Well, actor Peter Mayhew has the pneumonia
Actor Peter Mayhew, the only actor to ever play Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies, was forced to cancel an in-person appearance this weekend due to illness. It turns out that Mayhew was stuck with a nasty bout of pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. Altho the illness can be very serious, Mayhew‘s wife says that his pneumonia is under control and he should be discharged from the hospital soon. But I’m guessing that sending our best wishes for a speedy recovery will do wonders for good ol’ Chewbacca. More »

For the most part, Justin Bieber has been laying pretty low lately … not really getting into trouble and not really causing much of a fuss, except when he tried to convince the world he bought himself a new private jet when, in fact, he did no such thing. Last week, video of The Biebs surfaced that showed him doing a bit of skateboarding and not really doing it very well (not to mention the dress he was wearing over his leather pants, ugh). Today we learn that JB ended up breaking his ankle because he posted a photo of his swollen foot on his official Facebook page. No word on how he injured himself but I’m gonna guess this break might be due to his poor skateboarding skills. Click below to see Bieber‘s busted foot. More »

"The gown is sooooo hipster"
Miley Cyrus was hospitalized Friday for a surgical procedure on her wrist which she did not explain … but she sure did enjoy sharing photos from the surgery. Actually, Miley shared one photo of her open wrist on her official Instagram profile … as well as a slew of Photoshopped photos of her wrist in an attempt to have as much fun as possible from her medical woe. The photos are fairly graphic but the Photoshopping is mostly fun. Have a look, if you dare.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen Tracy Morgan in public but today we get to see inspiring new video of Morgan walking on his own two feet, just six months after the deadly car accident that almost killed him. Tracy and his fiancée Megan Wollover were spotted on their way into a local post office and as you can see above, he was able to get around on his own … with the help of a walker. When asked how he is doing, Tracy said, “I’m fighting everyday“. It’s really great to see him out and about again but it does look like he has a lot of healing left to go. Even still, I have every confidence that Tracy Morgan will fight his way back to full health. He is so the man.
Despite the reports that her doctors want to keep her in their watchful medical care for at least the next year, a hearing officer at the psychiatric facility where Amanda Bynes was being treated decided to release her from the 5150 involuntary hold that was placed on her and let her walk out of the hospital on her own. As a result, Amanda spent her night last night roaming Sunset Blvd. in search of food and a hotel that would let her spend the night. Apparently, she was turned down from more than one hotel. Ugh. He had his appendix removed, which he posted on Instagram
Production is still underway on the current (and final) season of Sons of Anarchy and yesterday on set, SoA creator Kurt Sutter suffered a medical emergency. Sutter complained of intense pain in his stomach area and had to be rushed from the set to the hospital where he had his appendix removed. Thankfully, the procedure — I understand — went perfectly and Kurt successfully got his appendix out … which he promptly photographed and posted on his official Instagram profile … SO, if you want to see what a freshly excised appendix looks like, you can click below and see Kurt‘s organ. Yesterday we heard that doctors were successful in extending Amanda Bynes‘s 5150 medical hold to a full 14 day period but today we are hearing that the plan is now to extend control over her person for the next full year. According to sources, doctors will petition the court for a LPS Hold that is different from a conservatorship. Under an LPS Hold, doctors can force a patient to take their medication. These types of holds over a person are very difficult to get but in Amanda‘s case, it sounds like it is exactly the kind of thing she will need for her longterm mental health. More »

Honestly, it's for the best
Last Friday we learned that Amanda Bynes was placed on involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold after she was cajoled into flying home to SoCal from NYC after a few weeks of odd behavior in the Big Apple and today we learn that the initial 72 hour hold has been extended to 14 days. We are also hearing that Amanda is not happy that her parents tricked her into getting medical help … even tho it seems strange that reports of what Amanda thinks these days are making their way to media outlets when she is under supervised medical care. The great news here is that Amanda is getting the help that she needs and will continue to get that help for a couple of weeks at least. More »
FINALLY! There is some good Amanda Bynes news to pass along. After about a week of roaming the streets and stores of NYC exhibiting extremely odd behavior, after she had been arrested here in SoCal on DUI charges, I’m happy to pass along the good news that Amanda Bynes is finally back in medical care. After some drama at LaGuardia Airport earlier today, Amanda got on a flight at JFK Airport and landed here in LA where she was met by a car that, I’m sure to her surprise, took her to the hospital. Her parents successfully petitioned authorities to place her under involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold which means she will be kept under medical care for at least 72 hours. This may not be what Amanda wants right now but it’s deffo the care she needs right now. More »
