Newly Single Jake Gyllenhaal Hits The Streets Of SoCal

We first heard that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon split up about 2 weeks ago and then just received confirmation of the split just a few days ago but yesterday, Jakey poo was spotted rollin’ solo here in SoCal in the wake of all the GyllenSpoon break-up reports. According to US Weekly‘s coverstory this week, Jake is nursing a “broken heart” because, they claim, it was Reese who called things off … not him. That being said, Jake was snapped at Ammo in Hollywood, CA yesterday lookin’ (I’m told) totally happy and ravenously hungry:


After nearly three years together, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal called it quits in early December. “It broke his heart,” an insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. A source close to Gyllenhaal, 29, explains that the once-golden couple “fought constantly in the past few months,” and that the relationship concluded over a series of phone calls. Adds another source, “No one cheated. There was no drama.” After the pair met on the set of the film Rendition, their romance began in March 2007 — when Witherspoon, now 33, was still smarting from her 2006 divorce from husband of seven years Ryan Phillippe, 35, with whom she has two children (Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6). Indeed, sources say that her divorce and her kids were the two driving factors in the split. “She felt pressured to wed again but she wasn’t ready,” an insider says. “She couldn’t give Jake enough and she got cold feet. Jake wanted all of her. Although Gyllenhaal moved into her $5 million home in June 2008, Witherspoon struggled to quell her doubts about his suitability as a stepfather and long-term partner. “She really worried that they didn’t have enough in common,” the pal says. As a hands-on Mom, the “super-type A” actress also fretted over losing time with her kids to her boyfriend. “When she was giving all of her energy to Jake, she felt like she wasn’t giving her kids enough,” the source says. Not that Gyllenhaal didn’t try with Ava and Deacon, the insider points out: “He was great with the kids, but she felt like he didn’t get the whole scope of what that entailed.”

Of course, as with all of these sort of reports from “sources”, these details should be taken as merely conjecture (at best) or fabrication (at worst). Whatever the case may be, it would appear that we can finally be assured that GyllenSpoon have really called it quits and are each now single folks back on the market. I don’t believe that either of them will have much difficulty pairing up with new partners when they are ready to do so. Broken heart or not, I’m glad to hear that Jake has been lookin’ fine despite the split … mebbe it really was all for the best.

On Sunday November 29, we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon decided to call off their longtime relationship and break things off. Almost immediately after that report came out, representatives for the couple denied the claims of a break up and everyone assumed that the couple were still happily attached … well, except for me. Today we are hearing, again, that the couple have really truly broken up but this time, reps for GyllenSpoon are NOT offering denials … which essentially means that they are confirming the news. ‘Tis true, y’all, Jake and Reese are really dunzo!


From E! News‘s Marc Malkin: Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal know how to quit each other. The couple is no longer together. Sources confirm that the two decided to end their relationship about two weeks ago. People magazine actually reported the split back then, but reps for both stars insisted they were still very much in love. Reps are not commenting this time around. So what went down? “They needed time to figure it out and they were on different coasts,” a source says. “When they were finally together, they talked it out and decided they’re not going to be together anymore.” One source insists it’s completely amicable. “There are no other people involved,” the source said. “The relationship just ended. It just fizzled. But they also wanted to be careful and private about it because of Reese’s kids.” Our source also shot down recent reports claiming that Gyllenhaal was planning on popping the question. (FYI: Gyllenhaal seemed perfectly happy when we saw him just three days ago at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards in downtown L.A.)

Yep, I knew it … I knew it 2 weeks ago but, well, you know how these things play out. I shall refrain from mentioning this time around any desire to do cartwheels over this news (like I did last time) for fear of a lynching by rabid GyllenSpoon fans … this time around, I’ll just say that some relationships are just not meant to be and I wish them both a lifetime of happiness from here on out. Contrary to what some may believe, I do feel it is sad when a couple breaks up but if the split is amicable (as this report suggests) and the “love” just fizzles out … well … I guess it’s for the best that the couple stop pretending.

Woooooooot!!! People magazine is reporting today that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon HAVE BROKEN-UP!! GyllenSpoon are DUNZO, Y’ALL!!!


People first tweeted the good news:

Breaking News: Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have broken up!

And then they posted the “full story” online:

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have split, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE. No further details were given.

You’ll pardon me whilst I go do cartwheels all over my apartment (then out the door and down the street) despite the minimal details … I’ll update the story should any new deets become available … but can I just say WOOOOOOOOOOT!!! one more time?! Jakey poo is single again … and all is, once again, right with the world.

UPDATE: People have posted a new info from reps for both Jake and Reese that deny that the couple have broken up:

Despite reports, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are still very much a couple, according to their reps. Although a source close to the couple says their relationship has ended, reps for both say, “it is not true.” Nanci Ryder and Carrie Byalick, who rep Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal respectively, tell PEOPLE, “They are still together.”

