First Listen: John Mayer Releases A New Song Titled ‘Paper Doll’ That May Or May Not Be About Taylor Swift

What's Good for the Goose ...
Everybody Prance Now

John Mayer is back and he’s got a new song that he wants to share with the world. Mayer‘s new single is titled Paper Doll and the just released lyric video for the song features that crazy lady Joanna Rohrback who rose to viral fame a few weeks ago as the Prancercise lady. While that, in and of itself, is kinda blogworthy and interesting, it’s the lyrics to the song that are getting all of the attention today. Taylor Swift famously wrote a song about John Mayer once upon a time … and it’s possible that this new song is a song about her. HMMM. ‘All Falls Down’ And 24 Other Reasons Why Kanye West IS A [Musical] God

Throwback Thursday Celebrates The Coming Of 'Yeezus'

Let me just preface this by saying Kanye West is absolutely one of my favorite rappers/musicians/artists/celebrities of all time. I have always been a fan, and never been a hater; I’ve always found his arrogance to be absolutely hilarious (and in some cases, warranted), mainly because I actually listen to his music and I get that he’s got a real sense of humor that everybody does not pick up on. I friggen love Kanye. I love him! I say all of that to say, just for this one post, Yeezy haters– begone! With his new album just days away we are celebrating the amazingness that is Throwback Kanye and if you don’t believe that Can’t Tell Me Nothing is one of the greatest hip-hop songs/any-genre songs of all time, then this post may not be for you. People may hate to hear him say it, but Kanye IS, IMO, a [musical] god and he can do whatever he wants! Click inside for 25 reasons why!!!

Listen: We Need To Discuss ‘Dirty Laundry,’ Kelly Rowland’s New Single About Domestic Abuse And Her Friendship With Beyoncé [UPDATE]

'When you make pain look this good it never wears out'

Yesterday Trent mentioned in Les News that Kelly Rowland released a new single titled Dirty Laundry… and we need to discuss it. Ummm. Here’s the thing about Dirty Laundry. It is everything. The song caught me off guard so hardcore, I had to turn my body away from my kids as I listend to it because I don’t believe in letting children see you cry… LMAO. OMG, I wanted sooo badly to listen to it again and again, but I couldn’t risk breaking down like that again. It was epic. If you haven’t heard the song, then please click inside and get your first listen on so we can talk about the amazingness that is Kelly Rowland and her ability to keep it completely and totally real.

First Listen: Drake’s New Song ‘Girls Love Beyoncé’ Is Pretty Awesome

Featuring James Fauntleroy... But Seriously. Can't Stop Listening.

Well. This is awkward. The last time I put a Drake song on repeat had to be when HYFR came out, and I had just signed off on the paperwork to become a full-time writer for PITNB. LMAO, OMG… but those were special circumstances! I’m not… really… a Drake fan… am I??? When he first came out I vowed to never, fully take him seriously as a rapper/singer/anything that wasn’t my beloved Jimmy on Degrassi. But something’s changed in me y’all. He is dropping these new songs all over the place and… I really like them. 5 AM In Toronto was my jam, even Started From The Bottom grew on me a bit.. and now there’s this new jam! Girls Love Beyoncé (featuring James Fauntleroy) is currently on repeat and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, lol! The song dropped a couple of days ago, but click inside for your first listen if you missed it (or your thousandth listen if you loved it).

Watch: The White House Had To Respond To Jay-Z’s New Song, ‘Open Letter’

That-Ish-Cray Of The Day
I guess nothing rhymes with 'Treasury.'

LMAOOOOoooooo. OMG. I don’t know where we are politically when official White House press conferences are taking the time to address new Jay-Z lyrics, but this is where we are, America. Yesterday, Jay-Z released a new song titled Open Letter in which he addressed (among other things) his recent trip to Cuba with Beyoncé. Please, please, please watch this video and listen to this reporter quote the lyrics (OMG, some people should never be allowed to quote Jay-Z lyrics in a public forum), and ask White House press secretary Jay Carney whether or not it was true that President Obama gave Jigga permission to go to Cuba. I just can’t with this, ya’ll. I can’t! Is she serious? Jay-Z is such a big deal now, and people are so impressed with his relationship with the President that anything he says about Obama in a song is, from this point on, taken seriously? That is awesome; at least for Jay-Z. For our political state of affairs, it’s kinda sad that these are the things they’re talking about. Madness.

Lupe Fiasco And Talib Kweli Engage In An Awesome Twitter Debate On The Effects Of Negative Rap Lyrics

'name one other form of mainstream MUSIC that CONSTANTLY pushes violence and death?'

Sigh, I love a good debate! And this one is even more fun because each debater was limited to 40 characters per argument, lol. Lupe Fiasco has been known to inspire some pretty intense hip-hop related thoughts on Twitter. He had Kanye West re-thinking the word bitch a while back and he recently got into it (in a friendly, intellectual way) with fellow rapper Talib Kweli. Lupe‘s been using his Twitter account recently to address violence in pop culture and hip-hop, and Talib joined in on the discussion as well. Click inside to learn more.

First Listen: Azealia Banks Releases Her New Single ‘Yung Rapunxel’

"Who’s Cooler Than This Witch?"

Last week we got our first look at the cover art for Azealia Banks‘s new single Yung Rapunxel, which is the first from her upcoming debut album Broke With Expensive Taste (due out later this year … sometime … I think). Today we get to hear the track in full. Azealia released the single on her official Twitter profile earlier today giving us a taste of what’s to come when she finally releases her first full-length album. Miss Banks has been generating a lot of buzz with the singles and mixtapes she’s been releasing herself over the past couple of years (and has garnered attention for the Internet antics and social media feuds she’s gotten mixed up in) but this is our first taste of what her serious music career may sound like. Click below, take a listen. More »

Watch: Justin Timberlake Performs ‘Suit & Tie’ And ‘Mirrors’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Plus He Gives A Little Shouts-Out To Kanye... LOL
'My hits so sick got rappers acting dramatic'

So last night Justin Timberlake hosted Saturday Night Live and officially joined the SNL Five-Timer’s Club. We’ll check out some of the skits from the episode in a little bit, but I had to get this video up of him performing Suit & Tie with Jay-Z (who looked adorable, BTW). JT totally, not-so-subtly responded to Kanye West‘s diss of the new song. Y’all remember Kanye came out a while back and said he wasn’t feelin’ the Suit & Tie movement (and many of us saw where he was coming from, as an artist), so JT responded by changing some of the lyrics in his second verse. Instead of Sh-t so sick/Got a hit and picked up a habit, he sings My hits so sick/Got rappers acting dramatic. LMAO. Awwww shizz! The beef is officially on y’all, lol! And now, we are forced to choose sides. Sigh. Well, y’all should already know I’m on Team Yeezy, even though I do like JT‘s new singles. Peep the video above for more and click inside to check out Justin‘s performance of Mirrors.
