Oh, Aaron … again? Aaron Carter, the younger former pop-star brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, checked himself in to rehab this month in order to deal with his ongoing addiction problems. As you may recall, Carter announced his engagement to his girlfriend Maile Hochuli last April and then in May went on the record about Lindsay Lohan‘s problems with the law (he was all for her harsh punishment). Troubled Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean has checked himself in to a rehab treatment facility for the third time this week because, according to sources, A.J. was “out of control” and was not able to control his substance abuse problems. As you may know, A.J. and the rest of the Backstreet Boys are due to go on tour with fellow boyband New Kids on the Block but it sounds like he has to take care of his personal problems before that can happen. It appears that Lindsay Lohan is not quite ready to live in the real world again because she has decided to extend her stay in rehab a few days longer. Despite the fact that L. Lo‘s court-ordered stay in rehab ends today (i.e. she can leave rehab today if she wants to), she has decided to stay at the Betty Ford Center (likely thru the week) to get her life and affairs in order before she enters the big, bad world again. As one celebrity leaves rehab, another enters … such is the circle of life here in Hollywood. As you may know, Lindsay Lohan is due to leave the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA sometime this week after spending the last few months housed there. Today we learn that troubled actor, just split from his wife Courteney Cox, David Arquette has checked himself into a rehab facility. After a night of partying on New Year’s Eve, Arquette finally decided that it was time to get his life in order … and checked himself in to rehab. More »

Demi Lovato Checks Into Rehab

Another day, another celeb checks into rehab … but the latest celeb to do so is a bit of a surprise. Demi Lovato, the cute little Disney star who rose to fame in the wake of Miley Cyrus‘s success on Hannah Montana, has abruptly quit her international concert tour with The Jonas Brothers to check herself into rehab for physical and emotional issues. According to TMZ, Demi is not seeking help for substance abuse … she merely felt the need to get help after she was involved in a “physical altercation” with a female member of her tour:

Disney star Demi Lovato has bailed on an international concert tour with the Jonas Brothers — and has checked into a treatment center to seek help for “emotional and physical issues” … TMZ has confirmed through the singer’s rep. n a statement to TMZ, the 18-year-old singer’s rep says, “Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time.” We’re told Demi is not seeking treatment for drug use. The statement continues, “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.” The rep concludes, “[Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.” Sources close to Lovato tell us the singer was in a physical altercation with a female member of her tour recently … which was a “catalyst” in her decision to seek professional help.

It sounds to me like Demi might have some serious emotional issues to deal with … which is kinda scary when you consider how young she is (the girl just turned 18 back in August). People magazine are quoting a source “close to Lovato‘s family” who said:

“She was bullied in school. She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. … Demi is taking control by getting help.”

So maybe Demi and her female tourmate were engaging in some sort of self-harming behavior? Or maybe it was a physical fight? So sad! Whatever went down between Demi and the other girl, it must’ve been very serious … for an international star to voluntarily check herself into rehab and then tell the world about it, whatever went down had to have been pretty significant. I’m actually more surprised that this rehab story involves Demi Lovato at all. If you were to ask me which of these 3 young Disney pop stars would be the one to go to rehab out of Miley Cyrus, Selina Gomez and Demi Lovato … well, let me just say Demi‘s name would not be the name I’d pick. Here’s hoping the girl gets the help that she needs.

Judge Elden Fox Orders Lindsay Lohan Back To Rehab NOT Jail

A decision has been made in Lindsay Lohan‘s probation violation hearing today … Judge Elden Fox decided NOT to send Lindsay to jail, offering her one more chance to get clean, and has decided to send her back to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA until January 3, 2011:


Judge Fox decided to NOT take the LA Prosecutor’s recommendation to send Lindsay to jail for 180 days and opted, instead, to give her “one more chance”. Judge Fox made it clear to Lindsay that he was sending her to rehab until after January 1 in order to force her to stay sober thru New Year’s … he also made it clear that if she violates probation again she will surely go to jail. So there you have it … no jail, back to rehab — for the rest of the year. I guess we’ll have to see if Lindsay decides to make the most of this “one more chance” and stay clean and sober.

UPDATE: Here are a few more deets from TMZ about what happened in court this morning during Lindsay Lohan‘s probation violation hearing:

  • Lindsay‘s next court date has been set for February 25, 2011.
  • Judge Fox told Lindsay, point blank, “You are an addict. I hope you understand that.” Lindsay nodded in agreement.
  • Both Michael Lohan and Dina Lohan were in the courtroom, on opposite sides of the room.
  • Altho Lindsay was wearing her court-ordered alcohol monitoring SCRAM bracelet in court today, she will likely have it removed sometime soon.
  • Lindsay cried tears of joy after hearing Judge Fox‘s ruling, telling him simply “Thank you.”

I understand that Lindsay will not begin random court-ordered drug testing again until after her release from rehab in January and her court date in February … which seems really odd to me, especially since she will not be wearing her SCRAM bracelet either. I suppose Judge Fox is counting on the Betty Ford Center to keep her 100% clean and sober for the next couple of months. We shall see if they are successful in that Herculean endeavor.

