Why Are Young, Gay Men Still Being Attacked In NYC?

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum

I usually try to center our YATNB discussions around something going on in celebrity/pop culture, but I need to switch gears for a minute here. A friend of mine has been posting about friends of his who have, in the last few days, been physically assaulted on the streets of New York City. I’m bringing it up partly because I’m shocked—and mad that I’m shocked, because I know things like this happen often (this main photo is a picture of Urena Morel Frankelly who was attacked last year). I also want to know if any of you have similar stories, or have friends with similar stories, and want to share. Click inside for more.

My Sunday Routine

The TV Guide

Another Sunday, another trip down to Anaheim, CA to hang out with my peoples at Disneyland. Now that the temps have fallen from the 100s down into the 80s, it was practically WINTER here in SoCal yesterday. Altho it was still hot, it was much less hot than it’s been for the past few weeks so it did feel like a relief. The day was fun and fairly standard. Fun Fun Fun, you know, the usual. I did get to meet a PITNB reader in the parks last night so that was really a great highlight of my day. All in all, I enjoyed another great Sunday Funday at Disney! More »

What’s Your Most Memorable Concert Experience?

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum

I recently announced on Instagram that I’m trying a new thing called “going out,” (which means, specifically, leaving my house for non-work-related social events) and it’s been going really well. My favorite part of going out, so far, has probably been the return of alcohol in my life. Now that tyrant King Josev (who has OMG been making me crazy with all his new advancements in getting around/knocking over/spilling/destroying everything in sight) is no longer nursing at night, I get to get my drink and my two-step on, and it’s been glorious. Last night, I drank. Sort of a lot. So much so that this post is going up about 3 hours later than I planned. But more important than the drinks was the Source 360 Wu-Tang Reunion Concert I went to. My partna-in-babymaking showed me the lineup earlier in the week, and we realized it was basically the concert we would design. Three of his faves (Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and Dipsetwho we saw last year), plus two of my faves (Lil’ Kim and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), plus the guys who invented C.R.E.A.M.? It was honestly one of the best nights ever. And, once again, I was reminded that concerts are awesome, and I need to go to all of them. I’m going to start today by living vicariously through all of your concert experiences, so click inside for more!

‘Nothing but endless Taylor Swift and Anaconda replays…’

PITNBr DJ FTW! And Other Awesomeness In Comments This Week!

It’s Sunday night and I may be losing my mind a bit. Somewhere between the start of First grade for one son, the start of Pre-K for another, and a third getting way more teeth than necessary, I think I’ve officially become one of those crazy mothers whoo just wants to put the kids to bed so she can catch up on The Strain, and make 10 sandwiches for the week. All of that to say, THANK YOU PITNBrs for another week of hilarious, awesome commentary to take my mind off the fact that I am probably losing my mind. Click inside for moooore!

When Is Time To Stop Supporting An Organization?

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum

Earlier this week I saw women on ESPN who were proudly wearing their Ray Rice jerseys, and defending the NFL player after video footage of him knocking out his now-wife Janay Rice went viral. Of course, my initial reaction was of disgust. But then I thought about it and I realized that one thing I don’t have in common with these women is that I’m not a football fan. The NFL isn’t an organization I give any effs about, and I wondered if that had an effect on my reaction, and theirs. Every time something big happens, there are often groups and corporations held responsible, and people start calling for a boycott of those organizations. But—let’s face it—many, many organizations (especially those that are for profit) are likely tied to some shady stuff. So, when is enough, enough?

Should This Celebrity Nude Photo Leak Be Compared To Rape?

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum

At the risk of sounding like a 72 year-old, I have to confess that I don’t really get the nude photo movement. Now, that doesn’t mean I haven’t ever um participated in said movement, but I’m not really an active participant and I never quite got all of the excitement behind it. This recent celebrity nude photo scandal has got me thinking some thoughts about nude photos, and since we recently learned that that photos will be in an art exhibit, I thought it’d make for a good YATNB discussion. ‘Fess Up: Which Celebrity Sex Tape Would You Totally, Unashamedly Watch?

PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum

Don’t judge me. But I’ve had celebrity sex tapes on the brain (clearly). Maybe it’s all the Love & Hip Hop Atlanta that I’ve been watching, maybe it’s that Amber Rose twerk video, which kind of felt like a sex tape… LOL. But I recently had this troubling flashback to that Hulk Hogan sex tape that the world was forced to endure back in 2012. OMG. That was an… experience. But not all sex tapes are Hulk Hogan‘s sex tapes, so we’re going to talk about celebrity sex tapes we’d kinda, sorta, totally watch for this week’s You Are The New Blog discussion. Click inside for more!
