The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge strikes again
Kelly Clarkson paid a visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge yesterday to do a bit of promo for her new album Piece By Piece and she busted out a performance of Rihanna‘s Bitch Better Have My Money that is so perfectly Kelly that I can’t even even. The video embedded above starts out with a bit of banter between Kelly and the DJ (including an unintentional Paris Hilton diss at around the :40 mark … I don’t know her! — lol) and then the performance starts at around the 1:50 mark. Kelly‘s version of BBHMM is per.fec.tion. Please enjoy.
Will he play Iron Fist on Netflix?
Actor Ryan Phillippe, who currently stars on ABC in a show called Secrets and Lies, gave an interview to Howard Stern today where he talked about a bunch of not-really important stuff … then he dished that he is in talks with Marvel Studios to play one of their superheroes in an upcoming Netflix series. The common believe is that Ryan is saying that he is in negotiations to play Iron Fist / Daniel Rand. Netflix has announced that they will be producing an Iron Fist TV series which will be similar to Marvel’s Daredevil but casting for the lead role hasn’t been announced just yet. It is also possible that Ryan is suggesting he might play another character (like The Punisher, should Marvel decide to make a TV show about him, or maybe a villain in season 2 of Daredevil) but I have a feeling Ryan is alluding to possibly playing Iron Fist. “I’ve got so many tales to tell."
Madonna continues to promote the release of her new album Rebel Heart and the forthcoming launch of her new Rebel Heart Tour in any way she can and this week sat down for an interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 to talk about thangs. In her chat, Madonna revealed that she’s been thinking about the possibility of writing her autobiography. Maddy reveals, duh, that she’s “got so many tales to tell” and since she made a stunning career telling stories in song, it makes sense that she might be interested in penning her own life story. According to Madge, if she wrote a book like this it would have to cover her whole life story … which is something that I DEFFO would want to read. Click below to hear Madonna talk about the possibility of her writing an autobiography and listen to her interview in full with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2. More »
"If it happens the other way, I'm alright."
Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s grandmother, Cissy Houston, made an appearance on the radio so Middays with Shaila on WBLS in NYC today to give listeners a bit of an update on BK‘s condition. Unlike the grossly exploitative other members of Bobbi Kristina‘s family, this update from Cissy seems more genuine … more poignant. Unfortunately Cissy has confirmed what we already know already (that BK has been moved to a rehab center for long-term care and that her condition hasn’t changed) and says that altho she is hoping for a miracle, she is at peace with reality that Bobbi Kris might never recover. Click below to watch a portion of Cissy‘s interview today to get work on BK straight from the source. More »
"I never said I was Joan Rivers ... I’m just trying to be me"
Kathy Griffin only quit as co-host of Fashion Police on E! just a few days ago but today she went on the interview circuit to talk about her reasons for quitting. As you may recall, Kathy posted a lengthy message on her Twitter profile announcing some of the reasons for quitting Fashion Police (saying she didn’t want “her comedy to be used to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference“) but today paid a visit to The Howard Stern Show and The View to discuss the matter further. In her chat with Stern, Kathy confesses that she probably shouldn’t have taken the FP gig in the first place. In her chat with ladies on The View, Kathy flat out calls Fashion Police an “anti-feminist … dog pile”. Click below to hear and read Kathy‘s scathing comments about Fashion Police. More »
This is truly one of Madonna's greatest interviews of all time
Madonna paid a visit to The Howard Stern Show today today chat about things in support of the release of her new album Rebel Heart, which was officially released yesterday. Over the course of her 1 1/2 hour chat with Stern, Madonna candidly and very honestly talks about a wide range of things. Among other topics discussed, Madonna confirmed that she dated Tupac Shakur in the early ’90s, she revealed she went on a double date with then husband Sean Penn and then married Mike Tyson & Robin Givens, she talked a bit about her “casual friendship” with Michael Jackson and much, much more. In case you missed hearing it live earlier today or just want to hear it all over again, you can listen to Madonna‘s full interview with Howard Stern below. More »
"My speech would have been like, 'Fuck this. I don’t want it'"
Iggy Azalea was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards last month and had she won, she would’ve been the first female artist to win the awards. Iggy did not win the award (the trophy went to Eminem) which is a good thing, she says, because in a new interview with LA radio station Power 106 FM, Iggy claims that she didn’t want to win the award in the first place. Yeah, right. Had she won the award, she says, she would’ve refused the award saying, “Fuck this! I don’t want it! Take it! Get away from me!” Yeah, right. Iggy also talks about her haters and she takes issue with the fact that people hate her as a white rapper but they love Eminem as a white rapper. "I'm sorry, Beck"
Kanye West, the man who arrogantly called for Beck to “respect artistry” on Grammy night earlier this month, just formally apologized to Beck on Twitter for his disrespectful behavior. The apology was posted on Kanye‘s official Twitter profile shortly after he gave a long interview to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 earlier today. Kanye also tweeted an apology to Bruno Mars for disrespecting him as an artist as well. Click below to read Kanye‘s apology tweets and watch video of Kanye‘s interview on BBC Radio 1 and see for yourself the part of the interview where West broke down in tears. More »
"Wanna get rowdy / Gonna get a little unruly"
Earlier today we saw amazing video of Christina Aguilera doing her best singing impression of Britney Spears and right now, we get to hear Ed Sheeran put his spin on a Xtina song. Ed stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge today to perform a cover of Xtina‘s 2002 song Dirrty and as you can hear above, he was able to transform the song into his own style of music. A few days ago, we saw video of Chvrches covering Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake in the Live Lounge and I’d say Ed‘s cover of Xtina‘s song is just as transformative. Check out the video above and hear Ed singing about sweatin’ til his clothes come off as he gets a little Dirrty with Xtina‘s pop hit.
"They were playing the Beck album… I was like this is kind of good."
Now that the hype has died down from Kanye West‘s antics on Grammy night earlier this month (when he demanded that Album of the Year Grammy winner Beck “respect artistry” and give his award to Beyoncé), Kanye is eating a tiny bit of crow in a new interview with the Power 105.1 FM radio program The Breakfast Club. In the interview you can watch above, Kanye confesses to being a hypocrite — imagine that. When asked about the Beck controversy, Kanye reveals that he hadn’t even listened to Beck‘s album before he lambasted it on Grammy night. He also shares that he accidentally heard some of the album this week during his dinner date with Taylor Swift and confesses that he actually liked the music. None of this is at all surprising me, I said it two weeks ago that Kanye probably didn’t even listen to Beck‘s album before he made his idiotic comments about its merit. Kanye offers a lot of silly ridiculousness in this interview … he even says that Beyoncé is “inspired” by his wife! LOL. I can’t help it, I find Kanye and the dumb shizz he says entertaining. I don’t ever take him serious, how can I? If you give Kanye West enough rope, he’ll eventually hang himself. Mark my words.
