Jennifer Love Hewitt Discusses Her Break-Up With Jamie Kennedy

Also promotes the release of her new book

Jennifer Love Hewitt is on the promo trail to hype up support for her new book The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I’m a Love-aholic. Because she is opening herself up to the press, she must answer the inevitable questions surrounding her recent break-up with her boyfriend of a year Jamie Kennedy. J. Love spoke with USA Today about her break-up, here are excerpts from her interview:

Q: Your book is coming out at the same time that the breakup of your year-long relationship with Kennedy is in the news. What’s that like?
A: It’s not the ideal situation, but the thing I’m really happy about is that I never say in the book that I know how to find perfect love or how to be in the perfect relationship. I’m thrust back into the dating world as the book is coming out, so I feel more than ever that people will know I’m kind of with them in the trenches.

Q: Is it hard still having to work with him on the show? (Kennedy plays a professor who can hear but not see ghosts.)
A: It’s fine. Everyone’s a grown-up. It just is what it is.

Q: How does it feel to be single again?
A: It’s what life handed me, and I’m OK with it. I know wholeheartedly that I’m a really good partner. I think I’m a really good girlfriend, and I think that I could be a really good wife. I know that I love being able to give my love out to someone. I know there is somebody great out there for me.

The rest of the USA Today interview, which you can read HERE, goes on to discuss her book (which is wholly uninteresting to me but may be to some of you). I’m not sure I’m totally on board with J. Love‘s claim that she is “a really good partner” but, then again, what else is she gonna say? I just feel bad for Jamie … it must be really hard for him to deal with a break-up that comes attached to a promo tour for his ex-girlfriend’s book on relationships. J. Love was lookin’ all smiles and happy as can be at a book launch party at Avenue in NYC last night. After the jump, check out a couple photos from last night’s event … More »

Bryan Singer Talks To The LA Times About The Next X-Men Movie

'First Class'

Last December we learned that director Bryan Singer signed on to helm the next X-Men movie, a prequel to the franchise called X-Men: First Class. Today we get to check out a few excerpts from a new interview that Singer gave to The Los Angeles Times about the new project. Here is a photo of Singer with producing partner Lauren Shuler Donner and some of their LA Times interview:

Through the years, comic-book films took audiences to all the predictable places, including the grim streets of Gotham City and the doomed spires of planet Krypton, but, a decade ago, a new type of comic-book film had the audacity to set its opening sequence in a truly unexpected place — the gates of Auschwitz, where Jewish families were bring marched through mud on their way to death and despair. From those first moments, “X-Men” set itself apart from the entire Hollywood history of comic-book adaptations and marked the beginning of this current era of fanboy cinema, which has dominated the box office and elevated San Diego’s Comic-Con International into something resembling a Cannes for capes. “The opening, it really was a declaration of intent,” producer Lauren Shuler Donner said of that sequence, which showed a terrified young boy exhibiting mutant powers as his family was separated by German guards. “It said to the audience this is a serious film, grounded in the realistic and the historic and somewhat dark. It was so smart. And it was all totally Bryan.” That would be Bryan Singer, the director of “X-Men” and its first sequel, who was sitting next to Shuler Donner in her office on a recent afternoon. The pair both had big smiles on their faces — they had been reunited by an invitation to reminisce about the legacy of the July 2000 release, which they were happy to do, but the conversation kept veering into giddy plans for the future. Singer is returning to the “X-Men” universe, it’s clear now, for a project called “X-Men: First Class”; it’s all just a matter of timing. “I had lunch with Hugh Jackman today,” Singer said, and Shuler Donner, after asking for an off-the-record moment, pressed the 44-year-old filmmaker for details. A few minutes later, with the recorder back on, Singer said he is mightily enthused to work again with Shuler Donner, who has produced two X-films without him, the Brett Ratner-directed “X-Men: The Last Stand” in 2006 and the Gavin Hood-directed “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in 2009. “I genuinely like the people, and my personality meshes more with this universe than it does with other universes, I think; I see that now at this point,” Singer said, no doubt referring to his defection to the DC Comics universe to make the oddly lifeless 2006 movie “Superman Returns.” “I feel a connection to the X-Men characters and also the ensemble nature of the films. If you look at ‘Usual Suspects” or my last film, ‘Valkyrie,’ I feel especially comfortable with ensemble juggling. In the space between all the characters you can disguise a central thought that’s hidden in all the discourse. I missed that with the singular relationship story of Superman. And, well, it always gives you something to cut to…”

This fairly extensive interview with the LA Times continues behind the cut. Read on to get a taste of what Singer has in store for X-Men fans in the upcoming prequel film First Class — after the jump … More »

