A pathetic statement, I might add
For whatever inexplicable reason, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences decided not to include the late Joan Rivers in the In Memoriam tribute that aired during the telecast of The Academy Awards on Sunday night. As soon as the tribute was shown, a great many people took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the blatant omission. In response to the angry outcry, the Academy released an official statement that is so pitifully short that it’s almost not worth mentioning. Considering Joan’s long career in entertainment, including her appearance in more than a dozen films over a thirty year period (including Spaceballs, Rabbit Test’ and the documentary film A Piece of Work, to name but three), one would think that the simple mention of her name during the Oscar In Memoriam tribute might be warranted. Cosby "applauds" his decision not to
Last weekend, Eddie Murphy returned to the Saturday Night Live stage for the first time in over 30 years to participate in SNL‘s massive 40th anniversary special. As you may recall, those of you who watched, Eddie‘s appearance on the special was super short, not at all funny and severely lacking in … everything. Today we learn from former SNL castmember Norm Macdonald (who also appeared on the SNL40 special) that Eddie was supposed to do a skit lampooning Bill Cosby and, for whatever reason, decided not to do the skit … or anything else. Norm explained what was supposed to happen in a long series of tweets. Cosby caught wind of Murphy‘s decision not to make fun of him on SNL and issued an official statement applauding Eddie‘s decision … which, suddenly, makes applause feel dirty and tarnished. More »
Bobby plans to keep BK on life support, no matter what
In spite of Bobby Brown‘s refutation of “false reports” and pleas for privacy concerning his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, currently on life support in the wake of a bathtub drowning incident two weeks ago, Bobby‘s sister went on local TV this week to break the family’s privacy so that she could offer a supposed false report of her own. Today we are hearing very sad news that Bobbi Kristina‘s condition continues to worsen because her organs are reportedly failing. Undaunted, tho, Bobby is apparently planning to keep his daughter on life support no matter what. Additionally, he has issued another official statement through his attorney, this time asking the media to stop talking to members of his family who have no idea what they are talking about when they give “new information” about Bobbi Kristina‘s condition. "The false reports ... on the internet are egregious"
In the wake of reports today about the prayer vigil that was held for Bobbi Kristina Brown in Atlanta, GA last night and, I’m assuming, reports that the family is planning to take Bobbi off life support tomorrow on the 3 year anniversary of her mother Whitney Houston‘s death, Bobby Brown‘s attorney Christopher Brown (no relation?) has issued an official statement blasting “false reports” in the media. As you can read below, the full text of the statement makes absolutely no mention of the reports regarding the possible removal of Bobbi Kris from life support, but it does make vague mention of various reports from a list of print and Internet media outlets. Click below to read the latest official statement to come from Bobby Brown to see where he stands on matters. More »
"We did not digitally lighten Kerry's skin tone"
This week, InStyle magazine unveiled the cover of their new issue which features Scandal star Kerry Washington and almost immediately, critics made claims that Kerry had been made “unrecognizable” due to the lightening of her skin color. InStyle has issued an official statement regarding the controversy, claiming that they did not digitally alter Kerry‘s skin tone and blame photoshoot lightening for the lightning of her skin. Kerry, herself, seems content with InStyle‘s explanation … are you? Click below to have a look for yourself and see what you think. More »
Plus, the Brown & Houston families are feuding over BK's hospitalization
The good news is that Bobbi Kristina Brown‘s condition (in the wake of her hospitalization after she was found unconscious in a bathtub in her home last weekend) hasn’t worsened in the past couple days and has actually improved very slightly. This is not to say that she is out of the woods just yet but at least things aren’t getting worse. The bad news is that the two sides of her family — the Houstons and the Browns — are feuding so selfishly amongst themselves that Bobbi Kris was moved to a different hospital so that one side of the family could keep the other side away from her as she recovers. Insane. Additionally, Bobby Brown‘s attorney has released an official statement making clear that Bobbi Kristina never married Nick Gordon, despite assertions from the couple that they did get married last year. This is important because if BK is unmarried, Bobby Brown would be the next of kin and he gets to make the decisions concerning her care while hospitalized. More »
"Thank you for your prayers"
In spite of Bobby Brown‘s earlier official statement requesting privacy, the Houston family had gone ahead to issue an official statement of their own to the media about Bobbi Kristina who remains hospitalized after she was found unconscious in a bathtub over the weekend. Earlier today, TMZ published a report that seemed to suggest that Bobbi Kris is doing better today, making specific mention that “the swelling on her brain has gone down” and that she is now able to “move her eyes”. But this statement from the Houston family about BK “fighting for her life” was released after TMZ published their report. Hmmm. More »
Conflicting reports about her condition are cause for concern
On Saturday we learned that Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unconscious in a bathtub in her home. According to reports, she was revived via CPR and was rushed to the hospital in “stable” condition. Yesterday, members of her extended family provided a public update in an effort to relay the message that Bobbi Kris “doesn’t do drugs”. Today we are hearing much about BK‘s current condition … but the reports are conflicting. The prevailing information going around is that Bobbi Kristina has been placed in a medically induced coma and that she has significantly diminished brain function. But, E! News — who managed to get an official statement from her father Bobby Brown — is reporting that BK has not been placed in a coma but is unresponsive (ie. unconscious) on a ventilator. At this point, we know for sure that Bobbi is hospitalized and unconscious … and it really does sound like her prognosis at this point is grim. More »
A new documentary, new tour dates ... a new album?
For a few weeks now, the original members of the rock band L7 have been teasing a possible reunion with the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund a planned live performance documentary about the band called L7: Pretend We’re Dead. Yesterday, the original members of L7 announced officially that they are reuniting to play a pair of shows this year … with the promise of a full tour to follow. All of this news is fairly new so there aren’t much details about the tour nor is there any info about a possible new album but it sounds like the members of L7 are very excited about this reunion so I’m guessing anything is possible.