Boo. I mean, I guess I’d expect the reps to deny a report like this but … well … I went and got my hopes up and everything. I guess we’ll have to see if these two rush out to be photographed together to see where things stand. At least I got in a few cartwheels when the initial story broke … it was deffo fun while it lasted ;)

Hollywood’s most exciting couple, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, were spotted enjoying a lovely afternoon together strolling Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice, CA this past Sunday just … you know … strollin’:


Nothin’ too excitin’ … nothin’ really to see just … strollin’. It seems evident that GyllenSpoon are still very much together, happy as clams, which is very heartening. And altho these two as a couple are about as thrilling as drying paint on a wall, it’s encouraging that they appear to still be going strong … and in lurve … or whatever. Carry on, GyllenSpoon … please, carry on.

The make a cute little family … well, pretend family that is. I understand that during Elton‘s performance, he dedicated the song Tiny Dancer to Reese Witherspoon. Ain’t that just the most precious thing you’ve ever heard?

Here are a few photos of lovebirds Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon making their way out of the Hollywood Bowl here in LA last night after attending the Ray LaMontagne/Jenny Lewis concert. From the looks of Reese, it appears that she enjoyed quite a few drinkies at the show last night:


Tho, while it looked like Reese was having a blast, Jakey poo did NOT look like he was having a good time. It’s unclear exactly why he was so pissy but mebbe he wasn’t too keen on the photogs getting snaps of Reese while she was so inebriated. It looks like she had fun, tho … Jakey should lighten up … or mebbe he should have a drink himself.

Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon Get Matchy-Matchy In Washington DC

Jake Gyllenhaal has joined his ladylove Reese Witherspoon in Washington DC (where she is currently in production of her new film How Do You Know?) this week and the couple were spotted on the streets of our nation’s capital looking like they dressed out of the same hamper:


As a world famous superstar, being seen in public wearing the same outfit as someone else is a definite no no. But Hollywood A-listers Jake Gyllenhaal, 28, and Reese Witherspoon, 33, didn’t seem to mind when they arrived at the gym in Washington wearing matching work-out kits today. Of course the happily dating twosome may well have planned to co-ordinate their gym gear of blue shorts and cap, grey t-shirt and trainers. Smiling and laughing, they walked hand-in-hand through the streets after their work-out.

To which I have to give a resounding ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

GyllenSpoon Surface In NYC, Then Try To Hide

Earlier today we got to see photos of Ryan Phillippe and his ladyfriend Abbie Cornish chillin’ with his children at his son Deacon‘s Little League baseball game this weekend and now we get to see pics of Reese Witherspoon and her manfriend Jake Gyllenhaal chillin’ by their lonesome in NYC. The couple were doing a bit of shopping in SoHo but weren’t really lookin’ to be smillin’ for the cameras:


From the looks of them, it don’t look like GyllenSpoon was much in the mood to be noticed. Poor dears. It remains to be seen just how long the couple plan to stay in NYC but now that Rabbie have the kids, I wouldn’t be surprised if the couple decides to stay on the East Coast for a while longer … you know, to hide out.

GyllenSpoon Celebrates Memorial Day With Roberty Downey, Jr.

Reese Witherspoon and her beau Jake Gyllenhaal joined Robert Downey, Jr. his son Indio Falconer and others for a private beach party in Malibu, CA yesterday afternoon. While GyllenSpoon did everything they could not to be photographed together (which makes absolutely no sense to me at all considering the many, many times we’ve seen them together), RDJ gave a very friendly wave and a hearty hello to the assembled photogs:


I really love the cut of Downey, Jr.‘s jib. The man is always pretty easy-going about his fame and tends to be very friendly towards the attention that his celebrity gets him. You gotta love a celeb that embraces their fame rather than those that seem annoyed that they’re famous. While I’m sure the party was very fun, I bet I’d like hanging out with the very friendly RDJ rather than the usually crabby GyllenSpoon.

On Monday we learned that longtime couple Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard were finally wed in a ceremony in Italy over the weekend and Maggie‘s brother Jake Gyllenhaal and his ladylove Reese Witherspoon were in attendance. The couple have since made their return to LA and were spotted making their way thru LAX Airport yesterday lookin’ tired from their long journey:


All’s I know is I hope GyllenSpoon didn’t get any crazy ideas from watching GyllenGaard get hitched. I can kinda stomach the fact that they are “together” but I don’t know how I’ll react if they actually get hitched themselves. I’m hoping that they keep in mind that Maggie and Peter were together for 6 years before they said I Do. Uh huh. 6 years. Don’t go doin’ any funny biz, Jakey poo.
