Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Got Hitched . . . Again!

Just a few days ago we learned that happily marrieds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were planning to celebrate their second wedding anniversary by renewing their wedding vows. On Friday night — April 30 — the couple did just that and celebrated their anniversary with another wedding ceremony (white dress, veil, the whole bit) attended by close family and friends … behold:

Pop star Mariah Carey has famously pledged to renew her wedding vows to husband Nick Cannon every year – but next time she may want to consider wearing a slightly larger dress. The singer appeared in danger of falling out of her skin-tight gown at the ceremony, held at the couple’s Beverly Hills mansion on Friday. The celebration took place exactly two years after their wedding on Ms Carey’s estate in the Bahamas. The couple first met on the Caribbean island of Antigua when Mr Cannon took part in the filming of the music video for her song Bye Bye. The couple listened to traditional wedding music, exchanged rings and kissed before Mr Cannon, an actor and radio show host, presented his wife with an engraved bracelet. Speaking of the couple’s plans to renew their vows every year, Mr Cannon, who at 29 is 12 years younger than his superstar wife, said: ‘I encourage everybody to do it. If you are happy and in love, celebrate it. ‘Doesn’t everybody do that? Don’t Heidi Klum and Seal do the same thing every year? ‘It’s just something fun to celebrate. We renew our vows and exchange gifts.’

Aww … this is cute. I think it’s really cool that Mimi and Nick want to renew their vows every year, it truly shows how committed they are to one another. I don’t know that Mariah Carey really needs a new wedding dress every year but, you know what, she is Mariah Carey and she could wear a new wedding dress every day if she wanted. As much as I love Mr. & Mrs. Cannon‘s yearly commitment to renewing their wedding vows, I kinda gotta call them out on the wee bit of tackiness that ensued on Friday night. Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Are Gettin’ Hitched . . . Again

Congratulations are in order for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon who have decided to get married … again. As you may recall, Mr. & Mrs. Cannon first said I Do back in 2008 in the Bahamas. Last year, on their first wedding anniversary, the Cannons celebrated publicly in Las Vegas with a lavish soirée (and apparently privately with a secret vow renewal service in the tropics) but this year, the couple plans to take things more seriously … by choosing to renew their wedding vows, again:

Renewing one’s wedding vows is typically a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey prefer to do it a little more frequently than that – like every year! “I encourage everybody to do it. If you are happy and in love, celebrate it!” Cannon, 29, said Friday on his New York radio show, confirming that he and his pop-star wife, 40, will renew their vows – for a second time – to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. “Don’t everybody do that?” the America’s Got Talent host asked. “Don’t, like, Heidi Klum and Seal do the same thing every year? It’s just something fun to celebrate. We renew our vows and exchange gifts.” Their anniversary is this Friday, but as of last week, the couple hadn’t settled on a final plan for this year’s celebration. They wed in 2008 on Carey’s Bahamian estate, but aren’t looking for an island getaway this time around. “We did that last year and the year before that, too,” says Cannon. “This year we want to do it like in a normal setting, so it might be in L.A. … Hey, I say we do it in a church in Brooklyn. That will be hot.” Cannon says his gift to Carey this year is “something very thoughtful and it has nothing to do with money.” And he adds: “We are just trying to keep the romance alive. That’s all.”

I am all for these two renewing their vows on a yearly basis. I have to admit, I never thought Mimi and Nick would make it to their first wedding anniversary and now they are about to celebrate their second — goes to show what I know. I have no doubt that these two are blissfully happy and deserve all the happiness in the world together. Much love and many congrats to the happy couple on their marriage vow renewal. Keep it fresh, keep celebrating your love and chances are you will live Happily Ever After. Who knew that Mr. & Mrs. Cannon held the secret to happily wedded bliss?