Tiger Woods Talks To ESPN & The Golf Channel

Answers tough questions with carefully prepared responses

To prepare for his upcoming return to professional golf, Tiger Woods agreed to participate in two different interviews over the weekend on two different sports television networks to answer, one on one, some of the tougher questions that he has yet to answer personally (his first interviews since his public apology in February). It is my opinion that these interviews (which were limited to just 5 minutes each) were very well orchestrated and that he was fully prepared to answer every questions posed to him (tho, there were some questions that he would refuse to answer entirely) … in an effort to appear to the public (and his fans in particular) as if he is doing everything he can to get back in their good graces. It is also my opinion that the decision to participate in these two interviews is a stroke of genius by his PR team:

Love cheat Tiger Woods wants fans to clap him when he makes his golfing comeback next month, he said in his first TV interview since the sex scandal erupted. The shamed billionaire, who agreed answer any questions but restricted the chat to five minutes, also admitted he had been ‘living a lie’. The recording – just a month after his public apology for having at least 12 affairs – is seen as a calculated public relations drive to ease him back into the public eye as he prepares for the major tournament. And the married father of two told how he is nervous about returning to the U.S. Masters. Woods, 34, who has had two spells in sex rehab since November after crashing his car outside his Florida mansion, said: ‘I hurt so many people by my own reckless attitude and behaviour. I tried to stop and couldn’t stop. Talking to TV’s Golf Channel and ESPN, he revealed he was unsure about the reception he would get from fans when he plays at the U.S. Masters on April 8. ‘I’m a little nervous about that to be honest with you,’ he said. ‘It would be nice to hear a couple claps here and there. But also hope they clap for birdies, too.’ Woods also denied that his wife Elin Nordegren had attacked him on the night of the crash on November 27, 2009, after finding out about one of his affairs, adding: ‘Well, it’s all in the police report. Beyond that, everything’s between Elin and myself and that’s private.’ Asked why he lost control of the car, Woods replied: ‘As I said … that’s between Elin and myself.’ A string of women – including a porn actress and cocktail waitress – have come forward and claimed they had relationships with the golfer. He did not discuss details about his affairs but said that ‘just one is enough and obviously that wasn’t the case’. He also talked of the ‘brutal’ moments when he levelled with Elin. He said she was, ‘Hurt. Very hurt. Shocked. Angry. And, you know, she had every right to be and I’m as disappointed as everyone else in my own behaviour because I can’t believe I actually did that to the people I loved.’ Woods agreed to speak with a reporter from the U.S. sports channel ESPN sports and did not place any restrictions on questions that were asked. His only stipulation for the interview, which was carried out at the luxury Isleworth complex, near Orlando, Florida, was that it would last no longer than five minutes … Woods, who has been in therapy for nearly half of the past four months, said of his eagerly awaited return: ‘I’m excited to get back and play. I’m excited to get to see the guys again. ‘I really miss a lot of my friends out there. I miss competing. But still, I still have a lot more treatment to do, and just because I’m playing, doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop going to treatment.’ The sportsman – famed for his privacy – conceded the world knew him ‘a lot better now’. ‘I was living a life of a lie,’ he said. ‘I really was. And I was doing a lot of things, like I said, that hurt a lot of people. And stripping away denial and rationalisation you start coming to the truth of who you really are and that can be very ugly. But then again, when you face it and you start conquering it and you start living up to it. The strength that I feel now, I’ve never felt that type of strength.’ Woods’s last tournament appearance was on November 15, 2009 – when he won the Australian Masters.

While I personally was not impressed with either of these interviews, I absolutely think they will work to his advantage with his target audience … golf fans. He continues to do everything right … he’s already publicly apologized, he’s got his wife back on board with him and now he is giving the appearance of approachability to the press. After he makes his official return to professional golf next month, his plan will be nearly complete. At this point, he’s biting the bullet … doing what he has to do to make his Cheating Scandal a thing of the past. Sam Worthington Does ‘Details’ Magazine

"I’m still a very boisterous young man"

Aussie hunk Sam Worthington, who starred in Avatar and will portray Greek hero Perseus in the upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine. This coverstory is timed perfectly with the release of his new film, due out next month, and gives the US audience a better understanding of this boy from Oz:

On finding interviews excruciating: I’m still a very boisterous young man. And I swear a bit more than I should. So I’m learning to temper it, you know?”

On his standard-issue Aussie boyhood: “I’m not a great fan of people who say they put a sheet up in the backyard when they were 7 and entertained all the neighbors. When I was 7, I thought I was a fucking fire truck.”

