Sarah Michelle Gellar Shows Off Her Baby Girl

Charlotte Grace makes her debut in 'People' magazine
Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Back in September we learned that Sarah Michelle Gellar and hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr. welcomed the birth of their first child — a baby girl they named Charlotte Grace. Today we get our FIRST LOOK at their precious babygirl as she makes her worldwide debut in the pages of People magazine:

Oh baby … look at that beautiful face! Isn’t she precious? Now, for some reason, People chose not to put their interview with SMG and hubby FPJ online … but in the mag, SMG reveals that she went into labor while she was at the gym! At first, she didn’t believe that she was actually going into labor and FPJ reveals that she initially thought the rumble in her belly was from the spicy dinner she ate the night before :) SMG confesses that she decided to get an epidural for her delivery and enjoyed a totally pain-free birth … FPJ adds that after 3 pushes, Charlotte Grace came into the world. The couple also reveal that the birth of their child has equalized them immensely … they are now so focused on taking care of their baby girl that all other frantic stuff in their lives is now normalized and, as a result, better handled. The entire interview is a great read. After the jump, check out a few more photos of SMG, FPJ and little Charlotte Grace

Filming Gets Underway On The Facebook Movie

'The Social Network' goes into production
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Johns Hopkins University will fill in as Harvard University in the new Facebook movie titled The Social Network which has already started production. The film will tell the tale of how a Harvard student came up with a way for other students to interact with one another … a social network, if you will … and will star Jesse Eisenberg (the poor man’s Michael Cera) as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. It turns out that folks at Johns Hopkins aren’t too happy that their school is being portrayed as Harvard but hey, that’s showbiz. Here are a few pics from the set this week:

The Johns Hopkins University passed itself off as Harvard in a movie Monday without feeling the least bit flattered. “It feels degrading somehow,” said Diego Ardila, 19, as he watched workers remove the words “Latrobe Hall” from a stately brick building and replace them with “Kirkland House.” Hopkins’ Homewood campus is standing in for Harvard in “The Social Network,” a movie about the creation of Facebook by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg. The movie, like some Hopkins students, couldn’t get into Harvard, which has a longstanding policy against commercial filming on campus. So the production has opened some old college-admissions wounds. “The general consensus is, a lot of kids are not pleased,” said Lorre Atlan, 20, a junior majoring in biomedical engineering. “It’s obvious they [the filmmakers] could get Hopkins and not get Harvard.” That’s left Hopkins, one of the nation’s most selective colleges, feeling like a safety school. “It’s kind of like a blow to our pride,” said Ray Tsai, a 19-year-old sophomore studying biomedical engineering, an academic subject in which, he and others noted, Hopkins is rated more highly than Harvard. The sea of Hopkins hoodies and T-shirts on the campus’ quads Monday only looked like genuine school spirit. It was attempted sabotage. An anti-Harvard Facebook page urged students to “poke” into the movie by walking by the set in Hopkins wear. “Hopefully one slips in,” said Jack Chan, 19, a sophomore who pulled on a black Hopkins sweat shirt as he watched filming begin outside Shaffer Hall Monday afternoon. Not everyone thinks playing Harvard, which was tied for first with Princeton in U.S. News & World Report’s most recent college rankings, is beneath Hopkins, which came in a none-too-shabby 14th. “I think the people who have a problem with it are the same people who have latent self-loathing from the college admissions process,” said Sam Biddle, 22, a senior philosophy major. Jan Lee, 21, a junior in biomedical engineering, conceded, “A lot of people came here because they didn’t get into Harvard, Yale or Stanford.” Hopkins spokesman Dennis O’Shea put it in terms that might appeal to the competitive student body: “I prefer to think that we play Harvard better than Harvard can play Harvard.”

Yeah, I dunno know I feel about this idea of a Facebook movie. I understand they are trying to do something with Twitter as well … and I can only dread what they would turn out if they did a project on My Space. While I’m sure it’s somewhat interesting to see how the whole Facebook phenomenon got started, I can’t say that I’m all that impressed with the notion of a movie. It seems like just a way to capitalize on these new online ventures in order to make a quick buck. The fact that it is being directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) does speak to its merit but … I dunno. Are any of y’all interested in watching a movie about Facebook? I’m not sure that I am … I can barely be bothered to poke my friends on the social networking site itself. By the way … are we Facebook friends yet?

Rihanna Plans To Share Her Story On ‘Good Morning America’, ‘20/20’

"This happened to me. ... It can happen to anyone"
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Yesterday we got our first look at Rihanna on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Glamour magazine wherein she opened up for the first time about being physically assaulted by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown and today we get our first look at Rihanna’s first television interview about that very same incident. Good Morning America, helmed by Diane Sawyer, sat down with Rihanna recently to do an interview set for air tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday morning on 20/20 on Friday night. Here is a screencap from Diane’s interview with Rihanna and some info about their chat:

A written excerpt of Rihanna telling her side of story regarding the domestic violence done by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown has been unveiled. Sporting a new hairstyle, the Barbadian singer will do a one-on-one interview with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” this Thursday, November 5. “This happened to me. … It can happen to anyone,” Rihanna said in answer to one of Sawyer’s questions. She later on admitted that Chris was indeed her “first big love”, the fact that made the whole coping up situation difficult. The interview will also be aired as part of news magazine, “20/20″ on Friday night. This would be the first time for Rihanna to talk about the battery case on national television. Chris has come forward first on “Larry King Live” to address the incident including why he was violent and what was his reaction upon seeing Rihanna’s bloody picture that was leaked few days after the February case. Rihanna will make a return to “Good Morning America” on November 23 for a performance that celebrates the release of her latest album “Rated R” that day. But she will first debut her new music video for the single “Wait Your Turn” on “20/20″ on Tuesday, November 3.

