First Listen: Christina Aguilera Releases Her New Song ‘Blank Page’

"I am a blank page / Waiting for you to bring me to life"
Xtina Sangs, Y'all

We are stil a little over a week away from the release of Christina Aguilera‘s new album Lotus but she wants us to give a listen to one of the tracks on the forthcoming release. Xtina has released the audio of her song Blank Page which is a slow, soaring ballad. Altho I don’t really care for pop ballads, I really don’t mind this song. As you can hear above, Xtina doesn’t over sing the song which is nice. The lyrics, I have to say, aren’t my fave lyrics ever but … the song is sweet. Xtina may overdo it a bit from time to time when she usually manages to get her ballads right. Check out the video above and give the song a listen. What do you think?

Watch: No Doubt Releases A Music Video For ‘Looking Hot’ [UPDATE]

The Band Has PULLED the Video for being Insensitive to Native Americans
Cowboys v. Indians

In late September, just before the release of their new album Push and Shove, No Doubt gave us our first listen of their new song Looking Hot. Today we get to see the official music video for the track and as you can see above … it’s an interesting video. The vid was directed by Melina Matsoukas, the woman who directed Rihanna‘s award-winning video for We Found Love. The video was shot over two days last month on the Valuzat Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita, CA. All of that sounds well and good but, I’m not sure I really care for the video treatment. As you can see, the video is Cowboys vs. Indians themed … which sounds innocent enough but I always bristle at the image of Native Americans treated as costumed characters. In Native American culture, feathered headdresses and brightly colored clothing are sacred things … when they are used as “fun costumes to wear” at parties, etc. I, personally, feel the sacredness is cheapened. What do y’all think of this video? Do you dig it? I still love the song but the vid, I’m not so sure :/ UPDATE: No Doubt have pulled the music video and have issued a statement regarding the insensitivity to Native Americans. Lady Gaga Brings Up Adele’s Weight In An Interview

'Adele is bigger than me, how come nobody says anything about it?'

Okay. So, many of us have seen and read all of the drama surrounding Lady Gaga‘s weight gain or whatever. And we all know how serious this topic is in celebrity; Adam Levine recently came out to voice his support of Christina Aguilera, and to call out those who occupy themselves with her physical appearance. And we’ve had plenty of discussions about femme body image and how it plays out in pop culture. Lady Gaga recently had an interview with Stylist UK and some comments she made about singer and new mom Adele are being taken as somewhat controversial, although they might just be complimentary. Click inside, and judge for yourself.

Watch: Alicia Keys Releases An Updated ‘Girl On Fire’ Video With Nicki Minaj

"Inferno Remix"
Girls On Fire

A little while back we got to see the debut video for Girl On Fire off Alicia Keys‘s forthcoming album of the same name. Although I couldn’t get over how amazing AK looked, I wasn’t a big fan of the video; the concept was cool but it was delivered in a strange way. Anyway, the new video has a lot of the same footage from the first, but Nicki Minaj gets featured, as she has a couple of short verses on Girl On Fire (Inferno Remix). Nicki‘s first verse is cool but the second one at the end of the song… total ‘meh.’ However, I did notice that they took out all the ridiculous product placement from the first video (BVLGARI and SONYas PITNBR Colleen pointed out– got major, unnecessary shouts-out). Peep the video for more! Anybody liking this version better?

Girl On Fire, the fifth studio album for Alicia Keys, drops November 27th.

First Listen: Ashlee Simpson Returns With A New As-Yet-Untitled Single

Do You L.O.V.E. It?
The Return of Ashlee Simpson

Back in the early 00′s, Ashlee Simpson stepped out of her sister Jessica Simpson‘s shadow and found fame of her own with a reality TV show on MTV. From that TV show, Ashlee was able to reinvent herself as a popstar … to some success. Her debut album Autobiography was one of my fave albums of the Summer of ’04 and she managed to enjoy marginal hit after hit with her second album. Soon after, tho, Ashlee got married to Pete Wentz, had a baby, got divorced from Pete Wentz and, well, she just lived her life out of the public eye. But now, she’s back. Ashlee will be releasing an as-yet-untitled new single on November 21 … but she gives us a sample of the song in the video above. Honestly, I don’t love it. At all. Compared her her earlier stuff, this song sounds weak to me. BUT, it’s only a sample so … I’ll reserve final judgement until the full song is released. Any Ashlee Simpson fans out there? Do you like the first taste of her new music?

Watch: Miley Cyrus Is Making Out With A Unicorn In Borgore’s ‘Decisions’ Video

But Liam Hemsworth Is The Unicorn So It's Fine. It's FINE Everybody!
My Apologies In Advance, Y'all

Okay, first of all let me just say that I’m kinda, sorta into dub step. I’m still bumpin’ that Centipede track from this past summer and when Taylor Swift dropped I Knew You Were Trouble, I officially became a fan of her music (I know, I’m late). So you can imagine my disappointment when I heard this new song by Israeli producer BorgoreTrent posted it back in August and aptly (and sarcastically) dubbed it the Collaboration of the Century. LMAO. He wasn’t lyin’ y’all. The lyrics are… pretty wack-tastic (although I do kinda like the ‘shoulda let bitches love cake’ part, for whatever reason), and the video is just as ridiculous. Oh yeah, and then there’s the singing. Which is also not good, IMO. Bottom line, this song totally gives dub step a bad name! But I had to watch the video and now so do you– misery lurves company! Plus you gotta see Miley (who I’m still referring to as Gwen Stefani in my head) make out with Liam the Unicorn. Enjoy/feel free to blame me for bringing this video to your attention.

Solange Knowles DJs At The Opening Of An H&M Store In Mexico

Solange On The Ones And Twos...

As we all know by now Solange Knowles is a huge musical talent with a great sense of artistry and fashion. I’m so glad I saw these pics of her DJ’ing at a new H&M store in the Sante Fe district of Mexico City, Mexico because it totally gave me an excuse to go back and listen to her new single, Losing You. Love that song/video! And I love Solange‘s look in these photos. Those ginormous loose curls, the red lip, the H&M blouse and top– she friggen rules. And bright colors always looks so good on her (remember those photos from her Madewell campaign), she’s just rockin’ it. And I bet she played some ill tunes for Mexico. Peep the gallery for more!

The Guitar From Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Video Is Being Auctioned Off

Pieces Of Nirvana

Last month we heard some not-so-great Nirvana-related news. Courtney Love, apparently, has plans to team up with Britney Spears‘s former (now disgraced) manager Sam Lufti to make a Nirvana musical. Or a Nirvana movie. They haven’t decided yet, but either way it sounds like a pretty bad idea, and PITNBR emily had some [amazingly on-point] choice words about the whole movement. But now we have a less devastating Nirvana story– Kurt Cobain‘s smashed bass guitar from Nirvana‘s definitive Smell Like Teen Spirit video is going to be auctioned off in London this month. Sigh. What I wouldn’t give to be a thousandaire right about now. Click inside for deets!

Watch: How To Destroy Angels Releases A Music Video For ‘Keep It Together’

"I Am Disassembling"
"I Can Not Keep It Together"

Early last month we got our first listen of the new single Keep It Together from How to Destroy Angels, the collective made up of Trent Reznor, Mariqueen Reznor, Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan. Today we get to see the official music video for the track. As you can see above, the video is a performance vid of the HTDA members performing Keep It Together in their studio. The haunting track is the main focus in this deceptively simple video. With live performances rumored to take place in the near future, we are getting our first taste of what HTDA may look like on stage. As you may know, HTDA will release their new EP An Omen on 11/13 … which means the live performances can be too far away. I can’t wait to see and HEAR more.