On why he loves living in hotel rooms: “”I like room service. They put a chocolate on my pillow. It’s kinda cool.”

On his work ethic: “”Well, I demand a lot,” he says, then backtracks, not wanting to position himself as some kind of diva. “I demand excellence in myself. I’m up front and quite outspoken, but I’ll give you everything.”

This Details coverstory does give the reader a better sense of Sam Worthington, the man, but the info comes primarily from the people he’s worked with. The primary focus of the piece is on what others (like James Cameron, McG, Zoe Saldana and more) think of him rather than from responses he gives to the interviewer. It’s a great read. The mag also comes with a batch of really great photos, too. After the jump, check out a few of them … More »

Shannen Doherty Does ‘Lopez Tonight’

"I have a tremendous fear of live audiences"

Shannen Doherty, former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed and NEW castmember on the 10th season of Dancing with the Stars, was a guest on Lopez Tonight last week wherein she appeared to promote the upcoming season of DWTS. For some strange reason, I totally missed seeing her on the show the night it aired but finally got to see her interview online this weekend … and what a great interview it was!

Shannen explains in this interview why she decided to finally agree to appear on Dancing with the Stars … and it’s a heartfelt story that really shows what a sweetheart she truly is underneath that tough exterior. Shannen revealed that her father suffered his 9th stroke that left him almost totally incapacitated. Because he is such a fan of the show, she decided to appear on the show to inspire her father to work towards recovery. By her attempt to conquer her fear of public audiences, she hopes to inspire her father to work especially hard to recover from his latest stroke. It’s a very sweet story, one I think y’all need to hear for yourselves. After the jump, check out Shannen‘s interview on Lopez Tonight in full … More »

Whitney Houston Talks Up Her ‘Nothing But Love’ World Tour

The Diva speaks

A new 10-minute long interview video with Whitney Houston has made its way to the Internets and in this sit down, she talks at length about her Nothing But Love World Tour (which recently WOWed fans in Australia) and other various topics. Among the other topics she discusses, Whitney chimes in on the state of pop music these days where young artists feel they have to resort to wearing “Hallowe’en costumes” to get a little attention … a practice, she feels is totally unnecessary:

In an interview talking about her “Nothing But Love” tour, Whitney Houston opted to share her insight about today’s pop stars. And, she made it clear that she is not a fan of artists who put on “Halloween costumes” on their shows. “There are some extremely gifted and talented young women and young men out there who don’t have to really put on Halloween costumes, just be themselves,” she gushed. “A little extravagance, a little flair, a little sexiness or a sultriness is cool, but some of them are very dark. … To me, it’s not becoming.” Whitney Houston will resume the tour in support of her comeback album “I Look to You” on April 8 at MEN Arena in Manchester. The last stop, meanwhile, will take place on May 29 at SAP Arena in Mannheim.

You go girl! I’m so with you on this point, Whit. I’m so not impressed with “artists” who feel that style (and I use the term very loosely) should surpass substance. Wearing all kinds of gaudy crap just to look “different” is neither intriguing nor interesting to me. Clearly, my dear Whitney — DIVA SUPREME — agrees. Gerard Butler Does ‘Men’s Journal’ Magazine

"I'm not a big relationship guy."

Cheeky cad du jour, Gerard Butler, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Men’s Journal magazine. In his coverstory interview, Gerry intimates that he doesn’t get as much tail as he used to and makes a joke about trimming Jennifer Aniston‘s bush … natch. Here is our first look at Gerard‘s Men’s Journal coverphoto and some excerpts from his accompanying interview:

On getting laid: “I think I get laid less now than I used to, because I’m way more paranoid now – look at fucking Tiger Woods! I mean, I’m nowhere near as naughty as I used to be, partly because I did a lot of that when I was drinking.”

On his commitment problems: “In the last five years since coming out here, I’ve had two relationships. I’m not a big relationship guy. One of my vices is, I’m too wrapped up in myself and not always in a good way.”

On holiday fun with Jennifer Aniston: “Over Christmas she had a tree-trimming party that I went to. Yeah, I trimmed her bush… Shit. Please don’t put that in.”

On his anxiety addiction: “I was born into a world of anxiety… I am slightly addicted to anxiety. When I’m feeling anxious, I’ll create more anxiety for myself. Like I might call all these people about what’s fun to do tonight and end up with four different options, which in itself would put me into a blind panic; but then I’ll make another four calls just to make it 10 times more anxiety-ridden.”

