DTLA By Rooftop

The TV Guide

Yesterday was, for the most part, a pretty chill day. That mountain of laundry that I’ve been talking about for about a week now still stands … actually, it’s grown a bit taller. BUT, I’ll get to it … one day. Yesterday was not that day as I spent part of my afternoon running around taking care of menial errands. I met up with Ollie last night for a rooftop hang at The Standard hotel in downtown LA which was fun and deffo the highlight of my day/night. More »

‘Little Devil In The City Of Angels’

The TV Guide

Alas, my BFF Sarah flew back home to Detroit early yesterday afternoon and I was left with an empty house :( I spent most of my afternoon trying to recuperate from the bizzy weekend Sarah, Adriana and I enjoyed and then it was back out on the town last night for more fun. Hustle Roses (aka my homie Ollie) performed a show at the Bootleg Bar last night so I met up with Caleb and Tamar to see her in action. She killed it, as usual. I got to spend some time with Ollie and Caleb after her show so that we could catch up a bit. ‘Twas a fun night. More »

Cruisin’ & Boozin’

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a fun day for Sarah and me as I was our first full day together here in SoCal. We spent the early part of the day in Santa Monica checkin’ out the sights and then we made our way to a top secret photoshoot so that I could conduct an interview (which I will share with all y’all as soon as I can). Last night, we settled in at The Churchill and ate and drank the night away. As luck would have it, the bar has an old timey photobooth and well … there you have it. Fun! Fun! Fun! More »

It’s All About The Hustle

The TV Guide

Last night I made my way out to the Bootleg Bar here in LA to see my girl Hustle Roses LIVE in concert. After her performance last November, I’ve been DYING to see her back on stage again. As you may know, Hustle Roses released a mixtape of new music titled Bitters last week and last night’s show was a showcase for her to perform the mixtape in full. I had an absolute blast! Pink reader rOXy drove up from Orange County to attend last night’s show and I got to dance, drink and chill with her almost all night … we had so much fun! Click below to see some photos from Hustle Roses‘s big show last night and see all the fun you missed ;) More »

Rollin’ With My Homies

The TV Guide

So, yesterday … so much fun! I got to spend time with dear friends who I haven’t been able to see due to geographic restrictions and various other reasons but, man, seeing them yesterday really made me happy. I got to spend the early part of the day with my dear Angie who is visiting LA from Boston for a few days. Then, I got to meet up with Justine and Gary at the Lisa Loeb show last night and just had the best time ever. I actually enjoyed back to back days of happiness and joy … yay, me! More »

Doin’ The ‘Cha Cha’ With Adriana

The TV Guide

Last night was pretty fun for a Monday night. I met up with Adriana for a dinner/hang session after many months of trying to figure out our schedules. Now that she’s unemployed, her schedule works much better for me so … yeah, we got to hang and have fun. First, we grabbed dinner at Pazazz! Sushi and then we made our way to The Cha Cha Lounge for drinks and fun. I always have fun with AY, last night was no exception. More »

Hope, Springs

The TV Guide

Ollie and I successfully braved the rain and HORRID traffic to make our way to Palm Springs for the weekend. We kinda sorta make a pitstop at an Outback Steakhouse on the freeway to sate our hunger (which delayed our arrival a bit) but, for the most part, the trip was easy breezy. As soon as we got here, the party got started for Jordan’s birthday weekend. Let the fun begin! More »

‘Batman Live’ . . . And In Person

The TV Guide

Last year I caught a news report out of London that focused on the creation of a large stage show based on Batman. At the time, I learned that Batman Live would be performed in huge stadiums in Europe … and that the show would eventually come to the US. I was under the impression that the producers of Batman Live were going for a live theatrical performance (a la Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) that felt like a concert (a la The Circus starring Britney Spears). When I heard that the show was coming to LA, I bought tickets as soon as they went on sale … many months ago. Last night, Batman Live opened at the Staples Center and I cajoled my friend Josh to go see it with me … and it was truly one of the funnest shows I’ve ever seen. More »

Hangin’ With The Hooligans, Night 2

The TV Guide

On Friday night I got to see one of my fave LA bands — Sweet and Tender Hooligans — perform a concert made up entirely of songs by The Smiths. Last night, I got to see the band perform a concert made up entirely (well, mostly) of songs by Morrissey. Yes, I’m a Hooligans fan. On both occasions, I had to haul my cookies all the way down to Long Beach, CA but I did so happily … and had a great time each night. Click below to see some photos from last night’s show. More »

Hangin’ With The Hooligans

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a mostly fun day. After all the hoopla of the iPhone 5 launch and the Space Shuttle Endeavor invasion of LA, I made my way down to Manhattan Beach for a hang session with my very good friend Josh Z. We met up for pizza and beers before we went to the movies together (we saw Dredd 3D, review forthcoming). After our hang sesh, I made my way even farther South to Long Beach to see one of my fave LA bands perform. Sweet & Tender Hooligans are performing two nights at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach … last night was all music from The Smiths. Tonight, they play all music from Morrissey. Needless to say, I’ll be there again tonight … but click below to see some fun photos from last night’s Smiths night. More »