Well, actually, Rihanna already debuted her music video for Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova) online cuz we got to see it in full yesterday. I am very curious to see these interviews with Rihanna … it’s one thing to read what she has to say but quite another to hear her speak. I will deffo be tuning in to watch her on both Good Morning America and 20/20. It cannot be easy to talk about issues of domestic abuse on such a public stage … I do hope that her message that it could happen to anyone will resonate with other people out there in her same situation.

James Franco Is The Newest Castmember On ‘General Hospital’

Soap Star Joe ... er, James
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

In early October we learned the somewhat surprising news that James Franco would be joining the cast of General Hospital and today we get our first look at the actor in his new role as soap star. ABC released a promo pic of Franco on GH … and here it is:

You guys, we’ve been waiting on pins and needles for this moment, and now we have it: the first images of James Franco in his much talked-about performance on General Hospital. Still no word on who James will be playing (beyond that it has something to do with Jason), but feel free to speculate away based on the image. And don’t forget: James’s first air date is Friday, November 20th! What do you think of this first shot? What’s this character all about? What’s with the all-black ensemble? Does that have something to do with Jason too? Start speculating!

Now, I don’t watch General Hospital at all … not since my college roommate used to make me watch it with her. I’m a total Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful fan (tho B&B is really trying my patience these days) so I have NO idea what is going on on GH. I still don’t know what James Franco is doing on a soap opera but it’s deffo a boon for the show. Folks who don’t watch the show but love Franco are more likely to tune in and get hooked. I won’t be one of those new viewers (I already watch way too much TV) but, again, it’s a big score for General Hospital. Do any of y’all watch the show … are you excited that James is joining the cast?

Rihanna Releases A Music Video For ‘Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova)’

The wait is ova, for real this time
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

A couple weeks ago we got our first listen of Rihanna’s new single Russian Roulette (the first single from her new album titled Rated R) but shortly after that song was released to radio, we learned that she was already prepping the release of a second single. Today Rihanna released a music video for that second single titled Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova) on her official website … here are a few screencaps from this new video:

The video is not bad … the song is another slow jam but I like it much better than Russian Roulette. Check it out after the jump and judge for yourselves …

‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ Releases First Movie Trailer

Jake Gyllenhaal in action, in accent

As y’all should be well aware by now, Jakey poo will portray Prince Dastan who is the protagonist of the Prince of Persia video game series (which this movie is based on). Two important things … first, Jake Gyllenhaal will be shirtless in much of the film … second, he will be speaking with a British accent. Yeah, sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad. After the jump, check out the movie trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in full …

Robert Pattinson Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

“I’m unbearably self-conscious about stuff”
Monday, November 2nd, 2009

When last we saw Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson inside the pages of Vanity Fair magazine, he was sharing the spotlight with some of his Twilight costars in order to promote the first Twilight film. R. Pattz wasn’t even showcased on the magazine’s cover! This time around, Pattinson has a new film to promote, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and not only is he featured in the mag all by his lonesome but he is also featured on the magazine’s cover for his very own coverstory:

It’s been exactly one year since Twilight, the teenage-vampire book series turned film franchise, became a worldwide phenomenon, launching brooding, reluctant star Robert Pattinson into the celebrity stratosphere. Not since Leonardo DiCaprio’s Titanic era has there been a young actor so rabidly hunted by teenagers and paparazzi alike—enough that mere sightings of him with his co-star and rumored paramour Kristen Stewart make for international front-page news. For the cover story of Vanity Fair’s December issue, contributing editor Evgenia Peretz interviews Pattinson, Stewart, and a host of Twilight insiders for an intimate profile that describes how he landed the role of Edward Cullen, distills the essence of his appeal, and explores his discomfort with the hormone-fueled frenzy he inspires among his fans. Peretz, who, as it happens, profiled DiCaprio in 2004, follows the Byronic British actor from the Comic-Con convention in San Diego to the Waldorf Towers in New York City, as he prepares for the November 20 release of Twilight’s sequel, New Moon. There are no wild nights out at clubs—even if he could go out without being mobbed, Pattinson would prefer to curl up with a good book. Rather than working his way through supermodels, Pattinson, who’s been living out of three suitcases for the past year, has been feeling overwhelmed, self-conscious, and guilty. “I’m trying not to drown,” he says in his hotel room at the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel, which is littered today with beer bottles, old scrambled eggs, a half-eaten Twix bar, and a dirty pair of jeans on the living-room floor. And he notices that he hasn’t made his bed. “Oh, God. Sorry about that.” “I’m unbearably self-conscious about stuff,” he admits. To the point where, while filming scenes before the army of New York paparazzi that has been following him around, he is terrified that his “ass crack is showing.” Raised outside London in a small village, with a wavering desire to be either a musician or an actor, Pattinson is painfully modest about his talent and looks, and eternally confused by his fans’ devotion. Despite the fact that he is an exquisite beauty—with perfectly formed red, red lips and a face that might have been dreamed by the Romantic poets—he thinks he resembles “a cartoon character.” One of his legs is longer than the other, which makes him look, he assures you, “like an idiot.” He’s sure he’s driving people crazy by constantly talking about how he can’t leave his hotel room. And he sees his inability to relish his fans’ reverence as his own shortcoming. “I guess I’m not the type of guy cut out to do a franchise,” he says. “I’m not much of a crowd person.”

Yeah, thus far this sounds like the Robert Pattison that we’ve come to know and lurve … painfully shy, terribly awkward and absolutely unassuming even tho he is the hottest commodity in Hollywood right now … with perfect hair!!! After the jump, check out a few photos of R. Pattz in this issue of VF and read a few more excerpts from his coverstory interview …