Dina Lohan Reportedly Shopping An Interview About Lindsay In Rehab

On Thursday we learned of a report that made the claim that Dina Lohan, mother of the currently rehabbing Lindsay Lohan, was trying to sell a reality TV show about her daughter’s rehabilitation at the Betty Ford Center. Dina categorically denied that she was trying to sell a reality TV show. Today we learn that Dina isn’t actually trying to shop a TV show, she is actually trying to shop her first interview with the media about her daughter’s rehabilitation … and she’s reportedly asking for five figures:

TMZ has learned Lindsay Lohan’s sainted mother Dina is shopping around an interview for after she visits Lindsay in rehab this weekend … and the asking price is in the five figures. We’re told Dina is trying to set up a deal that would include allowing cameras to film her as she went to the Betty Ford Center this weekend. Some reports have suggested that Dina is pitching a reality show based on the ordeal, but we’re told that’s not true. Our sources say Dina is asking “in the high five figures” for the interview. We’re told none of the proceeds will go to charity.

Yeah, even tho I wouldn’t put it past Dina Lohan to try and sell a TV show about her daughter’s rehab struggles, I wasn’t completely convinced that that was her plan. The woman may be fame and money-hungry but she’s not a total moron. The idea of selling a single interview, tho, makes a lot more sense. Dina can deny that she is trying to sell the interview but I am 1000% convinced that she WILL give an interview about her visit with Lindsay in rehab this weekend and whether she admits it or not, I’m pretty certain she will be paid for the interview. As for ex-hubby Michael Lohan, well, since no one will pay him a penny for an interview about anything … I think he’ll still be trying to worm his way into the Betty Ford Center to try and get a glimpse of his daughter … which he will prolly photograph and then try to sell. With parents like these, Lindsay Lohan is just doomed.

Lindsay Lohan Reportedly Escapes Rehab

According to a new report from RadarOnline, Lindsay Lohan — currently rehabbing herself at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA — tried to escape the grounds of the rehab center to score some Coke … as in the carbonated soft drink beverage. I guess L. Lo was really dying for some soda pop and just had to try and get some off the rehab grounds:

Lindsay Lohan was caught trying to escape the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, earlier this week, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. But all Lohan, 24, desperately wanted to score was a coke fix — of the cola variety! In a tale so bizarre it is almost unbelievable, RadarOnline.com has confirmed the Hollywood wild child attempted to flee the Betty Ford grounds to sneak into the nearby Eisenhower Medical Center, in a bid to buy a soda from a vending machine. Lohan’s rouse was almost pulled off it wasn’t for her accomplice, another patient, whose clothing got caught on the fence. “Lindsay and her co-conspirator were forced to give it up and flag down a volunteer, who was crossing the center’s grounds on a golf cart,” a source, with knowlegde of the situation, told RadarOnline.com. “The pair was safely returned, decaffeinated, to their hall, were they were the center of a process meeting over what they had done.”

You know, as long as she was only lookin’ for soda pop and not anything else, I’d say this is a hopeful story. While I’m certain there are rules in rehab prohibiting luxuries like caffeine, this story could’ve been a lot more tragic. I just hope that Lindsay is really learning to control her demons … this is her chance to save her own life. Here’s hoping she makes good use of the opportunity she has been given to sober up.

Lindsay Lohan Surfaces At The Betty Ford Center

Yesterday we learned that troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan had checked herself in to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA and today we get to see the first photos of Lindsay on the grounds of her new home away from home. As you may recall, Lindsay very positively made the decision to voluntarily admit herself into this live-in rehab treatment center in an effort to clean up her act. And even if she decided to go to rehab to merely clean up her image, I still think her decision to check in is a very positive one. Today we see that L. Lo has settled in nicely and seems to be normalizing in the program:

Over the years, Lindsay Lohan has undergone rehab at Promises, Wonderland, Cirque Lodge, UCLA Medical Center and now, according to sources, the most famous treatment-center-to-the-stars of them all. The actress, 24, checked in earlier this week at the venerable Betty Ford Center, near Palm Springs, where she plans to stay until an Oct. 22 hearing to answer to a failed drug test while on probation in a DUI case, sources tell PEOPLE. A legal source close to Lohan says that although the move could affect how harshly the judge punishes her, Lohan entered the 30-day program “out of a recognition that she really needs the help from professionals and great medical care to help her rebuild her life.” The source adds there’s no guarantee Lohan can avoid jail time despite how well she does at Betty Ford or how long she stays. But even if the judge sentences her to 30 days in jail, as he has threatened to do, Lohan may serve less – or no – time because of overcrowding. Still, another source close to Lohan tells PEOPLE, “She’s trying to help herself and she knows the severity of this.” … Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, says she doesn’t know what the office will ask for at the Oct. 22 hearing or to what extent the stay in rehab will influence the prosecutor or the judge. Robison notes, however, that some of the work that Lohan will do in rehab will help fulfill previous requirements by the court. Lohan was ordered Aug. 25 to attend two behavioral therapy sessions a week, have seven contacts per week with a counselor for chemical dependency issues, attend 12-step classes five days a week, and attend four psychotherapy sessions a week.

It is my contention that even if Lindsay is in rehab for the “wrong reasons”, she still may benefit from the program just by merely being present there. Of course she is not going to get better over night … but if she is really serious about saving her own life, this rehab process will be a continued one … one that lasts for the rest of her life.
