Last week we learned that comic Kathy Griffin, who was just named Entertainer of the Year by Out magazine for their annual Out 100 list, paid homage to Janet Jackson‘s iconic Rolling Stone magazine cover photo … and today we learn that she is also paying homage to Madonna in the very same magazine. Madonna was famously photographed by Herb Ritts in the late 80′s in a series of black and white photos, including the famous Minnie Mouse photo. Kathy recreates that photo in tribute in the new Out 100 issue of Out magazine. Check it out below.

It is that time of the year again when MAC Cosmetics releases their holiday promo photos for their annual Viva Glam campaign … and today we learn that the Viva Glam campaign this year will feature popstars Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin. As you may know, the Viva Glam line of MAC products raises funds for the MAC AIDS Fund so it’s not uncommon for popstars that work with AIDS-related charities to be featured in the campaigns. Hollywood producer Brett Ratner will no longer be involved with the production of the 2012 Academy Awards after he made an outrageous homophobic remark in front of an audience of fans. During a Q&A with fans after a screening of his film Tower Heist, Ratner was asked about the rehearsal process when making a film. Ratner scoffed at the question and said “rehearsing is for fags”. Just days later, Ratner issued a formal resignation letter to the Academy removing himself as producer of next year’s Oscars NOT, IMHO, by his choice. The Academy received so much heat for their association with Ratner in the wake of his disgusting comment that I’m *certain* he was forced to resign. In March of 2010, Ricky Martin officially came out as an openly gay man. A year later, in April of this year, it was reported that Ricky and his longtime partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella were planning on getting married in Abella’s home country of Spain (where same-sex marriage is legal). Today we learn that Ricky has successfully become a Spanish citizen, paving the way for the guys to say I Do.

Congratulations are in order for Conan costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner David Gorshein because the men were happily married in NYC, NY last night … where same-sex marriage is legal here in the US. What is even more special, I think, is that the men were married LIVE on national television … by none other than Conan O’Brien himself. Conan got himself ordained to legally marry couples in NY and married Scott and David as his first couple. Check out video of the sweet wedding ceremony below.

Congratulations are in order for Sex and the City star Mario Cantone and his director boyfriend of two decades … because the guys went and got themselves married! Mario shared the good news on a visit to The View last Friday, informing viewers that after sharing 20 years together in love the men decided to make it official. Isn’t that so cute?

Yesterday news spread very quickly that actor Zachary Quinto casually came out as gay in an interview with New York magazine. While I yearn for the day the “coming out” is no longer necessary, newsworthy or controversial, I must reiterate my happiness with the way that Zachary handled the situation. Instead of making a big deal about coming out, Quinto just very casually referred to himself as a gay man in the course of his conversation with New York mag. But, later in the day, Zach posted a message on his official blog that clarified and explained why he decided to come out now. Click below and read his very powerful message.

Actor Zachary Quinto is gay. And it’s no big deal … at all. In a new interview with New York magazine, Zac talks about his recent performance in the play Angels In America and he reveals how important it was for him as a gay may to give his best performance possible. Just like that … no big announcement, no hoopla for media attention, no magazine coverstory. Just in passing, while talking about his work, Quinto casually refers to himself as a “gay man”. And that, my friends, is how it should be done.

Tonight is the annual Out on the Mountain special night at Six Flags Magic Mountain where the park closes for GLBT folks and their friends. I missed out on going last year but David and I are really excited to go tonight! We’ve been talking about going to Six Flags all Summer but it never worked out. Tonight is our night, tho! It’s gonna be a blast!!

Last December, President Barack Obama signed the repeal of the US Military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy (which barred military service people from disclosing openly their homosexuality) and today, 9 months later, the DADT policy is OFFICIALLY DUNZO! The repeal went into effect at 12:01 AM today, from this point forward US service personel are FREE to come out and/or discuss openly their homosexuality without fear of being discharged from military service. What a great, great day for America it is TODAY!!!