The 2010 Golden Globes Are Handed Out

Last night the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were handed out in rainy SoCal at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA … and, I gotta say, the show did a pretty fantastic job with spreading the wealth to many deserved winners. No one movie or TV show ran away with all the awards … Dexter was the only TV series to win 2 awards while Avatar, Crazy Heart and Up were the only movies to win 2 awards as well (with the former film taking home the biggest movie awards of the night). Here are a few pics from the rainy red carpet arrivals last night:


I am *amazed* that the organizers of the Golden Globe Awards this year did not plan for the rain. We knew all week long that it was going to rain yesterday … hell, it even started raining early enough in the day to give folks the head’s up that they might want to plan for a wet red carpet and yet … there was no planning involved. Everyone on the red carpet, celebs and reporters alike, were just meandering around like wet lost sheep. How dreadful. Many of the celebs had to scramble to find umbrellas and people to hold their umbrella’s for them … only Mariah Carey came prepared with her very own personal valet/husband Nick Cannon who is always at the ready to hold her umbrella for her whenever she needs him. Such a good boy.

But, the show did go off without a hitch. Ricky Gervais, IMHO, wasn’t that great of a host but he did a passable job I thought. And as I mentioned earlier, I was very pleased with many of winners last night — save for just a few winners I did NOT agree with at all. While there are mere hours left of 2009, I have one last Xmas ’09 tidbit to share with all y’all. Happily marrieds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon commissioned artist J. David McKenney to illustrate their Xmas card this year … which you can see below:

Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon have several holiday traditions, including spending Christmas in Aspen, Colorado and sending out a cartoon Christmas card to family and friends. Illustrated by J. David McKenney, this year’s card portrays the couple as a sexy version of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, surrounded by their four dogs J.J., Cha-Cha, Dolomite, and Jack. Last year, Mariah and Nick were also dressed as Mrs. and Mr. Claus on a reindeer-drawn sleigh filled with gifts.

Mariah Carey Does The Capri-Hollywood International Film Festival

Congratulations are in order for Mariah Carey who made her way to Capri, Italy this week to attend the 14th annual Capri-Hollywood International Film Festival in order to collect a Best Supporting Actress award for her work in the film Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire. News of this honor was reported by Variety earlier this month but the actual ceremony only took place in Capri, Italy last night. Here are a few photos of Mimi, decked out in her best finery, at the Capri-Hollywood International Film Festival last night:

Mariah Carey [received] the 14th annual Capri-Hollywood Film Festival’s award for this year’s Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Precious.” The film will also have its Italian premiere at the fest, which runs Dec. 27- Jan. 2 with its awards presented on Dec. 28. Past recipients of the Supporting Actor nod include Dennis Hopper (“Elegy”), Amy Ryan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Rinko Kikuci (“Babel”) and Matt Dillon (“Crash”). The Grammy-award winner also has an extensive acting career, which includes 1999′s “The Bachelor,” “Glitter” and “WiseGirls.”

Yay!! At last, with this award, all painful memories of her failure with Glitter can be completely washed away. I was very impressed with Mimi‘s performance in Precious even tho it was very short. I’m glad to see the film get any recognition cuz it truly is a great movie. I should point out that the dude manhandling Mariah Carey in the last two photos is not an overzealous security guard but is, in fact, her husband Nick Cannon. Were it not for him, she would’ve had to pay someone to hold her umbrella for her so it’s a good thing he came along to the film fest. Congrats on this award, again, MC … it was well-earned.

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Get Angelic For Hallowe’en

Happily marrieds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon decided to get dressed up in matching costumes for Hallowe’en while also doing a bit of promotion for Mimi‘s new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. As you can see, Mr. & Mrs. Cannon stepped out on the streets of NYC on All Hallow’s Eve as a pair of imperfect angels:


In all honesty, as far as matching couple costumes go … Mimi and Nick ain’t half bad. If Mariah hadn’t been trying to covertly promote her album, Nick might’ve gone the traditional way and dressed as a devil to Mariah‘s angel. They look cute tho … and if these get-ups result a few more album sales, then mission: accomplished!

