"Are we dysfunctional? Yes. "
Just a short time ago, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of Blink-182 issued an official statement making it very clear that fellow Blink member Tom DeLonge had decided to take an “indefinite hiatus” from the band so he could focus on other “non-musical endeavors”. The surviving members of Blink announced that Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio would be filling in for Tom at already scheduled Blink-182 shows. Shortly after news of Tom‘s departure from Blink started making the rounds, DeLonge posted a message on his official Facebook profile saying, Nah, he didn’t quit the band … so … yeah, that’s what’s going on in the world of Blink-182 these days. Tom doesn't want to "participate in any Blink-182 projects"
Tom DeLonge, an integral 1/3 of the pop punk band Blink-182 has left the band indefinitely according to an official statement released today by the surviving members of the band Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Early reports that Tom “quit” the band have been refuted because, apparently, there is a difference between a band member going on “indefinite hiatus” and a band member “quitting”. "It is with great disappointment and regret ..."
Bummer news for fans of the rock band the Black Crowes … according to a statement released by guitarist Rich Robinson, the band has officially broken up. It turns out that there has been some infighting in the band about group membership, stake in the band and of course money and because things have reached an impasse, Robinson says, the band has to break up. I can’t say that I’m the biggest fan of the Black Crowes but I’ve always respected their work and really do like many of their big singles. It’s sad that the group’s legacy has to be tarnished by this messy-sounding break up but … such is rock ‘n roll. More »

Save The Date
Back in April of last year we first started hearing about the possibility of actor Channing Tatum starring in a stand-alone feature film about the X-Men superhero character Gambit when he started talking very publicly about his desire to play the role. Then in May we learned officially that Channing nabbed the Gambit role and in June we learned that the movie would be released before the next X-Men sequel film hits theaters. Today we learn that Gambit will be released at the end of next year, meaning that Channing will definitely get his wish to play the superhero character that he says he loves so much. More »

"I am more than the notes that I hit"
On New Year’s Eve, Tony Award winning singer Idina Menzel performed a live rendition of her mega-hit song Let It Go from the crazy successful Disney animated film Frozen on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC and when she failed to properly hit the penultimate high note at the end on live television, critics on Twitter began to skewer her for the mistake. As with all Twitter criticism, the comments ranged from really terrible to the absolutely worst possible thing ever … and they continued to be leveled at Idina all New Year’s Day. In response, Idina posted on Twitter a portion of an interview she gave last year about this very thing and brilliantly handled the situation with grace and class. Click below to see how Idina Menzel responded to the hate she’s been receiving on Twitter. More »
"You're a copycat, get back / I'm always on your mind"
Last August, lyrics from an alleged Madonna diss track titled Two Steps Behind Me about Lady Gaga were released online. Because no audio ever surfaced to corroborate the authenticity of the lyrics, the story kinda went nowhere … until yesterday. In the wake of an initial 13 leaked demo songs from the recording sessions for Madonna‘s as-yet unreleased album Rebel Heart and after another 17 unfinished demo songs were subsequently leaked, 3 more demo songs leaked yesterday … including the so-called Lady Gaga diss track Two Steps Behind Me. It turns out that the lyrics that were released in August were 100% correct (“You’re a copycat, Where is my royalty? You’re a pretty girl, I’ll give you that. But stealing my recipe, it’s an ugly look“). In response to the demo leak, Lady Gaga posted a nasty message on her official Instagram profile seemingly directed at Madonna even as Madonna and her manager Guy Oseary tried to convince us that the diss track isn’t directed at Gaga (yeah right). The leaking of Madonna‘s demos continues to get messier … and we are still more than 2 months away from the release of Madonna‘s album. OY! PITNB's Weekly Discussion Forum
This week’s YATNB could get intense, so let’s all try to keep calm, share our thoughts, and carry on. I will be the first to say that I feel like I don’t have a firm grasp on these recent reports of the Sony Pictures hack. And honestly—because of some of the disgusting things I saw in those e-mails—I felt disinterested. But I want to open up a wider conversation about the threat of hacking in general, because it seems like we are dealing with a new kind of something. I watched President Obama‘s year-end address (#TeamJamesFlacco), and I felt confused. And since then articles are popping up all over about North Korea’s involvement (or lack thereof) in the hack and subsequent threats against the United States. But I didn’t start thinking about the threat of hacking on a larger scale, until a new story that came out about Iggy Azalea, where hackers were threatening to release her sex tape (unless she apologized for some ignorant comments she made on Twitter). At which point I was like, Wait. What? Click inside for more.
"This is artistic rape!!"
Just two weeks ago, at the very end of November, two of Madonna‘s unfinished demo songs were leaked online while she was with her family in Malawi celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon her return to the US, Madonna was informed of the violation and she shared with the world her upset and displeasure at having her music stolen and leaked online. Today we learn, unfortunately, that more of Madonna‘s songs have been leaked online … a whole album’s worth of music (which isn’t due for release until next year). 13 unfinished demo songs, which are widely believed to make up the entirety of the album she’s been working on and has yet to even announce formally, have made their way to the Internet and are being widely shared among fans. Madonna is aware of the album leak and she released a short message to fans about the leaked music. More »
