BTW, Bey is only the THIRD black woman to nab a September cover
So here is a fun fact (just kidding, it’s not that fun)—only 19 black women have been featured on the cover of Vogue solo and Beyoncé just became the third black woman (after Naomi Campbell in 1989 and Halle Berry in 2010) to rock their most important cover of the year—the September issue. Naomi. Halle. Beyoncé. In 123 years of Vogue publications. So yeah, just some food for thought. And then there’s this adorable shot of Blue Ivy and Bey from Beyoncé‘s 2013 cover shoot. "The Reign of Beyoncé"
Beyoncé, the queen herself, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vogue magazine … and not just any issue of Vogue but the hallowed September Issue of the world’s fashion Bible. “There is only one September Issue, and there is only one Beyoncé. Moving, morphing, leading, flaunting: such is the power of Beyoncé that just one letter tells us who she is. Margo Jefferson, pulitzer-prize winning cultural critic, explores what it takes to run the world.” Bey‘s cover story feature has yet to be released online but the first images from her spread have been released for our viewing pleasure. Photographed by Mario Testino, Beyoncé commands the cover of Vogue this month. So much Henry right now
Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman / Clark Kent in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, can be seen in Guy Ritchie‘s new action film The Man from U.N.C.L.E. this month … as well as on the covers of the two biggest men’s fitness magazines. Henry is featured on the cover of both Men’s Health magazine and Men’s Fitness magazine this month and as you can see in the gallery presented here, we get to see two different sides of the hunky actor. In Men’s Health, Henry looks bearded and beefy. In Men’s Fitness, he looks slim and clean-shaven — take your pick, determine which Henry you like best. After you check out/salivate over Henry‘s photos, click below to preview his interviews in Men’s Health and Men’s Fitness respectively. More »
"Apple treated me like I was a voice of a creative community that they actually cared about”
Taylor Swift is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine where she talks about pretty much everything that has been going on in her life … except for direct reference to her new boyfriend Calvin Harris. Everything else? Yeah, she is happy to talk about that. The accompanying photospread, shot by famed photographer Mario Testino, showcases Taylor in all her glam fabulousness but it’s her interview that I find most interesting. Click through the gallery to see Taylor‘s VF photos then click below to read excerpts from her interview where she talks about her new friendship with Kanye West, her surprise that Apple Music backed down after her criticism, her enduring friendships will her horde of BFFs and her relationships with men (except for Calvin Harris) … AND watch behind the scenes video from the VF shoot where Taylor plays a game of Word Association. New Zombies! New Characters! New Cookies?
We are still 2 months away from the premiere of The Walking Dead season 6 on AMC but the time has come for the show’s promo to begin in earnest. The Walking Dead season 6 is featured on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine and as you can see in the photo gallery presented here, the new season will feature our fave TWD characters alongside new characters to the show … and a bunch of new zombies. The cover story feature in this week’s issue of EW gives us a nice preview of the new season, which you can read excerpted below. But I am so here for the photos. There’s something magical about the sight of Andrew Lincoln‘s Rick and Norman Reedus‘s Daryl patting one another on the ass while Melissa McBride‘s Carol looks on. Amazing. Check out the photos, then click below to preview this new TWD feature in the new issue of EW magazine. More »

"The pioneers ... made it easier for me"
On June 1, Caitlyn Jenner made her worldwide debut on the cover of that month’s issue of Vanity Fair magazine. But, the road to the cover of Vanity Fair was a long one, chronicled by a short film documentary titled Call Me Caitlyn. The embed above features the full 10-minute documentary, filmed and released by VF magazine, and shows us behind the scenes footage from the shoot along with interviews with members of the Vanity Fair staff and, of course, Caitlyn Jenner herself. Caitlyn offers some really great insight in this short documentary film, particularly her acknowledgement of the trans pioneers who came before her. Check out the video above, I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
"I felt ashamed. I was embarrassed to be me."
There are many reasons people blame the media for some of the biggest problems impacting the world, but I think the main reason is that the media—all media, really—wields power. Something as simple as an image on the cover of a magazine can speak volumes and can send a strong message about how we should all be feeling. In this way, the media controls a huge aspect of our society’s moral compass. So, putting 35 women on the cover of a magazine—women who were all questioned and called liars at one point—sitting them down in chairs facing the world, and leaving a single empty chair sends a powerful message about the face of rape culture, and gives agencies to those most effected (and to those who still haven’t spoken out, or those victims who are surely still to come). Long Live the King
Earlier today we got to see actor Charlie Hunnam in character as King Arthur on the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine, lookin’ as hot as ever. Right now, we get to feast our eyes on the full photospread of Charlie in the new issue of EW. Photographed by Marc Hom on the set of Hunnam‘s new film Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, we get to see just how insanely handsome Charlie looks as the legendary monarch. It’s hard to pick a fave photo from this batch but it’s sure fun trying. Enjoy.
The gift that keeps on giving
Back in May, Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis got temperatures racing with the release of his steamy Attitude magazine photospread. As you may recall, we got a really hot look at the child actor all growed up with the release of those photos. Today, courtesy of photographer Joseph Sinclair, we get to revisit Matthew‘s photospread with the release of an outtake photo that didn’t make the cut when Attitude was released in the spring. As is usually the case, professional photoshoots end up with way more photos than can be used in publications … and, as a result, many of those outtake photos go forever unseen. Thankfully, Sinclair decided to pick out a lovely previously unseen photo and share it with the world … gods bless him. Have a look below. More »
"I assumed that nobody would ever have the open-mindedness to cast this character black"
In May we learned that Broadway actor Taye Diggs will be returning to the Great White Way this year as the next star to take the lead in the new production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. In June, we got our first look at the actor in make-up for the role. Today, courtesy of The New York Times Magazine, we get an amazing behind the scenes look at Taye as he prepares to “transform” the role when he takes over next month. NYT photographer Ryan Pfluger was given access to rehearsals for the show and he expertly captures Diggs as he prepares for the role. Taye confesses that he assumed that they would never cast a Black man as Hedwig, which is something I think many people assumed. Personally, tho, I am so excited that he is going to become the new Hedwig becuase, OMG, he is going to KILL the role. Click through the gallery to see these amazing photos from the NYT and head HERE to read the article in full.
