Trevor Noah Has Been Selected To Succeed Jon Stewart As Host Of ‘The Daily Show’

"No-one can replace Jon Stewart But ..."

Last month, Jon Stewart announced that he has decided to retire as host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central and today we learn that South African comedian Trevor Noah has been selected as he successor as host. I can’t say that I’m at all familiar with Noah and his comic stylings but, for the most part, I’m hearing lots of very positive things about him. I guess my first reaction, over all, is how disappointed I am that in the whole world, they couldn’t find a woman to hire as the new host of The Daily Show but, apparently, there are more than enough men to host TV shows. But, I digress. Click below to read the official press release announcement from Comedy Central about Trevor Noah‘s hiring and learn more about the new host of The Daily Show. More »

The Mayor Of Springfield, IL Presents Cobra Commander With A Key To The City

"I accept your Mayor’s generous gift ... Join Cobra!"

Cobra Commander, the cartoony leader of the terrorist organization Cobra from the ’80s cartoon GI Joe, was presented with a key to the city of Springfield, IL by Mayor J. Michael Houston this week in celebration of the upcoming GI Joe Collectors’ Convention that will take place there next month. This fun little publicity stunt was meant to draw attention to the fact that this GI Joe convention will take place April 9-12 and I love it entirely. Having just watched the animated GI Joe: The Movie (1987) on the big screen just a few days ago, I am still on a GI Joe high so this little photo opp is really fun, I think. Click below to see the official photo of Mayor Houston presenting Cobra Commander with a key to his city and read the accompanying press release. More »
