"I'm sorry, Beck"
Kanye West, the man who arrogantly called for Beck to “respect artistry” on Grammy night earlier this month, just formally apologized to Beck on Twitter for his disrespectful behavior. The apology was posted on Kanye‘s official Twitter profile shortly after he gave a long interview to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 earlier today. Kanye also tweeted an apology to Bruno Mars for disrespecting him as an artist as well. Click below to read Kanye‘s apology tweets and watch video of Kanye‘s interview on BBC Radio 1 and see for yourself the part of the interview where West broke down in tears. More »
"Wanna get rowdy / Gonna get a little unruly"
Earlier today we saw amazing video of Christina Aguilera doing her best singing impression of Britney Spears and right now, we get to hear Ed Sheeran put his spin on a Xtina song. Ed stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge today to perform a cover of Xtina‘s 2002 song Dirrty and as you can hear above, he was able to transform the song into his own style of music. A few days ago, we saw video of Chvrches covering Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake in the Live Lounge and I’d say Ed‘s cover of Xtina‘s song is just as transformative. Check out the video above and hear Ed singing about sweatin’ til his clothes come off as he gets a little Dirrty with Xtina‘s pop hit.
"They were playing the Beck album… I was like this is kind of good."
Now that the hype has died down from Kanye West‘s antics on Grammy night earlier this month (when he demanded that Album of the Year Grammy winner Beck “respect artistry” and give his award to Beyoncé), Kanye is eating a tiny bit of crow in a new interview with the Power 105.1 FM radio program The Breakfast Club. In the interview you can watch above, Kanye confesses to being a hypocrite — imagine that. When asked about the Beck controversy, Kanye reveals that he hadn’t even listened to Beck‘s album before he lambasted it on Grammy night. He also shares that he accidentally heard some of the album this week during his dinner date with Taylor Swift and confesses that he actually liked the music. None of this is at all surprising me, I said it two weeks ago that Kanye probably didn’t even listen to Beck‘s album before he made his idiotic comments about its merit. Kanye offers a lot of silly ridiculousness in this interview … he even says that Beyoncé is “inspired” by his wife! LOL. I can’t help it, I find Kanye and the dumb shizz he says entertaining. I don’t ever take him serious, how can I? If you give Kanye West enough rope, he’ll eventually hang himself. Mark my words.
Chvrches paid a visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to do a bit of performing and as you can hear above, they put their own spin on the Justin Timberlake song Cry Me A River. I know that many folks will bristle at the notion of anyone covering JT‘s classic break-up song but as a huge Chvrches fan, I must admit that I really love this cover. I love Chvrches‘s brand of pop music and I really love singer Lauren Mayberry‘s voice. I can’t say that I’m the biggest fan of this Justin Timberlake song but now that I hear it done by Chvrches, I can honestly say I love it.
"I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy"
In a new interview with Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1‘s Breakfast show in the UK, Kelly Clarkson confessed that she can’t get anyone to collaborate and record music with her, even tho she says she has reached out to many people. Kelly‘s revelation came after she was asked which artists she would like to collaborate with. After Kelly shared that she would love to collaborate with artists like Adele and Lady Gaga, she revealed that she has asked “several people” to collaborate with her and they have all said No (except for John Legend, who appears on her new album Piece By Piece). Kelly says that after being rejected by so many artists, she feels like she has “the plague or leprosy”. Click below to read exactly what Kelly has to say about how she can’t get anyone to collaborate with her. More »
"She wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in"
Kanye West gave his first interview since the Grammy Awards to On Air with Ryan Seacrest earlier this morning and, of course, he talked at some length about the controversy surrounding his outrageously offensive attack on Album of the Year Grammy winner Beck. Additionally, Kanye revealed that he and Taylor Swift (the artist he previously disrespected back in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards) are now BFFs and announced that the two are going to hit the studio to record new music together. There were other things discussed in this new interview, including mention of Kanye‘s fugly new adidas shoes called Yeezy Boost, but it’s the bits about Taylor and Beck that are the most interesting. Read on, won’t you? More »
Missy talks Super Bowl, Bobbi Kristina & New Music
Missy Misdemeanor Elliott was a guest on Sway‘s Sirius XM morning radio show Sway in the Morning this week and she talked about a bunch of really great things … including her performance at the Super Bowl, her prayers for Bobbi Krstina‘s recovery and the recording of new music. Sway asked Missy if she would be attending the Grammy Awards this weekend and Missy said that she would not be attending because she will be recording with Timbaland this weekend … which is really amazing news. It’s probably not wise to hold our breath for any new music too soon as Missy likes to keep us waiting but I’m hopeful we’ll hear something this year. The interview embedded above is a really great listen but if you want to hear Missy talk only about her new music, skip to the 12:20 mark.
92.1 FM becomes B92 FM
Bad news for folks in the Houston, TX area who are fond of listening to news radio but Good news for folks in Houston who love Beyoncé because news radio 92.1 FM has been converted to an all-Beyoncé music radio station. The radio station managers say that the change happened because of poor ratings for the news format … and, as a result, 47 journalists were let go. Because Beyoncé is the “Queen Bee”, says the management, the decision was to turn the station into All Beyoncé, All The Time. 92.1 FM is now B92 FM. More »

Unconfirmed but EXCITING, nonetheless
Now, we should probably take this news with a HUGE grain of salt but DJ Skee made a huge announcement on Dash Radio yesterday claiming that Beyoncé and Jay Z are working on a joint album together. As you may know, the musical power couple went on tour together for the first time ever this summer (which turned out to be a HUGE success for them financially) so it seems logical that they might want to collaborate on a joint album together. The timing sounds really perfect … which is why I’m having a hard time totally believing this report. Considering how secretive Beyoncé can be when she is working on new music, it’s possible we may not know if this report is true or not until the very last second so it’s probably not a good idea to hold one’s breath. That said, how amazing would it be if B-Jay really did collaborate and put out a joint album together? Would you be down or does it sound like overkill to you?
Also, Alicia Keys will appear on Maddy's new album
Altho we learned a few days ago that we won’t be getting Madonna‘s new album until next year, we are hearing today some exciting news about her new music. Diplo gave an interview to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 and he revealed that Madonna‘s as-yet untitled new single is produced and ready for release … when she’s ready to release it. Work is progressing on Maddy‘s new album, which is still being recorded. Madonna has revealed that Alicia Keys has been brought on board to play piano for the album and, well, even tho we have to wait a while longer to hear her new stuff, it all sounds very promising at this point.
