In Case You Were Curious About His Actual Music
Seeing as how I just wrote an entire PITNB popCulture post on him, I have run out of good, eloquent things to say about Frank Ocean. I am reduced to: he’s… just… awesomeness. Anyway, he just released a new track on his tumblr called Sweet Life. Although the two songs are very different, the vibe is reminiscent of the Nas/Amy Winehouse track we just heard– mellow, jazzy and summer-perfect.

We know that Kanye has been busy with G.O.O.D. Music and they’ve already dropped a few gems off their summer compilation album (Mercy, New God Flow) Cruel Summer. But what we didn’t know is that Kanye has been, apparently, working on his sixth solo project as well. MTV News caught up with super-producer No I.D., who spoke briefly about the new ‘Ye album. All I know is, Pusha T better be all up and through there.

That-Ish-Cray of the Day
kay, we all know that– despite some very misleading headlines out there–she doesn’t really rap. But what Tina Fey does on Childish Gambino‘s Real Estate track is still pretty funny, very SNL, and definitely worth listening to. Check out Tina Fey‘s brilliant impersonation of rap artists everywhere inside.
"Hey, Guess What"
Back in March we learned that P!nk had begun work on a new album … today we learn from P!nk herself that the album has been titled and will be released in September. Fast work, don’tcha think? P!nk released a short video message to fans this week announcing the forthcoming release of her new album. Additionally, she has released the first single from the album, a track cheekily titled Blow Me (One Last Kiss). Soundtrack To My Day
Life is good when good music is in the air, and we’re lucky enough to have Nas and Amy Winehouse‘s collaborative effort Cherry Wine on deck! I have my ups and downs with Nas, but he and Amy‘s voices are so complimentary on this track, I temporarily forgive him for what he did to Kelis. But seriously– and all personal dramas aside– this song is a perfect summer track. With its mellow beat and jazzy stylings, I may have it on repeat for the next 25-45 minutes.
A G.O.O.D. Time
Here’s the thing about Kanye West and Pusha T. They need to do an album together. STAT. Watch The Throne was great (shouts out to Frank Ocean), and I welcome a part deux. And it’s also time for Kanye and Pusha to just get on with it. I’m not sure if they can make a wack song together. See/Listen: New God Flow inside.

Xtina and Max Martin?
A new report out by Billboard magazine claims that Christina Aguilera is readying the release of a new song, produced by Max Martin, next month. Apparently, the new track is described as a “club banger” and is meant to be a preview of Xtina‘s forthcoming as-yet-untitled/announced new album. You may know that Martin is the songwriter/producer responsible for many of Britney Spears‘s biggest hit songs (including Baby, One More Time, (You Drive Me) Crazy, Stronger and more). It would seem that Xtina is lookin’ to secure some of that music magic for herself, too. HMMM. More »

Life Is Good For Kelis
We got to hear some sweet new music from Kelis yesterday and I’m thrilled that she’s got an album in the works. Her ex-husband, rapper extraordinaire Nas, has also been busy creating new music and his album (Life Is Good) is dropping later this month. But when Nas shared his album cover with the world, a lot of eyebrows were raised. As you can see, he’s holding a green dress… that’s not just any green dress. That is Kelis‘s wedding dress, and the only thing she left behind when she moved out of their home (after learning of Nas‘s infidelities). So how does she feel about him posing with it on his cover, above the words “Life Is Good“? Listen to Kelis herself in an interview with the UK‘s NME.
