"he is continuing to show signs of improvement"
Earlier this week we learned the very happy news that Tracy Morgan‘s condition had been upgraded to “fair” just about 2 weeks after he was involved in a deadly car accident. Today we learn the even happier news that Tracy is now well enough to leave the hospital. According to his publicist, Morgan still has a long recovery road ahead of him but he is showing signs of improvement so significant that he can now continue to recuperate in a private rehab center. "Kanye West dreams big"
So, remember earlier this week when we learned from Kanye West himself that it took FOUR agonizing days for him to Photoshop his wedding photo to PERFECTION before he could let his new wife post the photo to Instagram because Annie Leibovitz bailed on shooting his wedding a day before the ceremony? As you may recall, Kanye seemed to be putting Leibovitz on public blast for bailing on shooting his wedding, he said, because she was “scared about the idea of celebrity”. Well, today we learn that Kanye is singing a bit of a different tune in an attempt to backtrack on what he initially said about Annie. Leibovitz, for her part, is speaking out as well. Click below to read the he said/she said update to this dumb story. More »

He blames Kristeen Young for getting him sick, She denies the claim
Early last month Morrissey kicked off a new US tour in support of the forthcoming release of his new album World Peace is None of Your Business. I was lucky enough to see Morrissey perform live in Santa Ana and in Los Angeles, CA a few weeks ago and was looking forward to seeing him a third time this coming weekend in Flint, MI. Unfortunately, I will not be seeing Moz in concert this weekend because last night he cancelled the remaining dates of his tour due to a reported “illness”. And because everything Morrissey-related has to be dramatic, there’s a bit of controversy surrounding his tour cancellation. Moz is blaming his illness on his opening act Kristeen Young, saying that because she got him sick he had to cancel the tour. Kristeen is fighting back by making very clear that she did not get Morrissey sick, revealing that she was fired from the tour so that she could be made the scapegoat. DRAMA, thy name is Morrissey. Click below to read the he said/she said surrounding the death of Morrissey‘s US tour. More »

Oh Okay. Good To Know.
I’m going to talk about labels for a minute. Labels are tricky, and there are certain labels that we all resist. Nobody wants to be labeled a racist. You could literally release video footage of somebody joking about black people and ropes and chains and singing about joining the KKK, and they would still maintain that they were not racist. I’ve said in the past that “racist” is, indeed, a complicated term that goes beyond how one feels about people of color. It has to do with economics and social power. But even with other labels, I find that people believe evading a label strips them of any responsibility. In relationships, until you get the label of “girlfriend” or “boyfriend” or “exclusive,” you’re technically free to do as you please. But we all know it’s way more complicated than that. How many of us have said before, “I’m not a bad person!” or “I’m a good mother!” It’s as if labeling ourselves (or not labeling ourselves) one or the other absolves us of certain behavior. In short, it’s bullshit. And it’s a way out. So, Usher, I don’t really GAF about how you choose to label your friend/investment. But let’s read your statement anyway, just for fun.
"I wish people would stop ..."
A couple of days ago photos that were taken on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII were leaked to the Internets and a day later, more photos purported to be from the Star Wars set came to light as well. Just a short time ago, director JJ Abrams posted on Twitter a note that he wrote to the cast and crew of Episode VII asking them to “stop leaking photos” from the movie set. JJ‘s note also “clears up” rumors that the Millennium Falcon will appear in the movie. Click below to read JJ‘s note and see what he has to say about the photo leaks from the Star Wars set. More »

Last week we learned that Brad Pitt was physically assaulted by an unruly prankster named Vitalii Sediuk (the same man who crawled under America Ferrera‘s dress on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival a few weeks ago) on the red carpet of the Hollywood premiere of Maleficent and today we are hearing from Brad himself about the incident. Brad issued an official statement to People magazine about the incident to clarify exactly what happened to him and to make plain his feelings on the assault. Read the full text of Brad‘s statement below. More »
'Game of Thrones' star Gwendoline Christie also joins the cast
Earlier today we got to see a batch of leaked photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII and right now, we learn some exciting casting news for the film. Back in March we first heard that Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o was in talks to join the cast of Episode VII but when the first photo of the assembled cast was released in April, Lupita was NOT featured as a member of the cast. Today, tho, we have official confirmation that Nyong’o has been added to the cast of the film, along with Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie (the actress who plays Brianne of Tarth). Yesterday was a very busy day on the blog with so many fun things going on but hopefully you didn’t miss that Justin Bieber story. The pop star was on camera using the word nigger in a joke about black people and chainsaws (true story), and I just knew there would be an official apology statement coming. It’s here y’all. And it’s everything we knew it would be. Click inside for more people apologizing for using the word nigger! Because, seriously. It never ends.

'Why Did Chris Die?'
In an effort to keep the conversation about the UCSB shooting going, I want to share this Facebook post from documentary filmmaker Michael Moore. But before I do I want to share a comment from a recent review I wrote. I watched a film called Farmland and a reader suggested that the film might have been “merely propaganda” given the people behind it. People have, similarly, accused Michael Moore of using propaganda in his documentaries (even as he accuses the subjects of his films of the same). In a way, I think most films carry some sort of propaganda with them. Documentarians have their own agendas, and—sure—everything should be taken with a grain of salt. So, before someone accuses me of supporting propaganda, or a particular agenda, let me just acknowledge my own bias. I don’t understand the value of guns. I understand the value of rights, but I don’t understand the specific value we have placed on the right to bare arms. So yes, sure. This piece (like every piece I’ve ever written) reflects my own personal agenda. Click inside for more of that!
