of the UK, from the British tabloid The Sun, is reporting today that the members of the hugely successful boy band One Direction are planning to “go their separate” ways and pursue solo careers after the release of their next (and final?) album next year. As you should be well aware, former 1D member Zayn Malik already left the group earlier this year to pursue his own solo career and this new report maintains that the rumored forthcoming 1D break-up has been in the works for some time now, before Zayn left on his own. At this point, this report should be considered rumor because there has been no official confirmation of the split BUT when reached for an official statement on this report, the PR team for One Direction gave an suspicious “no comment” rather than a flat out refusal. HMMMM. More »

They better call it, 'Straight Outta Compton 2-pac'
The N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton has proved to be such a box office hit (on track to enjoy a second week in the #1 position at the box office this weekend) that we learn today that plans are in the early stages for a sequel film to come somewhere down the line. Compton briefly features cameo appearances by actors who play Snoop Dogg and Tupac and it is being reported today that the proposed sequel film will focus on those two men and their relation to Death Row Records (which was founded by Dr. Dre and Suge Knight). Normally, I would bristle at news of a hastily conceived sequel film that stems from an already excellent biopic film but considering how well Straight Outta Compton turned out, I am actually looking forward to the same treatment being given to the true life stories of Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur. The best thing about this story is that, while waiting for the Matt Barnes TMZ video to load, I was treated to a trailer for the next season of Party Down South. Because Party Down South is still on, and people are watching it (I’m, obviously, better than those people because I only watched Season One and maybe also Season Two). But I digress! I’ve said before that with all of the dating rumors constantly swirling around Rihanna, she is clearly living her life like it’s golden, and like she’s single. That makes me happy. And since we’ve never heard her vehemently deny dating a particular guy, I’m going to assume that all of those past rumors had some truth to them and/or she really can’t stand Memphis Grizzlies NBA baller Matt Barnes. She just ROASTED the bejeezus out of him on Instagram, and it’s pretty hilarious. Click inside for more!

A "fresh take" on the "fish-out-of-water tale"
And so, we learn today — once and for all — that all originality is completely gone from this world as we learn that another, totally unnecessary reboot is reportedly in the works. TV Line is reporting that Will Smith‘s production company is in the early stages (and they are emphasizing “early”) of putting together an updated reboot of Smith‘s classic ’90s TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The early plan, we are being told, is for the “fish-out-of-water” tale that worked so well the first time around is being revamped for a more modern story that will maintain the “spirit” of the original series. I mean, it doesn’t seem all that difficult to take something that you know already worked and tweak it a bit for a “fresh take” and repackage and resell it all over again. It’s neither clever nor inventive, it’s lazy. And it is happening with insane frequency in Hollywood. More »
He may join The Rock in the movie remake
Back in October of last year, we first learned that plans are in the works to adapt the TV series Baywatch into a feature film with Dwayne The Rock Johnson as the lead. Today we learn that plans for the film are still unfolding with the news that actor Zac Efron is now in negotiations to star in the movie with The Rock. To be honest, this sounds like the perfect movie for Zac. Baywatch is by no means a serious story and all Zac really needs to be able to do is run on the beach wearing red swim trunks. As far as I’m concerned, he deffo deserves a part in the movie. More »

It is unknown if he will reprise his original 'Ghostbusters' character
Last month, Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig revealed the names of the new all-female Ghostbusters that will appear in next year’s remake and, at the time, we also learned that original Ghostbusters actor Dan Akroyd will appear in the reboot in some capacity (either as a featured character or, as is more likely, as a cameo character). Today we learn that Akroyd‘s fellow castmember in the original Ghostbusters movies, Bill Murray, will also appear in the reboot. Because this casting news has yet to be officially confirmed, we don’t know if Murray will be reprising his Ghostbusters role of Dr. Peter Venkman or he’ll just film a cameo appearance but … it looks like the new Ghostbusters movie is going to look a bit like the original Ghostbusters movies. SPOILER ALERT (Prolly not...)
Yesterday Trent informed us all of this insane bit of news: The ONIKA MINAJ may be pregnant with the lurve of child the one MEEK MILL. Um. If that is true, I will lose it. Like, my head will explode, if I actually see Nicki Minaj with an actual baby bump, like, trying on those Dita Von Teese nursing bras or something. My body cannot handle that. Now, given that she emjoi laugh-cried to the “announcement” video on Twitter, my body can probably rest easy. But, just in case, we better investigate some recent Instagram photos and obsessively look for any signs of human babies setting up shop. Click inside for more!
She refers to Meek Mill as her "baby's father"
For the past few weeks, Nicki Minaj‘s boyfriend/tour mate Meek Mill has been in a very public diss track feud with Drake but it would appear that Meek has had time for other activities as well. Last night, Nicki Minaj announced to the world from the concert stage in Pittsburgh, PA that Meek Mill is her “baby father”. It’s unclear if Nicki was just kidding around or using the title as a term of endearment (eg. “baby daddy”) or if she was seriously letting us know that A.) she is pregnant and B.) Meek Mill is the father of her baby-to-be, but in either instance … Nicki‘s comments are getting a lot of attention today. Click below to watch video, shared on Twitter by a fan in the audience of Nicki‘s show, of Minaj‘s possible pregnancy announcement and see for yourselves what she has to say about her “baby father”.
