Back in April we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal would be making his off-Broadway stage debut this summer in a new production of Little Shop of Horrors. Last night, Jakey poo made his Little Shop debut in his first of 3 performances as Seymour in the off-Broadway production staged by New York City Center Encores! For the most part, Jake is getting great reviews for his performance last night (which includes sining, obvs) but his co-stars Ellen Greene (Audrey) and Eddie Cooper (Audrey II aka the Killer Plant) are the real stars of this production. Today we learn that the folks who created the Cruel Intentions musical will unveil this summer a musical based on the TV series The OC. Yes, this is a real thing that is really happening. "I've written the book and it’s a jukebox musical"
The iconic 1995 film Clueless is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year which was marked back in April by the special edition release of the soundtrack on vinyl. We learn today that Clueless is being adapted into a stage musical and that director Amy Heckerling has written the book for the show. OMG. Heckerling sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight to dish a bit about the forthcoming Clueless: The Musical and as you can see below, she seems very excited to help bring this “jukebox musical” to life on the musical theater stage. OMG. Clueless: The Musical … couldn’t you just die?! More »
Last month we learned that seasoned Broadway actor Taye Diggs will be starring in the current production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch this summer when he takes over the lead role from Glee actor Darren Criss who currently has the role. Today we get our first look at Taye in make-up as Hedwig as he will appear in Angry Inch starting next month. As expected, Taye all glammed up as Hedwig is a strikingly beautiful sight to see. I mean, how do you make an already beautiful man look prettier? You paint his face with bright colors and glitter, duh. Have a look. More »
'The Man Who Fell to Earth': The Musical
Last year, Michael C. Hall played Hedwig in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. This year, MCH will play Thomas Newton in New York Theatre Workshop’s production of Lazarus … a show based on the Walter Tevis novel The Man Who Fell to Earth which, you may know, was adapted into a film that starred David Bowie. This new production of Lazarus is co-written by Bowie, will feature his music and will, undoubtedly, become one of the MUST-SEE musical theater shows of the year. OMG. Michael C. Hall and David Bowie, AM I DREAMING?! More »

Last night was a really fun night for me … I got to spend time with my friend Michael (who I don’t get to see nearly as much as I’d like due to the fact that he lives in NYC) and then I got to see Jurassic World in 4DX again (I know, I’m obsessed, I can’t help it). Michael has been in San Francisco lately directing a production of Peter Pan (which I am SO BUMMED I missed, it closes this weekend) and he was passing through LA yesterday and reached out for a hang. He took me to see a musical production at the Geffen Playhouse that blew me away so entirely, I can’t even believe how lucky I was to see the show. After my time with Michael, I met up with Eileen and her friend Jacqui at the Regal Cinemas Theater at LA Live in DTLA to see Jurassic again in 4DX … and it was just as fun as the first time! More »
"A Little Party Never Killed Nobody"
Way back in 2013, I was lucky enough to attend a performance of For The Record: Baz Luhrmann In Concert here in LA which is a live theatrical experience that marries the music from Baz Luhrmann‘s films with singing, dance and spectacle in a 360 degree theater. Today we learn that Baz is making the movie to Las Vegas where the show will be performed on a grander scale at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. The video embedded above gives you a sense of what the show will be like in Sin City and you can click below to learn more about For The Record: Baz in Las Vegas, which begins performances THIS MONTH! She's officially back on the scene
Earlier this month we saw a photo of Michael Jackson‘s only daughter, Paris Michael Katherine, posing with her new boyfriend and professional soccer player Chester Castellaw and today, we get to see the pair making their official red carpet debut as a couple. Paris has been out of the spotlight for sometime but appears ready to get back on the scene. The photo she shared previously was the first sign that she was back among us. This red carpet debut to show off her boyfriend seems a clear indication that her troubles are behind her and, hopefully, she has a happy future in front of her. More »
Remember how Sarah Michelle Gellar shared a cute photo with her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Alyson Hannigan a few days ago? Yeah, well, she kinda outdid herself last night when she met up with her Cruel Intentions co-stars Selma Blair and Reese Witherspoon for a mini-reunion here in LA. The ladies got together to attend a performance of Cruel Intentions: The Musical, which is so mind-blowingly amazing that I can barely believe it happened. The ladies posed for photos together (including on the red carpet, where Sarah and Selma recreated their infamous kiss from the movie) and were videoed singing their hearts out during the performance. OMG. It’s too much! It’s just too much amazing for words. More »
"This is the best idea we've ever had"
Last night, NBC aired a telethon to benefit Red Nose Day here in the US which is an initiative to raise funds for needy families. Among the skits and performances aired during the telethon, was the bit embedded above that shows us what a Game of Thrones musical composed by Coldplay might look and sound like. I didn’t watch the telethon last night but I do love this clip. Check it out, see if you like it, too. And if you would like to donate to support Red Nose Day, you can do so HERE.