‘Precious’ Premieres In NYC

Mariah Carey and her youngster of a husband Nick Cannon were among the folks who made their way to Alice Tully Hall in NYC, NY over the weekend for a special premiere screening of her new film Precious (which screened earlier this year at the Cannes International Film Festival) which was shown at The Film Society of Lincoln Center‘s 47th Annual New York Film Festival … here are a few photos of Mr. & Mrs. Cannon upon arrival at the premiere event and some deets about the night:


Mariah Carey arrived at Saturday night’s New York Film Festival screening of her movie Precious adorned with diamonds and a posse of security guards. But away from the glamorous hubbub, she’s just a regular girl at heart, say her costars. “If you’re around her enough, ‘Mariah’ goes away and she’s like everyone else,” says actress Gabourey Sidibe, who formed a close friendship with Carey on the set. “She’s just a normal girl who talks about normal things like fashion and things like that. She’s so nice.” In the film, opening nationally Nov. 6, Carey plays a plain-looking case-worker. For the role, the songstress, 40, bared her face in front of the camera free of makeup and donned dowdy outfits. “I basically told her, ‘I want to see the Mariah I see when I’m in your house and we’re kickin’ it, watching TV and eating popcorn,’ ” says director Lee Daniels, who also worked with Carey on the movie Tennessee. “Nothing at all [surprised me about Carey's performance]. I knew she had it in her. ” Based on the novel Push, the film tells the story of a pregnant, illiterate teen who tries to change her life by enrolling in an alternative school. Oprah Winfrey was so inspired by the film, she signed on as an executive producer after the shoot was completed. “She watched it and she went, ‘Whoa! This is something very, very special,’ ” Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, said at the screening. King, who’s now seen Precious four times, added, “The film is hard, sad and tragic. Oprah’s pulling out all the stops she can to make people go see it.”

Mimi + Oprah should = blockbuster hit! But I’m not totally sold just yet. I had to doubt Mariah Carey‘s acting prowess but if Glitter (or every single one of Madonna‘s films save for Evita) taught us anything it’s that popstars don’t always make the best actresses. There’s a belief in Hollywood that if beautiful women get ugly on screen, they’re headed for awards show acclaim. Now, I’m really not counting on Mariah winning any acting awards … but I do hope she does well in this film. It sounds like a great story … I’d love to see Mimi show the world that she can do more than sell hit records.

Mariah Carey Does ‘The Today Show’

My girl Mariah Carey, who just released her latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel this past Tuesday, performed live in Rockefeller Square on The Today Show earlier today and she did a pretty damn good job, if I say so myself. Mimi was still rockin’ her mid-90′s big hair look but the more I see it, the more it continues to grow on me. Here are a few photos from her performance earlier this morning:


As you can imagine, Mimi brought along her much younger hubby Nick Cannon and made sure to give him some sugar in between performances so that the folks in their general vicinity would know that they are still so much in lurve. Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Do ‘Elle’ Magazine

Mr. & Mrs. Cannon are featured in the new issue of Elle magazine but in all honesty, Mariah Carey is the focus of the piece. Mimi talks to Elle about her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and touches briefly on her marriage with Nick (who is only included in the Elle photoshoot incidentally). Here are pics of the happy couple frolicking together in their beachy photospread and Mariah‘s interview with Elle:


Mariah Carey has sold more than 160 million albums worldwide, and, if radio play for the first single on her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, is any indication, she’s on the verge of racking up more No. 1 hits than the Beatles. But underneath the pop varnish, Carey’s just a smitten newlywed in the middle of a home renovation, juggling a job and a new puppy. Sort of…

Congratulations on the album! Can you describe the new sound?
Each song is its own snapshot of a moment in a story. But overall, the vibe is R&B hip-hop with a lot of slow jams.

What kind of mood were you in when you wrote the album?
Each song has its own mood; some flow seamlessly into each other, and that was the purpose, and others are very different. The album has a sense of humor‹you can hear me laughing out loud at certain points‹but it also has deep and introspective moments.

Is there a track that holds special meaning for you?
Since I write almost all my songs, they all do. But a song like “The Impossible” is very much where my life is right now because I am actually in love for the first time.

Congratulations on celebrating your one-year wedding anniversary with Nick Cannon. How’s married life?
Amazing, better every day.

How do you two spend your free time?
We travel a lot. I think we’ve been to over 35 cities already.

Did Nick weigh in on the album?
We tend to do our own thing, but I did like sharing the process of this album with him, as we have the same taste in music and he’s a great DJ and loves music.
