Despite the reports that her doctors want to keep her in their watchful medical care for at least the next year, a hearing officer at the psychiatric facility where Amanda Bynes was being treated decided to release her from the 5150 involuntary hold that was placed on her and let her walk out of the hospital on her own. As a result, Amanda spent her night last night roaming Sunset Blvd. in search of food and a hotel that would let her spend the night. Apparently, she was turned down from more than one hotel. Ugh. He had his appendix removed, which he posted on Instagram
Production is still underway on the current (and final) season of Sons of Anarchy and yesterday on set, SoA creator Kurt Sutter suffered a medical emergency. Sutter complained of intense pain in his stomach area and had to be rushed from the set to the hospital where he had his appendix removed. Thankfully, the procedure — I understand — went perfectly and Kurt successfully got his appendix out … which he promptly photographed and posted on his official Instagram profile … SO, if you want to see what a freshly excised appendix looks like, you can click below and see Kurt‘s organ. Yesterday we heard that doctors were successful in extending Amanda Bynes‘s 5150 medical hold to a full 14 day period but today we are hearing that the plan is now to extend control over her person for the next full year. According to sources, doctors will petition the court for a LPS Hold that is different from a conservatorship. Under an LPS Hold, doctors can force a patient to take their medication. These types of holds over a person are very difficult to get but in Amanda‘s case, it sounds like it is exactly the kind of thing she will need for her longterm mental health. More »

Honestly, it's for the best
Last Friday we learned that Amanda Bynes was placed on involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold after she was cajoled into flying home to SoCal from NYC after a few weeks of odd behavior in the Big Apple and today we learn that the initial 72 hour hold has been extended to 14 days. We are also hearing that Amanda is not happy that her parents tricked her into getting medical help … even tho it seems strange that reports of what Amanda thinks these days are making their way to media outlets when she is under supervised medical care. The great news here is that Amanda is getting the help that she needs and will continue to get that help for a couple of weeks at least. More »
FINALLY! There is some good Amanda Bynes news to pass along. After about a week of roaming the streets and stores of NYC exhibiting extremely odd behavior, after she had been arrested here in SoCal on DUI charges, I’m happy to pass along the good news that Amanda Bynes is finally back in medical care. After some drama at LaGuardia Airport earlier today, Amanda got on a flight at JFK Airport and landed here in LA where she was met by a car that, I’m sure to her surprise, took her to the hospital. Her parents successfully petitioned authorities to place her under involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold which means she will be kept under medical care for at least 72 hours. This may not be what Amanda wants right now but it’s deffo the care she needs right now. More »

It's his fault for not wearing a seatbelt, Walmart says
Back in June we learned that actor Tracy Morgan was severely injured in a deadly car accident that claimed the life of one his his friends after a Walmart truck driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and plowed into Morgan‘s car, causing a 6-car pile up. In July, we saw photos of Tracy making his way home after he was released from the hospital but I understand that he is still recovering from his injuries to this day. Today we learn that Walmart has unveiled their defense in the lawsuit brought against them for this accident. According to the company, Tracy Morgan is to blame for his injuries because they claim that he was not wearing a seatbelt. Is that not the most disgusting thing you’ve heard all day? More »

Um... am I the only one who thinks this isn't funny?
Okay, this is interesting. I think I’ve always been sort of vaguely into Sharon Osbourne, but I can’t help but take issue with these recent comments. I never watch The View, I don’t know if they do stuff like this all of the time, but it looks like they were all making (gasp!) shocking confessions yesterday and Osbourne‘s story got pretty deep. She opened up about this time when she cut herself to prove her love to Ozzy Osbourne, and I thought she was going to talk about cutting and the psychological implications of it. But instead she laughed the whole thing off, and said some things that I think might be problematic for people who really struggle with self-harming. Click inside to watch the video of her “shocking confession.”
"We were shocked because it looked so serious.”
The good news is that rapper Kanye West was able to perform his concert in Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday night … the troubling news is that he had to be hospitalized just hours before due to a seeming major health scare earlier that day. According to an eyewitness source, Kanye was rushed to Epworth Hospital in Richmond (Melbourne) with a sheet covering half of his face. Altho no one will confirm the scare officially, this eyewitness explains what she saw that day. According to her, the fear was that Kanye had either suffered a seizure or was about to suffer a seizure in the hospital. Yikes. Thankfully, everything turned out well since Kanye was released and was able to perform later that night but still … it sounds like he endured a harrowing afternoon in the hospital this week. More »

A whole universe of WTF
*Deep breath* Okay. I almost want to take back every single thing I wrote in that piece that was sort of in defense of Stephen A. Smith‘s comments about domestic violence. I almost want to say—nevermind, I was kidding. Or, more to the point, I was wrong. But it’s hard to admit when you’re wrong, so I’ll just say that seeing this footage makes me want to have an entirely different conversation. People. WHAT are we doing? Why am I looking at a video of a man knocking out his wife and dragging (and kicking—because at the 0:57 mark, he actually KICKS HER UNCONSCIOUS BODY) his wife out of an elevator. Before we even get to the incredible, effed up-ness of it all, I also have to say that there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to post this. If it was me, and I was in an abusive relationship, I would not want video evidence of my abuse on the internet. People are making GIFs in an attempt to show the severity of the attack, but I really feel for Janay Palmer. She’s married to him now, and I feel like I just don’t know what to say… other than that, we all need to do better as parents? Like, somewhere, somebody’s parents f—ed up, and now we have this video as a result. I also want to stress that what we are looking at may feel shocking, but IT IS NOT UNCOMMON. It is, instead, quite common. So, like I said, we need to do better. Click inside for more.
