So happy together?
Back in November we learned that Frances Bean Cobain, the only daughter of the late Kurt Cobain and still alive and kicking Courtney Love, was executive producing a new documentary film about her father titled Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. Yesterday, at the Sundance Film Festival, Montage of Heck was world premiered … and Frances Bean was reunited at the event with her estranged mother. For the most part, it looked like everyone was all smiles for the event … in a seeming show that hatchets have been buried and all is well betwixt Frances and Courtney again. More »
Hopefully we'll be hearing it soon
Kanye West was a featured speaker at the iHeartMedia Music Summit at the iHeartRadio Theatre in Burbank, CA last night to discuss his love of radio (“Of course I want to be on the radio!“) even though he previously said that he hated radio. He was also on hand to unveil a new song he recorded with Rihanna, a song that he may release to the rest of us soon. As far as Kanye West appearances go, it sounds like last night’s appearance at the iHeartMedia event went pretty smoothly … which, I have to admit, is kinda boring for Kanye West. More »

"Have you mentored, supported or engaged women in leadership positions?"
Last September, Emma Watson delivered a powerful speech on the virtues of feminism at the United Nations — a speech that garnered lots of attention not only because of Emma‘s fame as an actress but, more importantly, because the speech she delivered spoke to the hearts and minds of women and men (young and old) worldwide. Earlier today, at the World Economic Forum at Davos in Switzerland, Emma delivered a follow-up speech that, in part, featured questions that have sprung up in the wake of her previous speech:
I spoke about some of my story in September – what are your stories? Girls: Who have been your mentors, parents, did you make sure you treated your children equally? If so, how have you done it? Husbands: Have you been supporting your female partner privately so that she can fulfill her dreams too? Young men: Have you spoke up in a conversation when a woman was casually degraded or dismissed? … Businessmen: Have you mentored, supported or engaged women in leadership positions? Writers: Have you challenged the language and imagery used to portray women in the media? CEOs: Have you implemented the women’s empowerment principles in your own company?
The video embedded above of Emma‘s speech today is only 5 1/2 minutes long and is absolutely worth your time. Emma Watson continues to devote her time, her energy and her impressive intelligence and eloquence in an effort to educate and enlighten on feminist matters. She is an inspiration with a voice that deserves to be heard far and wide.
Daniel Craig is joined by Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and more
Earlier this week, we were alerted to the fact that a major worldwide press announcement would be made today about the forthcoming 24th James Bond film, the first since 2012′s hugely successful Bond film Skyfall. A few hours ago, it was formally announced that the next Bond film has been titled Spectre and will star Daniel Craig as 007 alongside Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott and Monica Bellucci. Spectre, as you bond fans may know, is the name of the fictional terrorist organization whose name is an acronym for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion (think Marvel Comics‘s S.H.I.E.L.D. nemesis HYDRA). Clearly, the next James Bond film will be focused on the baddies. Sounds good, no? The HFAs were such a MESS
Earlier today we saw video of Johnny Depp seemingly drunkenly slurring his way through an introduction on stage at the Hollywood Film Awards last night and we learned that Jennifer Lopez had to laugh her way through her messy HFAs intro as well. Right now, we learn that actress Kristen Stewart suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her nipple slipped out from in between the holes in her top, flashing everyone in sight at the HFAs last night. Whoops!! More »

"That's the weirdest microphone I ever saw in my life."
Johnny Depp was a presenter at the Hollywood Film Awards in LA, CA last night and as you can see in the video embedded above, homeboy appeared to be a HOT MESS when he took to the stage to introduce the Documentary category. Depp very clearly had to slur his way through his speech and damn near fell over a time or two. It looks to me like Johnny probably had a few too many cocktails in the green room before he went on stage in front of the audience … and multiple cameras. At least he managed to get through his introduction, for the most part, which proves that even as a drunk ass mess, Johnny Depp can still do his job.
Happy, Happy Day
Yesterday, as you should be well aware, was Britney Day in the city of Las Vegas, NV and as such, our dear Britney Spears was honored with the pomp and circumstance that she deserves. In front of a sea of fans, some of them also named Britney, Spears was honored with a key to the city of Las Vegas in a lavish ceremony. Britney also used the opportunity to announce a new business venture and a new set of Britney: Piece of Me performances set to take place next year. Britney Day was a day that will go down in history as the most Britney Spears Day EVER! More »
"Darkness has been my energy"
Musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were on hand at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios yesterday to participate in the keynote Q&A at the Film + TV Music Conference hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard magazine yesterday to discuss the film composing they have done with director David Fincher, with the focus specifically on their recent project Gone Girl. I’ve been lucky enough to hear TR speak about music and composition before so I knew the Q&A would be spectacular. This was the first time that I got to hear Atticus Ross speak at length at one of these events so it, truly, was a great keynote. The video embedded above features highlights from the Q&A that was moderated by music journalist Shirley Halperin of Billboard magazine and it gives a great feel for the whole hour-long event, synthesized into an 8-minute video. The Q&A was livestreamed so if you missed watching it live yesterday, you can check out this video and see the greatest hits from the discussion.
While celebs are having fun here in SoCal at various pumpkin patches around town, NYC is getting in on the pumpkin patch fun with a new pop-up pumpkin patch that is themed around the Fox TV series Sleepy Hollow. To promote the pumpkin patch at NYC Greenmarket, Sleepy Hollow actors Tom Mison and John Noble were joined by the Headless Horsemen today for a press photo op that looked really fun. I can’t say that I’m loving Tom Mison in these photos as much as I do on the show (with his long hair wig) but he deffo looks good nonetheless. This looks like fun, I hope you New Yorkers are able to get out and partake in the fun this Hallowe’en.
