"That's the weirdest microphone I ever saw in my life."
Johnny Depp was a presenter at the Hollywood Film Awards in LA, CA last night and as you can see in the video embedded above, homeboy appeared to be a HOT MESS when he took to the stage to introduce the Documentary category. Depp very clearly had to slur his way through his speech and damn near fell over a time or two. It looks to me like Johnny probably had a few too many cocktails in the green room before he went on stage in front of the audience … and multiple cameras. At least he managed to get through his introduction, for the most part, which proves that even as a drunk ass mess, Johnny Depp can still do his job.
Happy, Happy Day
Yesterday, as you should be well aware, was Britney Day in the city of Las Vegas, NV and as such, our dear Britney Spears was honored with the pomp and circumstance that she deserves. In front of a sea of fans, some of them also named Britney, Spears was honored with a key to the city of Las Vegas in a lavish ceremony. Britney also used the opportunity to announce a new business venture and a new set of Britney: Piece of Me performances set to take place next year. Britney Day was a day that will go down in history as the most Britney Spears Day EVER! More »
"Darkness has been my energy"
Musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were on hand at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios yesterday to participate in the keynote Q&A at the Film + TV Music Conference hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard magazine yesterday to discuss the film composing they have done with director David Fincher, with the focus specifically on their recent project Gone Girl. I’ve been lucky enough to hear TR speak about music and composition before so I knew the Q&A would be spectacular. This was the first time that I got to hear Atticus Ross speak at length at one of these events so it, truly, was a great keynote. The video embedded above features highlights from the Q&A that was moderated by music journalist Shirley Halperin of Billboard magazine and it gives a great feel for the whole hour-long event, synthesized into an 8-minute video. The Q&A was livestreamed so if you missed watching it live yesterday, you can check out this video and see the greatest hits from the discussion.
While celebs are having fun here in SoCal at various pumpkin patches around town, NYC is getting in on the pumpkin patch fun with a new pop-up pumpkin patch that is themed around the Fox TV series Sleepy Hollow. To promote the pumpkin patch at NYC Greenmarket, Sleepy Hollow actors Tom Mison and John Noble were joined by the Headless Horsemen today for a press photo op that looked really fun. I can’t say that I’m loving Tom Mison in these photos as much as I do on the show (with his long hair wig) but he deffo looks good nonetheless. This looks like fun, I hope you New Yorkers are able to get out and partake in the fun this Hallowe’en.
I have very exciting news to share with you guys today. My very good friend Jeremy Kost is hosting a book signing of his new photography book Fractured at Bookmarc in West Hollywood, CA on Friday and you MUST come out and meet him (folks in NYC can attend Jeremy‘s book signing at Bookmarc at 400 Bleecker St. on October 21). I’ve known Jeremy for years but I’ve been a fan of his Polaroid photography for much longer. He is truly one of my favorite photographic artists and I’m so excited for the release of his new book Fractured. Large scale prints of some of Jeremy‘s images are currently on display at the CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION in NYC (654 Madison Avenue) until October 27 where a very limited edition of Fractured is being sold. The large scale prints on display at the Calvin Klein Collection are up for auction HERE to partially benefit ACRIA, in conjunction with Paddle 8, in their fight to help those living with HIV/AIDS. Yes, my friend is amazing. Jeremy is graciously sharing the photos featured in the gallery presented here to give you a taste of his work. If you like what you see, you can come out and buy a copy of Fractured and meet Jeremy Kost at his book signing this Friday:
The images shared here are available in the artist’s edition of Fractured
which comes with an actual Polaroid
photo of your choice (details HERE
gave me a large size Polaroid
print as a housewarming gift when I moved to LA all those years ago and it has hung in my various homes ever since. He is a very talented photographer and I hope you can come out and meet the man in person. Hopefully I’ll see you at the book signing on Friday!

"The word that I would like to eradicate today is 'Unspeakable'"
Viola Davis, the star of the new ABC drama How To Get Away With Murder, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Variety and this week was given special recognition at the magazine’s Power of Women luncheon here in Hollywood. Viola delivered a powerful speech in support of the Hunger Is initiative where she opened up about her own impoverished childhood. Click the video embed above to hear Viola‘s speech in full (trust me, it is worth your time) and then click below to see Davis on the cover of this week’s issue of Variety and learn a bit more about the Hunger Is initiative. The Flawless Tour Continues
Britney Spears, not content with blessing only NYC, London, Warsaw and Oberhausen, made her way to Copenhagen, Denmark for another launch even for her lingerie line The Intimate Collection by Britney Spears. This time around, there was a fashion show with runway … and Britney came out for a turn on the runway at the end like an actual designer. I love it!! Click thru the gallery to see all the fun photos from Denmark then click below to see the CUTEST photo that she just posted on Instagram. More »
Nice bob, Brit
Thus far, our dear Britney Spears has made in-person appearances in NYC, NY, London, England and Warsaw, Poland to launch the sale of her new lingerie line called The Intimate Collection. Earlier today, Britney made another in-person appearance, this time in Oberhausen, Germany and as you can see she also debuted a cute new shorter hair’do. Because of Britney‘s love of wigs, I’m not sure if this is her actual hair or just another wig … but no matter, the bob cut looks insanely cute on her! I’m loving the white outfit, the hair and, of course, the facial expressions. This has been Britney‘s most successful world tour in ages. I can’t wait to see where she pops up next!
The 'Intimate' Tour
Yesterday we saw photos of our dear Britney Spears at a launch event in London, England for her new lingerie line The Intimate Collection and today we learn that Britney has made her way to Warsaw, Poland for a second European launch event. I can’t say that Poland would be a country that I would guess might be interested in Britney‘s lingerie line but they are very lucky to have her. As you can see in this gallery of photos, Brit Brit looked great at today’s event … and yes, her facial expressions were everything. This may not be the world tour that many of her fans were hoping for but beggars can’t be choosers. I love her!
This is HalloweenTime
Composer/genius Danny Elfman made a special appearance in front of The Haunted Mansion in the Disneyland Resort recently to record a special reading from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. The reading was done to promote two upcoming concerts in LA at the Nokia Theater on October 31 and November 1 where Elfman will perform music from various Tim Burton films (including The Nightmare Before Christmas). Because we couldn’t be there to see Danny do this reading in person, the folks at Disney have graciously shared video for our viewing pleasure. It may not be Hallowe’en just yet but HalloweenTime is in full swing at the Disney parks so this video should be a great way to get you in the mood. Please enjoy.
