Over the weekend, Garbage and Brody Dalle released a limited edition 10″ single that features new songs titled Girls Talk Shit and Time Will Destroy Everything. The single is limited to only 4000 copies worldwide so it was very difficult for every Garbage fan in the world to get a copy of the single and it is unknown of the songs will be released officially in any other format (eg. digital or album release). A music video for Girls Talk Shit is on the way but in the mean time, an industrious fan has uploaded video of the vinyl single being played so that fans who could not get a copy of the single can hear the songs. The video is pretty lo-fi but at least you do get to hear the songs in full (along with a chirping bird in the background). You will also note that the record is being played on the Peanuts Record Store Day Turntable that was also released over the weekend. You can hear Girls Talk Shit in the video above and Time Will Destroy Everything in the video below. Enjoy. UPDATE: The songs have been removed from You Tube but you can hear Girls Talk Shit on Soundcloud HERE (thanks Emmanuel). More »
Or was it "Paft Dunk"?
Arcade Fire closed out the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA last night with a headlining set that featured a guest appearance by Daft Punk … or, at least, a pair of people wearing Daft Punk-like helmets. When the guest performers were brought on stage, they were reportedly announced as Paft Dunk so it’s very likely that the duo on stage was not the real Daft Punk. Whoever they were, they performed a slowed down, creepy-sounding version of the Daft Punk song Get Lucky sooo … click below to watch video of this collaborative performance at Coachella last night and determine if you think this is the real Daft Punk. So says her BFF Mert Alas
In the past few weeks we’ve been hearing a lot of exciting information about the production of Madonna‘s upcoming new album — including writing sessions with Avicii, Natalia Kills and MoZella. Today, tho, we hear a bit of new information that I find hard to believe but I really have to share nonetheless. Mert Alas, of the famed photography duo Mert and Marcus, is really good friends with Madonna and, as such, is privy to Madonna‘s music … including the new music that she is making for her next album. According to Mert, he was able to listen to Madonna‘s “new album” last night … which seems to imply that the album is already finished. HMMM. Read on to see exactly what he said about Madonna‘s new music. More »
"Snow blows white on The Wall tonight"
So, what you get when you combine two of the most popular things in pop culture right now? Well, you get a mash-up music video titled Let It Go(T) which marries the insanely infection song Let It Go from Frozen with lyrics inspired by events that have taken place in HBO‘s adaption of Game of Thrones. For the most part, this video mash-up is pretty damn good … even if some of the lyrics could be tweaked a bit. Even still, you have to admit that it is a genius idea to combine Frozen and Game of Thrones in one clever video. Click above and enjoy. NOTE: the video assumes you’ve watched last week’s most recent episode of GoT so, the video may be spoilery.

Recorded, Pressed & Released in about 4 hours
Yesterday, as you may know, was Record Store Day and while many people lined up at their favorite indie record stores around the world to buy copies of limited and special release records, Jack White did something a little different … and historic. At his Third Man Records compound in Nashville, TN yesterday, Jack performed a new song titled Lazaretto which was recorded then pressed on vinyl and released for sale all in the same day … in approximately 4 hours. As a result, Jack is now the holder of the title of having released the World’s Fastest Record. More »
Mazzy Star was among the artists that released a special vinyl single today for Record Store Day and to go along with the release of their 7″ single for I’m Less Here, they have also released a music video for the track. In fine Mazzy form, the video and song are dreamy and awesomely ethereal. I love Mazzy Star. I hope you love this video, too.

Each year, independent record stores in the US and the UK participate in Record Store Day where customers are lured into their shops to buy limited edition releases on vinyl, cassette, etc. In years past, I’ve had varying degrees of success on RSD, oftentimes resulting in tears more than joy. This year, two of my all-time favorite bands — Garbage and Veruca Salt — released NEW music in honor of RSD and I knew that I HAD to be successful in procuring those releases … or else. The Garbage single is limited to 4000 copies and the VS single is limited to 1000 copies — worldwide! After many hours of waiting in line, and after making a few new friends in the process, I am happy to say that I was completely successful today in that I was able to get a copy of everything on my list :) More »

Last night I made my way out to the beautiful Orpheum Theater in DTLA to see Rufus Wainwright in concert. I’ve been a big Rufus fan from the beginning, way back when he released his self-titled debut album in 1998. My first boyfriend and I saw Rufus many times on his first tour and I’ve since seen him in concert with a few different friends throughout the 00′s. The last time I saw him, he played The Greek Theater here in LA. Last night’s performance was just as fun as I remembered his shows to be. More »
Her Single of the YEAR!
In honor of Record Store Day 2014, Kylie Minogue has released a limited edition 7″ single for a new track titled Golden Boy. Unfortunately, the single is only available internationally but thanks to the glory of the Internets, we can hear the song in the embed above. The song, quite honestly, is the best single she’s released in a very long time. It’s a shame that this song is only being released in this limited format because it’s really a spectacular song. Have a listen, see what you think. Don’t you wish Golden Boy was included on her new album Kiss Me Once?
