It’s been a year since Mandy Moore split with musician hubby Ryan Adams. The two, who had recorded a duet together, were married for six years, but were rumored to have lived apart toward the end of their marriage. We were sad for Mandy, but it appears we don’t have to be sad any longer! The Red Band Society star recently posted a slew of winter vacation photos on Instagram, featuring her new boyfriend Taylor Goldsmith. Taylor is cute, and he’s the lead singer of the pretty sweet band Dawes. Clearly, Mandy has a type.
While E! reported the news of the two stepping out together in October, it’s clear now that things are quite official. More »
When you think about it, what would really happen if you were left at home for the holidays as a little kid, and then tormented by two thieves? You’d probably be traumatized for the rest of your life, if not for years after. In actuality Home Alone would have made a great horror film. Well the new web series, :DRYVRS isn’t horror, but the episode “Just Me In The House By Myself,” gives Home Alone a whole new, darker spin.
The series is about a character named Jack Dishel and all the drivers he meets through a ride-sharing app (inspired by Uber and Lyft). In the first episode, Macaulay Culkin plays his Home Alone character as a skittish adult who can’t drive, and ends up re-telling Jack that famous story of his childhood. More »
Just in time for Halloween! There have been a lot of artists creating new spins on the classic Disney Princesses, including Joel Santana’s tatooed pinup versions, and T.T. Brett’s princesses imagined as a difference race. No one has gotten as gory as makeup artist Shonagh Scott, though, who used some of her amazing special effects makeup skills for her “Happily Never After” series. In the series, Scott imaged the princesses as victims of their own tales. For instance, Princess Ariel’s vocal chords look like they’ve been ripped out by Ursula, and Cinderella’s famous glass slipper is coming out of her cheek. More »
Ho Ho Horror!
Last night, before my showing of The Visit at the Arclight theater in Hollywood, I got to see the first trailer for the forthcoming holiday horror film Krampus, based on the ancient tale of the demonic anti-Santa Claus who punishes bad children at Xmas time. I’ve only known the story as a cautionary tale, one meant to inspire fear and terror in the reader. As you can see above, this movie adaptation of the Krampus story looks like it has some scary elements in it … but it mostly looks like a comedy. I’m not quite sure I’m interested in a Krampus story that is treated as a dark comedy but I guess the studio had other plans. This looks to me more like a Gremlins II sort of movie … one that I think I have to see but know going in that I’m probably going to hate it. I’m a bit bummed that this Krampus movie doesn’t appear to be going for straight horror of the blood and guts variety so … I dunno, I’m not really excited at all. Check out the trailer above and see what you think? Are you Krampus fans pleased by what you see here?

The Queen of Xmas strikes again
As August draws to a close, the time has come to start talking about … Xmas? It seems like the impact of Xmas starts earlier and earlier with each passing year, which is why it’s no surprise that today we learn that Mariah Carey will be releasing her first children’s book this holiday season. Mimi has partnered with Random House publishing to adapt her hugely successful holiday song All I Want For Christmas Is You into a picture book for children. As you will learn below, this children’s book uses the lyrics to Mariah‘s song to tell the story of a little girl (who looks like a cartoon version of MC) who hopes to get a puppy for Xmas. Yes, it is as cute as it sounds. Click below and see for yourselves. More »
Rihanna is in her native Barbados this week to participate in the Carnival festivities going on there this week and she was very happy to share her fun with her followers on Instagram last night. Ri Ri uploaded a varied collection of personal photos on her official Instagram profile that shows off every inch of the feathered and bedazzled costume that she wore to the affair. As you can see below, some of the photos may be considered NSFW even tho Rihanna doesn’t really show any of her naughties (like Lenny Kravitz did in Sweden yesterday, accidentally) but her booty is on display so care should be taken as you click through this fun gallery. From the look of these photos, Rihanna had the time of her life with her friends at Barbados Carnival yesterday. Have a look and partake of her fun.

Who's ready for 'Mariah Carey's Christmas Project'?
Oh lord … and Mariah Carey was having such a great year so far. In the spring, Mariah kicked off her concert residency in Las Vegas, then she met and started dating a billionaire, then she was finally approved for her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. All of these things are great. Today, tho, we learn that MC is set to make her directorial debut with a Xmas movie that will be produced for the Hallmark Channel. Furthermore, Mimi will be co-starring in said made-for-TV movie … which has been given the apt title of Mariah Carey’s Christmas Project. This movie will go into production in October (!) and will be released in December (!!!!!!!!!). I mean … that’s not a lot of time for a first-time director to get their first movie right, is it? Yes, it’s can be a career boon for a singer/actress to direct her first project … but something like this? For the Hallmark Channel? Doesn’t this sound like it has “disaster” written all over it? It's all about Juneteenth
Oh, the 4th of July—you tricky, tricky holiday. I’ve said plenty of times before that growing up with parents who are also historians and professors of African and African-American history makes for an interesting experience. My mother, for example, was obsessed with the 4th of July fireworks and I have great memories of driving down to the Charles River (excuse me, Chaaahles Rivah) to watch them with her. And, at the same time, it was always made clear to me that this was not an Independence Day for black Americans, who were still enslaved at the time—even by some of the very writers and editors of the Declaration of Independence. So yes, yes, yesss to this statement Usher made over the weekend at the Essence Festival! Click inside for more!

Two More Roosters in the Hen House
Yesterday we saw a few photos from Taylor Swift and boyfriend Calvin Harris‘s 4th of July Holiday House Party which is taking place this weekend at a country home in New England … and today we get to see more photos. Taylor‘s BFFs Ed Sheeran and Nick Jonas wanted in on the fun and made their way to Taylor‘s place to partake in the Independence Day celebration. A cake was made and eaten, fireworks were exploded and lots of bonding took place all over … Taylor really knows how to whoop it up with her friends and family. More »
The TV Guide
I spent most of my 4th of July yesterday celebrating my independence by laying on the couch playing video games on my phone while I watched TV. By late afternoon, I started to feel bummed out that I wasted the day so I got ready and decided to go out for a drive … and a Slurpee. I figured I’d go up to Griffith Observatory to watch the fireworks explode all over LA but pretty much everyone else had the same idea and, well, I decided to go back home. Right as I was about to park at home, Darion texted me and invited me over to watch the fireworks with him as we ate take-out sushi — that was an offer that I couldn’t refuse. More »