I can’t say that I have much respect for a man that idolizes Tiger Woods‘s cheating ways … but I guess I have to give him props for the Aniston bush joke ;) I wonder if Gerard Butler keeps talking about Jennifer Aniston in interviews he’ll pull a John Mayer and piss her off entirely too … he strikes me as the kind of guy who is about 2 beers from kissing and telling all. I can’t say I’m too interested to read this whole interview in Men’s Journal … this taste is enough for me.

Jesus Luz Talks To The Daily Beast

"So I [date] older women. With more maturity."

Jesus Luz, Madonna‘s 23-year old toy boy du jour, sat down for a little interview with the website The Daily Beast to talk about his charmed life … paying careful attention to NOT talk at all about his much-older ladyfriend Madonna. Considering how little he shared with Interview magazine back in January, this interview is a BOON of information about what makes Jesus tick. Interested? Read on …

He should have looked like a man who’d won the jackpot. But under his glittery top hat, Jesus Pinto da Luz just looked bemused. The 23-year-old Rio de Janeiro native was standing next to his girlfriend Madonna—at 51, more than twice his age—in the most exclusive VIP box at February’s Rio Carnival, cradling her adopted Malawian daughter Mercy James in his arms. Beside him was the state governor, the city’s mayor, and President Lula’s candidate to succeed him, Dilma Rousseff. Beneath him, photographers and adoring fans. Perhaps the bounce from nobody to celebrity had suddenly hit home. Just a little over a year earlier, Jesus was a struggling model living with his grandmother in the nondescript Rio neighborhood of Glória. He went out when he could afford to and ran on the beach. He didn’t even own a car. Then one day, the most famous female pop singer who ever lived took a shine to him, and suddenly his face (and his body) were in nearly every tabloid in the world. That’s the game of celebrity pinball—one whack of the flipper, and you’re pinged into the realm of the superstars. “Many times I asked God why he has given me so much,” Jesus tells The Daily Beast. “Maybe because of something I’m going to do, something I did in a past life, I don’t know. I think you discover this living.” The compact, muscled young man who walks into a Rio disco one hot afternoon is studiously polite, and arrives without security, paparazzi or attitude. We talk in Portuguese. “It would be really easy, with all this attention, to think I was better than someone else,” he says in a heavy Rio accent. “So it’s really good that my friends say, ‘Dude, you are still a cool guy, humble.’ I’m still the same person.”

HMMM … while I have my serious doubts that Mr. Luz is “still the same person”, I can appreciate that he may be trying to stay as normal as possible … considering he is dating one of the most famous women in the world. The full interview with Jesus can be read at The Daily Beast HERE. As I said, it’s an interesting read if you’re lookin’ to find out more about the man himself. I’m not sure if there are many Jesus fans out there but mebbe reading this interview will make you one.

Tina Fey Does ‘Esquire’ Magazine

"I have no plans to do [Twitter]. I'll just stick with my 24/7 webcam."

Funny woman Tina Fey is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Esquire magazine. While Tina is lookin’ sexy as hell on the cover, she’s lookin’ very much the funny girl in her accompanying photospread. Here is our first look at Tina‘s Esquire coverphoto and some excerpts from her interview:

The best doughnut? That’s Peter Pan doughnuts in Brooklyn. It’s a Polish bakery. We shot nearby once for 30 Rock. It’s a white-cream-filled powdered doughnut. And I really believe, when I first tried it, if I had a penis, I would put it in this doughnut. I finally understand what you guys are thinking about and what motivates you guys.

My four-year-old daughter has a pretend hair-and-nail salon, and I was doing her hair and makeup. I said, “Hello ma’am. What’s your name? And what do you do?” And she said, “I get paid to dance at parties.” And I said, “Oh, no. That’s a terrible, terrible answer.”

She says she looks like Barack Obama. I think she heard so many people at that time saying I looked like Sarah Palin, I think she was just trying to get in on that. “I look like Barack Obama.” Okay. Sure.

Twitter seems like a busman’s holiday: just more writing. I have no plans to do it. I’ll just stick with my 24/7 webcam. I’m old-fashioned that way.

Plots we would not do on 30 Rock? Let me put the Internet at ease: Liz and Jack will never be together. Not even if we go fifteen seasons. Okay, if we get to season fifteen, they’ll do it.

I think my level of fame will drop back down. I think it’ll recede. In fact, I know it will. That’s life on planet earth. And I’m okay with that. Besides getting tables at restaurants and special treatment at the airport, what else is there?

After the jump, check out a few photos from Tina‘s photoshoot and read some more excerpts from her Esquire coverstory interview … More »
